Tested on JPC, should work on other ROMs to.
It's very simple to add the stock android keyboard.
You need root and the following 2 files
Code:
/system/app/LatinIME.apk
/system/lib/libjni_latinime.so
Copy these 2 files to the phone and «Android keyboard» will appear.
I used the two files from CyanogenMod 6 for Nexus One, they are attached in a zip (IT'S NOT A update.zip).
Hi I have a rooted phone but cannot use Astro to transfer to my /system directory... how else can i do this? thanks!

Works great.
I´ve created a signed update.zip to simplify this procedure.
Android 2.2 (Froyo) Stock Keyboard
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/BP6TY8Z4CG
Note: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Instructions:
- Download
- copy "update.zip" to your internal SD-Card
- Power off your Phone
- VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER to enter Recovery Mode
- apply update.zip
- Reboot
- Goto Settings -> Language and Text-Input
- Now there should be a new Entry named "Android Keyboard"

Anybody? Work it on Eclair 2.1 ?
Thanks on answer
I tried on eclair (JM8):
update.zip doesn't work, so i copied the files manually, but i don't see "Android Keyboard". SO it seems not to work on eclair
uhhh i think update.zip method is disabled in all 2.2 releases so it only works with 2.1 if im right.

yes, you are correct. but if you downgrade your recovery module from 3e to 2e, which i did, then the update.zip should work as it will not seek for any signed verification.

I think update.zip method only works with clockwork mod recovery because this update.zip is self-signed.

go to samdroid and look for the creator, Leshak. the update zip he created during rooting process also downgrade the reccovery. but cwm still will not work, because the mount points for eclair and froyo are different.
I'm on froyo JPC and recovery module 3e. Any other ways to get the stock android keyboard besides having to purchase the root explorer app?
No good with commands.. If there are any instructions, kindly advise. Thanks.

Instead of all that, use the APK from the thread below. Stock Google keyboard as an APK file which you can just copy to phone, touch and use.

Dconfig comes built into the DC rom - if you are using the latest DC rom, just open the app drawer and look for dconfig.
hmm, that didn't work, i might be doing something wrong, thanks though
You need to remove HtcLockScreen.apk from /system/app on the phone
or use Dconfig (included with damagecontrol roms..look in your app tray) and goto the banned apps and ban htclockscreen.
I had problems banning the HtcLockScreen too, & had to manually do it.
Using Android Terminal Emulator ( & after flashing the proper zip file) i ran:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system
cd /system/app
mv HtcLockScreen.apk /dcbanned

& then rebooted, & got the Vanilla Lock Screen.
[[ In another thread some other users had other mount commands ( someone told me the "yaffs2" part was not required ) but that command worked for me so that's why i posted it as-is. ]]

I banned htc lockscreen and it came up all messed up, if i want to unlock my screen i have to slide up, not across. i downloaded the vanilla theme but when press it to update it shows "No MD5 file according to the update was found" and if i hit apply it reboots and goes to a screen with a box and arrow for a brief moment and then it shows a exclamation mark and the android guy. it doesn't do anything after that please help.
That's the default Recovery. Do you have Clockwork Recovery installed? If so, DamageControl doesn'y work well with that. You can either replace it with Amon's Recovery or instead of applying the Theme after download, restart into Recovery manually, & flash it that way.
thank you very much. yes i did have clockword mod recovery but i managed to flash the image manually

1. the robot voice in first call issue without Disable Audible touch tones in Sound settings
2. the first call volume is too loud
Download:

How to install it?
A.
Code:
adb remount
adb push libaudio.so /system/lib
adb reboot
B.Using ROOT Explorer or my Super Manager for Android Market to copy the libaudio.so into /system/lib, and reboot your HD2

I think you should reflash the image.
Then you need program called Root Explorer, copy this update to system\lib
and after that you change permissions (you should look first on original file what permissions are...)
or just use update via AD recovery.... (look at post #13)

Note: Not all Baseband versions work with this hack, to know if it will work for you, go to settings-> system info and check if baseband version is "EPU93_U_00.59.01". If it is not indicated there, then try installing defybaseband switcher and look at info in the app
If your baseband version is different, you can try to change it to the one that works (nandroid backup first ) by downloading Baseband_change(EPU93_U_00.59.01).zip, and putting it in /sdcard/, and flashing it via recovery.
Flashing a zip has never been easier
Thanks to labsin, there's an easy flashable.zip that will:
Backup your original two files and put them in the folder "simlock_original_files" on your SD card (safety first )
Apply a modification to init.mapphone_umts.rc
Copy the fixed bp_ptc file
Go into recovery, flash Softunlock_defy_v1.1.zip that fits your baseband version and you're done!
!!YOU MUST REBOOT ONCE AFTER THE OPERATION BEFORE CHANGING SIMS!!
Voila!
Don't forget to reboot phone once!
Only then you can test by rebooting with another simcard
Hit thanks button if i helped you!
Any problems? I'm here to help
Changelog
v1.3:
ICS ROMs are now fully supported!
v1.2:
zip will check if the line to be added already exists, so it doesn't get added more than once
v1.1:

