[Q] Mobile AP

So I posted this on the Wiki like 56 pages in but I didn't get much response. I am on a completely stock but rooted Epic. I attempted to install Mobile AP and everything seemed to work ok, however when I try to turn it on it fc. I tried reading through the Wiki and didnt' see anything. I forgot to make a backup from CWM first but I am running titanium.
Thanks

Mobile AP is essentially wireless tethering but its infrastructure connection rather then adhoc and it's from the original i900 galaxy s phone, that has been ported for all other ones, however only works on 2.1 odex roms.

*#*#4636#*#* doesn't work on 2.3.6 stock ROM?

I'm on 2.3.6 stock ROM and the phone info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) doesn't work?
Is it just me?
Edit:
I definitely remember it worked on stock 2.3.5.
I tried it on Dewizzed and that doesn't work either, so I'm assuming it's not on our phones.

You know, I was just trying to use it and realized it doesn't work either. Is there another way to use
BT and airplane mode without it?

Just tried it on juggernauts and it doesn't work either. That's odd....I remember when I first got this phone it did work. Is there something you need to get to? Perhaps we might be able to suggest an alternate

i don't believe it works on any 2.3.6 based roms, but "battery monitor widget" from the market would have this option available to view the stats and other stuffs, free app.
As mentioned you can use "battery monitor widget" or "Network" available from the market to access the menu.
Also a neat app to have is "SGS Secret Codes"
Confirmed that it does work on 2.3.5

Tried it when my Lock Screen wasnt working,, ended up using Hidden Features free download from Market.

How did T-Mobile totally block my tethering?

Hey guys, I've been using workarounds and such for a very long time with my T-Mobile phones, and T-Mobile has been sending me "you're going to be blocked" messages for a while and I've just ignored them. Now, it says "you're blocked" and I just thought ok, I'll use a mobile user agent on my computer and secure sites...
Not so fast - my mobile hotspot SSID doesn't even show up on my laptop anymore using my Wireless Tether for Root Users app...how is this possible?
I'm on the stock rooted JB rom
I believe they started blocking by the user agent on your browser. You'll need to set it to something Android generic.
EDIT: just saw your comment on your user agent. Nevermind.
What message have they been sending?

Please, tell us more about what you have tried. You're using the Treve Mod - Wireless Tether app? And you changed the APN using the APN Backup and Restore?
That's the problem with jb touchwiz, ssid doesn't show. You need to adjust a few settings in the wifi tether app.. or there's a modded one floating around. I forget where the instructions are, but more workaround are definitely there for your problem

The modded app that you're talking about: Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988735 and download the one labelled "WifiTether-TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012_driverReload2." You should go into settings and change the Device-Profile to 'Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)'. SSID does show up and WiFi-Encryption and Access Control both work for me.
Hope this helps.
We got multiple threads on this. please search before posting. Also wrong section.

PM me and I'll send you the file I used. It enables the stock tethering feature, just flash through odin.

any other suggestions?
I rooted and expected to use Wifi Tether using my stock ROM like I did with my GSII but it kept erroring when activating the wifi.. I'm not entirely sure how it works or if it would work for others but I downloaded Power Toggles on the appstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc specifically for an NFC toggle (which was worthless as it only opened the settings menu) but I happened to try out the Hotspot toggle and I noticed it just skips past the verification step and turns on the hotspot. I haven't actually tested it out yet but I did notice the AP it broadcasted showed up on my friends phone.

It works! Thanks !!!
Wifi Tether
Use ES File Explorer, the newest one. Go to the sidebar, then the Tools menu, then Net Manager. I'm using the random APN. Go to your computer, wireles networks, click the ssid from ES File Explorer and and put in the password. Done.
Im having the same issue and tried the treve modded version with busybox installed... im prolly just missing a setting but any help would be appreciated!

I'm on AT&T stock and not rooted. I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan (yes, likely throttled at some point).
I just found out an app I've had for years on android allows me to hotspot my Note 2 and my Bro's SG S4. Both are stock and NOT rooted.
The app is ES File Explorer. Look in Tools / Net Manager / Create Hot Spot
This made my day. No root or ROM. Just a free app I've used for years who's new feature rocks my world. I hope that helps.
Edit ... Hah, A.Noob beat me to it!
Use settings at the bottom to name an SSID and password of your choosing.

Mobile Data & Hotspot Toggles Missing. Can someone send the missing files to me?

I was cleaning some bloatware off my system/app directory and I think I deleted some toggles without knowing it. Can someone send me the files containing the missing toggles? Thanks in advance
The TMO M919 S4 does not have the mobile data toggle. ...I am using notification toggle from playstore until someone gets them working in a ROM....
Oh. No wonder. I had the SGH-M919V firmware which had all the toggles but I messed up my phone and it got stuck at the Samsung logo so I had to flash a T-Mobile rom to fix it.
