Unlock Bell SGS - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

I have been unable to unlock my Bell SGS. Here's the history...upgraded to the Froyo version that made the location KOR (forget which version this was) but did the fix that removed the unlock PIN and SIM pin issue. Then I downgraded to the original Bell software and is now upgraded to the most recent Bell software via Kies. On the surface, looks like IMEI on phone matches the box, no real trace of the KOR (used a HEX editor on that nv file and it already said BMC) but tried to put a Fido sim card in, use the unlock code from varies methods and even tried the master code from Bell...nothing, won't unlock for any other carrier!! HELP!!!
Thanks

I had this same issue on my 1st galaxy s. I just returned it and the replacement unlocked with no issues.
One thing I didn't try was inputting the unfreeze code first. Might be worth a shot.
Put in the other providers sim card. When the unlock window comes up, enter the unfreeze code, then the unlock code and see how it goes.....

SIM Unlock problem!

Hey guys,
I recently called T-Mobile and asked for an unlock code for my Dash, but when I received it I got my friends SIM card to try and it said the code was incorrect. I typed i *#06# on my phone and the IMEI matches the one I gave them, so does anyone know what the problem is? I recently installed Kavana's 6.1 ROM, so would that be a reason why? Thanks!

The 4-digit PIN code on a SIM card is something different to a SIM lock - which code are you talking about?
I'm talking about an 8-digit unlock code I got from T-Mobile. I borrowed my friend's SIM (which is a Cingular SIM) so I could test to see if the unlock code worked, but it didn't.

The unlock code sent from T-Mobile should've worked... The only thing I could recommend would be to double-check the code they sent you. Make sure it's the same one you're entering. You said that the IMEI that pulled up after entering *#06# is the same as the one you first gave them. That should eliminate the IMEI as a potential problem.
I ran into this when I unlocked mine... What I ended up doing was rebooting, entering in the code with My T-Mobile SIM in, then switching to an non T-Mobile SIM after the unlock to make sure it was unlocked.. it was.

How do you enter the unlock code while using the T-Mobile SIM??? I always knew the phone to need a SIM of a different carrier.
Yeah I wanna know that too... I really want this thing unlocked! I appreciate all the help.
I should have been more clear. Reboot the device with the other providers SIM, the simlock dialog should kickin, then before you enter in the code take that SIM out and put yours in, enter the code then switch the cards again.. Thats how I got mine to work.
I used a Nextel SIM if it matters.
I've also heard that there has been success with a program called DASHv2Unlock, it forces the device into the simunlock mode without a forgien SIM in it. I was going to hunt it down but my method ended up working in the end
I was trying to change the theme on my shadow to shadow sliding panels.zip.However was promoted to load celecmd on my storage card and run the cmd. I don't know how to proceed from there cos i am not familiar with the cmds.Pls can somebody help me with this thing by outlining the cmd on this postp.i will appreciate the efforts from some one.

Foreign SIM doesn't prompt for unlock code -- how to unlock?

I have a SaskTel Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747M, baseband version I747MVLLE8) that is locked, and I want to unlock it. But when I insert a foreign SIM (from AT&T) I get no prompt for an unlock code. Instead it just says "No SIM card. Emergency calls only." I've contacted several of the online unlock code suppliers and they say without this prompt I can't unlock the phone. I've also tried to enter variations of the *7465625* code, but they do nothing at all. SaskTel says they don't provide unlock code. This despite the fact that I purchased the phone outright, and have no contract with them. Am I totally hooped, or is there some way I can get this phone unlocked?

try another SIM, maybe the one you're using is borked.
Try this

Possible, but I doubt it, since it works just fine in another phone. In any case I don't have another one to try.
Misread
#7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE#
I noticed in an earlier post, the place of the unlock code was after the #, it should be before. On the right track though. Probably just a typo.

That and probably every variation of it I can think of! I am wondering though, is this code internal only to the phone, or does it go to the cellular network? When I do type it, it does nothing, though if I send it I get an "Invalid USSD" message returned from the network.

this code doesn't work on the LTE variants of the SGS3. most of the multi-stage codes (####*###) don't work, you just end up with an error.
Correct as stated. Additionally, if you have a foreign micro sim, and you are not on a stock ROM, the unlock screen prompt will not show. I was running AOKP, and could not get the prompt to show, so I flashed back to stock, unlocked phone, then flashed back to AOKP, bc TW sucks!

