Is it possible to port the notifications bar from the Epic 4g to the Evo? I'm using Fresh 3.2 with launcher pro so I cant use the 4g widget that comes with sense. But anyway, having it in the top bar along with bluetooth and wifi would be nice..

this is very nice. there are a few things i would love to see pulled out of the epic.
Yes I would love to pull out the epic screen!!! But I believe it would be too much work for the devs.. lol
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Man, I just think the Epic is nice overall. I can't fathom a hard keyboard anymore, but the rest is just about perfect.
I'm reasonable, though, so I'll keep the Evo. Unless somebody wants to buy it?
my girl just got one, If it were me I oribably would not like till ROMS can out. Minor things the Samsung friendstream-like widget is pink and top of the screen has indicator thing that you can not place anything on top of

Well, I'm switching over to Sprint from T-mobile because I get an awesome employee plan. I'm starting off with the Epic 4G Touch. Hopefully I'll like it more than my Sensation. I just don't like Touchwiz...
I came from tmobile and had the sensation and I got to tell you the epic is way better by miles

The only thing the Sensation has over the Epic Touch is of course the microphones...IMO
Not sure what their isn't to like about Touchwiz. It is a pretty decent launcher but if you do not like it, it's not like a big deal to use something else.....
Unlike Sense, Touchwiz at least doesn't bog down the whole device.

Don't worry about touchwiz. It's only a launcher. It's not way up Androids ass like sense... Once rooted you can remove it completely in seconds.

Well so far I really like it. I just wish there was a way to turn off the auto-dim when the phone thinks it's overheating.
I switched over from the sensation too. the phone is great but i cant even stream my google music anymore.... Man, its terrible. It takes forever!

Give it time. The network upgrades are rolling out faster than I expected. At home I still get the same depressing speeds but at work it picked up a little and on other towers around town (especially the high congestion areas) I'm seeing awesome speeds.
At the gym the other day I downloaded a 70mb podcast...figured it would take 30 minutes...listened to one 4 minute long song and it was finished when I checked on it after that song. I remember downloading cyanogen updates at work over 3G and it taking like a half hour or more...(86-90mb ish).
I figured this wouldn't be happening so soon...but, I think it actually is (in select areas).
I can't wait for the next PRL update.

I made the jump today and ordered the Epic 4G Touch. I plan on immediately rooting and getting started with the fun! Anyone else come from a Hero and what are your thoughts? I loved AOSP on the Hero so hopefully there will be some good roms like his over here
Wow that is a huge jump in terms of hardware. Lol
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yea, it was either the Epic or an iphone and there's no freakin way i'm leaving Android.
I came from the Hero. This phone works so well I haven't even bothered rooting it yet, but that will all change once ICS is out.
I got an evo 4g hw 004. my friend has an evo 3d but she doesnt like it and wants a regular evo 4g. she offered to trade straight up, just switch numbers between the phones. although the evo 3d is superior in specs, what would you do? keep the 4g or go to the 3d?
Dev is a lil slow on the 3D right now especially for AOSP, & for some strange reason every custom kernel that's available for the 3D causes random soft reboots & sleep of deaths (except for AOSP kernels, they been flawless). If you're a Sense user like me, go for it, Warm 2.3 & viperROM are the best Sense ROM's over there IMO, plus the much better specs of the 3D over the EVO are a plus, but if you're strictly a AOSP user, then stay where you are, EVO has much more stable AOSP ROM's at the moment than the 3D does.

Yeah I was looking at the dev on the 3D and it doesn't compare to the OG as of now. I like Sense, but I also love running some AOSP too. I am always nandroid restoring between a sense and the latest ICS build for the OG. Just something about that smooth, snappy feel of pure AOSP that I like lol. Hopefully, the 3D will get an ICS port, if one isn't already available, that is equal to at least what deck is doing for the OG. If that happens, then I will for sure switch so at least I am running AOSP on similar specs to the Galaxy Nexus. Thanks for the input!
The e3d is good, and fast. My dad has the 3d and I have the 4g, but I prefer the 4g. Feels like it has a wider screen to me, wich I like . And theres a ton of stuff in the dev section..
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
i dont see how this is even something to consider. sprend a month with a evo3d and u will know that u cant compare the two.
dev support moght be slow for the evo3d now but it will be gone for ever for the evo 4g.
i recently switched back to a 4g because of money issues and a ev4g+ $250 helped with christmas. i will be goimg back asap.

Yeah 4G has a wider screen, 3D screen sacrificed width for length to accomodate the higher screen resolution on the 3D

Take the 3d . Imo sense is super fast on the 3d . And in a month or two the roms will pick up. My wife has the 4g and its still a beast , but for the long haul the 3d would be better.

Had a evo for over a year and my wife still has hers. I recently upgraded to the 3 d model, via legitimate insurance claim.
No comparison. The 3d Is so much smoother, love the clarity of the screen, and the extra ram comes in handy.

