Sorry for the title. But is there a way to keep the WiFi connection active even when the phone sleeps.
My problem is when listening to slacker after the phone sleeps I loose the connection and slacker pauses. Slacker will continue as soon as I power up the phone.
This doesn't happen when on 3g.
Anyone know a setting to help with this issue.

Thanks. I knew it was somewhere. Just couldn't remember. Only problem now is, it was already set to never, and I think it was sleeping anyway. I'll try and reser it and seed it sticks.

**SOLVED** Need to "change the Wi-Fi sleep policy to "Never"." as per Drumrocker's instructions. Menu (Home Screen) -> Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Wi-Fi Settings -> Menu -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi Sleep Policy -> NEVER
I'm running Calkulin 2.8.1, which I installed on the EL29 Kernel, but have since switched my Kernel to Rouge 1.3.0. Also using the ICS 2.2 Theme. EL29 Modem.
Whenever I'm home, I use the WIFI connection to save battery. I've noticed, though, that when I take my phone out of sleep mode that the 3G will be connected. As soon as I unlock the phone, the WIFI kicks in and the 3G turns off.
Has anyone else noticed a similar issue? It's not a big deal, really, but I'm sure a lot of people here are like me and want to have everything running perfectly on their phones.
Perfectly normal, just change the Wi-Fi sleep policy to "Never".

This. Your wifi radio is powering off when you put your phone to sleep.
Problem has been solved. Thank you, chaps. I felt like quite the idiot fumbling around for 3 minutes before I realized I needed to hit the "Menu" button while inside of the "WIFI Options" screen...but problem solved nonetheless.
I've tried to duplicate this on mine a while back but even with the wifi sleep policy on it will never fall back to 3g. It would still be on wifi. Is that normal?

Ray, are you setting the WiFi Sleep Policy to "Never"?

Thanks for posting this; I was wondering myself! That's kind of counter-intuitive. Sort of like a "yo dawg, I heard you like menus...." moment.

Yes. I always have it on never but that same night I posted I decided to try again. Turned wifi on and set it to sleep when screen off. Checked back in 20 mins hit power button it was on wifi. Left it over night woke up and hit power button still connected to wifi. Either my wifi doesn't sleep or it connects right back mighty fast lol

worked great thanks...
No problem
That just increases the time it takes to sleep to 5 mins the most. It still sleeps after that. If u want to permanently disable idle mode you will need to ##DEBUG# and then enter lock code 777468. Go to Wimax CT and change the Idle Mode from 1 = On to 0 = Off. No more sleeping at all but battery will drain faster.. Also push notifications works great when u completely disable the idle sleep, unlike when it's set to on. It won't push if ur 4g connection is on zzz until another app requires data and activates 4g then you'll receive a late push which comes in super late. I have three batteries so I disable it just for the push notifications..

Good day. I'm using the Codename Android 3.6.5 ROM and I'm noticing a strange bug over there, which also met in CM10. When Wifi is turned on, if you put the phone in standby mode, simply the connection is disabled, and only returns after the phone comes out of standby.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
PS: No topic posted in the ROM, because I have to have 10 post and bla bla bla, so I can post there.

My friend, thank you for your help!
On the screen, I believe it will stay the same size, which for me, is the most "usable".

Very Funny! kkkkkkkkkkk
Under WiFi Settings > Advanced > Keep Wifi on During Sleep I've got it set to "Only When Plugged In" to save some battery life.
However, the phone keeps changing the setting back to "Always".
Any ideas why?
Thanks.
Can't tell you why, but.... unless I'm mistaken, leaving this setting to "Always" is the preferred setting for battery life.
WiFi is more energy friendly than 3g/LTE.
Not sure about anyone else's phone, but when set to "always", the phone never goes to sleep.

Guys the battery on my s6 edge has been draining just by sitting here. Anyone else having this issue?

Yeah I've been seeing some serious battery drain. Way more than I'd expect with the battery size. Not sure what's going on.
Turning on your Wifi will kill your battery. I've had to restart my phone to make it stop sometimes. Makes me wonder if this is why the nexus skipped 5.0.2.
That may very well be the reason why nexus skipped it. Juding by the previous samsung record, it will be a while till we get 5.1

Did you have Wifi on at any point since your last restart? I've had to reboot the device to fix it.
Try turning off volte. That seems to help.

This is what i hate so much... you pay ridiculous amount of money to buy a "Smartphone" but then you have to turn all these features of to make it work efficiently.
I'm sure it's just a software bug on T-Mobile, but I was able to fix my issue by turning off WiFi, completely charging the phone, and restarting. WiFi is what causes it, not sure why though.

Go to settings and search for "Phone" from there you can get into call settings.

Did you also disable the "wifi during sleep" that is used even if wifi is off? Can't remember where it is. Maybe advanced Wifi or in Location settings. Just curious. Thanks!

Gotcha. I was curious but also sort of pointing out that even with Wifi turned off, the phone will still use Wifi for location unless you specifically disable that option. It may or may not make any difference at all, but since there's a bug then it's possible that ANY use of wifi is draining more than it should (even if it's just intermittently every few minutes for location checking).

If the WiFi being used during sleep is causing any issues, the issue is small enough that it is not showing up on my battery usage page.

Well for example. I have had Wifi turned off since before unplugging my phone this morning (8 hours ago). Despite that, it has been used for 29 minutes because I didn't have that option (use wifi for location even when it's off) disabled.
Because of this, I'm disabling that location feature as well for now. I bet that's about 30 minutes my phone has been held "awake" due to this stupid bug!

If it's causing issues for you then turn it off. For me it wasn't enough of an issue to disable WiFi during sleep.

if you go to call options in the settings menu or you can go to the oem dialer and click on more in the upper right hand corner of the screen the option for it should be under setting in that drop down menu
