Hello gents,
I'm having some issues with my signal and keeping a continuous 3G connections. I recently got the new 2.15.00.09.01 radio update. Unless a wimax update is automatic, I haven't flashed anything wimax.
I can't figure out what to do. I checked my phones hardware info and everything I previously mentioned is unavailable, and I'm not sure if that's normal :/ I'm having problems receiving phone calls and text messages.
Please help gents. It's utterly annoying to receive text messages several hours late. Haha.
Thanks in advance.
Reflash the radio COMBO here from Calkulin...: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485 It'll update all your radios to the latest. The MAC addr for all, Wifi, Blutooth and 4G won't show up in the phone information until you turn them all on. Turn them on in settings or put the appropriate widgets on your home pages and control them from there.

i live in the DFW area, and have checked the map and should be good on the 4g signal.
Yet, on my evo, and I have only been connected to 4g maybe twice and for maybe a minute. And only after a restart of the phone. Once I push the power button to put the phone to sleep, 4g goes away, the widget sticks and 3g connects.
My widget (and in wireless settings) always says "turning on..."
i do not have a rooted phone, I have done the recent OTA update.
baseband #: 1.39.00.05.31
build is 132.651.6 - hardaware ver 0003
I have read the fourms, and it seems i already have the updated Radio version
also
I have my msl number, and I have set my idle time to 300, but that does not change anything
should I take my phone back, or wait for this "soon" to happen OTA update I've read about (not the 2.2, but the one that supposedly fixes the wi-fi stuff and updates bluetooth voice dial)?
any other suggestions?
thanks in advance.
I had a problem with 4G connecting in the DFW area after doing the OTA, and rebooting my phone fixed the problem. Have you tried that? There's also a new PRL update that may help. You should be on version 60667.
FWIW, as far as I can tell the 4G speeds in the DFW area suck ballz. Most of the time 3G works faster than 4G does for me. YMMV.
Since it is not rooted I would take it back to where you got it and see if they have had anyone has gotten a good 4g signal there. If they have it sounds like you have an issue with the 4g radio(???) and it needs to be replaced. I hope it works out for you.
thanks for the fast reply
So i rooted my phone over a week ago, and tried out many different roms. Everything was going fine, until i noticed yesterday that i kept losing voice and data connection. I tried updating to the latest radio which was out today 5.09.00.20, but still have the issue.
The only workaround i've found so far is to set the network mode to GSM only. But obviously it's not very practical for a phone like the desire. When i have it on GSM/WCDMA Auto, it keeps voice and data on for about a minute, then i lose it. And when it's on, i still can't make any calls. But i can make and receive calls fine on GSM only.
Anybody have a clue what's going on here? I tried calling T-Mobile, but they were as useless as always. Apparently there was an issue on the 29th, which is now resolved, and they refreshed something on my profile. So i dunno if rooting/flashing my Desire has caused this or if it's some network outage.
I'm currently running the latest DeFrost rom. I've tried SenseFroyo (Opendesire), LeeDroid & i'm now running the official 2.2 sense rom.
I've also been having problems when connected via 3G for the past few days, but only when I'm at home (so I think it's a specific cell). The signal indicator shows a good signal but attempting to use the internet over 3G just times out, and my voice calls keep getting dropped.
Like you I can work around the problems by switching to GSM only.
I think it might not be a problem with my phone though, because I've tried putting my SIM card in my Nokia N95 and the internet doesn't work over 3G on that either (internet works using GSM on N95). I did manage to make a call on my N95 when my Desire was dropping both incoming and outgoing calls within seconds though.
Weird! I'm going to give it a few days and report it to T-Mobile if it's still happening.
It's fixed for me now. I guess it was a network outage
searched the whole site and couldn't find an answer, so here's hoping.
I can't seem to get a straight answer whether this is normal or not. But when I'm on 3g or 4g on my White Evo HW 0003 running Myns I receive MMS perfectly fine.
If I'm on WiFi and receive an MMS it'll say downloading and end up failing, if I kill the wifi connection it downloads the photo right away.
My wife has a stock Evo with no root or rom, and the latest build just like me . 3.30.651.3 and the same happens on hers. Only difference is, while on wifi she'll eventually (after about 20 minutes) receive the picture sent.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
there is no mms over wifi, it will turn on the 3g to download it even with wifi running and wont tell you. if you had mobile networking turned off and only ran wifi you wouldnt even get a text

Really,
So the reason it worked in the past is because it would do it when it wanted? Well that's great
I'd question that one further.
I am only on 1x at home (airave) and WiFi. I've always had a problem getting picture/ MMS while on the airave+WiFi combo until recently. Now I am able to download and receive pictures from WiFi it seems.
Hi Guys,
So, I've been using the GNex for about a month. I moved to this phone from a Moto Atrix and here is what I have noticed and have looked around but didn't see any good answers to these questions I am having. Hopefully I get some answers here.
Device info:
GNex GSM version on ATT.
Running JB 4.1.1 Stock with Trinity Kernel (rooted and bootloader unlocked).
Issue #1: I get really bad reception at work. But, when I leave the building, my phone doesn't automaticaly connect back to the network. Sometimes, if I don't check my phone, it's been like that all night long until the next day when I have tried to make a call and it said "No Network Available" and I have to either reboot or toggle airplane mode to get back on the network. Am I missing something? In my past experience with other devices, they try to automatically connect back to the network when they loose connectivity. Also, if I get in an elevator during a call and the call gets dropped due to network unavailability, it doesn't connect back to the network and I have to toggle airplane mode. Has anyone else had this issue?
Issue#2: This is with the stock mail app. Specifically the search in this mail app. No matter what, it always returns zero results. Has anyone had this issue with the Mail App? If I use the Gmail app, it works fine. That's what I am using now, but am curious as to what I may be missing that make it not return any search results in the stock mail app.
Q3: Speed Dial: How do you set speed dial on the dialer? Is it even supported?
thanks in advance,
vG

it could be to do with your radio, what version is it? baseband version in about phone. im no expert but when i flashed a jellybean rom i had to update my radio afterwards cause my signal was dropping alot. i also had the same problem later on but that was down to my network operator. before i realised it was them i googled my problem and a few forums suggested that my sim card was goosed. so maybe check those three possibilities? i cant help with the other two issues unfortunately but good luck sorting it out!

Ever since updating to ICS I have been having an issue where my data connection completely freezes or drops. The signal strength icon always shows a strong signal, but the yellow-orange send and receive bars next to the 4G LTE icon stop. During this time I can not receive texts either. I usually just put the phone in to airplane mode and then off airplane mode to restore the connection. I know others have been having this problem as I saw several comments on AT&T support, but no solutions to fix this were listed. If there is another thread please redirect me to that. My phone is completely stock, never rooted or had any customizations done. I have replaced 2 SIM cards and done multiple factory resets. Any info you guys can provide would be great, Thanks!
