Texts delayed/Not working, Calls too - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, so Ive been having this issue for a week and a half or so. Basically, text messages are either super delayed to receive or send, or they dont receive or send at all. Calls, both incoming and outgoing, are hit or miss. Data, though, through 3g and Wifi, works as good as it ever did as far as I can.
I hadn't changed anything, or done anything to set this problem off that I could think of. I have tried totally wiping, using different roms (CM6, various versions, which was working prior to whenever it had stopped working, and others). I have restored a nandroid backup from prior to the problem occuring to be safe, and it causes the same thing.
Installing one of the sense roms, I did get a clue to what was going on, at least for my text messages, in an error message or two that popped up after trying to send an SMS :
SMS Error, Other General Problems
There may have been an error message about not enough bandwidth, but it only popped up a time or two and I forgot to write it down.
followed by
SMS Error Cause Code : 107, Error Class 2
I'm at a loss as to what to do, as service seems fine in the area. The only thing I haven't done is updated the PRI since rooting, but I am uncertain whether or not that will fix it. Once I have a Windows machine, Ill see what I can do to get it updated.

[Q] CM7 MMS issue

I searched the CM7 thread, but MMS and issue are such vague queries that I was unable to find anything pertaining to my issue.
I can receive MMS fine, but I cannot send at all. I choose the pic I want to send and hit send, and it just disappears. Doesn't show up in the thread of messages. Then when I back out of it, I see the last message I sent that person is (no subject) like it was my pic, but when I go into the thread it is not sent. But it shows up with the pic again like I never sent it. It saves it as a draft. Any time I hit send it does the same thing over and over. I can't even get the pic to delete from drafts. The only way is to delete the whole thread.
I have changed my number in the call settings to show with a +509251xxxx, no dashes or anything. Is there something else I am missing? I have tried several different CM7 builds and all have the same problem.
bump - really? Nothin guys?
Edit: reflashed CM7 and only restored apps+data, no system data and problem was resolved. I assumed since my system data was from a prior CM7 version that it would be no problem, apparently I was wrong. Thank me for all the help
I have the same issue. It doesn't disappear for me, but it just stays there wit the spinning circle thing. It never sends and after a couple of minutes, it says I cannot send the MMS.
Is there a solution without reflashing?
same problem.mine says mms is too large
I have the opposite issue. I've been completely unable to pin down the issue. I can MMS myself pictures and can MMS them to my email, but I cannot receive them. I used to receive them just fine, but now it's an issue.
I've confirmed that I can't receive them from iPhones, BlackBerries, and other Android phones.
I've checked my APN and know it works. I can access Mobile Data.
I've tried third party apps for messaging and that doesn't help.
I've spoofed as an iPhone, BlackBerry, and Custom (Blank) Agent without any results.
I've ensured my phone number in system settings doesn't have any symbols.
Anyone fix this issue?

Uhh, yeah that sucks: I have absolutely no idea, im on GingerVill 1.5 and it works fine, I also flashed sense, regular cm7, miui, and I never had a problem with it..
Try to download handscent or go sms and try that? I doubt that will work but give it a try!

I've got a similar issue -
Using CM7 7.0.3's Mms.apk my phone processes sms no problem, however it will not process mms - send or receive.
Go SMS Pro however will let me SEND picture messages - and Its going through my carrier because in an email to myself it was full of their crap - Sent to you from a Koodo Mobile Customer!
Unfortunately I cannot receive mms; Go SMS implies that it relies on the Mms.apk to forward notifications.
Considering that the Mms.apk isn't syncing with the mmsc properly, I'm assuming the problem lies there. I've even gone so far as to go to one of the phone kiosks and ask to play with their new Nexus S (*drool*) and ripped the apns off of it and uploaded their apn directly to my phone. Still, no dice.
Any suggestions anyone?
I've been having the same problems. Tried lots of things. I was also using Go SMS pro, and thought that was the issue. Tried fooling around with apn, user agent and MMS size etc... Nothing worked except the simple fix:
What I had to do to make it work was to have my mobile network on -- (which I almost always have off from the notification switches). Once it was turned on, it still didn't kick over because I was connected to wifi. So I had to manually disable wifi and then resend the message. It worked fine then.
So:
Turn off wifi
turn on mobile / 3g
resend message
Seems like a simple bug that's keeping the mobile network from kicking on.

