So just recently my accounts & sync in my settings started to force close on me. I'm not sure why it's doing this, I only noticed it was like that when my contacts from Google weren't in my contacts list anymore. I know I can fix this by just wiping my phone and reflashing the rom, but I don't really want to lose progress on my games that don't have save files on the SD Card. Do you guys know another work around to get it to work for me? I am running CR's stock OTA update with the add-ons. I am also using the jit tester 2, the one in alpha I guess.
The add on package is what is giving you problems. Take a look at the files it removes, at least one of these (stock.apk) is required for your accounts to sync. It might be worth a try to nandroid backup and reflash the rom without wiping. Alternatively put slide into recovery and adb push the files the add on removed.

I don't think I made a nandroid for the rom when I flashed the add ons :/ can you tell me what directory I would push the stock.apk to?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
/system/app. You will need to determine all of the apk and their associated odex files and push them back via adb while the system is in recovery.

You lost me at odex. Doing a reflash doesn't sound so bad right about now lol

Memory has dropped to 34mb and I have not added any new apps. But google maps has updated again and that's when I noticed a major drop in system memory. Seems like google is trying to hog the whole phone. Anyone else notice this?

Have you cleared out all your caches?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Yes. It is really starting to p me off! There is no room for apps. I guess I'm gonna have to start learning how to pull all the crap off. I can reload the rom if I pull something that messes up right?

do you have a **** ton of text messages?
I had 800+ and once I deleted them I got 14MB of internal storage space back
i have the same issue
mine shows twice and then dissappears
can someone elaborate on the manual method
?
Is the update worth losing the memory for?
FYI, root explorer won't work. You can only remove them via adb while mounted in recovery.
How many apps do you have installed? I have 38 apps installed, easily over 1000 texts, and I've never cleared my cache and I'm still at 68mb internally free.
If you search the General MTS forum, there's a good thread in there on what's safe to remove.
Like 5 apps and not much for txt msgs. It's like something just gradually eats the memory away.

Can someone tell me how go put all my apps somewhere whenever I flash a new rom? I always have to download everything again-_- and also my gmail contacts aren't saved from where they were saved on previous roms..any help? Thanks

Titanium Backup does this. You can backup/restore apps & settings. Also, you can extract the .apk files and copy them to your sd card.

I'll second the Titanium Backup recommendation, makes it easy to get your apps back where they were after your flash a new ROM or wipe. It's a must have app for any Android phone IMO and is good enough to be a sole reason for rooting (I rooted my mom's OG Droid just so she could use TB)
Is there a auto install for titanium? Instead if running batch and clicking install for every app?

The paid version doesn't require you to click install for every app (it's a true batch operation).
Do i need the premium key??

make sure that your data and contacts are syncing with google, you can do that by menu>settings>accounts>autosync
I've turned it off and on about 150 times in the past 2 days. I can't do anything with it because it won't pull up my apps that are on the SD card, it just has the market symbol and when you click the app "application not installed" I've tried mounting it to the computer to see if that would fix it, at which point it freezes. I take the SD card out, put it back in, no fix. I pull the battery out, nope. I am running the stock ROM.

sounds to me your sdcard is fried, if you got a micro USB try using that with computer,to see if its shows up, will recovery read sdcard?
My SD card is fine. I can go in the gallery and look at the pictures on my SD card.
I haven't tried booting it into recovery.

I am rooted with stock.
I have been thinking of going different ROM.

Which type of A2SD are you using? Google's buggy A2FAT or the real A2EXT?
You mean what Apps2SD? I'm using a app called that, which I believe uses the Google one.

Okay, there are two types of A2SD out there. There's the original one that uses an EXT partition on your SD card (attainable through CWM recovery, A2EXT/the real A2SD) and there's the buggy imitation that Google introduced with Froyo which uses an ".android-secure" folder on your SD card (A2FAT). I recommend partitioning your SD card and then using either DarkTremor's A2SD script or go with PyroMod ROMs.
I just want this fixed, tell me in simple, human English, how I can fix it.

you can try to go into recovery and fix permission as go into settings and applications and move the apps that are in the sdcard and move to phone and move it back into sdcard

why go through rebooting into recovery when rom manager has it built in?

How about a little process of elimination.
1. Use a file explorer and look in the .android-secure folder on the sdcard (or do this with a computer, your choice), are the apps in there?
2. Do the apps show up in your app drawer?
3. What did you do in the past few days that caused this, upgrade your ROM or switch to a different ROM?

I booted the phone up, fired right up and is working fine.
As long as it doesn't turn off again I will be fine.
When I go through the app drawer, the applications that are on the phone show up. But the applications that are on the SD card don't. Almost as if they aren't there or there wasn't a SD card in my phone. As for not having enough patience for Android, I've been into Android since the day the first Android device came out, which was the G1, I've had many other android devices since then. I would never own an iPhone, my girlfriend has the 3Gs one, and it's a piece of ****. How many years did it take for them to figure out they should put a flash on it? How many versions of the iPhone does it take before you can have a wallpaper? Don't get me started. "Start me up, I'll never stop"
Thanks for the help guys, I just need to be more patient, I guess.
I've had the little generic icon that shows up when an app just isn't there anymore. From the sounds of it one of two things has occured.
The permissions for the .android-secure folder are screwed up and need to be changed, or possible even the /data/app folder permissions got screwed up.
The other is that the apps just are not there anymore. You still haven't said whether or not you've taken a peek in the .android-secure folder to see if the apps are there.
My pal has a MyTouch 4G and he likes the way my contacts show up with the ability to navigate via the Alphabet on the right side. What are the chances of damaging his phone if I export my Contacts.apk and remove his internal Contacts to install my apk of Contacts on top of his phone? Will it be too much of a hassle and mess things up? Has anyone tried this?
It'll probably get force closes because I believe our contacts apk is tied in with touchwiz framework. All he can do is back up his apk and try it. If not he can restore it with root manager or a nandroid backup if he's rooted.l and has clockwork installed

I like the mail app from my Thunderbolt Bamf 1.11, can I copy the mail.apk to the a100 and run it or is there other library files associated? The acer mail app doesn't seem to allow me to change senders. I can only forward an email from the same account.
If its a stock app for that device then the short answer is probably not.
Stock apps that came with a device usually have external components either built in to the rom's framework or it may have additional libraries or even a odex file that tells the app how to write to the device's dalvik cache. There's no harm in trying though, the worst that could happen is that the app would fc on your a100.

That's sorta what I thought. I'll ask the developer maybe I can get an install.
