Not sure if this was posted yet but here is the OTA for the

Seems I reached drop box's download limits.

Thanks a lot Davis.
Did you flash it? Does it support Softbank S!Mail?
Will try to get it into my kitchen and extract keyboard and Softbank specific applications.
Your upload is very helpfull!

I flashed it. It works great with the S!Mail app from Softbank on the market.

Same here. Tried even to flash the 2.1 Softbank ROM then tried the update. Still message "(bad) Installation aborted"
Switching verification off does not help either.

Ah, now I understand.
Thanks for sharing.

Is it worth unrooting just to get the official 2.2. Anything it does better than any of the custom ROMs out there? I've been on custom ROMs almost since the day I bought it and it runs much better, has better battery life and is way more customizable... i really don't see a reason

I guess it would be for the Japanese keyboard and the MMS with S!mail function and emojii.
But both you can integrate in any custom ROM.

Hmm, I would like to have Japanese keyboard and the MMS with S!mail function and EMOJI in a other ROM then Softbank...
It would be nice if those could be installed as an "APK"

You can get both a Japanese keyboard and the softbank mms app from the market...

It is easy to re-root. Though using the RCmix v 0.7 sense HD ROM I am able to use the S!mail app from the market with no problems

Thanks for your quick replies!! m(_ _)m
If I would install this Softbank ROM, I would probably loose root?
Also does this ROM work with an European simcard (T-mobile NL)

Stock Desire OTA 2.29.405.2

Hi,
Just got this update this morning and not sure what changes it made (kinda hoping for new sense, with integration to htcsense.com but I don't think so)
Did any one else get this?
Does anyone know the changes that it made?
Thanks
BW
The solution is online for manual download since a month now.
Big advantage - no more 90% battery problem in the mornings.
I think this was "released" a little while ago - think there was a download link on here for it (think I read basically it was just a radio update?)
But thanks for letting me know - didn't see it on htc.com and nothing on HTC's twitter feeds - downloading and installing OTA now
Got the update too - using LeeDroid ROM though, so I didn't want to install it
Taking awhile to update... min to download, but the last 15 mins installing, rebooting, and then it booted up said "you have successfully updated to 2.29.405.2" then started counting up from 1% -> 58% so far on the htc logo...
Just finished: 9:09
Nice, update on move 25Mb needed on phone memory to update.
Just got the notification about this update this morning. I'm running a rooted, slightly modifierd Stock Rom. The update says it will upgrade the system to 2.29.405.2 and is 28,7MB big. At the bottom it says:
Update: Android Market
Haven't updated yet, since battery is low and I don't want to mess around with my perfectly working phone in the beginning of a long week.
Whats new in Android Market after update?

Been using 2.29.405.2 since the RUU was made available a month or so ago - it's fine to use
To anyone who'd download it:
Do I need to clear some space and wipe some apps so this update can be installed properly?
I'm using a stock rooted desire. Anyone knows if I'm going to loose root if I update OTA?

Thanks, I was just looking for this.. I did an update from eclair to froyo (2.1 - 2.2) and everything was fine until I did a hard reset and lost service and it kept crashing each time I would go into the settings and wireless/APN options. Wouldn't take ATT and TM sim cards.. Going to try flashing the SBF and see if this resolves it.
Edit: aaand, flashed and all fixed.
Great find, nice to have an option in case we screw something up. I wonder if there's any benefit to flashing the 2.2 sbf instead of flashing a clean 2.1 and updating to 2.2...

Got it flashed. Same way as you flash a rom. Like you tho, I havent a clue why. I also flashed the rom. Did NOT help with freezing, in fact seems worse now. Cant use my phone for more than 3-4 minutes before it freezes. Any idea who Id contact at Motorola to get assistance with this, because this is ridiculous. Thanks for posting this.

