I'm sorry that this thread is here again, still unsolved.
But I would really want to use my phone again. I've got nothing ATM.
What I've tried already:
- Every radio version wich can be downloaded for the Kaiser
- 2.6.32 and 2.6.25 Kernel - Latest 2.6.32 kernel with reboot fixes from Clamsyn
- Diffrent Android Builds like 'Fat Free Froyo', 'Not So Super Froyo', 'CM6.1 Gingerbread', 'Clemsyn's Final Froyo' and so on.
- Wi-Fi fixes
- Re-re-re-re-re-installing Android
- Re-re-re-re-re-flashing kernels and radios
The problem explained:
When using any radio/kernel/build my phone reboots every time my Wi-Fi is on.
At first when Android is freshly installed there are no problems at ass when using Wi-Fi, but after a while it starts to reboot as long as the Wi-Fi is on.
The Wi-Fi is on, I've got about 1 à 2 minutes before the phone reboots. After the reboot, the Wi-Fi restores his state from before the reboot. Now i've got about 30 seconds before it reboots again to turn off the Wi-Fi

If there's any more info on my mind I'll post it.
Hope someone's got a fix or solution for this.
Thanks
I had a similar problem, with WIFI and DATA connection, that I solved with:
this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9768617&postcount=63
ROM: Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1 RLS5a
radio: 1.65.16.25
I suggest data on SD card partition for extra stability.

I'll try that and let something know...
I can't seem to find out how to get the data on sdcardpartition...
i'm getting:
Could not determine filesystem size
Failed
Failed to format
blablabla
unmount: can't unmount /data: invalid argument
EDIT: Could be that i did the partition thing wrong. Trying another way ATM
EDIT: Nope doesn't work...
meh i suck
Install everything on NAND just to see if this combination works for you.
It takes a while until it starts to reboot.
Installing right now so... hoping...
Thanks a lot for even taking your time to help me
When this doesn't fix the problem I'm going to upload a small vid showing what it does. So it's easier to understand the problem. Android booted. Now install some apps and reboot and try to make it reboot again
I had a similar problem in the past.
I solved it with a complete install from the htc factory standard windows mobile rom including the radio. After the complete setup and the reboot after the setup you can try to install another radio and the android kernel and rom again.
This solved my problem. And I use the latest 1.71.09.01 radio and I have no problems with it.
Maybe this helps you.

I'ma try that as well. The problem now is: I have 0.00kb total memory and 0.00kb free so... can't install anything
wich radio?
EDIT: or does it come with the rom downloaded from htc website?
What's this thing I keep getting? Like I said in the previous posts, with the Failed, Failed to format
Never had that before lol'd :/
Still no luck. Keeps rebooting :/
Any other ideas???
If you have hard spl installed, then the installation ist really easy. Open the offical "Kaiser_HTC_ASIA_HK_WWE_3.34.721.2.exe" with 7zip and extract the RUU_signed.nbh to the root of your sd card. Then rename it in KAISIMG.nbh.
Manual for flashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835
---> Flashing Via MicroSD Card
Try it. And I think that you have to make the complete htc first setup process with reboot. My problems were gone after I made this complete setup with the standard htc rom. After that my kaiser was working well. So I installed another radio, kernel and android rom and all was working well after this.
Nope sorry, Tried that yesterday, Still rebooting.
I'm going to post a video wich shows it. Crappy Quality. Shot with my Nokia 3500c so... kind of... yeah...
Video will be posted in a couple of minutes

Did you use BusyBox update that is in the particular thread? I found out, that it fu*ks up everything... messes the keyboard, breaks stability...
I am not using it anymore. Instead I put my apps to the androidinstall.tar file to avoid using newly installed app and it seems to be quite stable for me...
Nope no busybox used :s really ****ed up problem
srry for the language
i did have various probs with sd cards not recognised and failed to format on install.
even trying full format on win 7 and xp didnt help.
i used an sd formater from http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ and select Full Erase On Format size adjustment on.
then, as if by magic ;-) , android installed. worth a try?
Trying that right now...
Thank you btw
If that works I just need to fix the Wi-Fi problem :s
Ok, basically I discovered cyanogen 7 about a week ago and was pure ''
well since then I have gone from knowing nothing at all to having a rooted 2.2 (stock rom) GSM desire (A8181 - whatever that actually means), S -ON
I rooted with unrevoked and have clockworkmod 2.something.
now from what i understand I need to S -OFF so that I can use a program (run on the phone from ROM manager) to upgrade clockwork to 3.x then (correct me if i'm wrong, I'm a total noob dont forget xD) I can use ROM manager to download CM7 and instal all on the phone?
is that right? if not could someone please correct me
I've done a NANDroid backup
i think thats all i want to say :')
I get confused when browsing forums because people talk about things, especially abbreviations, that mean nothing to me xD
Thanks for the help guys

