Please Help Need a Stock unrooted Gingerbread RUU - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been looking for 2 hours now and can not find a RUU for the new Gingerbread Rom. Im giving my son my Evo Cuz IM getting the 3D so I just want to give him a STOCK Evo, I already unrooted to Froyo but its saying I dont have an update! I hve NO CLUE why but does anyone know where I can find a stock RUU (not zip) of the new gingerbread ROM?

Should have stayed rooted and downloaded the rooted "stock" gingerbread Rom. It is a stock Rom for rooted users

Root again, flash stock rooted 2.3.3. I don't see why you wouldn't want your son to have it rooted for things like wireless tether.

There is no RUU available yet for the GB 4.22 build. I'm not sure what's preventing you from updating to the OTA, but thought u could get it from htc.com or sprint.com.

I talked with customer service and they said they are having problems with the gingerbread update. I unrooted mine so I could return my evo to sprint. And get the evo 3d.

Please don't unroot your phone. When a rooted Evo comes in it gives me a reason to tell my boss I'll be busy for the next 3hrs unrooting it.

[Q] If rooted and running Baked Snack do I need to do the Sprint Update?

I am running Baked Snack 1.8 and I woke up this morning to a Sprint update. Since I am not stock and running a different ROM should I do this update? Will it even allow me to since I am not stock?
Is there a way that I could flash this update, did anyone root it yet?
Thanks,
G

If you take the update you will lose root the update is in the dev sections rooted but with out the HBOOT update or Radio's and PRI's and NV you can reroot after but the new methods are a pain in the ass due to the New HBOOTs haveing a different Partition table

So do you recommend me not even messing with it? I'm happy with my phone As-Is. I already have Swype and that is pretty much the biggest feature in this upgrade, correct?

If your are referring to the update from 12/17 I would just do a nan and check out a 3.70(updated Rom) and see if you notice any difference... NEVER ACCEPT A UPDATE FROM SPRINT

Here you go man. Its called an RUU, rom utility update, or something like that. Choose the first one on the page, the 3.70 software. That should work. Sometimes it takes a couple.tries, and you need to have HTC Sync installed. Good luck.

You can't rollback from 2.3 if you have an unrooted (S-ON) phone.
Bummer, even took it to Sprint to roll back and they couldn't do it they said they will call me when they can figure it out

[Q] unrooted my evo

i unrooted evo now its back to 2.1 how do i get to 2.2 so i can get gingerbread it says im all up to date
Are u going with a custom rom or stock? If custom you will first have to ROOT again.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Bro if u wanna get gingerbread you should get the official gingrrbread thats rooted
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
If you move to the unrooted OTA Gingerbread, you will not be able to root as there is no current fix for the 2.3 on EVO.
Your best option is to root - install latest rooted GB OTA and you're done. The rooted version of the update was out in about 12 hours after it started to get pushed from Sprint. Everyone just waited until it was rooted until they installed.

we will be but im helping the guy find the latest ota thats rooted. the only one i see was pulled from here.
if your already s off I believe this is what your looking for http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...gingerbread-update-for-htc-incredible-2-leak/
or if your looking to go back to non rooted stock http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...8-605-4-same-as-the-official-gingerbread-ota/ this was can be flashed if your s-on it is signed official gb unrooted
you guys officially got gingerbread right? or not yet? looking through the rom you linked i do not see superuser app in system/app at all. the guys dinc2 is already rooted with s-off. i just wanted it back to stock/rooted when i get it for activation.
yeah we got official. If I was u I would run the nonrooted ruu and have a fresh start you can root it very easily with revolutionary anyway. and if you run the official ruu it will give you a totally clean slate and get all his temp files and other junk off of it

[Q] EvO 4G... ruu update help

Hey guys. I recently rooted my HTC EvO 4G and installed a bunch of custom roms and i wanted to switch back to the stock rom for the EvO. I downloaded the ruu and flashed it and everything's fine, but its running 2.2. I hooked it up to my computer to check for software updates, and it said it had one. I downloaded it and clicked update now. The problem occurred when the update was taking place. It looked like it was updating in recovery.. im not sure.. it said that it could not update and now im stuck with 2.2. Please help??
You could always run Unrevoked to re-root and then flash a stock rooted ROM, that way you'd have the stock feel to the phone so to speak, but still have root access.

But why is it not updating the stock ROM in the first place?

Usually people shut up and take what they get lol but I'm guessing you're S=OFF and why would you go stock when there's many great devs who make awesome roms?
