WM 6.5.x+videocall+smartdialing+manila=possible? - P3600 ROM Development

Hello, I couldn'nt find any WWE or ITA rom with WM 6.5.x (big keys down), videocalls working with smartdialer and manila... Is it something impossible on trinity?

As far as I know on WM6.5 there are no cooked ROMs with videocall + smartdialing. Something about an incompatibility.

Is there anybody in the US that I can test a video call with? I can make the call if you prefer. I MAY have a fully working ROM just as mentioned above, but I want to test before getting anyone's hopes up. It's 23569 6.5.0 which includes Conversation View in Email, and some other cool stuff. I just don't know anyone to test Video Calling with.
Thank you. Please PM me if you want my number, or vice versa.

SuperSport,
Is it base from your 23569 M2D Blue ROM? Possible to upload the video call cab so I can try the video calls with my wife.
(Don't think my SP allow me to make long distance video calls)

I PM'd you a link. Unfortunately, it's a Complete ROM. I'm sorry I don't have a cab as I don't know the specific pieces to pull out to get it working (Yet ).
Thank you for testing this for me. I just don't want a bunch of people downloading just to find out it does not work. But I am able to use Smart Dialing, and Video Starts up when I call myself, but says unable to complete the call. I'm hoping it's just because I'm calling myself.
Keep in mind the Dialer is not in the correct theme color yet. I will finish cleaning up the ROM once I confirm it works.
Also, this is 23504, based on my 23504 M2D Blue. I had to back down, but I believe I'll be able to jump back up to 23569 once I know it works. It takes me a LOT of hours to work on this, so I don't want to jump back up unless I need to.

Thank you! Now, to make a useable ROM out of it. Maybe a few Usable ROMs. I've already started to clean it up and finish the Dialer Skin, but there's still a lot to do. This was the hard part though. It's been about a year that I've been trying to get this working. Smart Dialer, Video Calls, and WM6.5.

whats the status now... were u able to get everything working as you expected...

can someone give me an advice?
thanks
u should really read thru the forum there are tons of postings on 3g dialer. welcome to the site. but to not get flammed i would for sure use the search function for "3g dialer"
doesnt work
thanks 4 your prompt answer, i have installed "schaps video dailer" it became purpel but the video buttom doesnt shows.
what should i do?
It was reported that none of the actual 3G dailer works on the new WM6 rom but Black's one (part1,part,part3). It can be found on the thread of my rom (near the last page I think); but it is a very very unclean way to get a 3G dialer.

Question for you Fun_Key... What's the recommended way to load up the 3G dialer? Do you know if a package is available? I haven't had any luck with the package maker or with Schen's 3g either.
Thanks!

fun_key's method (part1,part2,part3) works fine but as he said, it seems quite an unclean way, i mean opening up the windows folder would now take me 10-12 seconds compared to previously 2-3 seconds.Aside from that, havent really noticed any other slowdown but i'd really like to know fun_key's other way of incorporating the 3g dialer....Fun_key if you could help us on this please? I noticed that u did it on the last version of ur rom and I'd really like to know how u did it...
What seems to slow windows listing is to overwrite ROM files. If the files are allready in rom, no problem.
What I did was something like that: Look into the part1.cab with a cab tool, copied all the data to the ROM and the registry. But 2 of the bmp located in the part1.cab are corrupted. You will find in a folder called wm6 extra or something like an uncorrupted copy of those file. Replace the corrupted file with the good one and you're done.
The part1,part2,part3 is an unpretty workarround to get rid of those corrupted file.
I also did some test with the beloved Kaiser 3G dialer, and everytime I made a video call my phone allmost crashed (work fine though). Any further information about this issue welcome (thread jacking on it's way )
Thanks Fun_Key! Will give it a try and see if we can come up with a new cab installer!
If anyone else has done this already, I would appreciate it if someone would let us know so I don't have to reinvent the wheel!
Thanks Everyone!