not an expert on the S-OFF side of things but ive been flashing various ROMS without ever needing to S-OFF.
Been using LeeDroid and now GingerVillain (and tried a few more along the way).
For info the GingerVillain has CM7 stuff in it and is pretty stable. Once you have flashed GingerVillain once it has its own setup for flashing updates/patches etc.
But you are right to always take a nandroid backup first. the one time i forgot my flash screwed up

That's sound advice because I'm not set on cyanogen however I don't know how I'd go about flashing GingerVillain :')
And how sure are you it's alright with S-ON because I don't like the sound of a £250 paperweight
thanks though
well ive never changed my S status .....
Download ROM Manager from the Market. Make sure you install clockworkmod recovery (using ROM Manager). Backup current ROM (using ROM Manager). Download GingerVillain latest version. Flash ROM from SD card (using ROM Manager)
Any future updates to GingerVillain you can use the 'Villain Setup' utility that you will find in your app list once the Flash is complete.
If its your first ever flash be aware that you should make sure the battery level is high, and that it may take several minutes (so dont panic !)
As long as you backup first everything should be fine (although there is always some risk).
Once you have finished your first Flash it will seem like you were worried about nothing
Oh ... and if you would prefer to stay with Froyo the LeeDroid ROM has a very good A2SD version
that sounds.... easy
thanks
and ROM manager says i already have CwM 2.5.0.7 -- so thats all cool, yeah?
Will my NANDroid backup count or shall I just do it again in ROM manager?
and I'm guessing I can download GV from within ROM manager?
sorry to ask all the newb questions but i'd rather be sure lol
Ive never bothered downloading ROMs from within ROM Manager but I believe you can.
As for the backup Id copy your existing backup to your PC and do another. You can never have too many backups
The backup will be in a sub folder on your SD card in a 'clockworkmod' directory.
oh ... and it generally is easy its just summing up courage for the first one.
Might be worth using titanium backup or my backup pro to take a copy of your apps if you dont want to lose where you have got to on Angry Birds etc
you can then restore them to your new ROM
Thanks
my phone is off to charge quicker at the minute then i'll give it a shot
one last question to be extra annoying
if i can't download GV within ROM man.
..could you provide a download link for me to manually slap in on my SD please
Seriously though, I'm really grateful!
They are all under the Desire Android dev sub forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880465
FINALLY about to do it and I've just thought..
Im on clockwork 2.x
don't i need 3.x for ext4 which makes gingerbread more stable?
also, ROM manager didn't have GV so i downloaded the zip from the link you gave me and extracted it to the root of my SD
rom manager doesnt find the image file, only the 3 folders
..and i feel really stupid :')
[edit 5 mins later]
NOT unzipping it was a better idea, its working now
...my excuse is that im learning
Good thing it worked for you. Some users have reported a host of problems flashing ROMs from ROM Manager. I'd advice you to do it the tried-and-tested old way: through Recovery (which in your case is ClockworkMod).
If you decide to repartition, ROM Manager can do that too, but that's not too advisable either, as some have reported problems with that method, and ROM Manager only allows up to 512Mb partitions, if I remember right.
funny that ^
ROM manager ended up leaving me on the white screen with the green HTC logo untill i pulled the battery
i did it through recovery and it worked a charm
just went through ALL of the settings and i LOVE it
there are a few things i dont like but i'm yet to try different themes etc yet
I'm a happy bunny!
Glad you managed the Flash OK
Never experienced any problems with ROM Manager myself ....
Thing is, now you have recovery and a nadroid backup you are fairly safe. Anything goes wrong you can recover to a previous image from recovery
I always keep a nadroid on my SD card just in case
Of course if you try S-OFF and all sorts of HBOOT changes then you expose yourself to more risk apparently so be careful.
Happy Flashing
oh ... and if you are on GingerVillain go to the Villain Setup and flash the adfree add on. For me it always takes 2 attempts to work, which is strange, but adfree is great
and on GingerVillain you also might want to flash the 'new market' add-on too ...
.... and then there are the Kernels to try too
A week from now you will wonder what you were worried about and will be flashing daily

