Hi,
I am unable to install custom Rom using the Rom manager. Whenever I select a Rom from Rom manager it restarts and take me to the restart menu but I don't see any option to run/install Rom

try flashing without using rom manager. Download the rom you want to flash (either through rom manager, or by a direct link) and put it on your sdcard. Power off your phone, then power it back on while pressing down the volume at the same time. Wipe what you need to wipe, then flash zip from sdcard.
as a rule, I only really use rom manager to download roms (if that) - not to flash them.
I just did what you wrote and it worked thanks!

I tried to update my clockwork to 3.0 , I was on 2.6 , I used rom manager to do the update, everything looked like it updated, rom manager shows that I'm on 3.0 , but when I boot into recovery it says I'm still on 2.6 , I've tried using the rom manager update several times with no results, any suggestions?

Do it manually from the bootloader screen. If i may, I would suggest you switch to amon RA v2.3. It is very simple to install and operate. Download amon RA from http://goo.gl/cgh5e and to install:
Shut down your EVO and then press & hold the volume down button while pressing the power button. When your EVO starts, you will be directed to the Hboot screen where amon RA zip file will be automatically detected and you will be prompted to install it. Follow the prompts to install. Installation will take less than 10 seconds to complete. Afterwards, reboot into recovery.
I'm using cm7 and they recommend staying with clockwork

Download Clockworkmod from http://mirrorbrain.cyanogenmod.com/cm/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-supersonic.img
Install it by using ADB and you must have the Flash_Image file on the root of your SD card. If you don't have a flash_image file, let me know and I'll send it to you via PM
start the terminal app or launch adb
su(press enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/ name of recovery file
UPDATE: I sent the flash_image file to you via PM.

Yes. Instructions can be found with a quick search.
Download mode -> ODIN to stock -> Put ClockworkMod recovery on SD -> Install CWM using stock recovery -> Happy flashing!

No. You don't use ODIN to flash cm10. Error 7 happens because of outdated recovery. Download ROM manager from the play store, install cwm through it and after its installed ...boot into recovery and flash cm10.

Ok, did it, and got the green pass light on odin and had him go back into recovery and ONCE AGAIN, back into the STOCK recovery.
I'm losing my mind with frustration!
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Also, why doesn't this work?

He rooted it I wasn't there when he did it.
It sure seems rooted it.. Super user is there and I already flashed a rom
But again, every CM10 based rom gives some sort of failure
and his recovery goes back and forth on its own from CWM to stock, its very strange
What recovery version does he have?

The one from goo-manager
Whatever goomanger puts on there.
The problem is, if he loads goo manager, tells it to download the recovery and reboots into recovery the recovery will there.
If he reboots a few times and then goes and reboots into recovery it will revert back into the stock recovery.
WTF!! lol
All you need to do is to install ROM manager from the play store and from it you can install the latest cwm recovery easily.

Yes, we installed Rom manager and when he clicks "flash clockworkmod recovery" he gets an error
I gotta wait till he gets home so he can tell me what the error is again
thanks
Ok I forgot, he doesn't get an error message when he goes to install the clockwork recovery via rom manager, he gets a message that he has to choose a phone and in that list there is no GSIII
which model should he choose ? THANKS
Yea so ok, something is seriously screwed here,
I had him flash the CWM recovery the third on this list
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28612095&postcount=558
Had him reboot into recovery and flash that zip, it was successful, I had him reboot into recovery from the touch recovery that we installed from goo-manager and he was indeed in the CWM recovery
Had him reboot the system, then again reboot into recovery from rom manager and sure enough it reboots into the stock android recovery.
Something is seriously wrong here.
I am totally at a loss
It has something to do with the flash counter. Since I'm not sure about it I would have him re root his phone using the toolkit and flash a recovery with the toolkit and see what happens.

Are you trying to root a kies/ota update? Canadian carriers put in an install script that removes custom recovery at every reboot.
Look for install.sh in the root of the phone's file system.

Mobile ODIN will allow you to do this.
As for where the file goes, the default download location from the browser is /sdcard/download.
If you're using the XDA app, the default is /sdcard/xda_download.

Assuming your phone is rooted, you don't need a pc to flash a ..zip rom or .tar.md5 files. Mobile Odin will do the .tar.md2 and Goomanager will install a TWRP recovery and flash .zip files.
-+
If you have a custom recovery flashed (I use CWM, witch you can get by downloading the ClockWorkMod app from the play store.), then all you have to do is boot into recovery (While powered off, hold volume up + home + power button untill the Samsung logo appears then immediately release all.), and install .zip from sd card. The files you download are most likely in your "download" folder on your sdcard. Make sure when you boot into recovery, to do a full wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe divalk cache (advanced menu) before flashing. This ensures a clean flash. Happy flashing!
Hey guys root the phone using galaxy's root3. I was able to create a back up. When I go to flash task rom or any rom I get this error in the photo any ideas?

The answers you got in Task's threads still stand. It's either that you have to update your cwm (make sure it's d2att) or you'll have to use TWRP.
You can also redownload or
cut out a line in the updater script but I don't suggest that.

You need to update your recovery. Either use rom manager or, if you can't boot up, download an cwm flashable zip located at the bottom of post #2 in my signature link. Place it on a micro sd card and flash it in recovery. Go to advanced and reboot recovery. Flash rom and gapps again
Either your recovery is outdated, or you are trying to flash a device that isn't displaying itself as an i747 (d2att). This could be because your using a Canadian version of the s3, or your trying to flash the att Rom on a tmo, vzw, or Sprint version of the phone.
I've rooted using one click root and I have King root app.
Now I want to install some recovery to install blisspop, but unable to install CWM recovery through Odin.
I've tried to install tar, but always going to stock and I'm unable to flash fix zip

Uncheck auto reboot in Odin. Once the flashing process finishes, remove battery, put it back and press volume up+home+power. It will boot to CWM