I have the HTC EVO 4G and if you're okay with the 5MB pictures on the 3D, I'd definitely switch. I belive the 3D has more internal memory and it has the dual core processor as well.
Title says it all. I'm up for upgrade as of right now and I think it's about time to move to a different device.
What do you suggest?
The 2 best looking phones there IMO is the evolution 3d and the epic touch the evo design my cousin and her boyfriend have and they have lot of problems. But if I had to pick I would wait a little longer because the galaxy nexus is coming to sprint if you look on their main page

If it had to be a now thing.. can't go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S ll, Epic 4G Touch. However... I am in the same boat (new phone time!), but I am waiting to see what they announce this quarter and the future of LTE.
Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and San Antonio are slated to be the first to go LTE, so if you are in those areas it might behoove you to see what comes out. Right now the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper are upcoming LTE phones.
I'm leaning toward the Epic 4G Touch as LTE means nothing to me. My area doesn't even have WiMAX (now it never will). And from what I read, the E4GT will get official ICS Q1 2012 anyway. That right there pretty much evens the playing field between the two phones.
Still interested in hearing your opinions though.
Levels the playing field?
What about the fact that Gnex is pure Google without the ugly Twiz UI? And will get regular updates thru Google ?

Is that "feature" alone enough to justify a probable $100 price premium for the Gnex vs E4GT? For me, it's not.
I say if your not worried about lye e4gt is the way to go or u can join the apple fanboys and get a 4s lol

Et4g over 3vo any day of the week and photon is a big disappointment had all 3 in my house et4g was the winner still have that crappy photon too lol it sux with its funky bootloader and borking stuff to unlock it the 3vo was a launch day and had crummy radios in it so it got traded for the photon which is a better all around phone than the 3vo just isn't great for flashaholics

I've had so much success with the eVo og that I'd have to go with the eVo 3d.....
Galaxy S2 at the moment, although that new Nexus is coming.....
I've heard nothing but good things about the epic touch but I'm personally trying to hold out for the nexus
Epic 4G Touch has me scared now. All I read about the phone is poor signal and useless GPS. I'm not able to find any recent threads that confirm if this stuff has been fixed or not though. Can anyone help out? Maybe first-hand experience??

I might have to do that. It'll be more than $199 for sure, but hopefully it won't be a hunk of garbage like it sounds like the Epic 4G Touch is.
I moved to the photon. Only phone that has a kickstand now. And reception...I hazzzz it!
My only complaint is pentile display but its no biggie any more.
Rom dev is kinda slow but all quality stuff.
After my experience with a nexus s 4g I am gonna skip sanding as they seem to be having the same issues with the cdma radios on the big V
Good luck either way.

i just broke my screen again and im eligible for a fulkl upgrade but im debating whether to pay the 100 and keep the epic or come here. its the hard keyboard that keeps me there. is this phone amazing? does anyone regret not having the hard keyboard. any opinions would be greatly appreciated thanks
I had the Epic 4G, epic 4G touch, and now the S3.
I dd miss the keyboard on my Epic 4g Touch, but I think I got used to it. Now I'm on the S3 with SwiftKey and I'm typing a lot faster than I did with my Epic 4G.
There are a LOT more new features if you are going from the Epic to the S3 as well.. .
I don't miss my keyboard one bit from the epic. I'm using Swype beta.

I approve this message. Same setup here with FreeGS3 and SwiftKey. I bought the Epic originally b/c of the keyboard, and really never used it. I didn't like how the keys were in a straight line, and not offset like any other keyboard. I could never really get used to it.

Or you could do what I did..used my total equipment protection on my epic 4g and right after ordering a new one I used my upgrade and got a new gs3 and a newly refurbished epic 4g two days later.....I was skeptic I'd miss the hardware keyboard but the phone more than makes up for it with the bigger screen.

I also had the Epic 4G and 4G Touch. I got the Epic 4G because I had never used a smart phone that didn't have a keyboard. But I never used the keyboard on the Epic 4G because I fell in love with Swype. So the upgrade path for me was an easy decision. But to put it into perspective my wife would not own a phone without a keyboard. After she used my phone for a while she is begging me to get her an S3.
Come to the S3,
the hardware keyboard is amazing i do agree as i had one and it's the only phone that i've completed a full year with!
but you get used to having a virtual keyboard,
the one of the Gnex was amazing, this one has it's quirks but oh well.

I second this I had the Epic 4G and the 4G Touch also. I got the Epic 4G because I thought it would be convenient, but I fell in love with Swype so the keyboard became extra weight to the phone. I really loved my Epic Touch and I would still have it if it didn't go out on me last week, and it was cheaper in my case to get the S3 (full upgrade, and Sprint Buyback on 2 phones I paid $93). My girlfriend on the other took over my Epic 4G when I got the Epic Touch, she eventually moved to the Evo Shift, but due to playing with my Epic Touch and S3, she's moving to the Evo LTE next week, so the keyboard thing is beginning to play out, go grab a S3, I prefer white