I'm already wondering it
I though last night (well, 4.20 this morning) that I might bite the bullet and try flashing cyanogen
-which i did with sucess
then downloaded the google add on pack and added that
I felt all happy like
onr of my friends did his hero at the same time too because he was interested when i showed him
I think for now I'll keep cyanogen, but i've left it in note form: no homescreens properly set up, very few apps etc, until i find a ROM that I really like the look of
I'll keep ginger in mind though, especially as i hadn't tried the stuff you mentioned above
Hi there,
Saw the thread and thought i could help you with some information.
S-ON/OFF refers to Signature Verification on or off. S-ON stops things that the phone manufactuer do not want changed. It is totally separate to Root access to android. The main advantage of turning S-OFF is that you can change the size of the partitions on the device to give you more space for you apps. Basically playing around here can be dangerous if you are not aware of what it's actually doing at all times.
The great news is that as you have already discovered, you definately don't need to play with S-OFF to flash ROMs. Just root access and a recovery. The ClockworkMod 2.0.5.7 that comes with the Unrevoked root method should is fine for flashing all ROMs from ROM manager or by booting into recovery. But if any of your ROM instructions call for later versions you can just store the later version zip on your SD and use the older recovery to flash the newer version. It will be usable until your phone re-boots. You can't flash the image of the new recovery without S-OFF
Glad to have you experimenting in the community. I think this sort of stuff is exactly why Android is excellent. Apple hate that people Jailbreak their phones but Google openly encourage this development!
Thanks Jimmy
I flashed GV again (because i'm getting a bit carried away now ;D) and tried to install new market, adfree and a 3d desire bootlogo. I've got debugging and unknown apps enabled but it says there is a problem downloading?
Any idea why?
hmmmm.... not seen that one. Have you tried wifi and 3G ? whats the exact message ?
Did you wipe between flashes ? you dont normally need to do this when flashing updates (eg gingervillain 2.0 to 2.1) but when flashing between different ROMs (eg CM to GV) then you should do a full wipe ....

Great summary! I definitely recommend s-off as I found it as easy as root.
I have close to 300mb free on internal and usually over 200mb free ram.
You can also change the HTC quietly brilliant (should be "loudly" if you ask me!) splash screen after s-off, and write to any of your device partitions, including /system and /data while booted, saving some time using advanced for certain tasks.

My best guess is that there is a setting in GV that allows direct install to the SD-ext partition for apps. Do you have an EXT2/3/4 partition on your SD card?
When ROMs talk about A2SD, Data2EXT and Data2SD the EXT partition is required.
have a look at the blog for the Starburst ROM for desire for a great tutorial (can't post an external link in here)
It is for a specific ROM but the process is the same. I would recommend using EXT3 because it is the most compatible with ROMS.
See how you go with that.
Hi,
I am currently running Android Revolution HD 5.1.7 on my DHD
I was just wondering with the new 6.1.1 version out, to upgrade to it,
do I simply download the file and just flash that to the device or must I first wipe my device? Or some other way?
Thanks for any help!
P.s Really sorry if this has already been asked but I had a quick search and couldn't see anything to this specific situation!
Back up all your data then flash the superwipe script, then flash the ROM, restore data
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk
Thanks alot,
Also once I have flashed the rom to the phone,
Can I remove the file from my SD Card to free up some space?
Its something I have been unsure about from the first time I flashed my phone,
But I should imagine you can??
**UPDATE**
I have succesfully installed Android Revolution HD 6.1.1
But I am getting an awful lot of Force Closes now,
1 in particularly when i try to go on "People" (contacts) it instantly force closes!
Another is SuperUser, and there are a few more than insantly FC as soon as I try to Open them!