Hey check your SD card. My phone wasn't just freezing....it would completely just reboot and stay on the moto screen. I found out that i was my memory card. When I removed it, it worked fine and when I put it back in, it shut down automatically. Found out the problem was the 2nd partition I to use the link2sd...had to change it so that the 2nd partition was set to primary and its been working fine ever since. Not one single freeze or anything.
Dunno if that is going on with you but if it is I hope this helps
How do I set the second partition as primary? I've noticed also when anything gets linked, it goes to the first partition. First partition mem goes down, whereas second stays the same.
Sent from my MB508 using XDA App
I use something called 'EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition' that I think I downloaded on google (I don't remember) but you can use it to change create and format partitions and you just gotta make sure you set it to 'primary' and not 'logical'. Try to see if you can find it and do it and let me know. If you can't find it let me know and I'll see if I can send you mine. And if you do and you still have trouble, detail to me what is going on and i'll walk you through it. It took me a lil while to figure it out.
So I could use minitool partition as well? That's the one I have. I will try that out. Phone hasn't froze today for a long time, but now that I said that, well you know. Lol I will keep you updated for sure. Thanks.

Found out why the need for the updated bootloader. Froyo does not support the Eclair version of the bootloader, so if you need to flash again, you would not be able to unless you update the bootloader. HTH
I'm honestly kinda a noob at this... never messed with anything like a bootloader. Can somebody explain to me how to do this? I'm wanting to flash back to a clean 2.2 and the post before mine sounds like that might be bad without updating boot loader first.
Also the rom, just install it with RSD?

You will flash the bootloader the same as the froyo rom in RSD. Do the bootloader first. Then flash the froyo rom. Any questions, don't hesitate.

Phone fully on or update mode or what? For both?
USB Debugging on?
Version of RSD need to be up or still using 4.9?
I'm not 100% of this, as I don't have the MB508 as of the moment, but I believe once you flash the stock 2.2 rom or OTA you will loose root.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, this is just intended for those who want to know info.

When you flash you will need to go into bootloader mode. Power off phone, the use the proper key funtion (sorry don't remember what it is) to start bootloader. Then flash updated bootloader. When flashing via RSD, it doesn't matter about usb debugging because you aren't fully booted into the phone. I used version 4.9 and had no problems flashing both. Good luck.

Yes this is correct. I belive this is the case anytime you flash using RSD. You can gain root again after using the most current version of superoneclick.

Does Superuser.apk report any issues with your SU binary? The complaints from ROM Manager make it sound as though your system isn't properly rooted.

Wish I did, I've yet to get my hands on one of these new Frankenstein devices that HTC has released recently. I don't know what it is that they changed but, it hasn't been kind to the users who own them. Sadly until it's all sorted you're probably stuck with stock software. I know some of the other users I've spoken with have gotten the new HTC bootloader and unlocked that and managed to get some custom and rooted roms onto the device but, this isn't a easy task. This thread contains one of the current solutions for getting around the display issue to flash a custom ROM.

If you want to upgrade to kernel 3.1 with OTA, you have options.
You can unlock and just upgrade kernel.
You can.install a custom ROM and upgraded kernel.
You can try to install a JB ROM and kernel, this requires CID__621, or an European unbranded phone.
To go back to stock, don't upgrade the hboot, which rules out the last option. Even then, the bootloader will say relocked vs locked.

This is great! Good work guys!
Now if someone can just debrand it by taking out the crap apps that should have been optional like:
Kindle
Google Play Movies & TV
Google Play Music
Google Play Books
My AT&T
AT&T Messages
AT&TLocker
AT&T Code Scanner
AT&T FamilyMap
AT&T Hot Spots
AT&T Navigator
AT&T Ready2Go
Live TV
PDF Viewer (never worked for me since day 1 had to install Adobes version)
YP Local Searc & Gas Prices
And the AT&T boot up image

google play & movies and play books are useful sometimes . the other i do think is just bloat . but once the phone has root , they can be remove with TB
Funny thing, when I uninstalled all the AT&T bloat with TiBu it just popped back on when I restarted... I had to just freeze it all instead, which is good enough for me.

I believe this have to do with TiBu now mounting the system folder as read/write. My final straw was always to get the stock rom, delete the bloat ware inside it, then flash the bloatware free rom to the device.
Waiting on a clockwork fix
^ Agree about cwm, and even more waiting on custom jelly bean or cyanogen! :fingers-crossed:
Edit: I just struck a deal with my girlfriend, and she is going to buy my one vx and I'm getting the nexus4! I realllly liked this phone but of course always prefer a GED! Good luck to all and I'll come back around for a rom for her sometime.
the problem with not being able to keep deleted files from coming back is the boot.img, htc did this with the dna and one x in recent firmware. can this device bootloader be unlocked via htcdev?