Please help, 3G video dialler not working for me.
Hi all.
Sorry for double posting my problem, but Fun_Keys ROM thread is now 28 pages deep, nearly 300 posts, and growing!!
This thread is relevant to my problem, so I add it here -
I have Fun_Keys WM6 1.5.2 on my UK T-Mobile Vario II hermes and after enabling the video dialling button using the advanced config tool, I still cant make video calls.
I've tried calling somebody with a 3G phone who can video dial other people. If he video calls me, he gets a service unavailable beeping sound. If I call him, I just get nothing but this dialog -
"Fail to make the video call. What do you want to do?"
Try again
Make voice call
Send SMS
Send MMS
Does anybody have any ideas what to look for to sort the problem out? I'm very new to custom 3g dialers and custom WM6 ROMs. I've taken a look around but cant find anything suitable. Its now the only thing I'm missing from the original firmware.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Stu

3G Kaiser/Touch Dialpad/Extra Stuff

Here's my compilation of the Kaiser 3G dialpad. I've taken a few of the 3G dialpads around and made one that appears to work well.
I've also attached a non-3G dialpad and a 3G Touch Comm Manager - both working well also.
Please post your feedback / results.
Here's the non-color 6 button Comm Manager as well: Download Link
Post 2 has the color version.
Here's another comm manager - this one uses the color icons from Schap's latest and very nice 4.31 ROM - please pass on kudo's to him for a nice update
One note is to say that the 3G dialpad doesn't include VTKey.exe. If the dialpad cab doesn't fully work for you, try adding this to Windows and resetting your device. I can add it in if needed.
Attched is a Task manager cab that adds the reg edit / suspend / reset function.
A link to an MMS cab if you find you need it after flashing a non-MMS ROM. ArcSoft MMS 4.2.8.1
It works like Charm to my Hermes and looks really beautiful.
Many thanks for your untired efforts...!!!!
Very grateful

for me, all I get are black boxes and after a couple seconds a message that I need to switch to voice or sms. Gotta love AT&T...
In the past on other dialers, this was identical and they were reported working - so I would suspect that all is good here.
Just posted a 6 Button Comm Manager version as well.
Matt,
Re the 3G dialer, I have heard that the 3 icons that run up the right hand side should in fact sit above the numbers 1,2 and 3 so that the viewing window is larger and more rectangular. My understanding is that the way they sit in your thumbnail is a bug that needs fixing.
Is this correct and if yes, how can this be rectified? I use this dialer, configured in this way in one of Kin0kin's roms and I absolutely hate the way it is configured. Worse still is that very few other dialers will work with K's roms; therefore there is very little opportunity to go for something else, e.g Schaps video dialer, which I think is a great looking dialer.
Would appreciate you throwing some light on the visual configuration question.
Thanks
WB
i installed the touch 3g dialer on my 8525 but the numbers are not showing up properly. i have schaps 4.30 installed, do these two files not work together?
What will happen if I use that dialpad and my provider doesnt support video calls? That button just wont work?

You'll get a message that 3G isn't available if you press the video button, otherwise it works like a regular dialer.
Dude you did really a good job
Tried it on my German ROM tonight and its working!!
Only the button below the video is not perfect here.
It shows the german word for "call now".
Maybe its because of the german mui files.
I always tought this button is for the last dailed numbers..
Is it right that this one is now the call button?
See screenshots..
Will test the rest tomorrow need some hours sleep atm
Thank you. It's awesome
here is another great Dialer!
Thank you. Finally got one 3G Kaiser dialpad working on my Trinity. No problem with making 3G video call as well. So far so good.

No it will not work, upgrade to Schaps 4.31.
New rev of the comm manager posted in post 2.
Not ignoring your guy's issues. Hopefully I'll have a chance soon to figure out the issue and improve the install with the dialer on his roms.
Yes. I noticed that the button below the video call button is a "call" button as well. Would be nice if it is mapped to "call history" (We already have a permanent hardware "call" button). Thanks!

