I do not know the reason for the following Situation.
I once had Fresh 3.2 installed, for no reason the phone one day stayed at the boot screen after a restart.
I tried Installing CYANOGEn but never could o I installed NONSENSE, this is all usong RA recovery.
I tried installing the latest Fresh and Myns and no luck, I decided to go Closckwork, I was finally able to istall the new FRESH. YAY SO HAPPY... NOT I cant install anythig from the market or any apks. it reboots to bootscreen saying FRESHHHHH. AHHHHH, so I tryed reinstallyng, nothing then tried Myns, wont install in closckwork.
AHHH
then I go and reinstall RAs recovery, Im able to install Myn Ota supersonic, the rom runs perfectly I can install apps on the market, it wont reboot. so Now I install Myns warm twopointtwo. and yess it installs YAY, lets go install an app.. NOOOOOOO it restarts phone to boot screen.
WHY?????????????????
is there a problem witth my phone?
Did you wipe before flashing? If you dont, it might cause the problem you are describing.
i heard psoting in the right forum helps fixs problems too (see Q&A)
You're not wiping. If you are, you're doing it wrong. If you wipe wrong, it leaves sh*t behind. Same rule applies to the men's room.
Sent cuz I like boobies
Not sure if you are doing complete wipes and disregard my answer if you are, but I used Amon RA and wipe EVERYTHING twice whenever I install a new ROM or do a nandroid restore. I wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, ext, battery, and rotation twice. I have never had a problem flashing ROMs. It might be overkill, but it works.
I have done everything
I have Wiped EVERYTHING even changed the SD card,
now Im able to Flash Fresh and Warms rom but
now I cant install any apps from the market or SD
everytime I try to install something it reboots.

My evo has gone insane. Since a few days ago it was randomly reboot fairly often. Now as of a couple hours ago it pretty much reboots as soon as it boots up.
I have re wiped everything and reflash rom (was using fresh), then i wiped and tried damage control, then i wiped and nandroided back to before problems started (from ava's 2.2 rom leak)
all 3 result in reboots galore.
Any ideas at all? should i considering a stock 2.2 rom to break root and return to sprint?
My buddy had this issue and it ended up being his GPS that was making the phone reboot overtime the phone tried to use a location service. Could be anything but a call to Sprint and he was given his MSL and walked through how to reset everything and it works like a charm now.

nope. im not doing anything. it wont even run a fresh stock 2.2 rooted rom without rebooting even after full wipe/reflash
What recovery are you using, and how are you doing the wipes?
If you are using clockwork, here's what I always do when flashing a rom that requires a wipe.
I wipe from the first menu, where it says clear storage.
Then I reboot and go into recovery, wipe data from there. Then I wipe cache. Then I go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache. I've never had an issue like yours since doing that.
Maybe try that?

Ive used both clockwork and RA in about every combination possible through every wipe method I have ever read about. Its driving me nuts nothing is working i cant even get it to boot up now before it reboots
That sounds like faulty hardware at this point.
im trying to unroot and cant even seem to get that to work. I am on hboot 79 for some reason, trying to downgrade to 76 but cant connect with abd via recovery. you normally are able to, right? I cant boot the rom to turn on debugging and abd that way..
ok, using an official RUU i get an
"error [140]: bootloader version error"
for some reason my hboot is 0.79 not 0.76
trying to flash the pre-leaked "official" 2.2 rom i get error saying no signature
trying to do step 2 of toast root over again (to get 0.76 hboot back) also is not working. I am getting "older version" error on the pc36img part
My phone won't boot more than 3 seconds into the animation. I use CM6.0 stable. I had flashed the PS3Freedom zip in order to Jailbreak my PS3, restored to CM6 with no problem, and then when I did it again I couldn't boot into my RESTORED CM6 ROM. I restored few old nandroids that I didn't like till I got to my rooted Sense 2.2 one, then I deleted a few nandroids from when I was flashing nightlies to make room to download BakedSnacks 1.7 through ROM Manager. Everything was working fine, but then I tried to get CM6 running again and I am still not able to boot into it. What's going on here?
To the best of my knowledge I've been wiping the Data/Cache as often as necessary, even the Dalvik Cache a few separate times trying to get this to work.

