Many of the new features in the google's voice search require updated/specific google apps. I know the voice command to "set alarm" requires the googledeskclock found in the leaked G2 rom WHEREAS the "note to self" command only works with Gmail 2.2 and not 2.2.1.
I mostly use CM6 and would love to create a frankenGAPPS for myself.
Where do you guys think is the best place to look for the freshest Google Apps?
Is it better to scavenge in:
Leaked system dumps of phones not released (G2)
System dumps for brand new phones. (Fascinate -if it wasn't Binged out-)
Leaked system dumps for the Nexus1 (FRG33)
I thought the files in the FRG33 would be the most recent but they were all a lot smaller then what I found in the G2 dump. I know bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, but from my experience it usually is newer.
I monitor the 911HTC rss for new roms but this is only one manufacturer. Do you guys know of any other sites that post leaked/official roms?
Here's a leaked System Dump from the HTC Ace (Desire HD). What can we use?

FRG33 is an AOSP ROM. Sense is a lot larger though.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
People throw the term aosp around a lot.
FRG33 is a test build. It is NOT aosp.
911HTC just posted an RUU for the Lexikon.
Is there a way to extract the update.zip without the actual phone?
Yeah, because it doesn't check for the phone connection until after expanding everything into the user's temp folder.
I just can't figure out how to get the file downloaded on that site. I click the link and it takes me to u.115.com, and the site is in... Chinese according to Google.
... wait, I think it wants me to use IE...
let me bring up a VM and see...
Edit: Yeah, I think that's it... But it wants me to install some custom software to do the download? Yes.
Bloody hell, I can't read this at all, but it seems to be coming down... slowly.
Edit #2: Well, that took a while, but it worked.

Can you please post the .img or update.zip?
Sure. It's uploading now. I'll edit this post with a link when it's done.
The .exe is available at shipped-roms.com (Linky) now too. Same SHA1 as the link you'd posted earlier.

Would it be as simple as downloading the APKs and uploading them for you?
Im not sure, its worth a try. In particular the only apps i want to get are skype mobile and backup assistant. But anything is fine, i am curious to see if it will just install or if some modding is needed.
Wait, you flashed a N1 ROM to your DInc? I didn't think that was possible! Is it a Froyo Rom? How is the performance?
Yea! LOL. I'm running yetirom 2.1. You can find it here on the forums and I must say I love it. It is the stock rom of the nexus one and its 2.1. The performance is a bit better but I do not think it is optimized as the unrevolved rom was a bit faster. That's why I am trying to get the vzw apps. On the n1 the Verizon section of the market is a downloads button.
You'll need to change some stuff in the build.prop in order to get the VZW market working.
Thanks for the reply... Care to elaborate on the build.prop file? where is it located and how would i go about editing it?
... But I no longer have the Market, or any of my contacts... in fact, it seems that everything is gone.
Can someone tell me how this is properly done? :/
And by the way, if anyone has any decent Gingerbread ROMs, I'd love that
I had the same issues so I went back to virtuas 0.8.1 wich is sweet. I think I'm going to wait intill cynamod 7.0 comes out, speaking of that does anyone know what the progress is on that? How far away can we expect? I'm super pumped

You need to download the gapps zip aswell. The zip will contain the Google apps your looking for. I know for a fact cyanogen links them on the first post of all this treads along with making them available on rom manager. Just go to the first post click his link to the rom and you'll find it on his CyanogenMod forum. They could be right under the download link to the rom.
First post, download the Google adding and install like you could any other zip.

just check out the cm7 in the g2 development section and youll see how far they have gone, and when itll be released.
You didn't also flash the Google Apps. You need to do both. CM doesn't include the Google Apps per a copyright dispute with Google. The other ROMs include them just because CM was the first big ROM and Google asked them to stop.
Google Apps can be downloaded separately from the CM site, ROM Manager, or XDA.
For those of you that want to get in on early GB development but don't have the skill to compile it from source, I compiled the new source code that dropped for the gingerbread build for the Sprint Tab. This is NOT an installable rom. This is a zip containing the compiled AOSP kernel and system, purely for research/development purposes. Download, unzip and play. I doubt this will boot on a CDMA device without the proper bootloaders, but you're welcome to try. You can even develop AOSP roms from it that will probably run on your tab after the update on the 5th. Enjoy.

Hope someone comes up with a great rom be it asop or other. Im truly looking for great things to come out of this.

im expecting alot from these files!!!
a working 2.3 rom means the following for cdma tabs:
1.working skype video calls!
2.Working hulu!
3. Last but not least, Working Netflix!
it would make the tablet experience so much better for us CDMA owners.
i want to be the first to make a bug list on the first dev to release a rom
it would be a honor
and glad to see you finally posting something space. you have been in hiding so long, you rival osama lol

I guess I should add: you'll need the driver libs to get this running... you'll have to gank what you can from the gsm GB build. Stuff in /system/lib/hw and /system/lib/egl and so on. Just compare and you will get the idea.

