I guess I'm one of the few who actually like the Espresso Sense. I'm looking for a ROM that has Espresso Sense, apps2sd, and a bunch of bloatware removed. Is there such a thing at the moment?
slidemeroot5r1 next time why not look around before posting
Nice reply, asshat. I looked at each of the more popular ROMs on this forum before posting. I even looked on the AndroidSpin developer site for slidemeroot5 and either it was not posted that this includes sense or I missed it. That is why I posted a question on the Q&A forum. That is its purpose.
Ive been on this site since before douchebags like yourself started overwhelming this place. No wonder serious developers are beginning to leave for other outlets.
Next time why don't you think before posting.

If you read this thread then you would have not needed to make this post. In big bold green letters it says something to the effect of
"The First Roms Were Smooth as ESPRESSO!!!"
Hmm I wonder if that means the the listed Roms in that section still have Espresso??????
Maybe you should read a little more.
Damn it even tells me which ROMS dont have sense. NICE!!!!!!
If those "headings" weren't trying to be cutsie and were actually useful to the reader, THEN there wouldn't be a need for this post.
First rule of communication is if it is not clear to the intended target, communication is not effective.
But, whatever. Thanks for answering my question, even if or was in a douchy way.

A very good morning to all admins and mods!
As new ROMs and builds of Android for HD2 keep popping up, I think there is a need for a subforum for Android ROMs within Android for HD2 section so as to not mix all general threads with the ROM threads.
thanks for reading!
Perhaps Android HD2 Q&A and HD2 Android Roms within the main hd2 section?
Sounds ok tbh - but then what about winmo roms (that often come with someone else's android) designed to solely run android versus android builds? where do you draw the line?
The winmo ROMs should stay in the winmo ROM thread logically IMHO.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Yeah, but if you see some rom makers - like Energy and Chucky I think have posted 'android focused' Roms in the android section
so it has got a bit confusing tbh.

Hopefully with the markers, the forum can stay organized. If there's a specific thread that needs to be moved/deleted/better organized, feel free to ping me or another moderator.
i posted this but i wanted it to be more visable
I would like to suggest not just a Q&A thread but a subsection dedicated to this.
The reason why is because to many random questions that have been answered before I being posted in the main section. I value all the members that we have but id like to see the forum's being used more productively.
I noticed in the Q&A thread a lot of peoples questions had been skipped over. I believe this is do to the number of post that get added to this thread at any one time.
I think that if we had a sub-section just for questions less flaming would go on. Also there wouldnt be a need for double post as these topics would have their own thread. I believe it would make the mods life easier to control all the unneed post without having to drop the ban hammer.
also there is a lot of information in the other threads that are about android. I think that needs to be highlighted so that the dev's dont have to deal with the I'm knew to android questions.
I have put a lot of thought into this and I would just like for us to get along.
mskip or joshkoss or dharvey would you please consider this Idea.
If anyone else supports this idea please say so. I did not give this post its own thread because I felt I would be adding to the problems of random uneeded threads. I also tried not to call anyone out so please dont be offended.
I like the idea. Let us see if anyone else like it too.

1. Any rom posted must be listed in a Roms sticky for each device.
2. Any kernel used or posted must be posted also in a Kernel sticky for each device.
3. Any updates to either must be updated in said sticky.
4. Sticky posts should be maintained to be current, not up to date as of a year ago. Look at Desire HD sticky, it suggests to go to the complete desire hd info thread, and it is current as of last May.
5. MD5 or other checksums for all!
It is hard to find the CURRENT version of a kernel, or radio because there is no kernel section, and the radio/ril threads do not have all the radios/ril in the OP. Yes I search, yes I read, in fact I read many threads every day, but it is difficult to figure out where the right or newest version is if they aren't all together. It has become a big mishmosh of information. The mods try to keep posts relevant to thread, but they need to help implement a better structure for the actual files.
This isn't a bash against mods, so calm down, just a suggestion to improve the site for everyone and reduce the number of garbage posts that exist because of disorganization.

