I'm trying to buy an app in the market, and having my Sprint Account billed, and I keep getting a server error. I looked this problem up, but all of the solutions seemed to only be for someone utilizing a credit card, and I want to just have the cost billed to my account. Any ideas?
Thanks
You may have to give sprint a call to have it authorized. I heard someone mention having to give them a buzz because of that issue.
Hmm, I'll give it a shot. But now I can't even see the option to Bill my Account. I'm really confused. Is my market not updated completely? I'm using CM7...
I'm using version 3.10.10 of the Google Play Store, on a stock unrooted E4GT, and every app I try to purchase won't give me the option of billing to Sprint. A couple of weeks ago the option was there, but now it won't let me choose that.
I've tried contacting Sprint to see if my wife turned the option off or something; she hadn't. Sprint says that some app developers choose not to allow carrier billing, that the choose to be paid via a credit card or Google Play balance. My account is in good standing, and the spending limit is not exceeded, and the account is opted in for Carrier Billing, and I'm using 3G, not wifi, to purchase. I've also cleared the cache and data of Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Google Services Framework apps, but that didn't help.
http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=167794 also says "Your device must be provisioned for use with direct carrier billing." how do I check that it is provisioned to do so?
Is anyone else experiencing issues when billing to Sprint when trying to purchase an app?
Can someone try to select Bill to Sprint on an app and let me know which ones work so that I can see if it's my phone or something else, please?
Hmm...
I've just contacted Sprint again and they still tell me that my account is in good standing, no outstanding charges and not over the spending limit. I even tried using an alternative Google account in case something was wrong with mine, but the option still isn't there. I'm using the stock OTA FI27, and build 3.10.10 of Google Play Store.
Could it be the version of Google Play or maybe FI27 that won't allow Carrier Billing?
I am also having this problem. I have tried on Blue Kuban (FI27) and on FL16. Anyone have Carrier Billing working?
Note, I did try on 3G and had my wifi off.

Dale J.: Let's move this chat and make it a window of its own. It will enable you to view other Web pages while we chat.
Simply click the white Yes button below now.
Dale J.: Thanks for moving the chat window.
Dale J.: Can you please provide more details of the question?
You: I would like to enable Carrier Billing for purchases on the Google Play Store via my Android phone.
Dale J.: Ok
You: I tried once, and it was refunded because the feature was not enabled?
Dale J.: Please let me check this for you
Dale J.: Please allow me a few moments
You: This is the message I got when I tried. "Your order has been cancelled by Google because your carrier billing account was not authorized."
Dale J.: Ok
Dale J.: Please let me check
Dale J.: Few more moments please
Dale J.: Thanks for your patience
Dale J.: I have checked the account details and there is no such issue with the account , it seems to be a temporary technical error , I would request you to please try to purchase it again and please let me know if you are facing any issue. I will be online with you
You: One other problem I was having. On my 2nd line, I had the option to purchase via carrier billing. On my first line I did not. After I tried one time on my 2nd line. The option disappeared.
Dale J.: Ok
You: Now I do not have the option to purchase via carrier billing on either line via the Google Play store. All I see is Add Credit Card or Redeem code. Where before there was a option to purchase via Carrier Billing (Sprint).
Dale J.: Please let me check this for you
Dale J.: It seems to be a technical issue with the online account that is why you are not getting the option. I will transfer you to a Technical Support chat specialist.
Please allow me a few moments
You: Here is another error I got. But the order was not canceled within 7 days, more like 15 seconds after I made the order. "An attempt to charge $0.99 to Sprint USA ********** failed. You must update your payment information within 7 days or your order will be cancelled."
Dale J. has left the chat
You are being transferred, please hold...
Agent Lauren E. enters chat
Lauren E.: Thank you for contacting Sprint. I am happy to help you. Please give me a moment to take a look at your account.
You: It must of tried to bill a secondary payment method after carrier billing failed.
Lauren E.: I'm sorry to see you are having this problem. Please allow me a few moments to look into this for you.
You: No problem.
Lauren E.: I am seeing here, that you account does not have the bill to account feature, this actually that Sprint disabled about 6mo-1yr ago. It is not something I have the ability to change for you, I do apologize for the inconvenience. In order to make purchases from the Google Play store, you will need to use an alternate method of payment.
You: So Sprint has disabled Carrier Billing?
Lauren E.: Yes, that is correct.
You: Ok thank you. That is all I needed.
Lauren E.: No problem.