[Q] Outgoing SMS not being received.

I'm having a weird problem with 2-3 people in my contact list never getting any of my text messages. I've tried flashing over many other roms and sprint even 'reset the device' remotely, to which nothing helped. Anyone ever run into this? Also, this problem doesn't seem to be on their end - as they can send me SMS just fine.
this is strange. now i'm only getting texts when i place a phone call, like 10-20 are coming in at once.

[Q] No incoming calls

I've been running the Synergy nightlies for about a week now. I'm currently on 6/13. I dont remember the exact day this started but I cant receive calls. I can send and receive texts, email, facebook, etc. I can even dial out although it takes about 20-30 seconds. When people try to call me they immediately get the google voice message. I am also getting the "Radio Interference Resource Shortage" message. I am wondering if anyone else has this issue. I am not sure if it is rom related or not. I have always done full wipes via Amon-Ra. I was able to update PRL/Profile but it didnt seem to make a difference. Any suggestions?

[Q] [HELP!] Expert Issue. Not receiving SMS messages.

Had Evo since day 1. Rooted right away and have been ROM-happy, flashing my favorite as developers release them. Went from Fresh to Myn to MIUI and am now on my favorite, most stable and reliable rom: Deck v1.
Problem:
9 days after switching to Deck I stopped receiving sms messages completely. This is not an issue of the notifications for sms being turned off, nor is it a ringer issue. The text never comes through. I can send texts without issue, no problem.
Tried to fix this in these ways:
•*I made sure I wasn't blocking any texts; this can be done at sprint.com > my account.
• I called sprint so they could remove/re-add my sms messages which usually fixes this type of issue.
• I restored a nandroid backup taken at a point when texts were working.
• I tried restoring the stock image - then updating profile. Still wouldn't receive.
• Obviously rebooted 35 times throughout the course of all this (i have to say it, somebody will ask )
• Full wipe etc.
Nothing worked.
Called Sprint knowing they couldn't do a damn thing and would probably stop listening if they knew my phone was rooted. Long story short they sent me in to get a new Evo. Was worth a shot, I wasn't convinced it was a hardware issue (how could it be, sms is not dedicated to a particular piece of hardware in the phone) but I went in and did the swap.
New Evo, unrooted, texts worked! but wait, that's not all.
9 days after rooting again and installing Deck v1 - poof - no incoming texts. The exact same issue.
WTF is going on here?? There is nothing in logcat, absolutely nothing happens on my side when somebody sends me a text.
Google voice texts are a good emergency workaround but I want my native texts. Is this a deck issue?? anybody else getting this? i;ve ggogled for weeks now and nobody has come accross this particular issue. Also this issue wont fix itself. i went a almost a week the first time without noticing i wasn't getting texts.
Have you tried a ##786# reset? You will need your MSL code. Also, it will wipe all data from your phone, so take that into account. When you ##786#, let the list load and then hit "menu", and "reset".
When I first flashed to a GingerSense rom, I lost the ability to send/receive MMS and I was not able to connect to 3G at all. 4G and WiFi worked, but the 3G was nonexistent to my phone. After calling Sprint several times, one tech told me to reset my phone this way. I told him I would have to call back because if my phone was going to get wiped, I had to back everything up first and it would take a while. After I backed up all my app/data with Titanium and made a NAND back-up, I did it and it got my phone working right.
Hopefully you get the same result. Good luck.