1. You can but I would recommend that you keep a copy of a stable ROM on your sd card just in case you have to reinstall for some reason.
2. It seems like the ROM is corrupted.
Did you superwipe before you installed the ROM?
If you have:Check the md5 checksum of the rom you downloaded. It should be the same as the one posted under the ROM download link in the ARHD thread. If its the same you can try superwiping and reinstalling the rom.
If you havent: Download the superwipe script from the first page in the ARHD thread, superwipe and reinstall the ROM.
Also make sure to backup your phone data before superwiping because everything will be lost. Also don't install any mods untill your device has completed the first boot after installing the ROM.
to be honest i had issues with arhd 6.1.1 when i flashed it too. not the same as yours but constant. not everybody seems to have them though and others say it has something to do with the overclock daemon. i believe there´s a patch for it though on the 6.1.1 developers thread.
i didnt bother though i just moved on to virtuous unity 2.39 and have had no problems, really smooth sense 3.0 rom. i´ve been planning to try out a non sense rom next but i really like this rom so i´ve been putting it off for a while now. i even put the beats audio patch on it a few days ago and i gotta say its pretty good even on stock htc headphones
planing to update to arhd6.1.1 too, but have ardh3.3 and clockwork 3.0.0.6. which clockwork is ok (mean which of the newest)?
I did use superwipe and i checked the md5 and it was all good!
I re-flashed the rom and now its ok
I have found out what was causing it!
It starts happening again every time I install google+ 2.0
The new version of the app that has recently been leaked on androidpolice
(Would include a link but im not allowed yet)
And the reason it did it straight from the start the first time is because, before
doing anything else, I restored all my app via Titanium Backup!
If anyone else has this issue or could try to install the app and see if it happens
to them or could figure out how to fix it, it would be great!
(Don't worry about installing it, uninstalling it stop the force closes straight away)
did you try just restoring just the app, but clean without the user data. i did that first time i flashed a rom and it caused all sorts of problems. so i reflashed and restored the apps one by one but just the app, no user data, and stopped having problems

Superwipe doesn't effect the radio, and yeah that order you said is the way I went about it, but I also think you can do radio before rom too!
Update from 5.1 to 6.1
Maybe I haven't looked hard enough or maybe I am simply too tired...
Are there any specific steps from updating ARHD from 5.1 to 6.1? I can't seem to find any info about it.
Also, flashing the 6.1 over the 5.1 will it reset the way my screens/widgets are set while on 5.1?
Thanks.
Hello,
I've installed Hensemod a few times now, without any problems the first time I boot the phone.
Only after that, when restarting or turning the phone on again, it takes very long to start, like it's installing again and then the internal memory is suddenly full, even though I had about 100mb when turning the phone off. Also, all apps I installed are gone. In the applications list (in settings) they seem to still be there, but they're all 0kb and there's no shortcuts to them in the programs overview... Like I said, I've installed the Hensemod a few times now, and every time this happens.
Anyone knows how to solve this? I really like this rom, I can finally install and update all apps I want without the phone becoming unusable because of full internal memory! Thanks!
Carolien
I used HenseModv3 is a nice ROM, u must have to wipe all the data, cache and dalvick cache in the CWM recovery section, then install the HenseMod ROM.
If any other problem, plz share.
I followed all the steps stated in the development forum post, it works fine, just cant restart the phone because it will stop working...
My phone just continuesly restart...
Plug off ur battery, then go to CWM recovery, try to intall any other/different ROM.
I install each ROM by above method,i didn't use fastboot uncheck option.
Never mind I was just being stupid... I wiped the cache partition and not the dalvik cache. Sorry about that! Let's see if it will work now. Installing rom at the moment.
And again... first boot worked fine, after that I'm stuck in a bootloop now... Just like couldzxz. Too bad! I'll have to try yet another mod. Hope the next update of hensemod will solve this!
yes, u can try different custom ROM if any problems with a particular ROM
wait for next updates from Henry_01
I got stuck in bootloop too. I reqlly like the rom but well.. :/