This is what I was starting to suspect. Can you refer me to a good, really clear step by step procedure to do this? I've never done this with a phone, and since I live in a small town, I doubt I can find anyone to help me here. So a step by step would be nice. Thanks.

are you on a stock ROM?
i have a i747M and unlocked it with the at&t micro sim, so i know it works,
did u cut ur at&t sim down to size ? maybe u did it wrong and it wont recognize, or ur sim slot is ****ed up ....
ur best bet right now is to try another micro sim
Ok, I've now got my phone rooted. Can someone suggest how I can get the ROM set so that it will allow me to enter the unlock code when I insert a foreign SIM.
There's a 3rd potential method that hasn't been mentioned on here that we see working for most Samsung handsets. In fact, for some Samsung handsets (usually older ones) it is the only unlocking method that will work.
It is:
1. Turn on the phone with a non accepted or accepted SIM card inserted
2. Type #0111*CODE# replacing CODE with your network unlock code
However, if your service provider lock is active, then you'll need to use the code #0133*CODE# instead.
All unlocking methods (once you have the unlock code) are available here: http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/samsung-instructions.asp
Hope that helps.
Did you manage to unlock?
I'm facing the exact same issue. My S3 doesn't show the network unlock prompt when I insert a foreign SIM. Mine is locked to AT&T. It's also SGH-I747 model
You could try and unlock your phone as per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033225
Then try the SIM card after the phone is unlocked.
Oh, I believe this only works on Stock ROMS.

Follow the link Tybalt quoted, you will unlock your phone and the sim won't ask for an unlock code because well, it's unlocked.... Follow the instructions, you need to be on JB 4.11 for this to work, some have had success on custom roms but not many....you don't need to root to do this and make sure when you see the success code you have 40 at the end not 30... i did this a couple times... 30 I think basically means you have locked it again ... and in the instructions when it says wait 30 or 60 seconds... you really do have to wait.. don't be impatient....it's a huge thread with many many successes.....
Samsung Galaxy S3
I have the same issue but I have a sgh-i747 Samsung galaxy S3 i brought it to koodo and was told it was a compatible phone with the company when unlocked. The problem/question i have is When i insert my new simcard the screen will not display any prompt to input a unlock code. It just says emergency calls only or unregistered sim. I inserted my sim card into another s3 same model, software versions, different provider, and the phone asked for the unlock code right when powered on. So i tried and flashed a new firmware but its doing the same thing.
I called koodo and they gave me instructions to create a new apn of Koodo SP it did not make my phone prompt me for an unlock code.
When i send an email to any website about unlocking my phone they advice me not to purchase there product if my phones not prompting me for a unlock code that will it more then likely not work.
I've seen methods online of using these to input an unlock code "#0111*UNLOCKCODE#" or "#7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE#" but when i tell the unlock website this information this still tell me not to purchase there product and i mean many numerous websites. I do not want to buy an unlock code only to try to input it with these methods and have it not work. Which i highly dought it would because the normal 7465625 command doesnt work either.
I also tried this factory unlock and it did nothing
PLEASE HELP!?!?

Thank you so much for this!
Whenever I typed any variation of the #7465625 code I would get the "emergency calls only" message. #0111*CODE# did the trick!
The provider didn't even know this, the best they could come up with after numerous calls to their hotline is that the phone was broken and/or that the SIM card was badly inserted, thus I should mail them the phone to the other side of the country for unlocking. Would they even have known how to do it over there?
My grandma says thanks!

Can't Unlock from Rogers: Invalid MMI

I'm trying to unlock my Rogers SGS3, so I can pick up a paygo card while down in the U.S later this month. I purchased and received my unlock code through CellUnlocker.net yesterday.
However, no matter what I do I can't get any of the dial codes they give to work. They all result in "Connection problem or invalid MMI code." errors.
I've tried reverting to a backup of my rooted Rogers stock ROM, as other threads I've seen suggest that dial codes don't work on AOSP-based ROMs, but the results are still the same. *#06# works to retrieve my IMEI (worked under Jellybam 3.3.0 as well), and *#0011# works to bring up the Service Mode menu.
However, all the codes given by CellUnlocker.net in their email don't:
Different phones have different Unlock Code Input Instructions, Try the following Instructions in Order:
Method #1 Insert a Non accepted simcard in your phone and power on. Once finished loading your phone will ask you to enter a code, enter the Unlock Code
Note: Non Accepted Simcard is any simcard not from the original provider
Method #2 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
Method #3 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #0111*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
Method #4 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press #7465625*638*# Once prompted for code, enter the 8 digit Unlock Code.
If Phone says, "Code Accepted" or "Network Unlock Successful" or "Not Yet Personalized" your phone is fully Unlocked
--------------------------------------------
How do I know my Phone's Network is Fully Unlocked?
Go to the dial screen on your phone, and press *#7465625#
A menu will be displayed that will resemble the following...
1. [ ] Network lock
2. [ ] Subset lock
3. [ ] SP lock
If everything if OFF, then your phone is fully unlocked.

I haven't yet tried inserting a non-Rogers SIM card, because I don't know anyone with a phone that uses micro-SIMs. I'm also a bit wary to go and spend $20 on a Roam Mobility SIM card if I'm not going to be able to get it to work.
Any idea what might be the issue?
To verify that I am indeed running a stock ROM (as I restored from a backup I had labelled "Stock"):
Android version: 4.1.1
Baseband version: I747MVLDLK4
Kernel version: 3.0.31-538866
Build number: JRO03L.I747MVLDLK4
I believe you can't unlock without a different sim card.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Yeah. You're gonna need another SIM. Stop by a T-Mobile store & ask them politely. They will probably let you use one.
Sent from my Galaxy S3
Thanks for the comments. I went and picked up a Roam Mobility SIM card at lunch, and putting it in I was prompted to enter my unlock code.
All seems to be working now.
Just search around here there is a free way to unlock your phone. Lots of people have done it successfully

