My evo has gone insane. Since a few days ago it was randomly reboot fairly often. Now as of a couple hours ago it pretty much reboots as soon as it boots up.
I have re wiped everything and reflash rom (was using fresh), then i wiped and tried damage control, then i wiped and nandroided back to before problems started (from ava's 2.2 rom leak)
all 3 result in reboots galore.
Any ideas at all? should i considering a stock 2.2 rom to break root and return to sprint?
My buddy had this issue and it ended up being his GPS that was making the phone reboot overtime the phone tried to use a location service. Could be anything but a call to Sprint and he was given his MSL and walked through how to reset everything and it works like a charm now.

Are you overclocking at all? If you are, scale that back some.

nope. im not doing anything. it wont even run a fresh stock 2.2 rooted rom without rebooting even after full wipe/reflash
What recovery are you using, and how are you doing the wipes?
If you are using clockwork, here's what I always do when flashing a rom that requires a wipe.
I wipe from the first menu, where it says clear storage.
Then I reboot and go into recovery, wipe data from there. Then I wipe cache. Then I go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache. I've never had an issue like yours since doing that.
Maybe try that?

Ive used both clockwork and RA in about every combination possible through every wipe method I have ever read about. Its driving me nuts nothing is working i cant even get it to boot up now before it reboots
That sounds like faulty hardware at this point.
im trying to unroot and cant even seem to get that to work. I am on hboot 79 for some reason, trying to downgrade to 76 but cant connect with abd via recovery. you normally are able to, right? I cant boot the rom to turn on debugging and abd that way..
ok, using an official RUU i get an
"error [140]: bootloader version error"
for some reason my hboot is 0.79 not 0.76
trying to flash the pre-leaked "official" 2.2 rom i get error saying no signature
trying to do step 2 of toast root over again (to get 0.76 hboot back) also is not working. I am getting "older version" error on the pc36img part

what rom are you using? did you change kernals? do you overclock?
I am assumign you are rooted since you said you restored an old nandroid.
did you do a full wipe before upgrading if you did which recovery did you use?
If you used clockwork recovery you may try using Amon RA and wipe with ti and reflash.
i was told to wipe dev. cache and wipe factory reset and take the battery out put it back in 15 secs or 30 and it should work...did the trick for a while but once im getting all my setting how i want it with my contacts and my apps downloading.... it starts the problem all over... SMH....
i used nandriod to recover...when all other failed i was told to use clear storage....so now everytime i turn my phone on i have 2.2 but it restarts the phone for no reason...how do i use amon ra and wipe with ti? i think i havent tried that....and im using build 3.36.651.6 (Rooted) Odexed rom....
i really need some help with this anybody got a related post with a solution or a fix for this my phone still turning off and on...
Flash the eng-PC36IMG zip in bootloader, then restore.
Hey guys, was running the latest fresh when I decided to wipe via clockwork and try out DC, DC gave me bootloop at 4G screen, so I wiped via clockwork and tried again, same result.
I picked up the Amon Ra recovery and wiped and tried flashing via that, same result, tried again, same result so I figured I'd wipe it and flash back to Fresh, well now I've wiped using Amon Ra and tried to flash Fresh and I'm bootlooping as well.
Any idea's?
I'm entirely stumped.
Start over
Nand recovery then root again. Find a stable rom. There are tons that float to the top of the forum. I'm on Damage Control 3.5, works great.
Tried to Nand, It error's out and won't restore.
Like I said, DC 3.5 is what gave me the trouble to begin with, at least thats when my troubles started.
My phones gone completely unstable..and at the moment, unusable.
Also, be patient. After a flash, it may take a while for it to load. You seem overly anxious, by your post. I've flashed 30x and probably only bootlooped twice and those were Fresh's 3rd to last rom.
I let it sit there for 10 minutes saying fresh 1000x over a couple times, pretty sure I'm not being impatient.
battery is now dead.
Full wipe
Are you wiping everything? Dalvik wipe, user data wipe, cache wipe? Can you get back to recovery? How did you root?
Yes I can get into recovery, yes I'm wiping everything.
I used Simpleroot to get Root.
Rerun
I would try to re-run the second button in simple root to unlock nand. It doesn't hurt to re-run. You really shouldn't have a problem recovering nand if that process worked the first time. If you can't get that to run, you might want to adb it, but since you simplerooted your phone, you might have to read up on that. Once you take care of nandroid, you are good to go.
Nand is giving me an error that backup cannot be found <even tho I most definitely did Nand backup my stable setup> so IDK what fixing nand would do even if it is broken if it cant find the restore files. erm..
End of the Road
I suggest you do a forum search for more opinions/solutions. You are not the only one on here that has been through this. I did a quick search and found a handful of threads with this exact same topic.

