[Q] I need a little help - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Can someone help me with a little problem ... Does anyone know if you can reset the timer on a HTC Touch Diamond ?
I mean if you can reset the calls receive minute and calls made minute ?
Thanks !

You can try to mess with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\cumlativecalltimers\line_0 keys, but i'm not sure it will works.
Those values are probably stored into a flash proof memory of the phone (kinda CMOS).
bye.

Maybe no! that's because when you flash a rom the counters remain. Modifying the registry may not be the solution! try flashing a rom and check the counters from the 'Device Info' settings panel. I think it's, sort of, stored as 'hardcoded'!

I think not destroy the phone if exchange the data

Its hardware based to stop people like you ripping other people off by faking that your phone is new and unused

Oh crap! Friend fiddled with phone now password is on and I don't know it.

Hello all, I beg thee if you can help me, my friend "stole" my xda orbit while I was erm drunk and changed a load of settings, inc adding a password. When I was sober he told me what it was so I could use the phone again. But last night I accidently wanted to change the 4 digit number code that you do when the phone goes inactive for like 1 minute...Instead I think I accidently activated some password...everytime I go to restart the xda I get grilled for a password and if its wrong the time counter keeps going up and up...
Basically I really either need to crack or deactivate this password or some how backup my txts and phone...as I didn't before and theres a few sentimental texts I don't want to lose...
I hope you can help me
i think you might be stuck unless you can figure out the passcode!
i dont think it lets you sync your phone at all does it?
no sync
no asks for a password before sync-ing wondered if there was an alternative to activesync that would work??
was about bootloader mode, if you can go in you would be able to flash a (new) rom.....
errr right
you've lost me, last time I did rom flashing was on a very old XDA and ive forgtten..help!?!
You just have to go to WM6 artemis part of the forum, read the topics about "how to flash" and use the last wm6 rom B&B v3.7.
Before that, ensure bootloader mode is available.
Good luck
huh
1 I don't know how to know if bootloader mode is available
2 I think im on WM5!?
If it is a UK model then he can flash it back to the original ROM using the microSD card first if it will not connect by USB cable.
Yes its an 02 XDA Orbit and I live in the uk and it is a UK phone...so I guess I can but how the hell!? lol Thankyou by the way you may have saved me!
As it seems no backup was done, what about trying to ask a repair center if they can "unlock" the password. Of course you will have to show to purchase invoice ....
Thanks, that will be my alternative if the rom flash doesnt work...just need to be told how to do it via micro sd!!!!

I will PM you about the file you need as all references to it seem to have been removed from the site.
You then put the file onto an empty microSD card and put the card into the phone.
When you turn on the phone ho hold in the 'record' button (top left hand side viewed from the front of the phone) and the phone should go into boot-loader mode and recover the OS from the microSD card.
EDIT: NOT removed, just unpinned! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314866
Does it matter if anything else is on the SD card?
Do I need to update to a newer WM5 Rom after as I think i saw that 02 1 is a bit old??

Sorry, but doesnt a hard reset solves this problem?? (if the lock is on the phone) sipmle and quick solution.
If it is the sim that is locked, contact you provider.
Considering flashing the ROM is deffinately going to wipe any saved texts etc. Surely a simpler option is a hard reset?
Press and hold both soft-keys, press the stylus into the reset hole, release reset, wait for message on screen and release soft-keys.
This will return the phone to out-of the -factory state, so again you will loose all saved data in system memory and all installed applications in system memory.

Not quite. Flashing the ROM will erase your "sentimental" messages.

Yes, but it is looking like he is going to lose them no matter what happens.
Just Hard Reset it....Wont ask for the password...you will loose your data on the device though....and if your data is on the PC can sync again...no issue there...but the service centers will not remove the password...I had the same issue...and thats what i did.
cheers
yeah all you have to do is hard reset the pda and then the password will be erased, along with all your data ofc.
It would be interesting though to find a way to "crack" the password or somehow remove or bypass it.....
like some kind of PUK code?