Thanks! This is useful. I am merging the CDMA kernel sources with GSM right now and the PowerVR module is updated so it looks like I will have to switch to newer OpenGL driver from this archive.

I hope it's useful. Sadly, the proprietary files weren't included in the source, so of course you'll have to patchwork from other builds or wait until the official release for some of those.
You're welcome though, glad to be of service.

Open adb shell and run this:
tar -czvf /mnt/sdcard/system_dump.tar.gz /system/
it will create file system_dump.tar.gz in on your sdcard with the contents of your factoryfs (system) partition.
alright! So when my update comes i will do just that and put it on my dropbox, providing you a download link!

Would the .zip update file help? I've got that posted on mediafire (as i just a little bit ago got the notice for an update. If it'll help, here's the link.

Otherwise i'll get the update installed and see about running the sys dump as well.

has anyone tested this? i don't wanna brick my tab!
I've got it up and running on my tab and there's at least 1 other person from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148447 that has it up and running as well.. Odin'd back to stock EA24, did the OTA EB28, and then ran the update.zip from stock recovery. All is happy on my tab. Now I just have to wait till i'm at work tomorrow to get ADB to work, and I'll dump /system.
Hi all!
New, added feature and Re-Zipped. Included opera and No-Frills CPU Control in default! I have discovered this and decided to see how it may work for a Rhodium. It seems to work fine on my GSM Rhodium. I have no access to a CDMA one, so if there is a brave soul to try out or modify it to work. It is a 2.3 MIUI ROM. Ported to a Rhodium.
Here is what I have
Works:
Pretty much everything you may need
Bugs:
Not too sure about GPS
We all know the wake issue. Sometimes you may need to press the power button more than once
Um... The speed is not too good. The RHOD's CPU is just not the fastest
Battery life needs improvements
Install Instructions:
Have NAND CWM and LK Working. Donwload one of the NAND Testing builds in this forum. Flash this throungh CWM.
OverClocking:
Okay. Here is how you do it. The ROM is rooted and the Kernel has overclocking enabled. Do NOT use SetCPU, since it will simply crash (no idea why) I reccomend using 'No-Frills CPU' which IS NOW STOCK!
Download link:
Here is the CWM Flashable ROM. As I said before, the gapps have seemed to have dissappeared , so just use any gapps from the forum.
Link:http://www.mediafire.com/?n8zhz0j8rgij44q
Cheers!!
Hrm. Is there a point to MIUI if I don't understand Chinese? AFAIK that ROM is an iPhone clone that is made for Chinese people, by Chinese people...
More ROM's are good tho. I still wish we had a solid CM build, but perhaps our tired old devices will never be able to properly handle it.
miui is not only iphone clone, its now more like an alternative to cyanogenmod.
=)
Very true now in definitely gonna have to get me a new tp2

and please try mediafire, multiupload or some host like that!
Opening up CWM is done by holding the power button. You flash this as a zip. About the size, I am not sure about that. I have changed the build.prop completely and some other files. Edited the updating script and added apks. Have I possibly uploaded the wrong one? Let me check.
Why? Works fine for me. Just reuploading it to rapidshare.

Does it work fine? That's good to hear. About the Gapps, try installing different ones. This is a gapps problem. I will try to find the ones I used.
That's what I said:
Tak to funguje? To mám radost. Můj Rhodium je tak nějak pod hromadou prachu :0. Ten problém s GAPPSy, je jednoduše tím že tam v nich ta část chybí. Exchange account type doesn't part of gapps, isn't it?
Exchange typ uctu preci neni soucasti Gapps, ne?
The option is a part of GoogleExchangeServices.apk, or something like that. In my Samsung Galaxy Tab, it is a part of the Gapps. Maybe it is different here, since I am on Ice Cream Sandwich there. Ill have a look.
Last update has wrong directory structure of installation .zip file.
There is: miui_rhodium_gsm_0.3.1.zip -> miui_rhodium_gsm_0.3.1 -> standard structure and can't be installed.
Directory miui_rhodium_gsm_0.3.1 in .zip must go to hell ...

Thanks for the reply.
I didn't do anything special on build.prop before to .012 rom.
I just flashed to Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00_WW_GEN1 but the problem (missing apps) still exists.
One example of missing apps is ireader (full version). I can only see ireader (offline). From the other tablet (Nook Color CM9), I can see both versions of ireader.
I also tried to edit build.prop as suggested in this forum to mimic my A100 as A500 in Play Store (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525964), still no luck.
Can anyone help me out? There are many apps I use heavily but cannot load onto A100.
Thanks

Pretty much correct, dev is for releases of some sort, not questions. Buuuuut since its already here may as well pitch in lol.
Modded build.prop is most common way around it, but you can also side load apps from other sources and install from SD or adb.
