[Q] JPC does not boot - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Hi,
I installed JPC when it was available in Kies testmode and everything seemed to work fine.
After a few days I turned off my phone and from that point on it would no longer boot. The boot animation play (with sound) but after that it freezes on the S logo and just buzzes every now and then.
Doing a cache wipe does not help. Only a factory reset helps.
After this happened now for the second time (I suspect it might have s.th. to do with updating the Samsung App Manager, but maybe it also only happens after installing a few apps in general) I am starting to get a little annoyed.
Therefore my question, has anyone else experienced this problem and knows how to avoid it (apart from not rebooting ), or can anyone tell me wether it is possible to simply flash an older eclaire version onto the phone with Odin after having installed JPC with Kies (I read somewhere that some internal things are changed permanently by JPC?)
Thanks
Edit:
It seems that installing the 1.4 Update of the Task Manager via the Samsung App Store causes this problem.

I successfully flashed this http://android.modaco.com/content/s...insecure-boot-clockworkmod-recovery-for-odin/ after having issues with xxjpc. Works like a charm
Good luck

I have used JPC for a few days, I flashed my SGS back to JM7 without any problems. But I didn't use kies, I used Odin to flash both Fw. But I suggest you make a backup of your whole /efs file and check your .nv.data.bak and .nv.md5.bak file is dated before the day that JPC was available (before 01-09-2010) in case something goes wrong.

I seem to recall reading in another thread that the task manager is NOT suitable for JPC. Do NOT install it and you should not get that problem. Also, you already have the task manager anyway.

Yes! its is confirm that updating the task manager does did that.
Does anyone know how I can undo it without factory reset? Its really trouble to set it up all again.

that seems a common problem for JPC - it happened a few times while i was using it. only factory reset can fix it sorry

Looking for some help...

Ok all, i think i have hit my limit of what i can think to do to fix my phone so i'm throwing this out looking for some help.
So i have run into a major problem. Starting back on the first i flashed from CyanogenMod Nightly 175 to nightly 181, 181 FC's alot on the google processes framework and such, and it was unusable so i went back to my Nightly 175 restore i had created. It was working fine until today and it became unusable, FC's for everything.
So i first started by trying to get into Safe Mode to do a restore, and RomManager FC'ed before i could get it to do anything
Then i tried to get into the restore area, same thing, FC
Tried to use the notification Tray icon to "update" to 181, same thing FC
All these steps were attempted again after a normal reboot
None worked
I then went to reboot into recovery, and it only would reboot into the Bootloader
Once in the Bootloader i tred to do the Recovery option, but all it does is reboot into the bootlaoder
I do know that i had just updated the RomManager recovery option to 5.0.2.0 or whatever the latest was. I'm wondering if there is a problem with that?
My phone was originally reflashed with unrevoked 3.
i went to dougpiston.com and got the RUU program from there after searching through some forums, but that program when run says it is unable to communicate with my phone when attempting to verify software on my phone
I also tried un-sync'ing all of the google accounts on the phone and a factory reset, but even after the reboot the last account is still there and it appears as if the factory reset did not work
I also have this posted over in CM's forums, but i was hoping maybe someone here could help.
anything is appreciated at this point

You're problem is ClockworkMod. Version 5 is a steaming heap of crap that's caused this sort of problem, not only for dInc users, but Tbolt and other device users. The solution seems to be flashing back to an older recovery. And if it works, don't fix. I'm still running version 3.something on my Tbolt and have no plans to change that. I NEVER use ROM Manager and recommend nobody ever touch it except for a few things. I almost never have it installed on any device.
OK then dumb question but if RomManager FC's on me, how do i flash back to a working version or to an alternate version entirely? i have been unable to find other ways of flashing outside of RomManager
Older Recovery versions are available on "dougpiston.com" just follow the directions.
www.dougpiston.com has what you're looking for under "recoveries". They're flashed in hboot like a radio, RUU, splash screen, etc.
Also if that doesn't work, which it probably will, you can also flash a PB31IMG which essentially is the RUU but you do not need a PC. You put that on the root of the SD (as in, not in any folders. Probably know that already...) and reboot into HBOOT (Power and volume down) and itll load it up.
Note: Make sure the file is PB31IMG.zip and not PB31IMG.zip.zip
Ha!!! got it back (well on the road to back anyways)
Was able to find a PB31IMG on dougpiston.com and hboot flashed it in (3.0.0.8). I had one on my PC but it must have been corrupt because it didn't work before. once that was working i was able to get into recovery get a restore back to my 175 nightly and am in the process now of flashing nightly 181 on there cleanly and rebuild the whole phone from scratch. damn i hope this works thanks all for help and ideas.
Nice, I actually had the same problem when I updated cwm but it was way back when they first updated to the 2.x.x recoveries. I was freakin for a bit lol....glad you got it working. Does anyone know why whenever I flash a different version of cwm I have to flash it twice?

