Has anyone come up with a fix for Pandora's terrible sound quality with froyo? I did some searching but didn't find anything.

Yes, most of the latest ROMs and Kernels already have implemented Google's fix for it-- just load up any of those.
Alternatively, you can disable Stagefright manually-- see this thread for details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745320
It's not the same as the Google fix, but it works...
I have bakedsnack and kingx installed and pandora sounds like crap. I'll look into disabling stagefright, thanks for the link.
*sigh*
Kernels aren't going to do jack. It's the ROM which has the problem. The only ROM I've seen that actually has the Stagefright patch is CyanogenMod (RC2, Nightly, and Final). Really. Go try it.

I tried cyanogen for 2 days and hated it with a passion.
I'm running EViOs v1.1 froyo rooted and noticed Pandora was sounding like crap. I went into settings and saw there was a new setting for audio quality, it was defaulted to "Normal", so I changed it to "High" and all was good for me.

Sorry but thats not a new setting and it has nothing to do with the quality issue that started after the froyo update...its stagefright that came with froyo...
I have tried the fix for non-rooted users and it did not work for me unfortunatly... Is cyano's the only rom with a fix?
The leaked 3.28 spint update definitely fixes the problem. Disabling stagefright *WILL* fix the audio, however your camcorder will also be broke.
or do what I did, go back to 2.1

The latest Fresh ROM has the streaming audio fix. When I first installed it, I thought it hadn't worked, until I realized that Pandora installed itself with a default of normal quality instead of high. After changing it to high, everything was golden.

I dunno, I just tried that and it didn't seem to work. Pandora still sounds like garbage.
Pandora Fix Zip
I had a file named "Pandorafix" but deleted it somewhere. I'd like to find it again. Although I cant say it worked. I would like to find a fix for pandora. Some roms are better than others. Jamies RSL1 Dark Cocoa seems to be best for me so far.
So here is the file I found a few months back- I'm gonna try it tomorrow and see if it works

That Pandora Fix Zip fixed my issues with poor quality sound on this current rom. Running xXBabiBoi228Xx_ManilaCarbonFiber_v2.4_3.70.651.1_signed rom.

Got the OTA Froyo last night and I have noticed the audio quality on several different occasions is very poor. Specifically, when running a game with Gameboid or other emus, the sound is terrible.
The audio is also ridiculously distorted when streaming flash videos, like on Crunchyroll.
That being said, the built in internet explorer does not seem to have taken to the flash 10.1, when I try to run something with flash, it says I'm outdated and to upgrade, however, when I try to 'update' flash, it can not find the page in the market, nor can I search for it.
Dolphin will run flash 10.1 but there is still no market page for it.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems with flash it the audio? Or does anyone have a fix for this?
There's definitely a sound problem. There's a fix from Adrynalyne out there in the wild. I'd link it but I don't know where it is off the top of my head, but at least I am telling you it's out there, right!?!
Search for stagefright.

I'm not sure that Adrynalyne's fix will work in a non rooted phone.
I'm using Skyraider's 3.0 RC3 Sense...both Pandora and XM/Sirius is working fine.

Search for stagefright 2 with Google. It's a patch.

The audio sound quality and volume has been greatly improved on IncDoes's desire hd port. The audio through the headphone jack sounds better and is much louder. What file or files are in direct relation to this? Basically, what file or files do I need to rip out of his Rom to apply this to another Rom?
EDIT (10-10-10): about a week or so ago i did get the result i was looking for. i copied and pasted probably about a dozen or so files from the Desire HD rom to the Virtuous rom i am running and i did get this to work. i just have no idea whatsoever, which file actually did it.
i'd like to get this figured out so that i can apply this hack to another rom if i ever decide to switch to another rom. i'm running a very early version of Virtuous, 2.0 to be exact. if i update, i'll loose what i somehow did. 2.0 has been running pretty flawlessly though i gotta say.

ok, i would, but the rom is broken. streaming any kind of audio makes the phone unresponsive within about 10 minutes or so. it works fine for about 5-10 minutes and then the cpu usage gets maxed out and the phone becomes completely unresponsive. if that one issue was fixed i would continue to use the rom, but until then, it's useless to me. in the meantime i would like to get this kind of audio quality onto a more stable rom.

use adb push and overwrite them. make sure to nandroid backup first. also, when you boot run adb logcat just in case you run into errors.
give it a few days, theres gonna be a big skyraider rip or a new version of RR with everything fixed i bet

i think your update.zip worked like it should have( phone booted and is running), but the audio is still the same. i think it's a different file than the ones that are in your update. thanks for the try though.
is it possibly part of the framework, and not in the lib directory?
haven't installed that rom, but in other roms i've used where dspmanager is installed, that app greatly improved the sound quality. maybe it's built into the framework with tweaked settings already in place?