[Q] HTC TP2 Sprint Screen Alignment calibration problem - help

Hi everyone,
I have a TP2 Sprint & had to do a hard reset due to SENSE start up corruption (working fine with SENSE disable) but my screen alignment got stuck after reset so I did a bypass with Code Factory - Remote Screen Alignment with skip via PC sync. I tried to use a WIZA200.dat file with 1922,1957 3330,639 3317,3276 600,3230 609,677 or with 174,928,858,932,499,554,160,194,840,195 to calibrate from installing within C:/Program Files/Code Factory/Remote Screen Alignment but it still did not work ( I think by using the software & hitting SKIP option does not help installing the .dat file; the other 2 options on the software are to retrieve info & to run an alignment). The alignment seems to be upside down on screen.
Software option:
-Is there a alignment calibration file on the device that I can replace with? If there is, could someone please upload the Sprint TP2 file & let me know where to install?
Hardware option:
If any without replacing part like loose cable,.. I did have to
Thanks for your help!
Ethan

Hard reset to factory default
Why can't you just hard reset it again and actually go though the calibration process?
There used to be a way to force WinMo to calibrate as well, I can't remember what they key combo was right now...

I have reset many times. The calibration process is the problem (hardware; but it works fine before the reset due to SENSE software problem). It would keep re-calibrate in cycle. Thanks.

A factory reset usually fixes those sorts of problems.

I think it's best you send it back to where you got it then and let them have a look. Otherwise you could try flashing your original firmware again incase your current one has missing components.

Send it it back is definitely not going to happen cause I've tried that lol... But to flash the firmware wouldn't I need USB debugging checked? I hope not cause i can't get to it and is there any tutorials that could give me a step by step instructions?

I'd better let someone more qualified answer your query but I'm pretty sure your situation can be recovered easily. What happens if you try to reflash the firmware again with the correct settings? These phones are pretty hard to brick!

there probably is SOME way to fix it, i am sure, but the phone does not even boot into recovery.
Mediatek phones are hard to brick, haha
It is PROBABLY going to give a headache in order to find the needed files, flash the stuff again and etc using the proper way, but PROBABLY your phone will relive again. Try rooting and installing Eragon after a full wipe, if that option is available.

Does anybody have 47.1.A.16.20 UK cusom?

Hey all
I very recently made the mistake of upgrading my phone, not realising that it was a complete overhaul from 8.0 to 9.0. I absolutely hate it. There are a dozen downsides and, as far as I have noticed, not a single benefit to this upgrade. I have gotten frustrated many times already due to the stupid little changes and have spent a good portion of my day attempting to figure out how to reverse it.
Now I'm not that tech-savvy, and the only method to get back the phone I knew and loved is to 'flash' it (?) using a software which I have acquired. I must also apparently make sure to back up my data because downgrading in this manner apparently does not ensure any of your personal data is protected.
So my question here is twofold:
1. Does anybody have the UK version for the latest 47.1.A.16.20 firmware as an appropriate file (FTF?) for me to get back the phone I paid for as opposed to this crap?
2. What would be an appropriate method of backing up my phone such that I can recover it all post-flash with all of my settings and user data intact?
Thank you all so very much for your help!

Just downgrade it yourself, you won't damage the phone or change your warranty status.
Here is a copy of 47.1.A.16.20, It's not the UK version, but that makes no difference
Download Newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware you downloaded
Delete persist*.sin to avoid losing android attest key.
Turn phone off completely. Then start newflasher.exe and follow instrctions. Plug the phone into the pc whilst holding volume up(+), then no & no in the newfalsher dialog box, then you should be away.
You might need a copy of the Sony driver
I would make a backup with Xperia transfer before you do anything, you can't keep your data when you downgrade, so this would be the easiest way of keeping the important stuff. Back up onto your sdcard, then restore once the flash has completed.