How did you install a different recovery if your stuck in a boot loop? As for your problem, i had a bootloop before on freshz's older rom, and some of the solutions i had read werent working, i ended up booting into recovery, and rewiping without doing a reinstall of the rom, and it solved my problem, also have read that pulling the battery has gotten some people out of there loops. Hope this helps
I pulled the battery booted into recovery and wiped the rom, flash an alternate, booted up, changed to Amon and started over, was the one time I was able to get it to boot threw, after that same results.. I couldn't explain how it managed to boot up just one time either.
Hope I dont get flamed for this one haha, but yeah, just like the title says. I'm not new to the flashing/rooting scene, I owned a D1 and currently a X, but I'm working on my friends EVO. He was upgraded to Froyo, so I downgraded him, rooted him, full NAND access. That was new to me, the NAND access. But I tried installing a rom (CM6), got an error. Only thing I can think of is I didn't perform a full wipe, because well i'm a little confused what is considered a full wipe for the EVO.
I use CWR for all my stuff, so I did the same with his. The dalvik cache and battery stat is new to me also, what are they and where are they located exactly within recovery? Also, some people posted that you should wipe the EXT, which is the sdcard, right? Can't risk the sd card, I could always back it up, but limited time on my hands.
So just for reference sake, can someone give me the exact details of a full wipe for the EVO (within CWR). Exact steps please.
Thanks for your time.
Also, how can you tell if you don't have full NAND access? Failure of installing a rom, I presume? lol
Going into hboot. Power + volume down when phone is turned off and hold till hboot pops up. Look on top and should say s-off. If so you are fully rooted and nand unlocked. If it says s-on security is still on and need to unlock still..
You should do delvik and cache wipe. Cwr delvik wipe doesn't work and advise get ra recovery in the market. Use Rom manager and flash clockwork on top of the list in program. Then scroll down and click flash other recovery. This will change Cwr to ra recovery.
So anyways you do delvik wipe and cache wipe. Then do a factory reset. Then go to install zip. And find cm6. Should work. Some people downgraded their hboot version to get to work but I didn't have to and did the downgrade for root also. But I did downgrade anyways after cm6 install. Supposedly it has more options?
When you go into recovery go through all the options and check where everything is. Takes 1 or to flashes to naturally know where everything is. Pretty simple.

Thank you very much. Amons worked perfect.

You don't need to wipe the ext on SD card unless you partioned your card to do apps to SD. So.don't worry about that. Did you get the Rom working?

I just flashed a fresh cm7 rc4, along with gapps, and zendroid kernel (avs i think i'm not sure which one).
Things were working great. I was using the phone, had just installed widget locker, and then tried to plug my phone into the computer.
Thats when the trouble started. For some reason, usb debugging worked, even the wireless tether worked, but I could not get the sd card to be on the computer, the option just never came up.
To fix the problem, I tried resetting the phone, but when I did so the phone became stufk on the cm7 boot animation for a few hours. What do I do?
I would just do a fresh install, but this is actually the third time that I have gotten stuck on the bootloading screen with cm7, so I just need to find a solution. Please help.