[REQ]: 3G OEM Dialer for Trinity

Can anyone point me 3G Dialer OEM package (I personally prefer Diamond style Phone Canvas) which behave normally in QVGA?
I've been trying for some time to build my own ROM for Trinity with only the basic stuff included.
What I miss the most (after the Camera which I recently found) is proper 3G dialer. I've tried doesens and doesens of dialers, but noone is working graphically or functionally proper.
Some dialers are behaving great, but they all have the same problem: after pressing the power button to wake the device they gain the focus and displayed onscreen. Some of them even begin dialing the last number after resume by pressing the power button. If there is no other proper working dialer ... can someone tell me how to fix this bug ?
And please don't tell me how to search the forum ... I've almost read it all article by article
P.S. Why all the cookers "protect" their ROM's from dumping? Why is this necessary? What can I steal ... isn't it all "free"?

sorry ... there's no way ... not at least if you're not familiar with engineering.. it's all about phcanrc.dll ... this file is responsible for layout of the dialer and the button config i guess - i replaced this file a couple of times ... if we could patch this file to work correctly on trinity we would be done...

maybe it's not in phcanhtc.dll (main) or phcanrc.dll (resource) but somewhere in XIP/OEM. That would explain why opal's dialer works in some Hermes ROMs...
Guys, I don't know if this helps, but I've been using 3G dialer from Schen, originally made to Hermes but fully functional with Trinity (I didn't detect any major problems so far). The only minor problem I found is with battery icon; this dialer package replaces your current icon. As for the rest, very stable and functional (I'm unable to test video dialer, though; so I can't say it works, although it tries to make the call and warns about lack of 3G network).

There are two version of this dialer. One of them goes to Windows folder and does not work either the cab or the oem.
The second version goes to a folder named Dialers. It works ... appart from the part that it is not in the windows folder and it has some minor graphical bugs. I am trying to fix it ... but without any success at the moment.
However there is another dialer that actually works: "Dialer_Touch_3G__v_2_02_By_Duronmarcel" (Attached). Converting this cab to oem does not work for me ... for unknown reasons.
"NiAx Trinity 6.1.70 BlueAngel" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437735) uses this dialer but unfortunately NiAx is still not responding to my question.

@nosedive
@g77
The package attached is working on Trinity.
It contains 3G (ie. video dialing functionality) but it is not active when installed (as a matter of fact I think that this is Diamond dialer but rewritten by HTC for QVGA Jade). At first I thought that it would work with Diamond Video Telephony pack ... but no luck.
There are some lines in the rgu file which contains valuable information ... maybe
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\ContextMenus\AppView\MSCdial\{1AD110A1-B3E6-4CB9-AC0F-69E059AFBFEF}]
@="DPadMenu.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DialParser]
"DLL-OEM"="ddcall.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin]
"ext"="\\windows\\phcanhtc.dll"
Because diamond does not have video dial button it has an option in the context menu. I think that what we are facing here is some dependancies being responsible for the lack of the video call option.
Please ... tell me what you think about that.
P.S.
This dialer always shows after resume and sometimes dials last number ... this is issue yet to be solved.
I've tried a solution posted somewhere in the forum ... something about "ShowTitleBarClock" in the registry ... don't work at all.
I've created clean ROM (nothing but the dialer) ... the same story ... this made me sure that this is not some cross-application problem.