what recovery are you using?
in clock work, try wiping to factory, wipe cache partition, wipe datavik then flash from zip to whatever rom.
in RA do the same but make sure your rom is on the root of your sd.
i had the same issue and did that and it worked fine.
Alrighty....seems as if I have some MAJOR problems here.
Background, I have a DInc 1, rooted using Unrevoked, and the only ROM I put on it was Cyanogen Mod 7. S-off is all set up, and there is the Superuser features have worked fine 75% of the time. Everything was up and running quite well for some time. Then this weekend, I installed a few different DWLauncher themes, and things still seemed to be ok. Sunday night, I installed Words with Friends, and that is when all hell broke lose.
Now, I really can't run anything. Apps are force closing all over the place, Google framework stuff is force closing and when I even try to report a problem, even that force closes. So, I uninstalled the Words with Friends App, and changed themes, thinking those were the culprits, but seems like the damage has been done. Nothing really works and everything is force closing.
Went into the ROM Manager (premium) and did a fix permissions and it gave me the "error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" error. I ran it a handful of times, and it worked once last night. I thought it would have cleared a bunch of stuff up, but it didn't really help at all. Kept the phone off all night, and when I got to work this morning, I started working on it. Fine, time to ditch everything and start from scratch. So, downloaded a different ROM (Cyanogen MOD nightly), and also tried a few others, which it let me download, but when I click to install, no matter what options I click from wiping cache, wiping Dalvik, backing up or anything, it always gave me the same error. So, back to ROM manager, trying to boot in recovery, error, boot into CM recovery, error.
Edit, as I finished typing this, I tried to install the nightly one more time, but did not click wipe Dalvik, and it is installing things. As soon as everything installed, it was more of the same, apps crashing all over the place. I was able to go into ROM manager and boot into CM recovery, which is now allowing me to fix problems. So, it seems as if was working properly, for the first couple of hours, but around 10 pm, roughly 12 hours after the install, app crash-o-rama again. Also, from ROM Manager, when I try to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, it force closes.
So, I am kinda stuck. No matter what ROM I download, it gives me the same error. At this point, I don't care what ROM is on there (I do have preferences), but I just want the phone working again. Is there anyway to force a wipe and install?
Thanks in advance
You can, instead of installing the ROM through ROM Manager, just download the ROM zip file, put it on your SD card, do the full wipe/factory reset/dalvik in Recovery, then flash the ROM zip from there.
I've had issues trying to install a ROM that's downloaded from ROM Manager.
Here's what I do before flashing the ROM zip file:
Wipe user data/factory reset
Wipe dalvik (under the Advanced menu in Recovery)
Wipe /boot, /system, /data, /cache (under Mounts and Storage in Recovery)
THEN flash the ROM zip file.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply. It has been a long day of working on this phone. I have to pull my battery so many times, almost as many times as my blackberry.
I have installed about 4 different ROM versions until it would allow me to clean everything up, Dalvik and system cache, but as of now, everything is back up and running.....for now. Let's hope it stays that way.
If it doesn't, it seem like I will go the way of skipping the ROM Manager and just boot straight into recovery and do it all that way.
Thanks again
ROM manager isn't exactly reliable software. Most devs recommend a clockwork flash rather than ROM manager. Don't know why there are so many issues with it, but its pretty much not worth using to flash ROMs. It's fix permission feature is exactly the same routine that clockwork uses though. Updating the superuser might be something to try too.
ROM manager only wipes once and cwm3 doesn't wipe properly.... I've always read that you should wipe data cache and dalvik 3 times each before installing a new ROM wich is why you should use cwm.

Awesome link!
That you all for the info. I tried a few things, installed a few ROMS, wiped them each time, and back to the CM7 nightlies and it all seems to be working fine now. Let's hope it stays that way.
Next time I have problems, I will have to do everything out side of ROM Manager and see if it has a better result..
Thanks again
Actually this has happened to me, usually happens when installing or Uninstalling certain hardware.
After reinstalling my roms to get it to work right when it did it few hours later to infuriate me. The only thing that did work was booting into Recovery and install my rom again but with what the guy said.
Wipe all data, everything, factory reset.
Then install your rom, then make sure you don't install or Uninstall certain hardware.