Hi Steve, I accidentally installed the update today and I wish to revert too. Apparently the Xperia XZ1c has DRM keys for things like the camera and video processing which if custom firmware is flashed will be lost. Is this an issue when flashing an older version of a stock xperia rom like you are suggesting? Thanks

No unlocking the bootloader is an entirely seperate procces and can't be done accidently flashing firmwares. You have to get an unlock code from Sony and do some ADB magic.
There is another tools called Flashtool, that does the same thing as Newflasher, but has the power to delete your DRM, if driven improperly, so I don't recomend that.
Newflasher is safe to use and won't damage your TA partition (DRM keys), just note the persistxx.sin removal, that stops damage to one of the partitions.
You can't keep you data when retro-grading, you must wipe the phone to factory, there isn't any other way.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm backing up my phone right now. You mentioned the persistxx.sin removal, sorry if the answer is obvious but I'm a bit new to all this, does Newflasher do this automatically or do I need to do it myself? If so, how does one go about removing it?

Hey PCB! Could you tell me more about all those downsides? I'd like to know more before/if I (ever) decide to upgrade.
I know that clock on the left-hand side would irritate me. Also, volume buttons defaulting to media is something I don't like.
But you mentioned "a dozen" so I'm curious.
Tnx!

Hey man! I wrote up a few reasons on a Reddit post earlier so I'm just going to paste that if that's okay!
Volume button now always does media volume instead of a sliding scale for normal stuff ie ringtone
Lots of irritatingly unnecessary changes such as the time now being in the top right so my muscle memory has me checking the time and I'm momentarily confused.
They've changed the overall aesthetic to be more Apple-y resulting in a really weird look, making the text in most places look larger than usual (especially the notifications).
The pull-down-from-the-top menu now shows two rows of enlarged buttons instead of three like before.
The WiFi and Bluetooth drop down menus have gone, so now if you want to quickly switch between two networks instead of being able to do it all in one screen you have to go to the settings page for WiFi and Bluetooth.
(this one is very minor) the colour of the keyboard has gone from black and orange (which I liked) to black and blue.
I know it sounds like I'm being awfully nitpicky but honestly the few bits of functionality that were removed were things I relied on a lot; I just don't appreciate such ****ty unnecessary changes for no apparent reason.
As far as I can see, there are absolutely no improvements or upgrades or anything at all that I can point to and go "yeah that's worth it."
I've been using this update for only a little while and I'm sure that there are other things which'll pop out at me over time as well!
Hope this helps mate

These two are absolutely unacceptable. An update should never remove features or make previous things harder to do, this update is an absolute joke. Now once again I have to go through the arduous process of factory resetting my phone to downgrade simply because Sony couldn't put out a competent update to save their lives.
Thanks mate! I agree with you 100%. The phone is "perfect" just the way it is and some changes, that Google and Sony made, should totally have been optional. I would upgrade it just for curiosity.... but I don't wanna regret it later.
Cheers!
Are we talking about toggles? You do know that you can add a third row? For WiFi and Bluetooth just do the long press and go to settings.
I've just updated and am I wrong or the recent app switcher and the navigation bar are still the same and not the Pie version?

I can only have two rows shown at a time on mine! I looked in the settings as well, any other buttons now have to be swiped across to access because of how ludicrously large they made them.

Hi, me again
I tried flashing the phone today with newflasher but to no avail. I downloaded those xperia drivers, added them using device manager, and the hardware wizard gave the following message
"The following hardware was installed:
Sony sa0117 ADB Interface Driver
The software for this device is now installed but may not work correctly.
This device cannot start (Code 10)"
I tried flashing anyway after the phone had been put into debug mode but newflasher simply prompts whether or not I need GordonGate flash driver. If I type "n" to skip, it throws the error
"No usb device with vid:0x0fce pid:0xb00b !"

If you're using Windows 10 it would have completly failed to install your driver and didn't bother telling you. Restart Windows 10 in safe mode and look for 'driver signing disabled', then try again.
Edit: or click 'Yes' to first question in Newflasher and it will prodice a zip file of the drivers you need, then apply as above.
