After trying both CM6 and SkyRaider Vanilla, I'm still looking for a true vanilla rom!!
CM 6.0.1 is vanilla, but it's still HEAVILY modified. Plus, it freezes with a blank screen, or Exchange stops updating, or force closes pop up every once in a while, etc.
SkyRaider has a "vanilla" version, but again it's heavily modified.
I'm not asking for just a vanilla UI, I'd like a vanilla UI AND OS. Give me a vanilla OS that hasn't been screwed with...please? A clean, stock, VANILLA UI and OS that's as near to Google's code as possible (like the Nexus One for example), that hasn't been tinkered with, and that just works on the Incredible.
Will those smarter than I please tell me if this is possible, or feasible?

Ruby and Cyanogen is probably as good as you're going to get for AOSP-based ROMs right now.

i believe it's still going to be rc1, so not everything is going to be working (wimax and hdmi come to mind right now).
but yes, still more than likely to be more polished than sense.
yea i saw the one rom looked pretty proising(except said there were still some issues here and there with it) i was hoping for a pretty much final build all done and good to go! oh well i can wait a bit longer i have a nexus one now so no big rush!

AOSP means Android Open Source Project
AOSP roms have Android that isn't molested by anyone else besides Google. No fluff added.

Check the Vibrant forums. You'll be happy you have the G2.
And in response to the post, I haven't tried MIUI myself, but I have a friend who absolutely loves it. I like having Cyanogen just because it looks stock. I've been using the Android OS since version 1.0 with the G1, and I've grown comfortable with the layout.

Well MIUI is MIUI so it is what it is. But with ICS you get hardware support.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
From the bottom of my heart... ----> **** Miui
Educate yourself!
I have to say that looks just about like past MIUI iterations. And I agree with what someone said earlier in the thread, the launcher does look quite dated. Quite frankly I never did like MIUI because I'm not a fan of imitating the iPhone.
God damn that music app is beautiful.
As much as I hate MIUI's lack of app drawer, I love how everything is skinnable and gets updated frequently with useful content.
Also they just seem to have a better handle on interface design than any manufacturer or in some places even Google themselves.
You are using Android, and you are on a forum called XDA-developers. Presumably you care a little bit about software freedom, openness, being able to tinker and not be limited by what some vendor tells you to do.
So what the hell are you doing with MIUI?

So you're telling people who take advantage of software freedom by using the software of their choice to not use the software they like?
Seems a bit counter-intuitive don't you think?
In fact the very idea behind the "freedom" of Android is the release of free source code for developers to do whatever they want with. The developers behind MIUI just happen to be making something you dislike.
Miui is actually pretty cool if you replace the launcher; the built in customizations are pretty in depth. I agree with most in that I hate the stock launcher and iPhone appearance, but that all easily goes away with ADW or Go!

I have to agree here. Stock ICS is damn good. I used to install all sorts of roms on my N1. I flew stock on my NS for the 9 months I had that, I don't see that changing with the GN, really digging what they've done with this phone and OS.

I personally don't like Miui because its too much like iOS and less like Android but you are so wrong here.
I know bench marks are not worth much but I could get my Nexus S to score over 3000 in Quadrant using Miui. Only Miui. I could not get score's like that with other roms.
Its a very very good rom, just not the Android style.

I am not sure if I am doing this right because I do not generally post links. If this is wrong, please remove it as I did not intend to disobey the rules. Now, this was the last rom I was running on my Hero before I got this beast of a phone. I loved this rom and I thought the apps were themed greatly. I am not a fan of iOS, but to me it does look clean and served as something fresh. I feel with the many different ports of ics, whether it be from sprint leaks or from aosp, that something fresh would be awesome. Swamp is doing a great job chipping at Sense, and I think it would be nice to have something else new and exciting. Personally, I am not a dev and would have no clue about how to go about porting this, but if a dev could work on this or at least teach me the basics of how to do it, that would be amazing.
Dear god, why would you want that garbage on your phone. You want iOS? Just open your app drawer. Tada! IOS!
I care less about the launcher as I obviously could use any replacement launcher. I like the look of the music, messaging, and other basic apps.

Thats why xda is such a great community. There even a JB dev thread over in the HeroC forums. I'll probably have my old hero on 4.1 before my E4GT.
I originally rooted androids cauze i got tired of my hero running Cupcake when Froyo was in the works. Crappy carriers make great catalysts.

They even finally got MIUI running on the HeroC. Hence the reason I love this community so much. The Hero ended up getting Froyo, GB, Honeycomb, ICS, JB, and god only knows what else can be done.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm definitely checking this out when I wake up, downloaded and ready to go! But just curious, also yes that is toro ported and works just fine.
Edit: Fantastic ROM, has done stuff I've wanted for months.. and that's where it ends. I honestly will not use this ROM until it changes base. AOKP is the worst, that's my opinion but you got yourself a fantastic ROM here. If these apps and various other apks aren't framework dependent then I'll use some in a different ROM.
Again amazing ROM, you have done what I've been trying to do for months and namely the walkman widget is one. I hope you change the base.

It is great, but a little laggy. Will it get faster in the future? As well as this, the themes do not work. Any way to fix this? I am not trying to be mean, and by NO means am I a developer. I am amazed how you got this to work, and just want to help.
EDIT: The lag fixed itself, I dont know what happened. That is fine. Only problem is It wont reboot after first successful boot. It probably is Android Tweaker Pro. It is a great app, but also caused my stock rom to randomly reboot.

To answer a few of your questions. (Im updating thread now to)
1. I do plan on updating to 4.2 just need to update the code a bit and wait for the lockscreen to get ported.
2. Yes its based on AOKP 4.1.2
3. My rom is different because im going to take the time to keep it updated with anything new and im always constantly working on new ports to add to it. Its also more featureful, and its going to support toro and toroplus as soon as i get 4.2 working.
4. WHY YOU HATE AOKP SO MUCH? JK im using any base that i find most stable, im pretty sure im going to switch it for the 4.2 update since AOKP is constantly releasing updates for it and it will be hard to keep up with it.
5. Lag? I really have not noticed any lag besides the Xperia live wallpaper, thats sony's fault for not optimizing the app properly.
This ROM is running great. Loaded lean kernels latest stable 4.8 and all is good. A nice break from AOSP.

Oh, I've never heard of this then lol
The AOKP hate, its opinion but on both devices I've owned they been just so horrible and cheesy.. I don't like that swag button. The features are lacking. Honestly I'm on a stable base of 4.2.2, using Orca. The features are just amazing. I'm guessing because I tried the apks is that a lot of this framework doesn't really work for 4.2.2? I mean this is basically an Xperia ROM. I'm really impressed, I'm really hoping we can eventually get an actual port but I doubt it.
Secretly "I want a W8 port" love the style they use. Call me whacky lol.. But this is awesome you've made a breakthrough, or well your the only person who technically cares to do something like this. So I appreciate it this a lot man.
Edit: 4.1 doesn't bother me, we basically miss out on the status bar features. Just the base.

Just a quick note of congratulations and thanks, +Hyperrunner. I've been with Android since the first G1s were shipped, and this port reminds me of all the really inventive, well-done ports that we saw for the G1 back when other devices and models began to appear. I've been waiting for a really cool port to put on the GNex (which has had excellent but slightly bland firmware as stock from the beginning), and this Xperia port of yours really hits the spot. I think the AOKP base was a great choice. If it plays well with Linux Deploy and continues to be stable, this will become my primary ROM. Thanks a bunch, you deserve donations for your contribution to the Android community!
