who's going to be ditching their epic for a nexus s?
I will. Not because the epic is a bad phone. But the nexus s whill have much more support and receive updates faster most likely. And the pure google experience is a def factor
Not me, just hope that we can use some of google updates it gets on our epics
To me its like a downgrade, yes its pure google, but i like my epic hardware i have bragging rights over a lot of my friends which have any other variant of galaxy s phone
Will be cool tho if we can port some stuff over like latest versions of android and 4g support easier for cm7, and other good stuff.
Also dual core phones will be out soon, and it will be outdated..
i will be changed my mind after i talked to my homies in the irc made me realize how sweet it would be...
CM7 on day one ???
Yea ill take that....
I'm seriously considering it because i've always just tolerated but never really wanted a slider phone.
i've always wanted the slate experience.
Not me; I'll stick with my two-year plan for now. I'm sure there will be better phones by end of next year anyway, even if the Nexus S is a great phone.
I'll be switching to a thunderbolt this week. I watched my friend hit over 12mb/second download while I was under 1/2mb/sec...
No thanks, lol.

epic has gingerbread (CM7). i think that if we give it time, epic users will see some bad ass roms being developed. and who knows, since the nexus and epic share the same specs, porting could be kinda easy (im assuming. idk, im not a developer).

The guy that is giving you the Epic Touch is slightly getting ripped off as the Epic Touch is better and has a higher value... In the end, you get the better half of the stick...
Congrats!!!

I have them both and I much prefer the epic touch. plus it doesn't feel slowed down by sense. so to me it would actually be an upgrade.
Which is why I said that (I'm assuming your sex), he is getting the better end of the stick or however the hell I phrased it,

I asked if he wanted any cash on my end. He said no he's not worried about it. Were going to meet at a sprint store do the esn thing and swap phones.
He said he doesn't like tw and prefers sense. And ironically I like tw and hate hate hate sense.

That means that you got a great deal!
I agree, I just came to Sprint after leaving the Evil AT&T and after researching for a week I decided that the E4GT is the best they have even after 6 months. Congrats.
Just left work early to pick up my Epic 4G Touch! Wanted to say what's up to everyone over here in the Epic Touch forum! Rooted with Heimdall as soon as I got home. Let the fun begin!
Came from EVO 4G btw... which is currently doing a great job of tethering my my PC (i think its the kickstand)
Anyways, What's up all! Gonna start reading now.
Welcome and Congratulations on the new upgrade.
Just got my ET4G yesterday and im loving this **** so far... Just missing ICS a lot tho i came from an NS4G and ICS is where is at

There's a couple options for ICS. SBrissen's CM9 build with SteadyHawkin's FB17 kernel is almost flawless, minus USB hosting.
Calkulin has a Touchwiz based ICS leak from Sprint/Samsung that works pretty much perfectly.
To the OP: Congrats man! You're gonna love the phone. You got here just in time for the serious development to pick up.
Congrats don't scratch it so you can sell it when the nexus comes out. Lol joking.....kinda
Anyway incipio feather case black best case ever I drop this phone almost everyday no fear.

I just got an E4GT from a buddy last week. I miss the kick stand, but enjoying everything else. I wonder if it seems so much faster due to dual core or if the Xynos processor is just that much better than the Snapdragon.

So far GREAT phone, The "Hello Galaxy" is like Siri. Cool trick, not sure if I'll keep it though. Boot speeds, snappiness, damn near everything's looking good.
Thanks all for the regards. I was on a waiting list for 2 months to get my EVO 4G and would hate to send it out to pasture.
So what have all of you done with your old EVO's and other smart phones, now that its about that time for most upgrades? Keep it around for games etc? Miniature tablet for the coffee table? Just curious...
I have evo 4g and it has battery issues
also it has started hanging lately, not behaving well
I would like to have s2
I am eligible for upgrade but dont want to shell out 300$ for 2 phones
Welcome, congrats on your upgrade.. Happy flashing to ya

Sorry to hear that, are you Rooted? Once you have root check out this script, it helped my Evo4G tremendously. My Evo runs Miui ROM; But there is a script for Sense and AOSP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499345
I bought a few after market batteries from Amazon for my Evo, 1900mah and i've not had a problem at all with battery.
Hope that helps. What will you do with your EVO once you do upgrade?

Not sure I can scratch this things with the glass it has! I do want the Nexus but didn't want to wait until Fall for something new
I do need a case so I will def look that up. Thank you!
Is it me or does it seem like Sprint forgot about it in favor of the new Evo? I thought the Nexus was the first LTE phone for Sprint......
Who cares about the nexus? That thing was already behind the curve when it came out.

Still a nice phone with full aosp and lots of custom rom support such as CM9. That being said I am fully happy with the my epic touch. Such a sweet phone. Especially once CM9 gets better.

It will be the first, the Evo 4G LTE still won't be out for another while. The Nexus should be out before then, but like the Nexus did for Verizon, it'll probably come out quietly without the big commercials and announcements.
You mean the phone sprint employees apparently just recieved training materials for?
I bet it hits this month. The EVO LTE will be late May or the first couple of days in June I'd wager.

I'm way to happy with the SGS2.. I think the nexus would be a step back. Cm9 for our device is about there..
Locked bootloaders turned me off with the evo 3d.. I'm holding off on that SGS3...

LOL! Coming from 4 different 3d's in less than 6 months. Wasn't going to give HTC another chance after that.
Had the 4g for two years, the lte for 29 days and this here galaxy s III for eleven days I believe.

I remember when my Evo 4G was brand new almost 2 years ago. It was the thinnest phone I had used at that point. It was so fast and perfect at everything. Putting MIUI on it made it even better. I've had my GS3 for a week, and I can't believe how old my Evo 4G feels when I use it now.
Oh, well. On to bigger and better things.
I had the EVO 4G and the EVO 3D.
SGS3 is rooted a few days later from June 21. Now running Blazer rom and ICS Domination Theme.
Rom dev is kinda slow around here but this phone is not even a month old here in US. MYN is developing some Warm Roms for this phone.

When you go into these forums there's no way you can avoid thinking about these things. It's quite addictive. Rooted my phone even before custom roms were available. Lol.
Got my OG back in March of 2010, loved that phone, by far the best I ever had (hell just look at my name) , flashed a new rom on it weekly. The first week after getting my SG3 I am like...what evo?
I had my evo for 2 years and I still can't part from it when I got my s3. I'm going to make it my mp3 for my car. Lol
Yeah I'm still running stock with root on the s3. Just waiting on myn and his team

I've been debating the switch, but I love the Sense dialer, HTC widgets, and the keyboard that has directional arrows. Playing with the GS3 at the store didn't impress me that much. I know it has far better specs, but the UI didn't grab me.
Am I the only that is still passionate about their OG? Its separation anxiety. I just got my S3. Can I ask you guys since I am already here, any of you guys worried about flash counter? I had my S3 for less then 4 hours and I am itching at the fact that I did not root it yet.

I too was worried on the 1st day, then was over it and rooted the next day. Threw on TB and Droidwall and froze a lot of the bloat. Ran really smooth. Personally, I knew I wasn't going to keep the phone stocked forever. Sooner or later, its going to get rooted. In regards to the what if I need to return, my personal experience returning rooted phone thru sprint rep over the phone is a whole lot ez'r than instore rep's.

Don't let the launcher/dialer/widgets/keyboard keep you from a great phone. All those things are fixable; you can download third party apps to replace them. Check out the Go launcher/dialer/contacts/widgets/keyboard. There are plenty of options out there besides Go, but it's a good place to start. Seriously, the phone kicks so much butt.
