Does any one know if there are conductive chargers compatible with the Vibrant? I love the idea of having a power mat next to my bed to reduce some of that cable clutter.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I think you mean inductive, and I don't think so. That would need to be built into the phone somehow to support wireless charging. Perhaps a replacement back cover? The only known power input is the usb though, so it would be difficult to build.

They have cases for it to adapt it to the iPhone. I don't see it being too hard to produce one for the vibrant. Maybe even a back cover adapter...

The iPhone cases cup the bottom and plug in. Not sure I want to add more length or width to my phone, personally. A replacement back that patched directly to the battery would work, for me. Of course, the phone wouldn't know about the charging, that would be a little weird - wonder if it would mess with the battery calibration.
Shoot i thought it was conductive. Well that sucks, I think I might just look for a dock then. =(

Looking for one or two decent ones. Not planning to use a case all the time, although I did order a cheap TPU case off of ebay to use occasionally.
This one looks interesting. Like the combo of the metal look with the black. And I like that I can charge a spare battery. Anybody tried it?

Sorry. I had seen that thread awhile back, but didn't pop it up in search for some reason. I don't see this particular cradle in that thread, though.
Ya, that thread has fallen a few pages in, but figured it might help, lots of discussions of different docks in there. I posted in there about my experience with a dock from ebay seller nakedcellphone, which ends up being the same thing from oriongadgets in the androidcentral forum link I posted too. It's also a cradle with a spare battery charger, and I really like it. Has a nice support that holds the phone (no case) instead of some of the docks that don't have much more support than the micro usb connector alone, which I would worry about with that dock that you posted. Just got some cheap Chinese ebay batteries from tuttoit today that lots of folks have said good things about, so this will be my first time trying the spare battery charger, but all in all, I think it's a great dock.
For those impatient like me who cant wait for the Samsung Dock.
Just got this in the mail today, figured I would snap some shots (MyTouch Slide camera and it's blinding LED flash.). It is very sturdy plastic that does not flex under pressure. It has no slip rubber grip on the bottom, and on any place where the handset touches. It holds it well enough that you feel confident using the phone's touch screen while in the stand. It probably wont fit with a big case in portrait tho, its pretty close to the sides as it is.

Awesome Stand!
This is the near perfect desk stand since it allows for portrait, as well as landscape, viewing...and you can use the device while its on the stand.
One thing that would make it better is if it could charge a spare battery.
Good find, I think I'm going to pick one of these up for use on my desk at work.
before i buy this, does turn on the dock mode when i put it in for the captivate?

It has a magnet in it, and works for the DroidX dock mode, but no luck with the Captivate (personally, maybe I'm doing it wrong). Are there even desktop stands for the Captivate out yet that do that? I haven't even read anywhere yet that the Samsung desktop dock does that.
Hi folks,
Been having this problem for a little while now and decided I'm fed up with it. My Verizon GN will only charge if I wrap the cord around it as such:

I have tried multiple cords and the problem always persists. Any suggestions on now to go about getting this fixed?
Thanks!
Since you have tried multiple cables.. It could be the wall piece of the charger not having a good connection around the USB, try a new one of those.
LOL....
sorry didnt mean to laugh.
1) the power cube/brick(where the USB attaches) might be faulty
2) the charge slot on the phone might be faulty
3) all of the above

How do I go about fixing this?
Appreciate the input!
It may the electronic where its charging. I recently moved out of an area where the power was bad and suffered a similar issue to a new area and now my phone has had issues
It sounds like probably the USB port on your phone is bad. Wrapping the cord around the phone must hold the plug in just the right position it needs to be in to connect correctly.
My phone isnt charging,,,well really it charges but maaaaaaaaaad slow. Its not the ROM because i have been on two since this problem and i usually switch between those two ROMS. i think something is wrong with the MicroUSB port. Everytime i put the phone on a charger it starts and stops charging like it has a short in the wire. i know its not the charger because i have used 3 different wires and tried another E4GT ITS the phone. My question is...how can i fix this? I used to use my sisters E4GT to charge up the battery and put it in my phone but she stop letting me do that so now im SOL.
Bad battery or bad charging port, buy a couple extra batteries and an external charger.... If it's the charging port, there is no way to fix it without taking it to a professional, if it's the battery, buy a new one.

This magnetic USB cable is really good? No harm to the phone?
it wont be a problem using magnets as long as they aren't really really strong
