Oh ****. Vince has an Evo.

That's one thing I've been looking for on this phone (hoever, not very actively). I have to turnt the gain on the amp in my car to +4 to get it to where I don't have to crank the volume up to 30 under normal driving conditions.
In WinMo, it was as simple as finding the program's registry to lift gain restrictions...not so in Android =(.

In call sound has been working since nearly the beginning. Also this thread title is very informative.

Its pretty obvious thats not at all what he means...
He is talking about call volume being quiet, and no volume control so, no it has not been working....
I thought that this newest version might have been a tiny bit louder myself, but cant verify that, could totally be in my imagination.
I agree the title could be changed, and im not entirely sure this thread was needed, at all...

i think he meant the sound went UP. which if we could figure out why, would be very helpful b.c as it is, the in call volume is very low.
What apps did u install OP?
My bad, however, if the statement had been phrased a little better, there would have been no need for interpretation.
That's definately a very interesting discovery, what version of android are you using? The latest Froyo build? and maybe it has something to do with what you were doing right before you booted out from wm. were you in a call or something? Recording?
I'm sorry for the stupid title, I was just so surprised. xD
Actually, I wasn't running anything when I booted into android, and the sound was very low on a phone call. But then someone called me and the volume of the phone call startled me.
I don't have any apps having to do with sound anymore because of me having to delete my data.img a few weeks ago so the sound boost has nothing to do with that.
And, I'm running 2.1 with the launcher pro beta, but I'm not sure if that really matters, seeing as I didn't mess with anything xD

By the way, the in-call volume is still loud

Smaller volume steps?

Does anyone know of a way to make the volume scale (specifically for playing music) have more steps? For example, I'd frequently like listening to a volume halfway between muted and the lowest volume level. Is this possible?
Thanks!
I would love this as well
Try Audiomanager from the market. Works good for me.

I use Audiomanager, but that just makes it easy to control all the different volume levels - it doesn't introduce new ones, which is really what I'm looking for.
you should post these kind of questions in the general section...not development..

I believe that it will take some coding to enable more granular volume steps, so I felt like this section was appropriate. Mods, if you disagree with me, please move this to the General forum.

before I tried audiopara i used a program from warlock called increase volume 20% and it made it so loud that when i played music over the speakerphone it was too loud. I think that any louder would start too distort. I did find though that it increased the volume in the earpiece as well and for a while i had bad sound on phone calls. I uninstalled and installed audiopara but it didnt seem to do anything. I then reinstalled the increase volume 20% from warlock and the sound from the earpiece during phone calls seems fine. Try it and see what happens. I found the cab here on xda. Let me know your experience.
i see, I will test the warlock program out. Can you send me a link, or a forum that u found it in?

Just a suggestion, you should add a screen shot and edit with paint to show which button to press to avoid confusion =)
Done
i think i ever post this kind of bug on the thread, forgot which one.. but in my hand, the way to 'go around' this bug is "when you make any call (or receive) just press the volume button down, then press the volume up.. and voila, your front speaker works as they should be..
btw, it works for me guys, hope it works for you too..
thanks bro for this trick :victory:
Hello, guys
I just want to tell you that the bug described in the first post was already fixed in CM10.1 Alpha 3. Also, for as far as I know, it occurred only when the phone was set to Vibration or Sound + Vibration modes.
Credits to trocLas for the workaround posted here would be nice.
Also, for other interesting discussions or bug reports, please use the official CM10.1 discussions/bug reports thread here.
Also, since you're at it, you might want to read the first post in that thread before upgrading to Alpha 3.
Best regards

Tab S sound Boost, cannot find Mixer paths xml file? Help needed

I love my tab S and maybe this is the best screen I've seen my whole life.
But one thing bothers me that, I've been using the s and note devices from past 3 years, one thing I always did was Boost the sound for Speaker and the Headphone in the Mixer paths xml file.
I've searched this tab for a similar file and have got absolutely nothing.
Any good developer please help me out, if you can find that for it would be a great help

You could install my ROM and use the DSP manager, it also uses mixerpaths though a more serious answer is look at the comments it should point u in the right direction.

Can you please consider me a noob and help me out?
you can edit default_gain in system/etc
I thought xml edit only applied to CM/AOSP/GPe roms.
OP, did this end up working out for you?

I've attached some screen shots to what you need to modify to increase your external speakers along with headphones.
You'll need Root Explorer or equivalent.
Let me know if it helped.
It's best to raise the digital volume it sounds less distorted ...my setting are +12 to all digital volumes and sounds great
Just to to clarify, you only need to raise the digital volume? I'm going to give it a shot.

I have tried that and multiple others. Some work well, some dont.
None have given me what I am looking for which it the ability to boost things like system volume, notification volume, etc. Still looking for a way to do that.
The best that I can accomplish is boosting media volume via a music or video player. If that is all you are looking for then the equalizer and bass booster will work fine.
