hey fellas just want to clear things out here
is JPC the final release of 2.2 ? if so where's the official release with arabic ?
if not...... the wait continues
No. Not final. Just beta. final 2.2 out end of the month
I realy waiting official...I reading on all our Galaxy xda underforum only buggy JPC and other 2.2 betas...Sure , i was none flashed from this, waiting official
But how will flashing? With Kies or Odin, let will see...
Regards
You will be able to flash with both method, although it is likely that Samfirmware odin flashable files will be avaible a little sooner.
Flashing with odin is the way to go JPC is good especially if rooted. But you might as well wait for official froyo release later this month should be much better I hope

Hi there
I just recently signed a contract with orange for the Desire.
Last Night I got rid of there crappy firmware and installed the stock Bravo firmware.
My question is, if an over the air update is released for froyo 2.2 what will happen? Will my phone download the Orange firmware 2.2, Bravo 2.2?
Or will it not work now and i will have to manually update using a downloaded firmware.
Thanks
Dion.
is it really an issue for you ??

Well yeah of course it is. I dont want to download the update over the air if its going to be Orange firmware. But if it uses HTC Generic Firmware then I will download over the air.
What happened to the help in this forum?
if you flashed a generic non branded rom ill guess you get a generic non branded froyo

Hey, Just wondering nobody mentioned it till now, but I just updated my SGS with Kies to FROYO!!!!
Version is:
I9000XXJPC
Benchmark and GPS-Test later.
MOD EDIT: FYI, this update is no longer available on Kies, the only way to flash it right now is with Odin (which is rather tricky and risky...not recommended for anyone not already familiar with the process!!!)
ALSO...Flashing without unlocking the phone FIRST can make it EXTREMELY difficult (if not impossible) to unlock afterwards!! Be sure to unlock it BEFORE flashing if you're going to need it unlocked in the long run!!
OMG you're serious???
Dammit I gotta try

Hey all,
I'm trying to backup product key + rom and then update to offical 2.2 froyo (prefer offical but not branded one without software of movistar and everything) + hebrew keyboard.
I followed this guide on how to root my SGS I9000
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754
Installed SGS Toolbox, but then i run it and it says:
system remount not supported on this device. error code: 109
Check product key, reboot, and reboot into recovery are red and i cannot click on them.
I tried installing Rom manager, and i got this message:
You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function.
Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su".
Use google search on your computer to find instruction to root your phone.
I must say that iv'e rooted my device with this guide, i have Superuser icon on my device. when i click on it, on apps, its written no apps in list.
My device details are:
CSC: XEC - Spain (Movistar) BRANDED
Kernel version 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Baseband version I9000BGJF1
Build Number ECLAIR.BGJF4
Model number GT-I9000
What do i need to do ? Thanks in advance!
That is what my phone looked to.
Could not find a solution on that firmware.
What i did was upgrading to jm1 with keis.
Then all things worked.

Right now its jm1 on the kies server.
You will get the right firmware.
Do all backup you can.
Then root.
Do the backup more this time.
Now you can do what you want.
If you want to unlock the phone its the time Now.
You can't in froyo.
A funny this is that i want that firmware you use now.
Then moving to froyo is easy.

Jm1 is 2.1 and not froyo.
When 2.2 froyo comes out you don't have the choose to get older firmware from keis.
If you want to unlock the simcard its only working on 2.1 and on original firmware.
When you do upgrading to froyo later that option is gone.
Thats why i want the stock branded firmware back.
I can't find it on samfirmware.

So what users that has movistar branded i900 will do? that doesn't make any sense... If you use offical unlock code.
Anyone else can join this thread?
By the way - i already entered the unlock code at the first time i turned the I9000 on.
Thanks

Well i guess they have a new system/ code for froyo. But froyo is not officials yet so they will not give out that code.
So that's why you need to unlock it on 2.1 on a officials firmware.

Well i have the code from 2.1 but that don't work.
No program that can get the code works object froyo.
If you look in the file that the code should be its not there in froyo.
People say if you have unlocked it in 2.1 it will stay unlocked when you upgrade. But i can't confirm that. I have not done that myself.

Yep the update comes on kies and pretty much everyone has got it now. Other then that u can flash ur device to froyo via odin.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Froyo is rolling out across the networks not al have it yet .
One you wait for your network to supply an official update and then use Samsung Kies to update .
Or you download whatever copy of 2.2 you want use Odin to flash it to your phone .
Negatives with flashing one voids warranty and two very small possibility of bricking your phone . So in your shoes i would wait until your network releases update .

Wrong section. Not Q&A.
Sammobile says Tmo has started the rollout for 4.1.2 on the sgh-t989 via Kies. I can't find anything on Tmo's site but sammobile has the Odin .tar file up. http://www.hotfile.com/dl/202091699/c92decf/T989UVMC6_T989TMBMC6_TMB.zip.html

Now its finally official from T-Mobile.
"Beginning April 8, the Samsung Galaxy S II will have an optional software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software T989UVMC6 via Samsung Kies only. This update changes the OS to Jelly Bean.
You can update in one way:
Manual download to T989UVMC6 If you want to update to T989UVMC6, you can update via Samsung Kies. Ensure you are on the latest version of Kies prior to attempting the update. See http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ to confirm the version.".

Try rebooting the PC.
Make sure Kies isn't running.
Lmao.. All of you guys rushing to flash an unrooted stock ROM just to see something we all have already seem in custom ROMs for the last month or more.. Its hilarious. Especially since half of you will now start a thread asking how to root the new update.. Its an awesomely hilarious cycle.
Especially since in less than a day all of the custom twiz ROMs will be updated.. Lol.

I think people are just happy to have something that SHOULD be 100% stable. I've found one or two ROMS for 4.1.2 that have been 95% stable, and it's took some massaging on my part to make it work 99%. It'll be interesting to see how Samsung did 4.1.2 on our phones, so I'm down to download. I can rock stock for a little while

Ive been running CM 10.1 and will probably go back to it for the hotspot. I wanted stock for future use if I need it which I will debloat myself. A lot of people like rooted stock over custom roms because most custom roms have bugs and so does CM 10.1. And yes, it seems someone popping into the thread and lol'ing is also part of the humorous cycle.
So no multi window with jelly bean for us? Or is that just for 4.2.2
