Desire 2.2 FroYo update problems

How do I update to 2.2 when I do OTA about half away through the green bar stops and goes red then the phone reboots phone was on Orange but is unlocked and rooted with super user perms can some please post how to update to 2.2 with guide and links

If I used OTA update without root,how to fix it?
my HBOOT now is 0.92,is impossible to root it?anyway to change it to 0.8?

Radio ROM update guide needed
I have downloaded an updated radio rom ready to install 2.2 but I cant install it the phone stops when pluged into PC any clues

Nope, you're stuffed until someone works out how to break in to the new HBoot, which may be soon, or may be never.
You should have read the forums first.

OK I have updated Radio ROM and Installed 2.2 all working great I love it. Use the guide/download links posted on the second thread thanks for that
To recap I had HTC Desire locked to Orange now unlocked and fully working with 2.2 update NOTE the first time I installed the 2.2 update the phone crashed at boot up had to reinstall it so be warned

hi guys please help me i am pulling my hair out, I have a htc desire from germany via a parrelell importer, i recently tried updating to froyo ota my phone is unbranded and not rooted, how ever now when i start it i get a message saying system failure force close/wait, i have made a gold card, and placed roms on etc but it doesnt seem to reconize them on sd card and says signature failure, also before that while in reocvery it comes up with e:cant open /cache/recovery/command,
im at a dead end please some one help me i will love u long time!

I think you Desire is unbranded, can you use sim cards from different carriers?
If yes no goldcard is needed

[Q] HTC Desire HBOOT?

Hi there,
I want to put the following RRU back onto my HTC Desire (back to it's original state from T-Mobile)
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122755
However i am currently on HBOOT 0.80
Do i need HBOOT 0.75 for this RRU? & if so how do i downgrade?

So i need the RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122755 but i can't run this on HBOOT 0.80
I want to go back to how my phone was originally so i can then recieve the T Mobile Andriod 2.2 update.

I think there is a guide in the dev section. If not a quick Google will work.

Why do you want to go back? There's no benefit in doing so and T-Mobile don't need it back to 'how you got it' if you're returning it to them. So long as its on their FW they'd be fine

I want to go back so i can recieve the T Mobile Andriod 2.2 over the air update

you won't get it from being on 1.15...their sequential, you need 1.15 to 1.21 and 1.21 to get 2.2...I think it's been pulled at the moment though due to it having German apps

I thought it might be why i'm not recieving the 2.2 update. I have just rang T-Mobile and they said they will push it out to me. They release it according to when your phone was manufactured and said it could take up to a week from today, so will see what happens.

I was then able to save apps to the SD card but i lost my Wi-Fi just kept saying Wi-Fi error.
So i downgraded and went back to...

But have yet to recieve the T Mobile 2.2 update, which will now hopefully be this week sometime so hopefully i can save to sd card again and still have wi-fi working

Yea eddyos is right they might have pulled it. Try taking your simcard out and changing the date and going to settings about phone then check for software updates and see if that works. If not I'm sure there will be a manual ota update somewhere.

There's every chance the update is on the HTC server, someone could run that linux script that checks the server for updates (possibly - I don't know where it is on here)

i wanted to restore my desire with RUU, so i made a goldcard and used the 2.29.405.2WWE RUU .. i didnt want to take the risk, so i did a gold card.. but i want to know..

Yes you're unbranded and don't need a gold card, x.xx.405.x is the generic WWE SIM-free model

so why cant I update system to 405.5 :-(
it gives me an error.. it starts the update.. but stops sometime

So you used a gold card to flash 2.29.405.2? If so, you can't get the OTA update.
Seems Google changed something to stop debranded phones getting the update, nothing you can do

You can get the OTA updates, just use the Goldcard. That what I did and it worked for me. Or you can just flash a 2.29.405.5 rom. You can use the RUU if you want but you will need to root again. And yes, Google have changed the code because they're a pain

OTA won't work with a gold card to go to 2.29.405.5 - Google changed something to make them all fail with 'Code 7'
Can only use the RUU but no one if the same will be true of the next OTA

[Q] Still haven't recieved OTA gingerbread update

My desire HD has been restored from a custom ROM using the RUU, but it's been rooted, with ENG-OFF etc. but still on the stock HTC rom. However I still haven't received the OTA Gingerbread update, despite friends on the same network and with the same phone having received it. Does restoring it using an RUU or having it rooted affect in any way receiving the update?
I know I can update via the new RUU, but I'm just interested to know why I haven't received it. Any help is really appreciated

can you leave here what´s your currently rom exactly? version,,, kernel,,,, etc etc...
in theory it´s going to receive gingerbread update all the people that has 2.2.1 froyo.... if i´m not mistaken its 1.8xxxx
but ei!.. you can update your device from HTC SYNC without problems if you are sure that you have a WEE OFFICIAL RUU... SYNC APP is going to identify your device like a unbreanded phone and is going to give to you an update

As an example: I had an HTC Hero - rooted, stock WWE(pretty much). The phone would recognise that an OTA update was available but wouldn't install properly because of the custom recovery I had installed. The update notification took a few extra days to appear on my phone comparative to other peoples phones....(not that it mattered really, to install it I had to flash a new ROM anyways.)
........in other words, patience is a virtue. You'll get the update very shortly.

well can be possible that he don´t received the update because his carrier don´t launched it...
but I THINK that (reading his verion of RUU etc...) he is not going to receive OS 2.3 because he is in the android 2.2 (1.32 older)
for receive the update (for do a correct and estable update) he should to udate to 1.8xxx OS 2.2.1...
i repeat...only i think that he should do it...
if he rejected the 2.2.1 update... maybe its not going to arrive him the 2.3.3 update...
it can carry problems...
but i repeat... for ensure of it you can try htc sync and verify if it´s available an update for your device...

I got a Desire HD from Vodafone australia, currently voda is rolling out the Gingerbread update.
When I first got my phone I rooted s-off'd and all that and loaded cyanogenmod.
All in all it started having issues so I installed an RUU of the 1.72.405.3 generic. Originally it had 1.32 voda branded rom on it. Now everytime I go to check for updates there doesn't seem to be any.
All my friends desire hds have got the update but mine. So I am wondering if anyone else with the 1.72 from has received the update and or if I will get it due to not using the original rom.

try installing the original voda RUU. then update

Why don't you update to 2.3 with an ruu file, the file has been out there for a while. (not on the PC or I would provide you a link)

If your phone is running a stock 1.72 rom then i'd say yes you'll get the OTA update, but since you've got S-OFF i'm not 100% sure.
I'd suggest you just use the Gingerbread RUU in the development section

I'm having the same problem. Vodafone Australia phone. But used gold card to put unbranded 1.32.405.6 on. I haven't been able to get the OTA update to apply, just says I'm already up to date.
Edit: I tried booting up the phone with the SD card I used as my gold card. Didn't work either.