yea i already have DSP manager. have been using it since the day that it was discovered to work on the incredible. this is something completely different. on incdoes's desire port the volume is considerably louder and just sounds better. there has got to be someway we can make this work on other roms.
i was just hoping a dev that knew which files controlled what, could lead me in the right direction.
have you tried just PMing ID and asking?
Hey everyone,
I have everything working on this ROM the way i want except for audio quality. I've heard of/have bluetooth audio issues, but i have issues on my headphones and speakerphone alike while playing music. Has anyone else had this issue or have any remedies? This issue is driving me crazy as I use my music on my phone for about 8 hours a day... When playing music through the phone speaker, extreme distortion starts at a little less than half way up; meanwhile all volume levels on speaker give low end sound.
Music is stored on a 32gb sd card. S3, speaker is not blown, just for some background information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :good:

Titanium Backup all of your app data. And yes I always recommend a fresh install (wipe cache, wipe dalvick, factory reset).
This is VERY stable, been my daily driver since the day it dropped!!
Awesome. I'll flash it tonight. I already used titanium yesterday so i'll be good to go tonight. I couldn't find on the forums, but did they fix the bluetooth audio issues going on in 4.2.1? Thanks for all your help man.

Just wanted to share this here. There is clear audible decrease in audio quality on 4.2.2 when listening over bluetooth (A2DP). All the higher tones were somehow garbled, like cymbals, or high vocals, etc. I could clearly notice the poor quality on 4.2.2 on my car stereo and also the improvement after installing the fix on my stock rooted GN 4.2.2 (GSM). I haven't tested this on custom ROMs.
Steps:
Root your phone, if not rooted
Make Nandroid backup (in worst case, you might not be able to boot)
Download bluetooth.default.so http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39632#c158 Also attached to this message.
Download audio.a2dp.default.so http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39632#c163 Also attached to this message.
In /system/lib/hw, rename bluetooth.default.so to bluetooth.default.so.bak (or whatever)
In /system/lib/hw, rename audio.a2dp.default.so to audio.a2dp.default.so.bak (or whatever)
Copy files to /system/lib/hw
Set permission on both files to be same as with the original files (644)
Restart phone
Edit: deleted

CM's Bluetooth quality (I mean A2DP streaming quality) is much better than on stock ROM.
I noticed the difference when I tested CM10.1 first Nightly of JB 4.2.2..
Does this help with call quality over standard Bluetooth

I have been looking for something like this!!! Thank you! What exactly does it do? Does it increase the bitpool of the stream?
FYI, I just noticed that it changed my bluetooth device name to "Nexus 4" which can easily be changed back in the bluetooth settings...
Very, very good fix. thanks

Interested in this answer as well. Can anyone clarify please?
Is it possible/likely that in addition to fixing issues with quality, this will also resolve the high-speed playback problem? A few other people and myself have experienced BT audio streaming where it plays back way too fast in the car. So far there doesn't seem to be a qualified fix for it. I'm interested to try this and see what happens - just wanting to see if anyone knew for certain ahead of time.

Thanks so much for posting this OP!!! I have been lamenting my purchase of the N4 until this fix. The phone is now perfect! Well aside from no voice search for music like Siri (Google Voice search never pulls up my music).
I finally fixed my Bluetooth in call audio.I switched back to 4.1. This really sucks as I got used to 4.2.2 pull down toggles. I really hope Google gets this straightened out. This fix does help the Bluetooth audio streaming but my work truck and headset are not A2DP and when in call the volume seems to fade in and out. My Subaru has A2DP and made music easy to listen too but in call still seemed bad.

Any chance this fix works on non-Nexus hardware? Since moving to a JB phone from one running ICS I have lost two very useful facilities - Llama being able to pick up cell changes without the screen being on and good quality BT audio.
Not sure if this will help anyone else but found doing factory reset fixed most of my 4.2.2 Bluetooth issues. Ota gave me issues. When 4.2.2 Google factory image was released I fastboot flashed it did a factory reset immediately and all seems to work fine but id tags for songs.

Has anyone found a fix for the bluetooth not finding low energy (BLE) devices on the CM roms? I have been searching for months but have found nothing. I have read that it was a stack issue so tried replacing some of the configuration of the stack.conf file with stock but did not help.. I don't like the stock rom very much but am forced to use it because of this bluetooth issue.

Yeah looks like it. Posted this in multiple threads and no responses.
Was hoping CM13 would work with BLE but it doesn't look promising. I obviously need to just get over my irrational dislike of the LG stock UX and learn to live with it. I think I might have to go with a different make of phone next time.
Beware stock 6.0 has the same issue.. Google's bug
