[Q] Android Daap client and FroYo - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was using the Daap client from Miceli Bros and I have to say that this is the single greatest application I've run on this fone to date. Or it was, anyway.
The software ran perfectly under 2.1, but after upgrading to 2.2, the software keeps restarting songs when I try to play them. It will go for thirty seconds or so and restart. Then a minute and restart, etc...
I tested this with my daughter's phone immediately after she updated, the software started doing the same thing on hers too.
I have reached out to the developers. But I'm curious has anyone else run into this?

maybe marketplace is acting up.
You need to be logged in to windows live on phone and computer i believe.
I've seen that message occasionally. Generally power cycling the phone solves it.

it's hasn't worked for me, i have reset my phone 3 times so far with countless power down cycles.
I have a sr with ms to see what's going on. I can download free apps but not paid apps, music, games etc.
waiting to hear from MS, lets see what happens.
I get this error from time to time when my Omnia switches from 3G to WiFi (and vice versa) A power cycle seems to be the only way to fix it.
same problem????????????
Have you enable cookies via settings? Try to uncheck that box, restart your phone and check it again.
May be also operator/network problem.
Very common thing indeed.
Check the regional settings on the device, on the computer with the Zune software and in your live account. If they are not the same you get this error message. I had the same problem and I was able to solve it due to the change of this settings.
I hope it will work for you too
i got this problem too! nothing you guys said has worked any other ideas?
Same problem here, looks like there is something going on with market.
Seems to be working now! i uninstalled some apps but could have been that it just decided to start working
that seems to be the fix. it was happening when the phone was trying to update the trial versions of apps. the only way to fix the problem is to delete the free trials... but that was a like a week ago n i havent ran into the problem again
Read in MS support forum there was some sever adjustment.

[Q] Problems Installing Programs on HTC Incredible

Hello, Since upgrading to the 2.2 operating system on my incredible I am having trouble trying to install programs. First off my Incredible is 100% stock, no modifications whatsoever. I go to the Market website, select a program, download the program, it downloads fine, then it goes into the installation stage, the sideways barber pole is moving but it gets stuck at this point. I can wait 5 minutes or 5 hours and nothing, the programs simply do not install. I have tried other websites and even tried to install a program from my sd card....Same results...
I called Verizon Tech help about twenty times this month. After getting to a stage two tech, either they dont believe me or I am the only customer having this problem. Which I hardly believe that I am the only one. 2 of the level 2 techs told me that they have special software available only to them to make changes to my Incredible so the programs will install. Somehow they did temporarily fix the problem. At least until the next morning then it goes back to the same thing all over again.
Can any one here tell me what it going on with my phone? I Love my Incredible, but I need a phone that does'nt act up every day or every other day.
Thanks in advance for any help. So far I have notmade any modifications to my phone, however that may change depending on your alls advice.

You could try clearing the Market cache. Go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications> select Market and clear data and cache. You won't loose anything and sometimes this fixes what you're describing. It's worth a shot.

Problems with Starburst ROM

I was using the Lite 1.3.3.3 for about a month without any problems, then the other morning I turned off my phone and pulled my SD card to copy some music onto it using a USB MicroSD adaptor. This is a usual activity for me.
When I popped the card back in the phone and rebooted, Swiftkey, Uninstaller and ROM Manager force closed upon boot. I had to uninstall Swiftkey to stop the messages showing, neither of the other two apps were responding, upon further inspection, more apps were doing this.
Previous to this, the Market stopped downloading apps, GoogleTalk constantly give me errors about being able to authenticate and I could no longer store contacts to my google account. I figured there was a problem with Google's servers, but this continued for a week.
So, I installed the 1.4.1.0 version, figuring it was newer and probably fixed whatever was wrong with the Lite version. Today, the same thing happened to me, only this time, more apps died on me, many of them resetting their data. Rather frustrating. Also, ROM Manager, some time ago, stopped finishing the "Fix Permissions" process. It'd hang at random points, on random apps, each time I restarted it, it'd get a little closer. However, restarting the process 100-some times wasn't feasable.
I now have 1.3.3.3 installed, with Data2EXT, fresh. However, I'm going to download and install 1.4.1.1 classic, and strip out all the rubbish that comes with it (why the dev doesn't update their Lite version, I don't know, none of the preinstalled apps show in the market available to be updated. Useless!)
It can also take an extremely long time to show the screen when I push the power button
Here's the important bit:
This is the best ROM I've used so far, in that it took a month before it force closed into unusability. However, is this user error? Am I at fault here? I never did a hot reboot, as I know this isn't good for data2EXT installs. What gives?
And the 1.4.1.1 version does NOT install Data2EXT for you. So there is no "intelligent Data2EXT" installation with that version. What a massive waste of my time.

Zune client not finding updates

Ive done the provisioning and backup about 10 times now. Each time it takes 30 minutes. Ive tried it with 4.7 and 4.8 installed. The first time it worked flawlessly without errors, but every subsequent time it gives me an error about 'no updates needed.'
NOW.. on every tutorial ive seen, it says plug in the phone and start the Zune client and voila everything will be wonderful and sunshine and rainbows as it finds the updates... except, it NEVER DOES. So i try to manually search for updates and it sits there for about 10-15 minutes and times out with an error about 'timing out' or 'not being enough space.' I have 8.5GB of free space on my phone. What do I do? Ive tried uninstalling Zune, downgrading to 4.7 going back to 4.8, restarting my computer, every conceivable combination of uninstalling everything necessary and redoing it. Nobody else seems to be having this problem and ive scoured a couple hundred pages of posts trying to find something thats related to this. I spent about 8 hours yesterday trying to do this and about 3 so far today. HELP!
(Other info: HTC Surround on at&t 7392, not dev unlocked.)
Fixed. after the update i did a Hard Reset and it found the update. Something was really screwed up on phones updating mechanism.

[Q] After updating to 2.3.4 cellphone keeps donwloading updated version of an app

After updating to 2.3.4 cellphone keeps donwloading updated version of an app (in this case Angry Birds Season) multiple times. I already deleted the app, unnistalled but the only way to stop it seems to be deactivating any type of internet connection (wifi/3g)
Any way to fix it?
try unchecking 'automatically update' in the market page of that app
Happened to me. I uninstall update of market app. Then run market to see
Got a Headache? It's all in your Head.
I have to wait for it to finish downloading the multiple copies. It stopped after that. However, I want the app, and hoping the issue stopped I tried to install it again, but it started all over.
About the market update, the option "automatically update" is only turned on for foursquare (which I have to test again yet, was not working since last try).
Sometimes this happen due to the internet connection having intermittenly disturbance while updating which resulting having your device rescan and reupdating again and again. Or it can be also from human error as you press update button multiple times which triggered to a multiple downloads.
The last one comes from the app(Market) itself. You may try uninstalling the Market app and reinstalling it again to create new database and cache from a fresh installed.
Hi thanks!
I replaced the old market by the 3.1.3. Seems to be a bit heavier though.
I also noticed that the internet connection got a bit slower than the usual after upgrading. There is any optimisation to be done?
It also happened with me and I think it's mainly because of internet connection and pressing update multiple times just update it smoothly it will not download multiple time. It's really pain to download one update multiple time
Next time just press the update once and it will eventually updating, sometimes it take a little bit longer to start the update process so you got to be patient on this.
Internet connection normally base on your service provider(Telco) and distant between you and the transmitting tower. To optimise it, you better get the APN update direct from your service provider and stay within the coverage area..
just one thing.
Few apps internet and gps related are not working as it should, like foursquare.
How do I know if I made a full upgrade or not? Because I might want go back to 2.2.1