Flashed back to a Sense/stock rom to do just that. Didn't help.
Whenever somebody has issues like mine it usually involves sending AND receiving. For me it's strictly receiving.
People also center these issues around MMS. Sending MMS is not an issue for me. I can send everything. I can't receive a damn thing.
That certainly is an oddity. I've been using decks 1.2 since C, and am currently on Z. I've never had any issues with not receiving sms messages (as far as I know...I suppose it would take someone to tell me that they sent me a message and I never replied, which I haven't got yet) I have never really seen this issue, except on my buddies stock hero a couple weeks. His problem was that he had never deleted any of his texts, so literally had like 10k messages or more in there. Once I was finally able to get all his damn messages cleared out (took forever...he wouldn't let me factory reset it) he was able to start receiving texts again. I'm sure that's not your problem, because you've been flashing and wiping, surely your texts have been cleared out...unless you restore them all. That's the only time I've seen that. I would've suggested maybe it was an issue on sprints end, which would not be unheard of, but if that was the case it wouldn't have worked on your new unrooted evo when you got it.
I saw in deck's thread that you already deleted the telephony.db directory, and that had no affect for you. I really wish I had some suggestions for you, but that is just odd. My first guess would've been a problem with sprint.
EDIT: Also, are you using the GV and Sprint integration? I don't use it, but I saw that if some settings weren't correct with that (from the google voice website) that all messages will go thru google voice, and not thru the native messaging app. Could that possibly have anything to do with it, maybe?
If you have Sprint/Google Voice integration, that is the problem. There are some funky things going on with Google Voice lately. Can't send messages from Gmail to a Google Voice number and have it register as a cell sms. The message is automatically sent to and only goes to the Google Voice Inbox.
I've had some sms trouble with all ROMs, not simply Deck's. It sounds identical to your issue. Google is the only constant between all ROMs. My problem was resolved by going into Google Voice settings, unchecking "Receive text messages on this phone," saving changes, then rechecking it and saving those changes.
I have lost the ability to receive sms numerous times. I am convinced it is a Google/Sprint integration issue.
I cant get text messages either. I can send all day and im testing, flashing roms, recoveries, I just unrooted as a final solution (so i thought) and nothing. Same crap. If anyone has a fix or if the fix is on another thread let me know please, thanks. Other wise im just gonna root back and say F! text messages
If you're on MIUI and didn't wipe, when you flashed it can cause these issues. Try to reflash, after doing a full wipe.

EVO with CM7.1 can't call certain numbers

Searched for a similar problem and I wasn't able to find anything that matches what has been happening to my wife's EVO. Recently I installed CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1 as found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143049
I also updated her to the latest radio/PRI/WiMAX/etc. versions when I did this. So that could also be the issue.
It seems that ever since I worked on her phone, she hasn't been able to receive emails, and she can't call or text me. I can't call her either. When she tries to call me, the phone vibrates and she hears the words "Enter the number you wish to dial, then press the pound key." When she enters my number, it says it can't understand. When I try calling her, it just doesn't connect at all and stops trying after about 30 seconds.
We're on the same Sprint family plan and I have an Epic 4G. Her sister, who is also on our family plan with a Samsung Moment, can call her just fine. Far as we can tell, it's only a problem between our two phones. So it might be a Sprint thing. But then again, she's not getting emails either, even though her data works fine for other purposes.
She's at work right now. When she comes home I am going to roll her back to the old radio, WiMAX, PRI, and NV versions (15.00.11.19, 27167 R01, and 1.90.003, respectively). If that doesn't work, I did make a nandroid backup from before I did anything. But her old ROM was kinda buggy (EViO 2, which was okay except it would randomly turn 4G on) and CM7 is supposed to be good.
Hopefully rolling back her radio versions will fix this; if not, is there something else I can do to fix it or prevent it from happening again if I install another ROM?
EDIT: Well, I fixed the email issue. That one was simple and silly - for whatever reason, her Google account was not set to automatically sync email. With that out of the way, I only had to worry about the phone call issue.
Her dad tried to call her several times yesterday and it would go straight to voicemail without her phone ringing. After rolling back her radio version, it seems to be working fine. Time will tell. Now the only issue is that Google Voice has decided to take over as the default SMS app, even though Handcent is set as the default. But that's a subject for a different thread.