[Q] Note 3 boot loop after root

So I looked into all the stuff for rooting my T-mobile Note 3, checked to make sure that the multi touch bug wasn't there (I think I did it right), red up on the process and watched the video for the CF auto root 3 times before I did it. The root went without a hitch, I was able to install a few root programs (titanium, pimp my rom, Greenify, FullScreen, DriveDroid, Good Mood Droid Gesture Control, Stick Mount, AFWall+, Samba File Sharing, and some others I can't recall off the top of my head).
I was able to make a back up with Titanium, I went into AFWall+ and tweaked all my apps (only white apps in the list) and there was another "security" app I used, but it's name eludes me at this time (it was fairly similar to AFWall+. After that the phone just goes through a incessant boot loop. Starts up (which takes a little bit longer then normal), works for about 60 seconds normally, locks up and restarts. I tried pulling the battery and shutting it down, but it continues to do it.
I'm just wondering what could have caused this, how to fix it and what to do to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Thanks

If I were you I would start over again and Odin flash the stock official N900T 4.3 stock rom from
SamMobile.com or any other place which has it available for downloading.
After doing that, use the cf-auto root to root the phone and odin flash twrp or cwm recovery.
Once that's done make a Nandroid backup in recovery so next time when you have these bootloops,
lockups and other issues you can simply restore your rooted Nandroid backup.
All those apps you mentioned with the exception of titanium backup which you used to "TWEAK" your
phone are causing the issues you are having, there is no good reason to even use all those tweaking
apps and most likely are totally un-necessary in the first place.
If your phone works properly after odin flashing official stock firmware and rooting it then the fault
is not in the phone, or the official rom but the fault is in one of those tweaking tools you like to use
either because it's faulty, or you don't know how to use it.
If you can get into advanced settings of your WiFi connection in the 60 seconds before freezing, uncheck "always allow scanning". This had been known to cause boot loops for some people.
If it still loops, try uninstalling all those apps one by one to see which so is causing the issue.
And if that doesn't fix it, I would do as suggested above with the restore.
Sent from any phone that isn't made by Apple.
Maybe you could try something simple first: safe boot. In safe boot the culprit app should not start and if the damage is not in system files, that should give you chance to delete programs one by one and possibly find a culprit, otherwise, if you restore the ROM, you'll never know which one caused the problem. I would assume you wiped cache and if all failed, maybe factory reset?

What the What?!

Moderators, please forgive me in not in the right place...
Came home from a glorious week of camping and decided to check out some 4.4.4 ROM's on my phone...
Already running older version of C-ROM, so backed up and flashed the KK 4.4.4 version. That's where it the wheels came off my bus..
Phone booted so damn slow, then there were hundred's of FC's, rendering the phone unuseable. Rebooted, cleared Dalvik and Cache but same difference. The phone died, the battery would NOT charge! No matter what! Try as I may...NO GO!!! For hours! Feared it was that issue wherein the S3 motherboard dies and the phone has to be replaced by Samsung. Kept trying...finally get the phone to boot into TWRP. Whew!!! Still the phone kept complaining that the battery was dead. WTF?!
Restored the back up I had made...accidentally grabbed another backup from december of last year (Cyanogenmod), so had to recover my C-ROM back instead...RESTORE FAILS! Tried a few times but still failed. Tried to re-flash the latest C-ROM, but STILL fails...everything I'm trying fails.
I read the output and see an error, "Unable to wipe /system" ...found a thread where a user, using TWRP, had the same error with their ROM they were trying to flash. Eventually, the fix was to delete the make_4fs (or whatever it's called) from /sbin directory. Did so and was able to flash my Cyanogen, but could not restore my C-ROM backup. That STILL fails, however, no error in the live output while it's restoring. Just ends up Failing at the end of the restore process. The live logs indicate that it's using the 2fs (or whatever it's called), which was successful in flashing my Cyanogen ROM...why will it not restore my C-ROM back? :crying:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using ODIN to restore back to stock? If you can get the phone up and running, you may be able to restore from your old backups.

