Official Froyo [BETA Firmware, NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON KIES, MUST use ODIN] - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Hey, Just wondering nobody mentioned it till now, but I just updated my SGS with Kies to FROYO!!!!
Version is:
I9000XXJPC
Benchmark and GPS-Test later.
MOD EDIT: FYI, this update is no longer available on Kies, the only way to flash it right now is with Odin (which is rather tricky and risky...not recommended for anyone not already familiar with the process!!!)
ALSO...Flashing without unlocking the phone FIRST can make it EXTREMELY difficult (if not impossible) to unlock afterwards!! Be sure to unlock it BEFORE flashing if you're going to need it unlocked in the long run!!

OMG you're serious???
Dammit I gotta try

No mention found on WWW regarding this new firmware, I9000XXJPC, except this thread

I also got the update! used this reg file
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU"
"HIDSWVER"=""
"DEVCONINFO"=""
dont know if it is froyo but is is JPC, and downloading now

I smell a troll.

Run now!
If you are making this up then i am getting my bow and arrow and coming to troll you in germany

The reg edit was what I did, too. Was on JM2 before. Oh, and Kies was in Test mode!
How can I make a screenshot to make you believers?

There was a tar file and a dll file in the JPJG8 package too. I simply ignored the dll file and used the tar file as the PDA. And of course a PIT file. Everything else blank. Worked fine.

New Asian FROYO DXJP1

Found a new Asian Foryo realese DXJP1. The people in chinese forum Kingmobi and BBS says its oficiell. I dont now. It seems to be a test firmware because it has to extra icons in it called spare parts and dev tools and when i click them it opens some testing menu with several options (among them Accounts tester,bad behavior,connectivity,development settings,package browser etc.
It works really well not much lag in touchwiz and it feels very responsive.
Download link: http://www.multiupload.com/OVRO768IU0
Forgott to say build date seems to be 08/31
Definitely a development build.
Can you please provide some benchmarks thanks

[Q] Confused about FROYO 2.2 and how to get it.

I see a lot of people talking about having 2.2 on there i9000. Where do you get it? I thought you had to wait for it to come on keis. Can someone explain this? Thank you
Yep the update comes on kies and pretty much everyone has got it now. Other then that u can flash ur device to froyo via odin.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Froyo is rolling out across the networks not al have it yet .
One you wait for your network to supply an official update and then use Samsung Kies to update .
Or you download whatever copy of 2.2 you want use Odin to flash it to your phone .
Negatives with flashing one voids warranty and two very small possibility of bricking your phone . So in your shoes i would wait until your network releases update .

Wrong section. Not Q&A.

No update notification yet? Force Mango on your device!

Check out the manual posted on WPCentral. I did it myself, and can confirm that it works.
Yay for another duplicate thread...
BTW, I did it and my phone has been frozen for almost 30 minutes. Use at you own risk.

Just as always, sure. Worked great for me though.
And duplicate? Sorry, but I checked if there's another thread about this very topic and I didn't see any. My bad I didn't check every single thread about Mango if it contains a post about how to get the update without waiting.
Thanks! finally got my update that way
Come on, gang, you all can't be that impatient
The best thing to do is wait patiently and allow the system to do what it needs to do. If anyone doesn't get the update today or tomorrow, MS has said it can take up to 2 months for everyone to get it.
Be patient and don't screw up your phones.
If tricking zune allows you to update, then statistically there is no reason one person should get the mangos before anyone else. obviously there isn't a server issue if we can download it this way just fine... I'm sorry I've been waiting far too long. I didn't even do it for the post nodo update that 1.3 never got for what ever reason

It's 7.10, not 7.1, and that is the actual version number. 7.5 is the marketing name for the release.

I have no idea, but I doubt that. I was referring to the official update, which contains build 7.10.7720.68. If you are using a custom ROM, it may or may not contain all of the final Mango features.

[Q] Latest Incremental Update LI3

Rooted, Stock, LG8
Started getting OTA notifications this morning. Rebooted into recovery and the notifications went away. Still on LG8. Am I missing anything substantial on LI3? Should I just wait for the official JB update? Thanks in advance.
Official JB release has yet to be officially announced with a date. So, I suggest you go ahead and update. At least you'll stop getting the notifications if you do.

Thanks for the reply, Naddict. Couple of questions:
-In order to update to LI3, is it as simple as going through the "System Update" utility in the settings?
-Is it safe to assume that once I update to LI3, I'll lose root?
-If so, how do I go about gaining root again? (It's been a while since I first rooted, so I'm unsure of the methods.)

Your thread is relevant to my question, so I'm hoping someone can help me, as well.
I'm new to android, and I've found that every time there is an OTA update, I cannot find ANY information on it. I received a notification to update today, as well, yet it doesn't tell me what changes will be made or what is being updated. Is this normal for android? I'm not exactly sure where to look for this information, since hitting "more info" tells me nothing.
Not trying to invade on your post, but I'm thinking you might know the answer to this.
Thanks!

Hi Naddict. Thanks for humoring my "Hi. I'm super new and have stupid questions" status.
My "internet machine" (awesome) must be limited to banning all updated information. On the sprint blog for S3 updates the latest one is from 9/19 and I don't see any relevant information regarding an update from today. That's where my confusion lies.
My main issue is that I don't even know what to search for, as I don't receive any information regarding the update number/title/etc.
A popup just asking me to install a "system update" doesn't really do much for me. I'll keep looking. :good:
Take care,
Mike
