Need info on how to restore my nandroid backup. This is the story. I was rooted with a stock 2.2 froyo rom, make a backup with nandroid. Then I deside to install cm6 Tom. To do this I have to downgrade my hboot from .96 to. 76. I want to go back to my 2.2 root using nandroid but I can not get out of the hboot screen everytime I reboot the phone. Any ideas why is this happening??? Thanks for all your help in advance.
This happened to me today as well you'll need the same hboot as your nandroid backup. So go back to. 96. I ended up just flashing fresh evo and did a data only restore from my nand backup. Better battery life then stock sense rom.

I have some general questions about what to do after a flash, in case any kind soul "in the know" would care to reply:
1) Every instruction set says to make a Nandroid backup. I assume this is in case something goes wrong with the flash. If you have a bad flash, or don't like the new rom, do you just restore your nandroid and you are done; or do you ALSO need to reflash your prior ROM first, and then restore your nandroid.
2) I have nandroid backups, titantium backups ("all data and all apps" natch), mybackup pro ("apps and their data") ... once you flash a new ROM, what is the best way to put all your apps back and get up to speed? I have to assume you DONT want to restore settings from one ROM to another.
3) Very similar to #1, if you like your stock and you flash a ROM and configure it too and take a nandroid backup (so you have different ROM's nandroided), do you simply restore the nandroid to switch between the two, or do you have to re-apply the dev's ROM first.
Thanks!
U can be on any ROM at anytime and restore a Nandroid backup with no real flashing of any ROM or data wipe or anything, i.e. u backup CM6 and install the new froyo with sense and if u want to go back to CM6 just restore ur nandroid backup, done. Sorry so short. Battery is dying

Also u can only restore titanium backups from one froyo rom to another. Or 1 eclair to another. 2.1 and 2.2 dont mixx unless its an app only as far as i know. Cud b wrong

Hi Guys,
Currently, I'm running a STOCK rooted FROYO ROM.
This one to be exact:
HTC OTA Froyo 2.2, *FINAL*, build 3.36.651.6 (Rooted) Odexed
I would love to try out some of these other great ROMs, but hate going through all of the setup after each flash.
So the question is, what is the easiest way to get all my settings and apps back after flashing a new ROM? Can I make a nandroid backup and a Titanium backup (I have the paid version) then flash a new ROM, say, the FRESH one, and then do a nandroid restore and a Titanium restore and be back with all my settings/apps? Or should I not do a nandroid restore after putting the new ROM on because it's a backup of a different ROM?
Thanks for reading and any insight you might can give me.
I have lost confidence in nandroid, and need help. I rooted using unrEVOked3. I did a nandroid backup before starting on the quest to install Froyo. I went back to stock and rooted with simple root. Installed clockworkmod recovery. I ran into some problems so restored my nandroid backup. The restore worked, but with problems. None of my icons or widgets were restored. My wallpaper went from black to multicolored (default I think). I read that there were some problems with Clockworkmod, so I installed amonRA recovery. I have taken a nandroid backup, but leery of it working. Am I doing something wrong or was it a problem with unrEVOked? I would like to get an answer to this before Taking my next leap and not having a good way back.
Anyone done a restore of a nandroid backup taken under unrEVOked3 with clockworkmod?

We prefer not to use unrevoked as it is not a full root.

Maybe because Unrevoked is not full root? Unrevoked causes 50% of the problems that rooted users have with root.
its a very good possibility the problem lies in unrevoked. I nandroid at least once a day (because i flash normally once a day. and yes thats sad). Never had that issue on a full rooted back up. (we are talking 100s of nandroid back ups and restores since i got my evo)
I did nandroid backup of 2.1, flashed burnt droid, and nandroid backup. Restored 2.1 worked great and then restored burnt droid. No problems. Must have been problems caused by unrEVOked3. Thanks everyone.

not to say that unrevoked was the problem but at least on mine when i did it you also have the option to do clockwork or RA. clockwork could have been the problem not wiping completely
Hi there, I currently have a desire HD that is rooted, s-off and clockwork mod installed. However before I install a (CM6) I was wondering if I do a nandroid backup of my current stock rom. If i then install CM6 then say I want to go back to the stock rom do I simply launch rom manager again then restore from back up? Is that it?
Thank you very much for your time!
Yes, as simple as that.
It just sound..well all to easy Haha! So simply back up using titanium then nandroid install Rom from sd then say I make a back up of this non-stock Rom and then boot into recovery again and restore using backup of original Rom everything will be back to normal? (would there be any chance I could restore again using back up of the Rom I downloaded and it'll be back in that version again?) Thanks!

hey i had skyraider then used chad's kernal and it got stuck in the boot loop. so i just restored it using the clockwork. now everything is back to normal just rooted. so...if i ever decide i want to go back to stock rom and kernal when i have custom roms and kernals cant i just restore it back to normal? does this make sense?
Is the backup you have of SkyRaider or a backup of the Stock ROM you made after rooting? You can always restore backups of anything you make to the point in which the backup was made. You should backup before flashing something new, in case you don't like it...saves lots of work.
If you want to go back to complete stock, un-rooted and all, you'd have to use the RUU. This would be putting the phone to the point just like it was when you unboxed it and turned it on.
ah ok i get it. yea i backed up before i flashed skyraider and the kernel. Thx
No problem, just some added info: the backup you make will also keep the kernel, so if you flash a custom kernel and backup the ROM, it'll keep that kernel too. So there's no need to reflash that if you restore a backup.
And s-on patch to unroot. Dont get in the situation like me where you can't s-on and use your warranty
