Anyone used unrevoked 3.2.1 while still on version 2.1? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Successfully?
I'm trying to update but my phone isn't finding any available updates. The problem is when I go to menu> settings> system updates> HTC software updates> check now
It tells me there are no updates available. Is there another way to get the update. My firmware version is 2.1-update1
Thanks

Flash a 2.2 rom

Thanks, but I'm not rooted yet and I can't get the OTA update. Where do I get the 2.2 ROM file to flash?

[Q] can i update to froyo if im rooted

i know it'll not be rooted anymore but will it break if i check for updates and update it
if you want to upgrade then yes you will loose root. it should update no matter what unless you are using a different rom or the leaked version of froyo that went out on july 31st. not to sure about the rom thing
i am using a diffrent rom
fresh evo or something
so how do i update?
well if you can update try going to settings > System Updates > Software Update
but i would definitely read around the site a little to see if it will work. It has been a while since i have flashed a custom rom before.

Why not just flash a rooted froyo rom? Unless u really wana go back to stock don't update to ota through system updates via settings. I would just flash one of the many froyo rooted roms on this site if I were you.

Ya either that or modify the update's hboot.img to the engineering hboot..0.76...the flash the update...finally, flash Su-e-unsecured.zip
Most roms (i am pretty sure FRESH doe) block the update using the settings update. If you go to the stock rooted rom you should be able to update or if you "unroot" first you can then go to the ota update and get official 2.2.
I will say flipz just put out his fresh 3.0 froyo based rom it is working great for me with froyo while keeping root.

[Q] update to 2.2

hello,
i have a desire with a 1.15.405.4 software, once in a little while i get a popup saying there is an update available (i keep saying no because i want to make sure everything is backed up).
however today when i checked for an update it says that the phone is up to date. how could that be, does it beeing rooted have anything to do with it?
how can i update to 2.2?
thanx,
lidar
Root your phone and install custom rom or official rom

If you're rooted you can't update. You need to be unrooted to install an OTA. If you're already rooted just get a new ROM based on 2.2

[Q] OTA Update for Rooted Branded Phones

Hey,
So I rooted my branded (T-mobile) stock Android phone with the "Advanced Ace Hack Kit". It downgraded my radio & kernel but preserved my stock ROM (2.3.3) .
Now when a new OTA Update is released by my provider, will I be able to receive the update on my phone ? If not then how can get it ?
Cheers.
Youll get the notification for the ota, but it will fail to install. It'll end up with a pick of an exclamation point. And you'll have to pull the battery to reboot
Your options would be to 1) install a prerooted rom of the ota 2) go back to stock and apply ota 3) apply ruu if available
Note both 2. &3 you will lose root.

HTC EVO is still running 2.2 rooted need to update??

My HTC EVO is still running 2.2 Baseband ver. 2.15.00.11.19. It's rooted with CM. I've avoided updating to the latest version of Android because I didn't want to lose root. However I think it's time to update. I'm concerned that once I update I can't put the genie back in the bottle. Would someone be kind enough to walk me through the process so I can update to the latest "rootable" version of Android and how to "reroot" (if needed) after the update?
just install the latest update . 2.3.5 then click link below in my sig to root
no problem
Just go get the update as a custom rom and load it. You can also find the updated radios out there and flash them too.

How to receive OTA update after flashing stock firmware

I flashed the stock marshmallow firmware and now when I check the software update from about phone menu it is showing that your software is up to date. Is there any way to get the Nougat update through OTA?
