Guys,
Is there a trusting way yet for connecting to ad-hoc networks from our HTC desires ?
I have a rooted Leedroid 2.1 rom installed.
I found an app that I don't realy trust, maybe somebody can advise if it works for them ?

Does this work with android 2.2?
I have 2.2 android. Do I have to root my phone or not for this?
Does not work.
It displays the ad hoc network but does not connect to it.
...Rooted Stock FroYo ROM.
EDIT:
Ok now I can't connect to even normal wifi networks. How the heck do I unflash this thing?
Does work on Gingerbread?

Hi is there anyone out there also having problem with 3g on their Desire ?
I'm using Modaco's latest froyo rom, but when I'm reading gmail it can't connect to the internet ?
I wanted to unroot my phone to if that was the problem, but unrooting did not be that easy. So it's still rooted.
Please let me know what I can do to fix this ?
Regards Jacob
I'm also on Vodafone NL and my internet is working fine at the moment. Are you sure the ROM is using the correct settings for Vodafone NL?

From what I have read there is currently not a method to root this update. Be patient though.

I haven't seen any evidence that it is possible to flash back to the original stock rom.

Same here. Tried even to flash the 2.1 Softbank ROM then tried the update. Still message "(bad) Installation aborted"
Switching verification off does not help either.

Ah, now I understand.
Thanks for sharing.
Is it worth unrooting just to get the official 2.2. Anything it does better than any of the custom ROMs out there? I've been on custom ROMs almost since the day I bought it and it runs much better, has better battery life and is way more customizable... i really don't see a reason

I guess it would be for the Japanese keyboard and the MMS with S!mail function and emojii.
But both you can integrate in any custom ROM.
Hmm, I would like to have Japanese keyboard and the MMS with S!mail function and EMOJI in a other ROM then Softbank...
It would be nice if those could be installed as an "APK"
You can get both a Japanese keyboard and the softbank mms app from the market...

It is easy to re-root. Though using the RCmix v 0.7 sense HD ROM I am able to use the S!mail app from the market with no problems
Thanks for your quick replies!! m(_ _)m
If I would install this Softbank ROM, I would probably loose root?
Also does this ROM work with an European simcard (T-mobile NL)

Can you help on one more thing?
I put that zip file on the sdcard, right?
Then I go into recovery. I have ClockworkMod recovery
In order to install this, in the menu of the clockwork mode, I go to "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", and then pick up your zip file, right??
Is this the way to do it??

OH NO U SHOUD HAV READ
In seven days you will either die or your screen will show nothing but an image of the Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock. It was a typo, they mean Ad-Rock Networking.
Other smarmy answer: Let Me Google That For You
Real answer: Ad-hoc networking is two wifi devices networking to each other, as opposed to using an access point (i.e. a wifi router).

LOL! Instant classic!
I'm getting really tired of people expecting EVERYTHING be done for them. You can go to the trouble to flash this but can't do a 30 second google seach? If you really need to ask these questions, do it in the general section. The development section is FILLED with questions of those too lazy to do anywork themselves these days. Quite annoying.

Thanks so much brokenworm! Your attached wpa_supplicant with Ad-Hoc support works great on my HD2 running Core Droid HD v0.3 by Sergio76 (Desire HD build). To clarify, I just replaced the original wpa_supplicant with yours, and now Ad-Hoc networks are visible and working as intended.
Cheers,
R
I can confirm this works fine on the Desire HD, although the DHCP is a bit dodgy without Internet Connection Sharing like someone said earlier.

op... hello 1. page
I am not able to install the zip using ClockworkMod 3 running CM 6.1.1. It says somthing about a "scripter problem". Would I be able to flash an older ClockworkMod to be able to run the zip, and then flash back to ClockworkMod 3?
Ok, I was able to install it using an older version of ClockworkMod. Question. I am trying to connect my G2 to a WifiHotspot created on my wife's jailbroken iPhone4 using MyWi on the iphone. My G2 sees the hotspot but cannot connect to it. Anybody know of any workaround?
updated 1. post with new adhoc zip... for the new recoverys

Hi guys. I have a problem with this device: I would like to use this device as a modem (I live in Italy, and I've am italian card), only that it is a mobile brand AT & T, and every time he tells me it needs a AT & T sim card...
Is there a solution? I'm forced to install a custom rom, or is there another way?
Thank you!
At the very least, I think you'll have to root and flash the tethering fix (found in the dev section). That should clear everything up and it shouldn't mess with your current rom.

Using as a hotspot
Not sure I understand exactly what you are asking?
If the phone doesn't get service with your sim card then you need to unlock it.
If the phone gets service/internet but you just can't tether then use foxfi. No root needed.

Root not required. If you have CWRM, you can simply flash the relevant zip file with the tethering fix.