Hey everyone,
Ok, here's the deal. I flash new ROM's by CM or Amon and I get the message saying SD card unmounted. Go to settings to mount it, it shows as no SD card installed. Reboot into recovery, SD available. I've read clearing cache and davlik a few times usually clears up any initial load problems for new ROM's. Nope, doesn't help. Reboot shows no SD installed
Back into Recovery.
Mount SD card?
Tried it. Still unmounts on boot.
BUT...
Not on ALL ROM's.
I'm running Myn's Warm 2.2 fine (well, some laggyness)
I'm running 1975jamie's King Cocoa II True Blue just fine
I ran Cyogen fine (just don't like AOSP ROM's)
MIUI ran great.
I'm dying to keep the new line of Sense 3 ROM's.
They all install, load, and boot just fine.
I get to the initial "new user" setup stages and they all connect and sync just fine, then POOF! I get the little SD card symbol in the upper left hand corner saying SD card unmounted...
I ignore that to check out the ROM's and they scroll just fine, everything opens and closes fine.
Any ideas?
Jack
Are you flashing in recovery or with ROM Manager?
Last flashed ROM was Warm 2.2
Used ROM Manager to D/L ROM, add on's, and flash them.
All boxes checked prior to flashing (Backup, Cache, Cache/Davlik)
Previously was running Warm 2.2 (prior to King Cocoa II), but flashed through CM.
Both flashing methods yielded no problems.
Flashed MIUI in Recovery AND ROM Manager to test.
Both yielded no problems.
Every other ROM, but the 4 I listed in my OP, shows no SD card.
So basically, list of WORKING Rom's installed and run, in order, were:
Warm 2.2 then
New install of King Cocoa II then
New install of Cyogen then
New install of Warm 2.2 (deleted backup for fresh start) then
New install of MIUI then
Backup of Warm 2.2
Only backups I still have are KC 2, Warm, and MIUI.
In between some of those I tried flashing other ROMS, but all croaked with no SD message...
Jack
I don't recommend using Rom manager for flashing roms. Rom manager and clockwork mod tend to not wipe cleanly. You should gave better luck using only amon ra. Wipe everything 3 times(except sd) before flashing. If you still have issues, try formating your sd card on your computer.

That's all well and good, but doesn't explain why only 4 ROM's flash "right" on my phone regardless of what method I use, lol
Gotta tell ya though, as much as I've liked this Evo...
The Samsung Galaxy S II is looking better and better every day.
I can't promise, but I can assure that you'll have better results using Amon Ra and flashing in recovery.
The best method is do a nandroid of you current working ROM. Backup everything but cache (arguable), then go to wipe and wipe every setting there is once, except the SD card itself, and the battery stats, if you're not fully charged.
Then wipe Dalvik cache and cache 2 times.
Then flash your ROM.
If you REALLY wanna do it up right, before you flash the new ROM, back up your SD Card to your computer, format it in Windows with a card reader, then put it back in the phone, go to partition, in Recovery.
Partition using 64mb for swap (arguable.. some people put 0) and 1024 for EXT partition.
When it's done, convert to EXT3.
Then copy all your stuff back to your SD Card.
Flash your ROM and then flash DT APS2SD before you reboot. I know a lot of ROMS have it baked in, but I still flash it manually.
Once your ROM boots (if it does) let the phone just sit til the screen shuts off, then reboot to Recovery and do another Nandroid, so you have a backup of a stock/working version of your ROM. Flash a custom kernel if you want to (wipe cache and Dalvik Cache first), then reboot. Let your phone settle again (til the screen turns off) then start setting things up, Google acct., apps, etc.
If you use Titanium backup to restore your apps, ONLY RESTORE apps/Data that you put on your phone. No Google apps, no System apps, No HTC apps.
Then reboot again, when you're done.
Yes, it will take some time to do all this.
Yes, you will have very little chance of problems like force closes, reboots, etc.
Now if you REALLY REALLY want to do it right, do a nandroid of your current setup, and then flash a stock/Sense ROM in recovery and Nandroid that so you have a stock setup for flashing GPS fixes, updating your profile, etc.
(BTW, having a stock setup means you can probably just flash that and not unroot if you have to take your phone in at all)
Is your card partitioned if so did you partition it after you backed up warm 2.2 .
You may need to fix sdext in recovery or run a fix using your computer I had something like that happen and I fixed it by mounting to my PC in recovery then started to copy some files then just stopped it in the middle of coping and when I plunged it back in my PC recognized there was a problem and ran a fix for it .
I know that sounds kind of geto.

Just thought I put in my 2 cents. I Used to use Rom Manager to download roms but I experienced a lot of force closes. Now, I always flash thru recovery. I Factory wipe 3 times, I also use calkulin's format 3 times, clear cache 3 times and clear delvick cache 3 times... then flash. Also, read thru the forums on the roms you are using this maybe a problem with that rom. I personally have not the issue you have.
So, im having a problem now. I used boot manager then i installed a cm7 nightly, i restarted and went back to deck ics 5, then everything was fine so i rebooted. it was looping. so i wiped everything and i just decided to install deck ics 6 and it reboots and goes to the recovery, Im stuck and I need some help, after the flash and it goes to recovery, i checked the usb mode toggle and theres nothing there, so im guessing its not installing at all
Just do it the normal way. Wipe everything in recovery (With Amon Ra) as has been detailed a billion times on here, then flash the ROM you want
^ Yeah I agree with that person. I was using CWM until yesterday when it wasn't wiping the Dalvik cache properly. I now use the alternative that he said, use it lol
