I've looked on google and with a hex editor at eri.xml. Am I being dumb or is there not a solution to changing the carrier name to whatever on the dropdown notification bar and lockscreen?
Thread moved to Q&A.
Yes that file is in framework-res.apk from system/framework

I tried manually changing this like i did on my eris, didnt seem to take effect. Also not seeing any display on the default (non sense based lockscreen).
They may be hiding it somewhere else, ill update if i find out where
Please do. It would be funny to change the carrier name with something that would make someone do a double take.
?

So its been a while since I had to edit the header to say Cordell's, or Galaxy S II. The lockmod allowed me to do this. I have forgotten the file name/location that needs to be editted to change the "Sprint" to "Whatever".
anyone remember?
Thanks

Hmm. If I remember correctly, I remember seeing it in /system/build.prop
If not there, somewhere in the framework-res.apk .. sorry I can't be of more help, passed my bed time lol.

I just tried the method we used on the Evo 3D, using QPST. FAIL!
Nobody knows/remembers-where/how to do this?
Is there a way to change the provider name in the banner and under settings and status? Pretty sure it can be done, just don't know how, thanks.

It is inside of framework-res.apk
decompile and go to res\values\strings.xml
search for sprint I think it is in there like 3 times. Change to what you would like.
recompile and put it back on your phone.
Thank you very much , now to figure out how to decompile APKs lol
I use apk manager or apktool. The line you want to change is <string name="zz_roamingText1">Sprint</string> change the "Sprint" to whatever you want.

Maybe he wants to scam someone that this phone is on the Verizon network and then sell this
Tell em it a Straight Talk phone. One of a kind.
When I change the strings and recompile, I either get the '!' in the batter meter or the screen goes blank after the bootanim. I've recompiled plenty of stuff and normally don't have any problems. I half know what's causing it I think, but I need a little help. When using apkmanager to compile it, I tell it it's a system app and let it copy over unchanged files. Since I'm changing an xml I know have to delete the resources.arsc and xml that I changed from the 'keep folder'. Problem is the res/values/ folder doesn't exist in the 'keep' folder.
Any ideas how to compile it properly?

Go to framework-Res / XML / eri.sprintxml
Line 41 & 65 is were edit will need to be made.
Line 41 - <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="99" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Sprint"
Change Sprint text seen above to what ever you want displayed....I Recommend "UnNamed"
Do the same in line 65

I have been trying to find this image and cannot. In the screen shot I am trying to take the progress bar you see in green and go blue with it. I have looked through both frameworks and systemui and anything else I can think of. I can find several twprogressbar PNG's but they are already blue from the theme Im using. Does anyone know where that image is at. Thanks in advance.
try secdownloadprovider.apk
Just checked. No green pngs in it either. Thanks.
Checked both. The actual provider doesn't even have a Res folder. Kinda odd.
Its an xml not a PNG. I don't have a PC right now so I can't look and tell u the exact one but dazed knows. I would send him a pm. Sorry I couldn't be more help but it changed in ICS and without being able to look I can't remember which it is.

Hey that is awesome. Thank you. I throught I was going insane. Its the only green really left and I wanted to try and change it. I'm not the greatest with XML but I can give it a shot. Thanks again. I'll shoot him a PM after while.
Its really easy to change. If u want u can download my theme or Dazed‘s blue theme or an ICS theme and when u know the exact one u can swap them out or you can open them up and look at it so u get an idea. U need to use something like notepad++ to edit the XML and if your going to make the change yourself your going to need to decompile the apk because just extracting it with 7zip or something won't allow u to edit the XML. U won't be able to read it.

Thanks. Once I know which one it is I may do that. The hardest time I'm having right now is decompiling and recompiling ICS frameworks without issues. I am using APk multi tool and for the life of me I cannot get it to see the project. I try to decompile with dependencies and it says select a project so I do. But it never selects. I'll keep playing with it. But if burst knows which one it is that would be awesome. I see he's now in the thread.

Apk manager is the best. I'm tired so too lazy to read previous posts, but the progress bar XML is progress_horizontal.XML under framework-res.apk > Res > Layout.

I just decompiled that and couldnt seem to see that file in the layout folder. maybe im looking in the wrong place?
Edit, there is one in the drawable folder?
Well I changed out the Progress_horizontal.xml and the TWprogress_horizontal.xml from the drawable folder. I used the framework from Tiffs ICS with a twist of Honey theme v1.0. That damn bar is still green. Verified all the PNGs were right. And made sure that I did indeed get thee right xmls switched over. Not sure what else to try. I looked in the layout folder and there wasn't a file named that in there. and ideas?
My bad, it is drawable. For ICS, it might be a part of SystemUI. (They also placed the battery mods in there.) Try those sub folders and search for "progress". I haven't done any ICS theming as of yet, but I think that should do it.

I think I may have got it, I just decompiled and changed the color code in the progress_horizontal.xml and recompiled. I looked through systemui and didn't see any files with that name. I'm flashing now so we will see shortley. Thanks for all your help. I will post back in just a few with the results.
Nope. OK, time to browse systemui a little better.
Found another one in tw.framework
OK, so I think I know what my issue is, problem in my process. thanks again. post back when i figure something out. if anyone has anymore input its all welcome.
OK, Im at a loss. I have changed it in both frameworks. still that bar is green, i dont get it.

Just out of curiosity, why?
To sort of answer your question, you'd have to look for it with in the System.apk.
Extract it, open it, look for the divider image file, edit it, recompress it, and then replace it with your system.apk.
System apk???
Its in the framework-res.apk in /res/drawable-xhdpi look for some pngs titled "dividers" I'm unsure about the exact name.

No as each apk sets the don't color staticly so you would have to edit all the base files and every apk