I literally read this thread, went to the play store and bought a song and billed it to Sprint. Strange.

I figured I was being lied too... Still makes me wonder why it is not working for me. What rom are you running?
I remember sprint was ending carrier billing when I had my og epic. But honestly I still have the option as I still use it all the time. How long have you been with Sprint? I've been with them for ten years so maybe they grandfathered us long time customers to keep the option?
Edit: Just did a search and couldn't find anything about them ending carrier billing. I guess it was billing phone purchases to your account that they ended. And my search results suggest Google added carrier billing to google market for Sprint. Guess it's your phone. Maybe you opted out by accident. I know I had to agree to terms and conditions when I first tried using it.

I didn't even know this was an option until I saw this thread. Pretty nifty, but I'll keep charging to my debit card, my Sprint bill is large enough as it is.

I know in my area, I tend to roam alot on Verizon. Maybe that has something to do with it. Anyone able to do carrier billing with wifi on?
I bill Sprint weekly. Only issue I have ran into is Sprint has to check for acct over regular data not wifi so if you're in a location with crappy or spotty data it will give issues. I can't at work even though I'm on wifi but as soon as I'm home where I get service I'm fine. I called them a few weeks back about it not working sometimes.

Also remember only some apps will allow you to charge sprint. Some app devs don't want to wait for the money or just choose not to do it.

I have tried clicking around on several different app's. Even made sure I was connected to a Sprint Tower via Netmonitor. I just can't get the option to bill Sprint.
I forgot I created this thread. I still haven't been getting carrier billing to work. Even apps that previously allowed carrier billing are not allowing it now so the other day I contacted Sprint again via webchat and was told that it's because I haven't been a customer for 3 months, and new customers have to wait three months. So I'm going to try on January 8th and see what happens. What I don't understand is why the option previously showed up when I wasn't allowed.
Temporary Fix

Sorry, just found this thread. Google Play, version 3.10.10, seems to have removed the option to bill carriers. At least that is the case with my version and my carrier (AT&T). If you go to application settings, and clear the cache/data for the play store, and then choose "uninstall updates", it will revert to the version that came on your phone. You'll be able to sign in and bill to your carrier, however, the play store will update itself shortly after. I haven't found a way to prevent the play store from updating itself on these new versions, so this is the only way I know. Sorry it's not a cure and only a temporary fix!

All of a sudden i get verifying account and then "my phone is not eligible" when trying to turn on carrier billing. Anyone who had problems ever resolve this issue? Im not late on any bills, no carrier blocking, reset phone manually, deleted account on google wallet, no roaming, not on wifi, switched to 3g only...... I even logged in on another phone with my account in the play store and it works! I still cant get carrier billing to work!
I live in an unsupported country (Cyprus)
I am trying to make Google pay to work, i saw a lot of people from uk come here and pay with apple pay!
I found that revolut card is supported on apple pay and on google pay but there is a catch you can add your card if you live in UK Germany etc rather that Apple pay there was support for apple pay!
I found.boon Germany alternative app but I wasn't able to transfer money from my card
is there any way to make Google pay work in my country?; or at least find an alternative app?
I am 16 and most of my friends does carry wallet but I hate using it and most of the time I forget it home with my card inside.... rather if there is an app, or make Google pay work in my country I will be able to pay with it without trying to find my wallet; is such a pain trying to find my wallet or coming home to get it because I forgot it
If your card is issued in Germany, you can use VPN to change your Google account to Germany (or just create a new account and keep both logged in on your phone), and then add that card to G Pay on your German account.
If it is bot issued in Germany, boon in the only option I've heard about.

