Rooting isn't that bad at all man, just make sure to follow the instructions, and make sure, whatever you do - if you're updating your radio, never install the same file twice!
Hope this helps!
Let us know how it goes.

So after I get the drivers set up on the computer, do I just run Unrevoked?

[Q] unrEVOked 3 + SimpleRoot Possible?

Hi,
My main issue is that i want to do the simpleroot to unlock the nand and gain full root.
The problem is that my Evo is "rooted" with unrevoked 3 at OTA 1.47
I want would like to know if its safe to run simple root while having unrevoked 3.
I need some help here guru's!.
I want to start using the CM or the DamageControl ROMS.
Thank you in advance guyz!
I think this has been asked and answered, but I'm pretty sure it's safe to just run SR over the top. If you're really worried, can't you uninstall Unrevoked using an uninstaller app, and then do SR?
The reason I'm pretty sure it's fine is that several rooting guides recommend using Unrevoked to partially root so you can install Titanium Backup and backup your apps and such, then do a full root afterwards. And since SR is just an automated manual root, it should be no problem.
Even so, you should root manually if you want to learn. Just my opinion, though.
Thanx, ill try it! Thanx for your help!

I was in your same boot buddy. The problem isn't rooting your phone if you used the Unrevoked method. It's unlocking the nand that your having issues with. What I did after much trial and effort is using the adw commands to unlock the nand on my phone. Simpleroot won't work on your phone if you used Unrevoked. Well, I couldn't get it to work.
If you still have your phone rooted with Unrevoked follow this link and it'll hook you up.

It seems hard, but it was actually pretty easy.

That is exactly how I did it. I wanted a nand backup of my stock(just in case), so I did Unrevoked3 first. Once I did the backup, I used the simpleroot 1.47......worked perfectly
Thank guyz , im going To try both methods. And ill let you know the outcome. Thaaaanks

FWIW:
I was rooted with Unrevoked3 and loading Titanium Backup didn't work. TB said I didn't have full root access.
I ran the first half (step 1) of SimpleRoot last night on top of Unrevoked3.
At this point I don't know how to check to see if nand is unlocked or not, but I was able to flash a Froyo ROM and now Titanium Backup works as well.
SOLVED!

Vaelpak 3.2 RC2

[Q] Root with unrevoked

Hi,
Is it safe to root the HTC Wildfire with unrevoked?
Because I read on a few forums that people had problems with unrevoked and it bricked the phones for 3/4 people.
If it isn't safe to use, is there another way to root the phone (a safer way).
And don't explain it to hard because it's my first phone I will be rooting
Thanks!
Do you have official 2.2 (froyo)?

Root for 2.2.1 HTC Incredible 2 (Never upgraded to Gingerbread). How do I?

Hey guys, i've searched the forums and can't find the root method for 2.2.1 for the Incredible 2. Anyone have a link / guide / downloads on how to do so? Thanks in advance!

Tried that, doesn't work. It gets root, but when it comes to S-OFF, it fails. (Watching the Bootloader, when it reboots, it doesn't get S-OFF and the Rev tool fails)
Im pretty sure you have to upgrade to GB. They removed the exploit for froyo.
Phone has a bad ESN, is there a way to upgrade without root?
Yes run the official ruu from bootloader

This will upgrade without root? I'll try it out, and hope for the best.

You are my new hero. This worked flawlessly. Found the US Release of 2.3.3 on RootzWiki, and flashed it via H-BOOT. Was able to use the revolutionary tool to root after that.
glad to help
where is the offical 2.3.3 release?
How do I flash just with turning hboot? and where is this file, i just picked up a INC2 and it had 2.2.1
Here you go
http://www.filefactory.com/file/ccf....01.0622_NV_VZW1.92_release_199487_signed.exe
You will need to install the htc drivers from unrevovked site too.
Now you can get root.
Root
Hello, can you give me a more detailed explanation please? I have 2.2.1, and what rom do you recomend?

Try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751796
I haven't kept up to date with it, but a lot of info on there, this thread is really out-dated.
After rooting, if you like Sense - go to Mac's Ascension Oblivion or Viper (or even Skyraider Zeus - Gingerbread if you can find a link). For AOSP, try chillybean's multitude of Jellybean roms or unofficial CM7 (by Nitsua).

Best rooting method these days?

Just got a new replacement phone today and can't wait to root it! Is there a (big) difference between the different ones?
I'm looking for something that would be relatively easy to root/unroot if needed.
Depends:
Gingerbread > use revolutionary > revolutionary.io
Froyo > use unrevoked > unrevoked.com
I have the newest version. I believe its 2.3.3 Does that help?

That's gingerbread, so go to revolutionary.io . All the instructions/files you need are there.
Hmm.. mind if I ask why revolutionary.io is better than revolutionary, and why they're better than other methods?

Not that its better, but revolutionary works only on gingerbread, and unrevoked is for froyo.

revolutionary.io is the website where you download the revolutionary software. As far as which is better for your situation, you're only option is the revolutionary software. When the evo 4g got its update to gingerbread, they locked down the phone and all previous ways of rooting. it took a few months but the revolutionary team figured out a way around it.
if you need instructions on how to root, pm me and ill be happy to help
