I have the 2.1 stock rom on my DI. They pushed the update, but it had an error of some kind during install (I'm sorry, but I don't remember exactly what it was. It one of those mostly useless error messages... like "installation had an error"). Anyways... I can't figure out how to get the stock 2.2 update. I did some searching around in the forums and didn't see anything outside of custom roms and stuff... Can someone link me to a thread or give me some ideas?
thank you!
If you're rooted and have clockwork recovery installed, this should be exactly what you want:

As of right now there is no possible way. But give it time.
i'm looking to downgrade as well if anyone hears of anything!
I was reading about someone downgrading their nexus one froyo back to eclair using andoid sdk and some rooted sign file and a recovery file. Lucky nexus one users lol.
Anyone know anything about this?
if you want to downgrade then wait, it took a long time to root the last OTA.
If you want to upgrade and keep root, NEVER accept anything from sprint, only install from XDA or a similar forum.
The fact that this is an entire OS upgrade can either be a good or bad thing in how long it's going to take to root.
Look at it this way: If you could downgrade to 2.1, there would be no warnings or questions about how to root after flashing the 2.2 update. The answer would be "downgrade to 2.1 and root it like before."
But once 2.2 is rooted, you will most likely be able to flash a 2.1 stock or custom ROM if you wish. Just make sure you flash one that's pre-rooted.
Thanks for all the info guys, I wanted to downgrade to run cyanogen mod and overclock etc.
I am taking my phone back to sprint today to get it replaced because of screen issues, but i cant seem to unroot it i have tried the ruu.exe files but they give me errors saying i need to update something, then i tried just flashing an older rom and updating to android 2.2 but it wont install the update, can anyone help me? i was thinking i could maybe flash an unrooted file from recovery but i dont know where to find one :/
You say the ruu.exe is asking to update something? Can you be more specific...I mean is it just asking you to update to the latest HTC Sync drivers? I am not sure if I can personally help but that info would render a better reply from someone who possible could...
it says error 140 bootloader version error the rom update utility cannot update your android phone please get the correct rom update utility and try again :/
There are 3 different versions...try the 1.47 one and see how it goes.
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
yeah i get the same error on all 3 :/
I assume you have done a factory reset then tried? I got no further clue but this ^bump^ in hopes someone more qualified can see your issue quicker...
yeah i have factory reset all 3 times i tried, all i can think of that would not make it work is i have the 2.2 radios installed on it could that be it? because i unrooted my roomates evo just fine and the only difference was he didnt have the newer radios on it
There are other ways but as I just posted in another thread...
I would re-run root with the simple root 1.47 edition...this would get you back to a fresh root. Then re-try the 1.47 RUU.exe...
This has saved me a couple of times...
I have Froyo and installed unrevoked forever before I updated. I can't get clockwork mod on and I am unable to to root so I can't get any of my backups restored. I hope somebody out there can help me out with this issue. Thanks in advance.
Do you have the OTA Froyo or the leak?
I used the RUU exe leak that is suppose to be same as OTA
Well I'm certainly no "expert" at this but I have been reading quite a bit lately about how to gain root access after the OTA comes out (I was rooted with the July leaked 2.2, but last night I installed uforever and then reverted back to 2.1 and 1.0 radio for the pending OTA). Try following this link and check out the bottom of the page where it talks about "reinstalling an official recovery"...it gives the download to re-install clockwork recovery (this is of course if you have S-off). Then it also gives the download to get back superuser access. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but if your version of 2.2 is exactly the same as the OTA, this should work just the same for you. Good Luck!

I didn't see a link in your post????

Sticky #6 for a reference...these forums are getting overrun by people who don't follow posting rules. Wading through "help me" posts in the Development forums is getting horrible. Wish the mods would start enforcing some of these rules.

Yep I do have S-off which is why I'm confused
hmmm...sry but I don't think I can be of more help...maybe someone else has an idea??
I believe you have to drop the recovery (CW) .zip onto the SD and it will update through the HBOOT. I think you can get it from the unrevoked site (P****.zip or something or other.
Pretty sure SD card has to be FAT32 for it to update correctly, had that problem myself
I would like to get the OTA update that comes out this days , but I cannot do that because the unrevoked block this option for me. when i try to update it wrote that my system is up tp date. Are there directions somewhere on how to do this for the unrevoked3 setup? Thanks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771178
Try this. You're either condition 3 or condition 4. Very easy to do, you don't need to remove unrevoked forever (and if you want to keep root access you shouldn't.) to update to the official 2.2. Just use the official 2.2 RUU that's floating around on the boards.
wow it look to complicated to me...
is ther any chance that the unrevoked team will publish a patch for that that will install the 2.2 on the 2/1 unrevoked?
on any other One klick solition?
Help
Hey there to anyone who reads this post. I am stuck going crazy tonight. Long story made as short as possible. I am trying to down grade but none of the video's are working for me. I followed the youtube video to gain root access to my incredible however I guess I dont have clockwork which is necessary for me to go back to 2.1 so I can get everything right. Is there anyway to fix this so I can start over from scratch? My AIM is reddawn1563 and my email is [email protected] someone please help me. THanks Pat
This may sound stupid but why do people want to downgrade. You can upgrade to the official 2.2 right now with a rooted device. Whats the difference?
My problem is that I cannot get the clockwork recovery thing to work so I cant load any other roms or anything like that
Just load a 2.2 Rom and the updated radio, then you have everything the ota update provides and no hassle. It's literally the same thing.

Hi,
Using the search option gives me temporarily not available... So don't blame me if there already was a topic about it
I'm on android 2.2, rooted and S-OFF and changed a couple images here and there, some stockappsn removed, but nothing big.
So, I got a prompt to install systemupdate 2.3
My question is: can I do this safely while my DHD is rooted and all? Or do I need to restore my phone back to stock-version? I remember that updating from (i believe it was) 2.1 to 2.2 it errored because it verified all the files on it (and it failed because I had some **** tweaked). Will this happen to me (and leaving me with a brick maybe)?
Thanks !
Maurice
im not 100% sure, i've heard different people say different things.
In my opinion, i dont think anything will happen, but i havent tried it so....
but if it does work,..., you will lose root for sure.
what i did is downloaded a stock-rooted ROM from HERE. - this is the official update, but just modified to be rooted. check it out.
i just flashed it with CWM recovery
