Reinstall Settings? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Which setting? From where to where?
If you want info, you should give some... but i think your answer would be: Titanium Backup. Although you should not use it.

No I need to reinstall settings cause it screwed up. How do I do that?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

What screwed up? And still, which settings? Do you even understand your own question. Be clear, or I can't help you.
Sent from my Evil Lair using Doomsday Device

Sound fcs when opening. The settings that you can access by clicking menu-settings on the home screen.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

That is a clear enough description. I think I cannot help you; to complex for my simple knowledge, but now maybe someone who does understand it might reply.
Do you know what causes this bug? Changed something there, or removed files from your phone (like ringtones/notification sounds)? Changed your Rom? Tried themes or other mods? Does the problem persist if you reflash your Rom? Even with full wipe? Did you try a factory reset?
...info is goood...
Sent from my Evil Lair using Doomsday Device

Well the way apps work on android a reinstall should be unnecessary(and impossible without root), as all changes to an app are stored in a folder on the data partition. A simple factory reset should work, if you are up for it. But start out with trying to go to:
"settings->programs(applications)->administrate applications ->all aplications -> settings -> clear data button"
I don't hope this force closes for you as well and some of the above line might defer slightly from yours, as I'm running another language and have just been translating
And yes you should try adding some info as: are you rooted? Are you running stuck or custom rom? Have you changed anything specific since this happened?

Can't factory reset. Too much stuff. When installing open desire, it is fine. Restoring a backup from next sense causes the crash.

[Q] Why com.htc.android.stock use my CPU?

The thread for Stockes : com.htc.android.Stock is using a lot of my CPU. I mean, 30/50%. I have removed all the quotation and set no update. So, why this application is still onsuming this CPU?
Am I the only one with this?
Go to settings, applications and try clearing the settings for the stocks app.

I'm facing the same problem with my HTC wildfire.... does anyone knows how to solve the problem? I'm not using this app at all...
Thanks
Well, for my side, I used Titanium backup to froze the application
Have you tried un-ticking the box for syncing Stock?
Settings - Accounts & Sync
Yes! and also remove all the quote and wiping data of this application.
And you removed the widget from the desktop (sorry, I don't mean to patronise but I myself know sometimes I miss the obvious).
Yes, of course. Freezing is the only working way for me.

Verify the download as the latest, download, and re-flash again.
Not sure about Chrometophone though.
MarketEnabler
If you don't feel like reflashing,
you can install apps restricted to certain zones (such as Chrome to phone) via the market using MarketEnabler
Reflashing doesnt work ,i.installed marketenabler from market but i dont know how to use it,now what i have to do.now?

Fire it up, go to the "Settings list", long press on one of the listed providers, click "fake this provider now" and then you can install Chrome to phone (and other zone restricted apps) like you would do for any other app via the Market.

ALL apps force close?
Something seems thoroughly wrong with your install. At this point I'd consider a complete wipe & reinstall of your ROM.

(Help) Sense restarts all the time !

Something that is really ticking me off after I updated my phone to 4.24, is that most of the time when i go into any app , and go back to the home page, the white and green HTC logo pops up and sense loads all over again ! Anyone else having this bug?
Sent from my unrooted PC36100 using XDA Premium App
My phone just started doing that, it seemed to happen right after installing Google Plus. Do you have Google Plus installed?
I suggest backing up ur SD card and formating it and doing a fresh install of Rom. That's what worked for me.

He's on the stock unrooted (and unrootable) rom. Backing up everything isn't really possible. His only option along those lines would be a hard reset with some data loss (of course most of the big things can be backed up or synced). If I were in that situation, I'd want to try other things first.
LiL xSOULJAx, it sounds like you're running low on memory. When you go into another app, it's killing the launcher, so it has to restart when you press the home button. If you're talking about this happening when you go into a game or something that probably does take a lot of memory itself, there's not much you can do. But if it happens with every app, even relatively simple ones, you should check under Applications -> Manage -> Running and see if there's anything running in the background that takes a lot of memory. If you see something hungry you can live without, try uninstalling it.
Thanks alot for the info ! Yes i do have google plus but im about to uninstall alot of apps and see if it helps , thanks again

Here is a lot of info, that will show that a factory reset helps some, but the awaited update will be the only resolution, That is if they don't screw it up also:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/70838
Well now my issue is all over since they I rooted yesterday ! Its amazing how fun rooting is lol, the whole process is mindblowing !
Are you running a task killer? If you end up killing the calendar app that's running in the background, it will reboot sense like 50 percent of the time.