Note II N7100 not registered on network. help please

Hi all, I bought a new Galaxy Note II overseas in Malaysia in February. It is an original set fully network unlocked. I have tried using Vodafone New Zealand SIM card in it but to no avail. I tried flashing new modems and stock firmwares, ariza patch, backup and restore IMEI before and after flashing. My serial numbers and IMEI numbers are still the same and are matching to what is on the box.
If I insert a Malaysian SIM card it works on roaming mode since I am back in NZ, however if I insert a NZ SIM card and try to connect to the local network it says 'Unable to connect,' calling and messaging only results in 'Not registered to network.' And it only allows me to make emergency calls. My firmware is XXDMB2, baseband is ariza, kernel is Perseus.
I would be grateful for any help.

Just a sugestion to you, root the phone or install a pre-rooted ROM from drketan and then install Galaxy SIM Unlock to check and be sure that the phone is fully network unlocked and also not SIM restricted.
To check the SIM restriction make sure that under Details -Accepted MCC/MNC - it is writen "all" and not some numbers like 5021x were x can be any number.
Under the next line I expect your phone to have Network Lock -unlocked, because you could use any SIM and make SOS calls, but if the above line is showing some numbers instead of "all" that might be your problem.
It is worth checking this because the aplication is free to check the status of the locking.
My new Note 2 was locked, I got the official unlock code from my carrier, entered the unlock code, the Network Lock was showing as unlocked but the SIM restriction status was still showing as locked to my carrier , under Accepted MCC/MNC I had my operator network code instead of "all".
I paid 3 euro and unlocked my phone fully with the Galaxy SIM Unlock, small price for a full unlock if your phone is rooted.
Good luck

The Serial Number is showing 000000000000 on mine as well, this is not an issue it must be a bug in the tool.
Use some other tool or in Settings- About Device - Staus - Serial Number to display the S/N if you want to make sure that it is the same with the one from the box.
The Product Code should be GT-N7100xxxyyy, where xxx is the HW version and yyy is the CSC (country sales code) for the country/carrier.
This Not Active product code, could be the result of your problem and it might signal that your nv_data.bin and md5 files don't match.
I found an old post for a Galaxy S phone where changing the phone code or modifing the nv_data.bin is an issue and the SIM won't register.
I am sure that there are more topics about this but I'll post the link for the Galaxy S issue where you can start investigating more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780509
The rest looks OK and your phone looks fully unlocked.
Here is a N7100 topic about the product code.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045278
tried galaxy s/s2/s3 csc changertried galaxy s/s2/s3 csc changerCheck Fus is the only apk that will show the product code of your device with no need for root.
Unfortunately the apk doesn't work for the original purpose but at least it reads your product code.
Also it looks that the md5 checksum file is not autogenerating anymore if you edited the nv_data.bin and deleted the md5 file.
You need to restore the original bin and md5 file from an original efs backup.
I've just noticed that in your product code I can still see the CSC code as BTU.
Here is some info on the CSC and a free tool right at the end of the post if you need to change it, but it needs root and it will wipe your phone.
The apk is "galaxy s/s2/s3 csc changer".
http://droidviews.com/2012/how-to-change-csc-in-samsung-galaxy-phones/
Good luck, but I think you are in trouble and maybe only Samsung official service might be your salvation.
Wipe your root and install an official ROM before sending it to Samsung with the "product code missing" fault.
You may wish to hide the imei number as that is the one unique number that gives your phone an identity.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
Product code is not active no matter what. I edited the nv_data.bin, made a backup of it, and did not delete the md5 file. I'll restore it and send it to Samsung service center. Thanks for the help brother, would've donated if possible but I'm a broke uni student
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045278
Editing the nv_data.bin will make the md5 original file useless because the checksum is different and you can't generate a valid md5 file anymore to match a modiffied nv_data.bin file.
Copying/Restoring the original nv_data.bin and original md5 files from a backup and set the permissions right, as in the Galaxy S topic might help.
Hello, did you solve your problem? I'm facing a similar issue with my N7100, I got the same message not registered on network and my sim isn't recognized. How did you fix it?

Htc sprint prepaid unlock window

Hi,
Usually when we put a foreign sim card into a phone that is locked into a carrier, in my case sprint, the phone will ask me for a unlock code to put in. Strangely when I put another (bell Canada) sum into my new sprint prepaid phone it just remind me that the sim card is invalid but no pop up window to enter an unlock code. There is a website that will generate a unique config.dat based on imei serial and flash in hboot menu. This doesn't work unfortunately. I also paid sunshine to have s-off and changed my cid to the Super one 11111111, still not working.
Now I have sorta crazy idea. There are other variant of single sim roms that may be able to bring up the sim unlock code window but there is no way I can flash it since it always checks my darn model id and present a code 41 error in facebook. Is there anyway I can finally manage to enter an unlock code for my sim because I loved the phone so much.
Thanks!
I would like to do this as well with my Koodo Sim.
