Hi,
This is really annoying! Anybody else or just me? Pls read below:
Where's our newest/latest photos & videos that we just capture? We even see them on the phone but when switching to PC to view them, they're not there? Everytime, we have to reboot our phone to see those new in PC. Why?
I've found this issue with some ROM: CyanogenMod, Defrost, OpenDesire...
I think this is also a known issue that I cannot find correct answer or patch. It related to media scanner or storage...
Sense ROM does not have this issue.
Hope to get it fixed soonest.
Too bad
I'm going to use the example of OpenDesire, but I'm sure its almost the same for the rest of non sense ROMs.
When you plug the phone to the PC via USB you need to enable USB transfer by sliding the notification bar and selecting USB (there you can enable/disable USB transfer). When USB is enabled you will see your phone's SD card in your computer, it should recognize it without problems. If you open it with a file explorer, theres a folder that should be named DCIM and inside should be another folder with all the photos you've taken.
If you want to syncronize photos and stuff using HTC Sync you need a Sense UI ROM to work. Non-Sense UI ROMs are only able to connect as an USB portable device (like a pendrive).

Happens when I try to download files to my Defy's SDcard, such as update.zips for various roms. Via MotoPortal's stock remote file manager.
What bugs me is that I cannon see any system in it, like, one moment a big file DLs just fine, another moment its "too big", then at some point it goes fine again, and again too big... All on pretty much the same Nordic .177 ROM.
Any idea what's happening and how to fix that?
100% not SDcard problem itself: just removed it from a phone, put into card reader and wrote on all the files I wanted.
They then were read on Defy without problems.
The moto portal is very fishy in my case. Everytime I saw a few different folders, and sometimes I saw none at all. I no longer use it now. For transfer of big files I set usb connection to mass storage. For small files I just transfer via wifi.
Speaking of "usb mass storage" mode, I only found the setting to do so deep in the MediaShare app. Is it also acessible somewhere else?

When connected with usb, tap the notification bar, tap usb connection, tap mass storage. Some switch widgets can switch on/off usb mass storage with a single tap.
Strange issue that I only noticed after upgrading to JB....
My Gallery is only showing new pictures. I see that the new pictures are in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera alongside loads of other pictures which don't show up.
I tried media re-scans but the others dont show up.
I have just connected via USB to my Windows 7 machine and noticed that the only files I see on it are the new files too. My assumption was that it would give me full access to the Internal storage however there are loads of files and folders which don't show up.
HELP!
Which rom you used to upgrade? I had the same problem, but only able to fix the exchange of rom.
I used the Rom Manager - ClockworkMod Jelly Bean. I think its Koush's
Not sure if there's a thread for that ROM?
Anyone else seeing the same issue?

After a couple of hours trying to find someone with the same problems as me I came up with nothing, so I decided to make a thread.
Firstly, I am no where near versed in device hacking so I am hoping these problems are just due to my ignorance.
My coworker rooted and loaded cm10 and teamwinrecovery onto my sprint GS3 and since then I have had a few issues. The most frustrating problem I am currently experiencing is the phone will not write anything to the external sd. There is no indication as to why this is the case. Under the storage option in settings it shows that it can read the external SD card yet programs seem to not be able to see that it is there. For example my camera will not give me the option to save photos to the external SD and programs like app 2 sd wont give me the option to transfer any of the apps to the SD card even ones that i know are supposed to work like Winamp. Also ive tried using DirectoryBind to change the directory of apps and music but I'm just prompted to create a new file because the data directory doesn't exist and asks if i want to create one. I tap yes and i am just prompted with the same error again and again.
My second main issue is when I dock my phone to my windows 7 PC I get an enigmatic problem. Either i get an error that says the USB malfunctioned and cannot be recognized and the SGS3 won't show up in mycomputer. Or, the default drivers install fine and the device will show up in windows. However, if i try syncing winamp or even dragging files over to my phone it will copy for anywhere from 1 second to 5 minutes and then windows will freeze and if i close the process it will crash windows and/or winamp. I tried installing the samsung usb drivers but then i just get a device ID error and it wont show up.
I was able to find some people with similar issues but not the constantly changing one i have. All the fixes that have been suggested have not worked.
I realize this is more likely an issue with my computer than my phone but when i was running stock it would work fine.
If anyone can provide some insight into these problems or can direct me to someone with a similar issue it would be much appreciated.
I really like CM10 but these issues are deal breakers for me and I dont really want to go through risking bricking my phone in order to try and get back to stock but i will if it will fix these problems.
First time post here. my ATT Gal I747 used to sync with WMP 11 nicely but since I rooted my S3, it no longer sync music into my phone. It connects normally showing memory info and connected device in WMP but as soon as I click start sync, it only reaches 21% and is stuck there. Ive tried to copy and paste frm PC to my external storage and says "cannot copy canceling" Im certain its not my PC, I have all the latest samsung drivers installed. Ive tried numerous syncing apps/desktop apps and not one will sync. My question is it a media files usage rights thing, or is it a reformatting the external sd to allow permissions, or is it a usb composite driver missing from my phone that was in stock rom? (btw my stock rom backup took a crap and I dont have it saved.) Ive turned on usb debugger, used different usb ports on PC, other things Im not familiar with in develop options folder, so i will not mess with it. Im currently running slimrom 4.2.2 build 5 with gapps and nova which works great no issues, except for not syncing to PC. Thought about reinstalling WMP but its not a stand alone in win7. Sorry If I typed a whole chapter, just wanted to get all troubleshooting info. I researched online for a solution but couldnt find any. ive looked at reformatting apps for sd cards on line but most of them are for videocams or camera sds on top of not knowing how to format a sd card. TYVM for any suggestions or tips I havent thought of. Much appreciated.
Hi mates,
I have big issues with data transfer with my device. I wanted to do a backup of my files (Whatsapp and several folders). My System is Windows 10. When I connect my phone to my PC and choose "Data Transfer" on it I see my Pixel at the Explorer on my PC. Now when I try to drag and drop a folder to my PC it calculates the duration but nothing happens and then my Explorer crashes. Does anyone have the Same Issue? Sadly I cant remove the SD Card because there isn't one. How do you drag and drop big folders? Dragging single files works, but i cant drag 5000+ files at their own.

Hello,
Maybe a Windows driver problem?
Did it happen suddenly or it has always been this way?
Did you try on another computer?
Another USB cord?
Tried another phone to see if it transfers fine to the same computer?
Good luck...
Thanks for your advices.

Hello, not at all...
File transfert is super fast. From Windows 10 to Pixel and from Pixel to Windows 10.
Can you try to uninstall the Pixel driver from device manager, also uninstall the device completely when plugged in... Then unplug and plug it back. Select transfert on the Pixel and let it update the driver.
Also, are you completely stock or is your bootloader unlocked? If unlocked, try booting TWRP.img and try transferring from here.
Good luck...
Same here. i actually made a thread about it a while back, cant find it though.
Speeds literally crawl to 256kbps some times!
Happens on my gaming machine, and my linux pc, on all ports, with both my cables. with the same setup i can get around 30-40mbps with my nexus 5x and 6.
i notice it happen more often transferring from pc to phone, but it happens consistently both ways. Ive tried with adb debugging, without adb, ptp and mtp, and all my drivers are synced up with google so they are the latest. i ended up setting wireless transfer up.
Super fast for me after 7.1.2
i agree MTP blows but after the update I moved 1.25gb of music in less than a minute using USB 3 connection.
