Hi all-
When I wipe my Dalvik cache, I get a message saying:
Can't mount mmcblk1p2
Followed by a message saying my cache was wiped.
Is this a problem?
Thanks.

This should be in Q&A, I receive the same error. Doesn't seem to carry any adverse effects but I am curious.

After clicking advanced and the clear davlik cache option a message shows up that something could not be (either) found or mounted.
But I am still able to scroll down and clear the davlik cache and have it say "Davlik Cache Wiped"
Basically my question is do you have to mount a certain part of the phone so that clockwork can fully gain access and wipe the davlik?

The message you're seeing is a complaint that it can't mount sd-ext. If you have no sd-ext, then you have nothing to worry about.
Cool thanks man.
I'm not new to this but seems if I have a problem wiping dalvik cache with Clockworkmod recovery.
Every time I try and select that option (recovery->advanced->wipe dalvik->then takes me to the screen asking if I want to do it and it gives me an error. Its a mounting error
E:Can't mount/dev/block/mmcblk1p2
(Invalid argument)
or
E:Can't mount/dev/block/mmcblk1p2
(File exists)
when I press yes it takes me to main menu instantly. Usually (on my nexus) it would take a little while to wipe.
How do you guys wipe it, and do you get that error? If not, how do I fix it?
I have tried reinstalling recovery, fixing permissions, still gives me error.
Edit: included error, formatting and spelling
Edit 2: ive done more research, and it appears to be "a benign error, more or less referring to an SD-ext partition on your SD card for apps2sd. You don't have it formatted for it, so the recovery cannot find it and thus gives you that error. It should not effect the install, and should still clear dalvik."

is this the case? is it still wiping my dalvik cache?
EDIT 3: SOLUTION ,some more digging around:

I just have the Rom Manager app take me into recovery. In recovery i scroll down to advance and wipe the dalvik cacah with no problem.
I also get this same error. I don't know why. I think it not completely wiping dalvik was the cause for my faulty restore from nandroid a few days ago. Anybody know a fix for this?
Thanks for the solution! Will try it and report back.

so ya, its not really a problem, it still wipes dalvik cache. That was all i was looking for. im not going to bother creating another partition on my sd card. But, you are welcome.
Anyone ever seen this error and how do I get rid of it? Occurs when I wipe cache in clockwork recovery.
"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2"
I tried to manually flash ROMs by booting into recovery. But in order to do that I need to do a full wipe. But I am not sure for this particular "Wipe Dalvik Cache" option. I select it and it says E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 (Invalid arguments)
But after I press Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache is says Dalvik Cache wiped. Have I actually wipe that dalvik cache? =/
That's an error normally caused if you wiped data and cache then went onto wipe the Dalvik-Cache manually in the advanced menu.
What you are doing is trying to wipe it twice and it gets confused so throws up this error.
As a general rule you shouldn't need to use this advanced method if you have already wiped data and cache.
Not the best answer but I believe to be accurate.
Just use full wipe 1.3, saves loads of hassle for wiping between ROMs.
Depends on how often you update and change ROMs as has been discussed many times. This question was just asking about dalvik cache.

Hey all, as I was trying to factory reset under TWRP, it would not let me and showed,
E: Unable to mount `/sd-ext'
How would I fix this?

Our device does not have an sd-ext partition. Use the latest TWRP 2.6 and erase system, data, cache, and dalvik cache.

Ohh, I have been using TWRP 2.3
Thanks! I'll try flashing TWRP 2.6
After trying to wipe it in TWRP it says unable to wipe sd/ext
Sd_ext is just a partition on you sdcard that does not exist unless you have created one.
It's just stating could not format sd_ext because it's not there
Do not fret my friend, it still factory resets like it's supposed to
