[Q] network connection and activesync - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi.
i purchased htc desire running adnroid 2.2.
i set up my email account and sync my mail.
i seems that activesync does not turn network connection on when it attempts to sync.
i need to manually turn the network connection on, sync my email and turn the connection off manually.
can i configure it to turn the connection on anf off automatically?

How to autocheck email every X minutes ... not working....

Hi,
Just got a BA. Now I was trying to find a way to make the device check for emails via my Wifi network every 10 or 15 minutes. I've enabled the option in Pocket Outlook, but when I suspend the device, automatically the wifi network is disconnected.
That would not be a problem if pocket outlook was enable to reconnect itseft automatically to the network for 30sec to check for new mail.
There is a hack for a new software I could use for this?

how to change proxy settings in email

hi all
i have a xda orbit, aka htc artemis. my service provider, after much delay, helped me to set up the internet settings for my device. now the problem is, they have made me change the port numbers from 80 to 9401 and have set up a connection in "work" settings, whenever i try to download emails from my yahoo account, which supports pop3, it says error in synch and to check my net connection. the same works fine if i connect my device to the pc with internet connection. similar thing happens with most of other apps which use internet
can someone help me on how to change the proxy settings on other apps or how to make other apps use the same connections settings please.
thanks

why doesn't automatic send/recieve Outlook and Exchange start on Wifi connect?

I have a few email accounts set up in pocket-outlook, but always have to send/receive each separately when I have a wifi and also have to manually make ActiveSync sync to mail2web, why doesn't it do automatically? it would save a lot of effort..
I've been looking through all the settings, there's no option to get this done automatically :/ it's quite a drag..
can anyone point me in the right direction?
hmm
interested in this topic, with schaps advance config you can set to connect automatically to gprs, however ... wifi not so sure. Latest MSN with no IM also wakes up GPRS connection upon boot, and in a way activates the synchronisation of my web2mail exchange server. Wifi is a lot 'cheaper' hehe ... and I believe stock shipped ROM is able to do it at least on my bro's polaris wifi stays on after a soft reset, and doesn't die when in sleep mode either.
Will be keen for someone to have a cab file for this,....
i have the same issue.
what i did was to do it kind of half-automated:
create a shortcut to start sync so that you do not have to go into your email application and start sync from there.
Code:
20#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "Privat" -Sync
if you have more email accounts consider using mortscript.
still not sure how to start sync once a wifi connection has been established.

Access to email in airplane mode or no signal

When I am in airplane mode I can not send emails because it says it needs a network connection. Is this a standard android "functionality"?
Even old Windows Mobile allowed to send emails in airplane mode that would stay in the outbox and as soon as there were connectivity they would be sent.
I am doing something wrong?
I'm pretty sure that it will go in the outbox ready to be sent once signal is restored or WiFi connection is established.
Nope... it allows you to reply to a mail but when you press "send", it just says "unable to connect" and my only option is to save it as a draft and send it later.
I am using an exchange activesync account account

Gmail does not do background sync over wifi

I am having issues with Gmail doing background sync over Wi-Fi. As soon I turn Wi-Fi ON Gmail clent stopped doing back ground sync. No issues if I am on T-Mobile data network. Hotmail and other mails are syncing fine. Even I did the master reset on the phone and no luck. I can do a manual refresh and Gmail will sync so Wi-Fi connection is fine.

in my, work well:silly:
It seems to that I have that issue only when I am connected with Netgear R6300 router. Internet browsing and rest works but no background sync of gmail. Weird.