It's really about consistency and an easy way to find the information you're look for. I think a WIKI along with editable lists would be much more maintainable than a single thread to represent very different things. And then have discussions go on in the background.
Having discussions over new roms and [ROM], [KERNEL], [HBOOT] and [etc] releases in the same subforum leads to a confusing experience. Not to mention many different subforums per device, and seeing users posting questions to not so relevant forums (or not having permission to post to the right forum). The user experience is quite aggravating, actually...
But I don't think Forums are an easy way to handle discussions, anyhow. Once you get to more than a few pages in a thread, it becomes hard to track all the information that's going on, even though it's all available publicly.
It would be nice if posts that were 'thanked' were shown with higher priority vs. the ones that weren't. Or maybe something a la reddit with its upvotes (but that has its own set of problems too).

I agree with this one but this has been already answered by one of the modes - no green light from the XDA mgmnt for the sep. section for i9001.
We need a site mirrored on this site except with no comments, just the basic skeleton. Newbies can start there, answer and ask any questions and developers can choose to respond to stupid questions if they wish. This site will be a time trial site where spammers and the developmentally challenged can be routed out early on. Existing members will fear being sent to the kinder garden site and so will also follow the rules etc.

What about linking a thread by category or handset vendor? For example, thread "Xperia Mini Pro active development" will be placed in "android development" category and "Sony Xperia" category. Both are the same thread. It's not a clone thread, but lonking thread, so one thread is original and another thread is a linked thread points to original thread (just like 'ln -s' in linux). So everyone can browse it from any category they used to be.

It is not done do the fact we are all tired of hearing the same question over and over again what's the best rom what's a solid stable rom and they all get closed. Each rom works different for everyone. What's good to one is utter crap to another and your topic will only start a flaming war hence the reason why such threads are closed. Only you can tell what's good for you by trying a few out or reading comments on the devs threads. Hmm I think I hear zels footsteps.

Might be nice to centralize it though. No comments, just a pure poll. (Not sure if there's a way to do that.) It might cut down on the one-post immediately-closed "which is the best ROM" threads.
A poll with no comments may work.

Yeah, I know about that, but I see a lot of threads opened that basically ask "I'm new, what is the most popular/best/favorite ROM?" The index gives a good list of available ROMs, but it doesn't shed a lot of light on how many people use each one, which seems to be what newbies would like to know (to help them decide which to install). Maybe a poll would cut down on such threads. I've PMed a mod to see if such a poll would be well-received.

I didn't mean that devs work isn't priceless, of course that is commendable!! And its not strict comparing either.. I just meant that one should have idea about new trending romS and also how many people are using which rom.... I agree with a poll with no comments, just a simple poll with rom names allowing members to state what they are using, we don't need to know their reasons why.
One thing I don't always understand is people read threads, see what features the rom has but still want other people to tell them.... Just install it and have a look yourself! Most common case I've seen is in the Sabsa Prime thread as it's what I use, people ask for updates and then when one comes along, they ask people to try it out and report back if it's worth updating. Grrrrr!! It's your phone, you want the updates so try it out and see if it suits YOU. Simples.

I saw your PM yesterday and had been giving it some thought. It looks like my co-moderator has contacted you already and let you know that the system will lock the poll as part of closing thread. Even if it was possible to separate the two, I'd be inclined to close down polls like the one you suggest. While some of you might think a poll like this a good idea, it smells a bit too much like a popularity contest.
Some of you may already know that many moderators in other forums have a wholesale ban on "Best ROM" threads. This is because a lot of these threads tend to be a breeding ground for rivalries and disrespecting others' work that can degenerate into infighting and other nastiness. I don't want to be heavy-handed on this topic because I see some benefit to discussions that compare/contrast ROMs and kernels IF they are done objectively and with respect for others. The last part of this is the most important here.
You might have already seen comments that say, "there is no best, try it and see what you like" and that's true. We all have different needs and likes, so there can be no best, but some sharing of knowledge and experiences with various ROMs can be helpful to others. Again, all of this needs to be done objectively and with respect for others. There's already a thread in General with many opinions and nobody's been really causing any trouble there, so I suggest all of you continue those discussions there. Please... no "best" polls.
I'm sorry to threadjack this from the OP, but since the idea has been shot down, I welcome your thoughts on the matter. If you don't want to air it out publicly, my PM box is always open.