Thanks bud.
Oh, I got the phone up and running on the Cyanogen dated dec/2013.
ODIN? Never thought of it. Been such a long time. I do need to get stock on here so I can all the latest official radios etc, then put custom ROMs.
Been such a loooooong time since used ODIN though. Shouldn't be hard to get back on the horse.
Thanks for the suggestion!!!
any idea why this happened? anyone?
as an fyi, I tried to put the lastest SlimROM on but same difference. (i'm really pressed for time always. so I decided this is the quickest thing to try). seems the only thing that will flash is my Cyanogen from December. Strange...
Will have to give ODIN a try if I can ever get the time some day..
Odin shouldn't be a much longer process. Start flash, walk away. When you return 10 minutes to a few hours later, it'll be sitting there waiting for you, all nice and stock!
Anyway, one thing I dont recall seeing you tried is a factory reset. Chances are, that's what caused all your FC. Roms will always take a while on first boot. But all those FC were likely due to incompatible data. Then you may have encountered more data corruption as the system worked overtime trying to resolve all those conflicts.
Its purely a theory, but there's a good chance you will never be able to find exactly what caused all of your issues. Dont lose sleep over it is my best advice! A couple of tips though....
Never wipe/format system! Had you been able to successfully do so, and then nothing would still flash, there would no longer be an o/s to boot into! All roms will format your system partition as the first step in the flash, so there's just no need to do this manually. Most flash failures occur before the flash actually starts, meaning if there's a problem, most times you'll still be able to reboot normally.
Update your firmware. If its been a while since taking an ota or updating via Odin, you're probably on an older firmware build which is known to cause problems with many more recent roms. Most simply will not flash if not updated.
Also, by flashing your up to date firmware in Odin, you will likely fix any corruption which may have occurred on some of those partitions. Good chance you'll be able to flash whatever you want after an Odin firmware update and factory reset.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

What's up, Doc? Sorry for that...
I downloaded Odin this morning. I should have gotten the link from XDA. The site i got it from looked official, however, tons of endless pop-ups after I installed it. Freak!!!
Then found the xda links. Not sure which version to get because i didn't see which one handles the S3. The latest version (3.09) should, no?
As well, where do i get the stock ROM from? Forgive me for all these questions. Been extremely busy with work these past few months. No time to play around with my phone everything. I'm forgetting more than I know.
A full wipe was done. In TWRP, system was check (it's always checked) automatically when wiping to flash a new ROM.
Thanks again!
Everything you need is in my sig. Go to the firmware thread and the stock or root66 firmware listed there us what you flash in odin. Version 3.09 is fine btw.

Downloaded the rooted firmware from your link and the ODIN (3.09)...
Flashed the firmware (making sure to get the correct one for WIND)...ODIN did it's thing...got a green pass...the phone rebooted...got the Samsung symbol, little swoosh animation, and the accompanying sound effect that goes with the swoosh-thing...THE PHONE NEVER BOOTED UP AN O/S!
Did it at about 11:30 last night, left it, got up this morn, and phone STILL in same status!
Found out that site where I downloaded the firmware had an issue last night. They posted this morn, apologizing to people about a D.O.D attack that may have caused dropped downloads. I downloaded the firmware again this morn, flashed with ODIN, got a pass....SAME THING!!! Phone
Had to quickly pack up my laptop to bring with me to the office. Will try the official, non-rooted firmware to see if I can get it to go.
Problems' that my team went from 12 to 2 people...my partner's off today...and I got a LOUD MOUTH across from me who WILL NOT leave me alone, no matter what I say or do. LOL.
Any suggestions?
In the words of George Costanza:
"I'm BACK, babyyyyyyy!!!!!"
The official firmware worked!
Phone's back online. Thanks for all your help. Will have to see about rooting later...as well, want to see how the battery operates on stock firmware. I've tried EVERYTHING under the sun to preserve batt life and NOTHING worked!!!
Tried EVERY KERNEL noted to be good on battery life, tried TONS of apps that were supposed to help, turned off as much as I could, etc....
batt still not good. I give up. Every diagnostic app says batt is very good. I dunno...
Earplugs! Lol! I definitely feel for you about your work status! Been there!
About the firmware though, if the download had been corrupted, it would've failed the initial check done by Odin. You are probably ok. Dont worry just yet!
If it is hanging up at the Samsung screen, you probably just need to factory reset. Almost always fixes this. (It happens due to incompatible data left from your previous rom)
This will wipe internal sdcard though, so if you haven't backed up yet, the next thing to fo is flash TWRP via Odin. You can then use its built in file manager to copy whst you need first. Or you can then flash an insecure kernel and use adb if you're familiar with that.
The Doc is in!