Really need some help with this, guys...need my phone back
You're not alone. I installed GApps along with CM7. Stuck in Boot animation. My wife is pissed.
You posted in the wrong section. I will transfer this over to the EVO Q&A area.
I am assuming that you have your EVO rooted. If you are stuck in a bootloop, simply pull your battery, put it back in and press the power button while holding Vol Down. This will make you go into bootloader. From there, simply go into recovery, wipe everything, and reflash the rom. I have done CM7 and gapps and have no issue.

I did that, many times. One time, it just worked. Didn't do anything different as far as I know, but kind of makes me unsure about future flashes etc.
Pull your battery out, wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache in recovery. Flash ONLY CM7 and the google apps. I think the kernel might be the problem for the bootloop.

I never wipe any of those things seperately, I just use calkulin's format all. That couldn't be the source of any problems right?? I mean, I always believed that that was the best way.
Thanks. I ended up doing that. All is better now.

I've used Caulkin's format all twice, and both times, I got stuck in the white screen boot loop and had to reflash Amon Ra, just to get back to recovery and flash one of my nandroids.
Wiping everything in recovery works perfectly fine for me.
I use Calk's format all at least a few times a week, sometimes a couple times a day. Always works fine.
Did you wipe?
Did you wipe the data/cache from the handset? if not do so through clockwork
About a month ago I decided I wanted to try out Synergy ROM for my EVO, so I went for God Mode and everything has been running fine...until now. I had installed a kernel earlier this week for underclocking and such, but decided today that I didn't really use it as much as I though so I decided to reflash the HTC stock 4.24. I just did that about 10 minutes ago, I made a backup in case something went wrong and I backed up all my apps/texts as well. It flashed, rebooted...then it got stuck in a boot loop. So I pulled the battery and booted up into the bootloader to go into recovery...when I found every time I hit recovery it would just restart to the bootloader. So I'm not really sure if there is anyway to restore my backup or any other way to boot into recovery. Am I just screwed? Or can I use ADB to boot into recovery/restore my backup? This is sort of my first question post so...If you need any more information just ask.
Thanks,
Suprgamr232
If your phone is still going into bootloops. Connect your phone to your computer and go to adb and type in adb reboot recovery. There you can revert back into a nandroid backup. Hope this helps
Not to be rude, but you didn't read the entire post did you? I can't access my recovery and AFAIK adb doesn't work while it's in a bootloop. Also, I don't think adb recognizes my device when it's in the bootloader either.
Hey im just trying to help, Maybe some how you lost your recovery? Maybe try reflashing your recovery from the bootloader, make sure it named pc36img.zip. See if you can access your recovery after that. What recovery are you using btw, clockworkmod or amon ra? and did you wipe your cache and dalvik cache files through recovery before you flashed your kernel?
If you can access your recovery after reflashing it, Try wiping those in recovery and rebooting, see if it boots into your rom. If not and you still get a boot loop but you can access recovery do a full wipe and reflash your rom or try restoring a nandroid
Not gonna argue with you, so I'll let it slide...I'm using clockworkmod and I did wipe my cache and dalvik cache. ATM I haven't been able to get a hold of a new recovery img for some reason...can never get it to download 100%, will try it soon hopefully.
There's no need to argue Ive heard that clockworkmod doesnt always completely wipe the cache and dalvik maybe try using amon ra this time around http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
Cant hurt to try it. hope you can get it working for ya, gl
Still stuck in the bootloop. I tried restoring but that didn't help. I tried reinstalling the ROM and the kernel I used before and no change, I don't really want to wipe my phone and try it but...I guess it might turn out that way. Before I do though I was wondering if there is anything else I should try?

You're gona have to do a full wipe [ factory/data, cache, and dalvik ] , reflash your rom, kernel, ect. Once you sign in, boot, ect, you can use titanium backup to restore your apps and data, NOT system settings.
Alrighty then. Did that and everything seems to be working fine...A little disappointed but as long as I have my phone! Thanks for your help!