Opal phone canvas slide to answer question

I'm loving NFSFAN's new Bell ROM, but i'm not crazy about the slide to answer on the phone canvas.
I'm looking for a way to replace the slide to answer / ignore with buttons instead of a slider while keeping everything else the same.
I've researched different skins for this dialer (there are some cool looking ones out there!!) but none of these change the slider.
Any help would be appreciated.
This one works for me; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429179. There is also a black version somewhere Google 'Black Minimal Dialer'
I've now been using NFSFAN's ROM for a few days now.
Must say i've gotten quite used to the dialer. I like all of the other features. Especially the "in call curtain". While i'm still not in love with slide to answer I understand the concept of why it was created. If I want to press a button that's what the hardware key is for!!
I wasn't really looking for a new dialer, but i've learnt the slide is an integral part of the package.
Thanks for the response anyways. You were the only one to do so. (everyone else was probably busy shaking their heads!!!)
now mine might sound like a really stupid question, but can I install the opal's slide to answer dialer on my sprint htc vogue ? are all the ## codes working for you on your phone ?
Yes, everything works (911 etc)
In NFSFAN's words, the data connection is not active during a call, it just breaks the data errors.
The dialer is included in his ROM, i'm not really sure if the same one is found anywhere in CAB format. A quick google search for "opal slide to answer CDMA" should yield some results for you.

now i can't find a single good cab which displays everything like it should... i don't want to do any more trial and error and find out... please help me on this ...
i dont mind not having the canvas - atleast i get a bigger picture on caller screen and thats all i want right now...
I know s2u2 has a large picture to answer the phone with.
I don't use it anymore, I found it drained my battery too fast. With NFSFAN's rom and the opal dialer it isn't really needed anyways.
Sorry none of the links led to anything fruitful, my only experience with this dialer is in the custom ROM. Must say it has grown on me though!!

I had trouble getting the dialer to work initially also. It seemed to be tied to the rom build that something changed after the 20XXX rom build was released. If I used anything earlier it wouldn't work. If your on a stock rom that may be part of the issue. Not sure, but just my experience in fixing the issue.
It is tied to a shell component.

Hey thanks for the reply NFSFAN, the slide to answer was the only part of your ROM that I didn't really like......at first. I couldn't imagine going back to the old dialer now.
It is good to learn what's possible and what's not though, thanks again for the answer.
Cheers,
Jason

Yes, everything works (911 etc)
In NFSFAN's words, the data connection is not active during a call, it just breaks the data errors.
The dialer is included in his ROM, i'm not really sure if the same one is found anywhere in CAB format. A quick google search for "opal slide to answer CDMA" should yield some results for you.

Codes don't work for me on the verizon beta rom. Is it just me or do you have to use the folder rather than the dialer?

How to Enable Video Call on Diamond w/WM6.5

I need advice. Can anyone advice how to enable the videocall on Diamond with WM6.5?? Appreciate
in germany you need umts. i think it the same what 3g was by apple. dont really know, but normal gsm is to slow for viedo.
the same question!
Anybody?
I've never made a video call but... First turn on your 3g in comm manager, if not enabled, then check if your rom's dialer has video call button. Then, at least in my country it's that way, call your operator to see if video call is supported with your plan and activate it if not, then the person you are calling should also have it enabled and supported. Then all should be working.
Is it because the video call option isnt there on your dialer?
Thats whats holding me back from WM6.5..
Video is part of the HTC dailer not the MS one thats included. You will need to install the HTC dailer. Take note tho, your lock screen will not work fully anymore, and on some dailer versions, if you scroll, text will overlap from both dail pads. I don't run any of this but following Miri's thread, this is what has generally been reported.
Looks like WM6.5 is still very experimental at this stage.
I don't really use the lock feature anyway, but overlapping text scrolling would be a prob.
I'm mainly interested in WM6.5 coz Im wondering if I would be happier with it's default today screen.. so I can make do without TF3D, thus leaving it with more memory left.
Any soul here can lead us to the HTC video dialpad which actually works well with WM6.5?
I had the same problem and I solved installing this two cabs found on the forum......
Install first "VideoTelephony_Diamond_Swtos"

Maybe we can disable certain dailer PAD, it will make your system cannot support video call.

HOPE you all know that you have to get it enabled by the operator (for example i had to ask Orange to enable it for me)