Thanks for explaining. I just thought that a more centralized and easy-to-read format would help newbies who are confused when they first see that (seemingly endless) list of ROM threads that is so appealing to those of us who've been around a little longer. But I respect your position and it makes sense. Also, without the comment-locked-forum option, I agree that these types of threads do tend to degenerate.
I'm looking for a stable 4.4 which would be as stable as possible. The reason for this is that I use my Nexus for alarm clock and it's really unpleasant if I find it in SOD when I oversleep. I don't really need so much additional features, it's a bonus though, but it's more important that it's fast and bugless.
Are there any or should I stay on Cataclysm 4.3?
Well, you can only reliably know which ROM is the most stable by trying them yourself. That's part of the culture of XDA, to try ROMs from different developers and then to give feedback on them.
As for me, I just installed the latest CM11 nightly and it seems reasonably stable. Will test the battery life and stability for a few more days after installing some apps. Will try XenonHD next if this one isn't stable enough or has poor battery life. The phone does get hot when I'm running heavy applications and games, which is the only problem I have noticed so far.
Im running the CM11 Nightlies as well and cant complain at all. Havent had any issues with any of them. I usually update every couple days to the latest nightly.
If it's just using the device as an alarm, then CM11 nightlies would be quite enough. I've been using my own GNex as an alarm too.
Sent from Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE @ CM11
I've read through several ROM threads that a lot of them have have slowdowns and lags. Is that also the case for CM11? How about other CM based ROMs, like CM-remix?
Can't say much about other roms (aside from CM i've only ever tried AOKP jb-mr2 briefly), i'm on CM11 M2 right now and i can say it's smooth and has no hiccups and lags - much better than stock 4.3 and cm10.2 which i had beforehand.
I'm also using the device as an alarm clock and it works well.
Seriously? How many times do people have to be told that threads like this are against XDA rules. If you want a stable rom then try some roms out yourself and decide what you prefer for yourself. This is a development community meant for people that want to take the initiative to learn and do for themselves not a place for people to have others do their work for them.
Do some reading and you'll surely find the answers you seek.

a stock 4.4.2 build would be great.
if anyone finds any decent roms + a good 4.4 kernel (Franco/Faux) or two let me know.
Nephilim, sorry, I thought that it's forbidden to open only general ROM comparison threads, but I'm asking only for the ideas of pretty specific needs. You could also take this thread as a discussion if 4.4 ROMs in general are really stable enough for everyday use.
Not all of us have time to test every build of every ROM, because it would take a bit too much. That's why we have a community here to ask others for their opinion and experiences. At least that's how I imagine it, but of course, I might be wrong.

No it isnt illegal. But these threads are pointless... There is no best ROM so these threads will never be solved/answered. And the devs work hard to build a ROM and then some people in a thread will tell him his ROM sucks and the other one is better.. Its personal preference anyway. And every ROM is stable otherwise they wouldnt be released on xda (except when told otherwise or in beta etc.). Thats the whole point. There are tons of these threads. They are just useless. Just try out a ROM and if it suits your needs be happy and thank the developer and if you arent just move on to the next one.

My problem is that if you aren't willing to put in the work and try roms yourself you have no business on a development forum. Asking others is just looking for someone else to do the work for you. Threads like this are basically spam because any info you need can be found in the threads made for each rom. If you are asking in a thread like this you are definitely lazy because you obviously dont want to put in the effort of finding the information by reading the rom threads. I'd fully agree with your comments, IF this thread was posted in development section, but it's not, it's in the GENERAL section.
So I don't see why NORMAL users(AKA non-flashaholics) can't freely discuss which ROM they prefer, regardless of stability.
BTW
I've tried out a lot of different/newer ROM's from 4.1 to 4.4.2 yet every time I've still went back to using PA 4.1.2 for over a year now, since no other ROM have the exact same great features I enjoy using daily.
Also I don't see why any Developer would really care if certain people dislike their ROM's, seeing as the whole reason they created one would be because they disliked the other ROM's available and wanted to build one them selves to their liking, many using the same features from other developers, just with their own tweaks.
Which is what I'm thinking I'll have learn to do since every ROM I've tested has some feature that's just not working as I'd like.
You suggesting every user go and test out every ROM just means there will be more individual threads created complaining about every ROM they flash/test.
So don't you think it's better to have 1 or 2 main ROM version threads in the GENERAL section to DISCUSS different individual Rom's in the GENERAL matter?
In other words if you don't really have anything to help out in the thread topic/discussion then just don't view it.
I personally enjoy reading about what others have to say, likely saving me time and headache from having to test out every Rom's myself.
I very much doubt there would be as many Rom's available as there are today if nobody discussed them.
Wasn't that the whole point of having an open sourced android OS?