That's EXACTLY my thought too. That was really perplexing...
I am up again...
Facotry Reset? How do I do that if stuck at the Samsung splash though?
Now that i know the official firmware works, maybe i'll, try again with the rooted firmware, try to factory reset when stuck, and continue to flash TWRP as you described above. Don't mind factory resetting. I've taken everything I need.
Oh!!!!
I noticed that all the apps I had before flashing the firmware are STILL on my phone. I would have thought that they would have been wiped out completely when lord ODIN was doing her thing.
....and battery life is STILL pretty bad...
Phone's been charging...became fully charged...unplugged it..it was down to 84% after only about 30/mins.
Will see how it goes after doing the factory wipe.
Again, how do i do a factory wipe if stuck at the Samsung swoosh after I re-flash the rooted firmware ?
Maybe your battery is dying. it happens. That would explain a big drop from the start.
To factory reset if you're stuck at boot up, turn the phone off, then boot up into recovery. Hold volume up, home and power. After it vibrates, release power only, continue holding the other two until you see recovery booting up.
If stock recovery is installed, choose factory reset.
In TWRP (probably similar in cwm) go to Wipe and choose factory reset there. In TWRP and CWM, factory resetting does not wipe your internal sdcard. Stock recovery will.
And as for Odin, it doesn't actually touch the user data partition, so all your apps and data are preserved. This is great when just upgrading from one build to the next, but is the reason a factory reset is required if coming from a non touchwiz rom.
---------- Post added at 03:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 PM ----------
How old is your battery? The S3 is at the age where people who bought it when it was first released will start to notice the battery is beginning to degrade.
You can also get an app called Better Battery Stats here on xda (paid version in the play store). Its the goto utility for investigating problems with battery drain. Run it for a day after a full charge and then check its logs for persistent wakelocks. The app thread should explain its use better than I can, but if you are having trouble you can always post your bbs log here for one of us to look over. (This isnt my strongest area, but there are a few others around that may also be able to help. )

Tried to root, now system UI has stopped

I have a T-mobile LG G4 and I'm in the US. I did my research, watched videos, and read several threads about rooting... I thought I had it down. I followed the instructions in This thread exactly, to the best of my knowledge. Unfortunately, after my phone rebooted following step 10 (running the root script), it keeps saying "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped working" over and over.
I'm downloading the kdz files to return my phone to stock (hopefully--since I screwed up somehow, following the root instructions). But has anyone had this happen? Know what's causing it? Or how I can fix it besides a factory reset?
UPDATE: Ok, so I got freaked out reading about how returning to an earlier version of stock could brick your phone, so I decided to bite the bullet and do a hard factory reset. When I did, it asked if I wanted to restore from an earlier backup. I thought, "hey, no way it backed up after I just tried to root it, this backup ought to be safe!" and gave it a whirl. Well, when it finished restoring, root checker says I've successfully rooted! What the hell?! So, um... yay?
I have this exact same problem.
I have a tmobile variant and I had root previous(don't remember method I used). I installed the marshmallow rom, and thought it was too sluggish so I restored my device. But then my phone was wack...so I had to do a complete restore using flash tool. After that my phone worked fine, but I had no root. I attempted to use this new program with adb cmd. It worked but now my phone is sluggish the ui crashes, the camera doesn't work, and back buttons. I restored again... then rooted again.... same thing....so I restored AGAIN. I hope anyone can help.
Buuuuump
Bump Bump Bump... sadly this is the only known root I know of soooo #NoRoot4Meh :/
happen to me too..
just go to setting (use the notification shortcut), search for Home in apps (all apps) and then clear data and cache.
helped me to solved this problem, you will need to re-align your icons and apps on the launcher.

Weird automatic App installation after going back to stock

Hey Guys,
ive got some serious issues with my G3 (D855) after going back to stock.
After a CM13 nightly get bootlooping my device i decided to switch to AICP MM which was really stable at first time. I ve updated AICP with the newest nightly (dirtyflash) and then i get into bootloop again, but this time something really bad happened - i was able too boot into twrp but not able to copy files onto the phone - it seems like the device get frozen after a few seconds of copying - or maybe it get too hot, i dont know what was the reason, but i thought i will going back to stock to prevent issues like this in the future.
I downloaded the needed correct .tot and .dll from here and used this method: Click
Everything worked fine and Android was booting and then after Language selection the first error like "Couldn´t start script... because of the carrier...". After closing the first steps, my phone was installing automatic bloatware (about 100 apps) which i couldn´t stop.
This is a reason why i decided to try something else: I rooted the phone and installed TWRP again, because i have a stock nandroid backup which i wanted to restore.
Everything worked fine again but the same error after the language selection and the same bloatware that will be installed automatic.
Factory reset and still this issues.
Newest stock flashed with official LG Suite - still the same issues.
Newest .kdz flashed with Flashtool - still the same issues.
It seems the code to install this bloatware is stored somewhere but i can´t find out where.
Somebody know where it hides and how to delete it?
I would prefer delete everything from the phone and install everything again clean. (Hopefully without Bloat)
Any ideas?
Really nobody knows how to completely remove everything and then clean flash stock?
Me again - seems to be my very own thread
I´ve tried a few things (full wipe, factory reset, ..) but still these self installing apps, 4-5 freezes on stock per day, bad performance - it seems like a task is running in the background.
then after Language selection the first error like "Couldn´t start script... because of the carrier...".
Click to collapse
As i mentioned above i get an error message after some start ups or after the language selection, but now i´ve found a screenshot from the error message, look here
Some ideas what else i could try to fix that issues?
thanks