Browser keeps crashing

Since the update from htc a few weeks ago or whatever, the www browser crashes all the time. Never had problems before the update. This is not, use another browser so please don't do that.
Tanks.

Try going to menu - settings - applications - manage applications - all tab - internet, and hit force stop. Then clear data and cache. Reboot and see if that fixes it.
No go. Not fixed. Crashes randomly quite a bit.

What are your phone specs? (ROM, kernel, radio, etc...)
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
And what exactly do you mean by crash? does the browser freeze? does it force close? does the phone reboot?
I have always found the browser to be somewhat finicky (a whole bunch of ROMs, froyo and gingerbread). But, the broswer was made to be (very) lightweight, as is the whole system on a phone, so I expect some difficulties with heavy content and poorly built pages. The browser will slow way way down when dealing with pages with many embedded videos, ads, and such.
My most common issue with the browser is it freezes with a half-loaded page (except CM 7.1 which FC'd all the time). Most all of my browser problems seem to do with not maintaining a solid connection to Verizon.
Things normally work if I do the one or some of the following...
1. ensure good connection to network (move to someplace with stronger signal)
2. restart browser
3. clear cache, history, then restart browser
4. do steps 1,2,3 and then reboot phone (usually not necessary)
There isn't anything the browser can do if Verizon isn't getting the data to the phone, which seems like the most common issue for me.
Browser just disappears and on any page. Cache, restart nothing helps. It can go to any page and just disappear. I can open right away and then it's fine. Other times I can be at a page for a minute then browser disappears. It's extremely buggy unstable pos since the update to 2.3 long ago.

I assume that means you are not rooted and still s-on. Without being rooted your options for fixing or trouble shooting are very limited. Really your only options would be to do a factory reset, and if that dosent work, an ruu.
OK. I've done reset before and didn't help.
What's ruu?
Is there way to root my phone from itself not hooking it up to a pc?

An ruu is a pure stock image direct from htc. It is what htc uses to originaly program the phone for the first time. Download the Gingerbread PB31IMG.zip and flash it thru hboot. You can find the ruu here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=22. And instructions on how to flash it here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=79.

[Q] Market has missing apps, especially one that are installed and/or purchased

hello,
i have a epic 4g rooted, stock rom, seems that when i go to the market, it does not show the apps that i have installed and/or the ones that i purchased. additionally, if i were to delete one of these missing apps, they still dont show up in the market/google play. I have attempted to use various market enablers, but this has not solved my issue. on another note, and perhaps related, when i use titanium backup only one app shows setcpu, while previously it was working.
a lending hand would greatly be appreciated.

assistance, please...
Try wiping data in Google Play, and let it rebuild your list. You may need to use Titanium backup for this.

This has happened to me before, and wiping the data should fix it. I was able to do it without Titanium through the app manager.
thank you for responding. that did not seem to do the trick, though. suggestions?

You could try manually flashing a different Google play version and let it upgrade automatically. This happened to me once and that fixed it for me.

The problem is FRUSTRATING the "F" out of me with Google Play. I have a rooted and running AKOP epicmtd milestone 5.2 and when I go to download certian apps (even ones I already had before on my apps list), I get a black box that says "This device isn't compatible with this version" It's making me crazy because there are LOTS of apps that are pretty common that I use I cant download. Like Facebook for instance. But there are more important ones that I count on that I cant get back. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone solve this problem?? I sure could use some help cause Im bout ready to throw this thing at my annoying step daughter LOL! Thanks
Ridge
Did you change your lcd resolution? That makes apps incompatible for your device.

Hey Kenny, I followed the directions to the LCD settings thing here, and now I cant get into Play at all! GRRR. it says something about background data needing to be enabled, but when I click on the option box to "enable" this background data, it takes me to "accounts and sync" and from there I dont know what the heck to do. Ive rebooted from there, Ive done this process over and over about 5 times and it's still not working and now some of my app icons have been changed to the little android guy. VERY confused now EESH!! Anymore ideas?
Thanks,
Ridge
Reflash the ROM..isn't that standard density? It probably wants you to enable gmail sync and sign in.
Sent from my PantechP4100 using xda premium
At the very top of accounts and sync in the settings you will see background data... check the box... background data has to run for the market to run