I tried that but it needs phone verification
Using the Chinese version in the USA generally with no problems. However, I'm trying to set-up in-store payments with Google Pay and I get a message that says "Added features couldn't be set up. To resolve this, you'll need to contact your bank. You can still pay with this card on Google and across other apps and sites, just like before."
- Contacted Google first. They said my bank needs to restore or reset token.
- Call the card (Chase). They have no idea what tokens are and tell me I need to set the card up with Google.
- Call Google. The lady tells me I need to reset other devices that have Google Pay. I reset both of them. No luck.
- Call the bank again. They tell me the same story.
I'm basically going in circles.
Has anyone experienced this? I also tried another card. My guess is there's some problem with this phone and Google Pay. I searched the internet but haven't really found anything. Can I get Google Pay in-store working on a Chinese Mate 20 X?

Check out the posts made by stestesteste on this subject. He reported using Google pay on his AL00 in the UK with Barclays debit card.
I have found a nasty bug with my Pixel 6 Pro and Google Play. The bug currently makes it, so any purchases done through Google Play (including in-app purchases) don’t require authentication or biometric prompt even though both options to ask for biometric and ask to authorize every purchase enabled. They all get bypassed.
Here what I mean:
The main configuration page:
https://imgur.com/Xkw4Ssb
Purchases authentification:
https://imgur.com/BK8mzcQ
I have able to replicate that issue three times. I’ve factory reset phone and only kept the bare minimal. And every time I add my Mastercard credit card to my Google Pay, it makes it bypassing all security measures. So, my kids could take my phone and make my wallet cry. But what is strange is my debit card was added and it never did that bug. Mastercard asks to call the bank and authorize your phone. As soon as my card becomes active, the bug is back.
I’ve tried to contact Google about this issue, but I’ve had no one answering me. I don’t know what else to do. Anyone can verify, and see? Three other people confirmed the bug to me so far and they all Pixel phones (5, 4a, 6 pro). I have a video too, but I need to blur it out and I need a software for that
Phone: Pixel 6 Pro
App: Google Pay
Card: Mastercard
Good find! I hope you report it to google
I've reported it to Google Play, Google Pay, Pixel Hardware and Google general update and I've got yet a proper answer. Everyone just pass the puck asking me to do many things I've done regardless of me saying I've Factory reset without backup restore which is the shotgun approach.
I want to see if this issue is more widespread. I need more sample data. But I don't understand how it could be a problem only affecting me and not other users...

That is an entirely different problem. It can happen due to a host of reasons. Maybe your mastercard provider doesn't support Google Pay, maybe you used a VPN, maybe GPay didn't like your IP. It can sometimes be difficult to add cards to GPay. You are not rooted, are you? That makes GPay a bit more complicated.
m the card works great of course my other devices so i assume it is from the pixel

Currently with three tickets open, at Google Play, Google Pay and Google Hardware. All of them are giving me the same answer. Yet, I show video of the bug, they ignore it. I would appreciate if there were people here that can try and test this issue.
Else... I don't get how it could only affect me when my phone is factory fresh and has only a Mastercard credit card added to Google Pay.
Ticket was escalated higher, sent a bug report to Google. Awaiting more info on this bug.
If anyone here could try it on their Pixel phone, it would be appreciated.
From my findings.
Everything updated, Android 12, Google Play up to date
Google Pay with one credit card activated (in my case Mastercard)
Make a purchase of a cheap app. You can get it refund for free if it's the first time you buy it.
You will never get prompted for the authentication.
Thanks guys

disregard this message, sent without quoting or reply.
Follow-up, Google has been making me go back and forth with basic troubleshooting. I've got yet an answer to this bug. I'm trying to find more people with this same issue but seems I'm the only crazy one out here. *sigh*
To be continued!

Yes I do.
So. Google support is not doing anything and just ignoring my plea. I've end up with a RMA. Factory sealed phone. Up to date. No restore. Stock OS and only enter my card in Google Pay.
Bam. As soon as I do this. All purchases go thru without any authentication. Straight purchase.
I'm getting really tired by the lack of urgency on this matter from Google. This opens up a lot of issues for phone users with kids and also opens up a lot of room for accidental in-app purchases...
Anyway to go further with this issue ? This is insane. I can reproduce the issue everytime and all I'm getting from Google are emails saying. Hey, sync your accounts

Hit up some of the Android news sites like AndroidPolice and 9to5Google and contact the writers. I would bet they will write some articles on it.