Troubleshooting
I have no signal when i put another simcard in my Defy
Have you rebooted at least once BEFORE changing sim cards??Try using Defybaseband switcher to select the correct frequencies for your carrierTry method below
You are still asked the unlock code
- Turn on Airplane Mode
- Run Terminal emulator and type "su" and then "bp_ptc"
- Turn ofr Airplane Mode
Airplane mode won't turn off
Flash the baseband(EPU.0.59..) file in the first post, then play around with your APNs and network settings untill you fix it (see post 308)
You are having trouble unlocking a stock ROM
See Post 260

I admit: I haven't tried this yet, but I did noticed that the OP says to replace init.mapphone_umts.rc to: /system/bootmenu/2nd-init/ and that your patch copies it to: /system/bootmenu/2nd-boot/ folder...
I'm could be wrong on this, but I believe that most people use 2nd-init boot by default (I've only used 2nd-boot while having ICS as dual boot before). But again; I'm just guessing here and could be totally wrong and it might make no difference...
Cheers, and btw, thanks for teaching me how to backup files [with a zip patch]

Hey guys
As you might know, many people want to enable SMS & MMS on their tablet.
Unfortunately, until now someone needed to manually edit your framework-res.apk
But not anymore!
I made a script that will do it automatically on any framework!
3 Steps for noobs (fully-automatic version):
1) Download it (v1.2 for noobs)
2) Connect your device to pc (usb-debugging enabled)
3) Extract and run LAUNCH THIS
4 Steps for smart people (semi-automatic version):
1) Download it (v1.2)
2) Extract & put YOUR framework-res.apk in the same folder
3) Run LAUNCH THIS
4) Push the SmSframework-res.apk to your device (don't ask how, i will also make a version for really noobish people, which will pull and push your framework automatically)
-----------------
CHANGELOG:
2012-03-02: Made script more clear to understand, added auto-reboot on noob version
-----------------
NOTICE:
Dear noob-version users, currently the script does not mount the system partition automatically as R/W, if you got such an error, please use Root explorer to mount the system as R/W
P.S. Dear Americans, most carriers block SMS in the US
I'll wait for the (version for really noobish people, which will pull and push your framework automatically) 'cause I'm a lil lazy right now LOL.
I will do backup, and give it a try! I'll be back to let you know how it went, Thanks.

however my original framework-res.apk was 7.98 MB in file size, whereas the new generated Smsframework-res.apk is 4.46 MB
Why is this difference in file size ?? Is anything stripped from the framework-res ?

Guys please don't repost it as your own work, otherwise I'll report it and you will get banned from XDA.
NOTE: If you have previously used the old EXE to install TWRP then please remove the old folders by using these instructions using cmd before using updated exe to install TWRP;
1.
Code:
adb shell
2.
Code:
su
3.
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock11 /system
4.
Code:
rm -R /system/bootmenu
Then use the updated exe to install TWRP.
NOTE: If you don't like TWRP, you can download Guitwo2's Permanent CWM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1875373&d=1365682716
Temporary CWM Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1875299&d=1365680458
2nd-init does NOT work in CWM Recovery
Thanks to @Guitwo2 for CWM Recovery.
Instructions on how to install Permanent CWM Recovery:
1. Make sure stericson-busybox is installed
2. Put XT320_bootmenuV2.zip in the root of your sdcard
3. Reboot into fastboot mode by typing this command in cmd:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
4. Then type this command in cmd:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
5. Then use volume keys to navigate and power button to select option. Select install zip from sdcard, then select XT320_bootmenuV2.zip and select yes to install the zip file
6. Then reboot device by selecting reboot device now.
CWM 6 has a bug where it asks you to 'disable recovery flash' when you select reboot system now make sure you select NO or you will soft brick your device.
Changelog:
-v2 No need to mount /sdcard in CWM Recovery. Fixed TWRP installation issues.
-v2.0.1 Released an .exe version of script, to simplify installation
-v2.0.1.1 Fixed bootmenu.zip
This can install a custom recovery?
This can install a custom recovery?
Thank you
The root process worked for me. Now i can install link2sd and set up a swap partition.
I cant install TWRP and i think the reason is that the bat was having some problem to send that bootmenu.tar file to my sd card. I tried to send that file myself before starting the entire process and it didnt worked.
I took a picture of the error i'm getting . Thank you again, i was really mad about that low internal space xD
same problem... someone can fix it? please

Ok, I've made a fixed script here. The error was that the sdcard is a directory so it will refuse to push files into it.
Here's the updated script below. Just put the .bat file in the same place as the other files.
Thanks

Ty for the quickly answer.
Btw, my gsm network wasnt working after the root process. If the same thing happens to someone else, just do a master reset and it will work again.
pull command is working now
That sdcard copy part is working now. The TWRP process is still not working for me. I tried to do myself the commands using the adb interface and when i use the command to intall the tar, i got the message 'tar: no space left on device" . I hope you can help me with that and i'm sorry about all this questions xD .

You must have more than 5MB free in your /system partition. Please move your apps to the /flex partition or delete the useless apps in /system.

Yes but it sometimes gets unstable so you should overclock to 700MHz which is the highest I got without reboots. pll2_l_val=73 gives you 700MHz.

It worked for others but in your situation the only thing I can advise is to do a data wipe and relfash SBF file. Just go to Guitwo2's there to install permanent CWM.