Okay, i've seen your problems.
I've tested latest build, but didnt rebooted it.
I suggest you all use a previous version (3).
Problem can be also kernel related.
I don't have time now (exams), I will make a proper working build after some weeks.
Don't hesitate to post here further, I want to know if it is ROM or phone related.
BIG EDIT: i will include link for version 3.
Thanks to djpc for a new hack which will solve reboot/kernel/overclock problems.
Expect a build and a proper test on friday or saterday.
I will change links now so that you will get a good version lol.
Somehow, the fifth time in installed the latest Hensemod rom, it worked like a charm. I can reboot, have installed and updated all apps I wanted and still got like 90mb remaining. Fantastic! Finally after 6 months I have the phone I wanted.
First and second install I couldn't reboot
Third install I got stuck in a bootloop
Fourth install gapps crashed every 2 seconds (due to calendar and contacts synchronization)
Fifth install = perfect!
I don't know how it happened, I just kept on installing this one so I could copy another rom on the sd card since I don't have an adapter or card reader for it.
Thanks!
Hello XDA-Forum
As of today this is my first day and post here.
As a noob ( I watched the video on reg, i found it funny yet noobfriendly D: ) i would like to ask some questions that the all-mighty search button could not find me, or atleast i could not find
I whacked my head all day searching for a way to root my HTC Wildfire S a520e running on 2.3.3 stock marvel s-off phone
and after by mistake factory reseting it, twice....
I finally managed to root it with OneClickRoot or something.
Then i tried to to what i originaly wanted to root for, Overclock.
But after downloading the rom i got from a youtube video, it f**ked me up good.
Now my phone is overclocked, but is slower. and the menu's are all glitchy and white and wrong.
I would like to ask how to return to the stock rom of 2.3.3 that i so much desire.
Meanwhile while i await your answears of joy, i am downloading Cyanogen 7.2 Rom that i found on the interwebs and should so-fit my tiddy little wildfire s.
Toodles.
I installed Cyanogen... and .... well i don't like it (Q_Q)!
i want my old 2.3.3 back (cry)
It feels slower, i don't like the UI
EDIT:
Now that i look at it again.. it's not that bad qq
but where's the android market/google play ?
You need to flash Google apps package from clockwork mod recovery:http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip for market to work.
If you want to go back to stock, download a ruu installer for your region eg euro, Asia etc from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074445
Install from a windows pc
As un-adaptable to new stuff i am and as much i hate change.
I find this cyano-genic blue colour to be semi attractive.
and i decided i'll keep it.
I read that cyanogen has built in overclocking.
Where can i see the hardware? i try'd in about settings but it doesn't say there.
For overclocking go:
Settings
Cyanogenmod
Performance
Cpu
I find this slightly more complicated than the normal android sense, but herpyderpderp atleast i'll be the only one in my class with a custom rom 8D
All the others are iOS/IceCreamSandwich richbishes D:
Is there something Cyanogen can't do that the original android stock can do?

You might need to reflash.
Clear your data and dalvik in cwm
Flash cm7 latest nightly
Flash gapps
On first start take your time DONT press the android right away.
Give all background apps and SD time to load, maybe 30-60 seconds then press it and continue setup.
I have had that issue in the past.
Hope it helps you.
CM7 is a great rom, so customisable enjoy and make it your own.

Did you wipe data and dalvik?
Its important you do!
Use this cm7, latest nightly build http://cm7-wildfire-s.googlecode.com/files/update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-marvel-03_29_2012.zip
I'm thinking of getting this http://code.google.com/p/cm9-wildfi...rc0-unofficial_rom-alpha0-signed.zip&can=2&q=
So far so good, it has minor problems i don't like
but what can i do -sigh-
there's an option called "Data Enable"
Does that take like money or anything?
also how can i use Voice Speech in this rom?
i wanna be able to talk on skype and it turns out as text
just as a question, could there be a problem during the installation, becouse the clock on the start seems to not be visible, it said some kind of error and i removed it from the screen. also it has 90mb free now
feels like first time i installed it it had like 110
THe clock on the lockscreen? You probably changed a setting. Or a clock widget? You probably deleted it. Just hold on the home screen and re add it form there.