First of all, threads like this would not be constantly deleted by Senior Moderators if they were allowed. Next, I never once said that everyone should go and try every rom. I said that people need to go to the rom threads and READ, if the rom seems like something they would like to try then they should flash it, if not move onto another rom. Next, after flashing the said rom they are trying they can READ the thread pertaining to said rom to find answers to their questions.
You see where I am going here?
There is NO REASON for threads like this. All the information anyone could need can be found in the rom threads. If an individual needs to make a thread like this it just says that they are too lazy to read all the information that is already provided in multiple threads, available to everyone. If you want to discuss a rom then make a community on Google+, I already have done the same. This site is called XDA Developers. If you have questions about a rom then read the thread about the rom and if you do not see the question you have already asked then go ahead and ask it.
If you want to make a thread here in the general section to discuss a rom you have already flashed and are running, that would not be a big issue either but..... Making a thread simply to ask others to tell you which rom is most stable or which rom is the best serve no purpose but to congest areas of XDA with useless spam.
If you are here, you have either rooted your device or plan to, either way if you are here for that then you have enough brains to read and gain knowledge the correct way by doing the legwork yourself.
If the amount of effort you put into trying to debate my legitimate reasons why this thread does not belong was put into discovering roms for yourself then there would never be a need for anyone to make a thread like this.
Bottomline, only lazy people make threads like this and XDA is for forum for adults seeking to enhance their knowledge of mobile development by way of contribution, not a G+ community to request everyone do your work for you while you sit around posting screenshots of your homescreen and icon theme.
Not a thing anyone responds to me with will justify these type of useless threads. Every way you can learn what you need about roms has been mentioned in my posts and none of them require an entire thread dedicated to asking others to give you the answers.

Not a thing anyone responds to me with will justify these type of useless threads. Every way you can learn what you need about roms has been mentioned in my posts and none of them require an entire thread dedicated to asking others to give you the answers.

I would respectfully disagree. Not everyone has followed the entire course of development for the Galaxy Nexus from the beginning. It is hard to know where to start if you are just now reading up on things (as I am). People are trying to do their research otherwise they would just flash any old thing and then complain when nothing works.
In many other fields (I work in biology) it is very common to have a review article to get people up to speed on a specific topic without them having to read every primary piece of evidence on a topic because that is a lot of needless repetitive work that has already been done. It isn't being lazy. It is being efficient.
I stumbled upon this thread and found it to be EXACTLY what I was looking for and very relevant. Just a quick guide to let me know if it was worth looking into kitkat roms or if (as I suspected) I should stick with Jelly Bean roms for now since stability is also my primary goal. I can't understand the hostile nature towards people trying to educate themselves that seems to permeate xda sometimes...

Apparently you have not read a word of what I posted.
There is NO reason for these type of posts because all the information you seek on a rom or kernel is in their respective thread. Even if you do not want to use them you still have all the review you need from people on the thread that actually used the rom or kernel, these threads are a copout for lazy people that do not take the time to read where the information is already easily accessible. These types of threads are spam, they are made by people who come to XDA and do not even put a second of time into looking through threads before just expecting that posting a new thread and asking about what is the best will get them all the info they need without any effort.
I have said this many times already, In school, when you have a test or assignment, does your teacher give that test or assignment to you and then immediately hand over the answers? Hell no they don't, they expect you to research and study to find the answers. As adults that is what should be done here as well, otherwise you ultimately learn nothing.
I use the official 4.4.2 gummy build and it is very stable for me and have not encountered any issues.
