MMS Server URL - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to change this yet in CM6, if not then where exactly is this setting stored so I can alter it?

Not sure what you have tried but have you tried ##3282# then enter your msl and then edit/advanced/mms server url = http://mms.sprintpcs.com

I don't believe the epst codes work in cynogens rom

They don't last I checked, but where is this setting actually stored at? Is there any other way to alter it?

I think I found where it's stored, I think they actually edit the Mms.apk and store the setting in a .java file. Do these files stay the same between roms, ie. can I go flash a different 2.2 rom and edit the setting, pull the .apk and push it to CM6?

Okay, that didn't work. Can someone please tell me where the MMSC url address is actually stored at?

Accidentally deleted APN settings and can't connect to Data

Was toying with random toggle widgets and 3g data stopped working. I accidentally hit reset to default in the hidden APN settings and it just deleted everything?
Can anyone help me with APN settings or a simple solution? Thanks mucho.
Did you try updating your profile by going to settings -> about phones ->system updates ->update profile ?
If that doesn't work do you know specifically what settings you need? For example, do you need dsa server, mmsc, etc? I might be able to tell you the settings I have.
Updating profile doesn't work, it just gives an error. Funny enough, my 4g works fine.
Need a whole giant list of things though I was hoping their would be an easier way

APN

Go back to DI18 via Odin, update Profile + PRL, then odin back to DK28, then reflash whatever ROM you were using.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing Overstew... I'm on syndicate, so I don't have those options above. I tried looking elsewhere but couldn't find anything either regarding those"default" settings.
if you know your msl try doing a data restore, ##3282#, it should restore it back to defaults, but your device might not go through the ota programing
Does anyone know if there is a way to back up those pesky hidden settings just in case something bad happen to your phone?

I got a HTC u11 and I accidentally deleted the apn settings and it won't allow me to add anything except the apn but no other settings.

[Q] Crynogen: lost diagnostics etc

In aosp roms I don't have access to diagnostics screen etc.
On sense roms I put up the dialer and go ##3424#, ##3282#, ##786 etc. On aosp roms those choices are not available. I know that access is possible through the terminal but I lack the commands and I can't seem to search the forum with the proper terms.
Someone please direct me. Thanks.
those diagnostic functions are built in to Sense and are tools specific to the device from HTC. If you need to access them then you need to flash a Sense rom I'm afraid.
If I don't have access to those screens then how do I change the MMS Server URL? I can live having to flash for access to the other options but the mms url is a must!

Search in the market for an app called APN Manager. It will allow you to edit your APNs for MMS access. (BTW, APN #1 is Sprint's so you can just activate that one and MMS should work right there).

how would i edit menu settings in rom

I have been trying to figure out how to edit mutimedia settings in the ##3282# menu so that RTSP port is 0.0.0.0 and proxy is 0 by default when the rom installs.
if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated
You first need to make sure you're installing a touchwiz based rom, since CM7 and MIUI roms don't have this hidden menu. Next, you need to find you MSL Number. You can either call Sprint and hope you get a representative that will be nice enough to tell you or follow these instructions
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/sprint-epic-4g/135422-easy-way-get-your-msl.html
After you get that number, simply type ##DATA# into your dialer, go to edit, type in your MSL, and navigate to Multimedia to change the proxy. Note that most custom roms have this already fixed so it might not need to be done. Good luck anyways

Has anyone successfully done this?
Was going to give it a try, does anyone have the direct market links for the necessary apps--specifically apnbr and autostart?
PS Think these are the others:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appdroid.anycut
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.japps.apnbr
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
Yes, I have tried it on two phones, I can post video link too, and you can download them from market too
Links to apnbr and autostart, please?
its in the mmsfix.zip link

Are you sure you wifi is off, and the db files show your phone settings.
Please click thanks if this helps, install the sqlite editor from the mms_fix zip, and then using rootexplorer, check the telephony.db shows your settings.

Settings???...all I did was set checked all the box on permission for telephony.db and I use sqlite to go into that file and clicked on the second option and a whole list of carriers popped up and it looked like a Excel database file with metropcs on the very first main top of the page and i went and change only the username and password (which is my metro pcs msl).

I had that problem with a couple of phones...did you wrote the metro prl in the phone? If so then try manually programming (##yourmsl#)the phone after that then edit the mdn and msid. Just put your number instead and for the msid you need to get that from your old phone through the same process or in the "about phone" section.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I have tried all the steps a couple of times and still getting the FC error on startup and when I try to go into the messaging app??
Delete all the database files and the mms app, make sure you use 2004 prl, it will give you better internet (yes 1x works better than 3g).
Try the new updated solution, different rom and it work guaranteed

Do you have working mms, because other people are having problems
Do we have to use that ROM in the OP, or does any ROM work if it is flashed to Metro?
It'll suck to give up Cyanogenmod
try changing the apn settings, if it doesn't work then try changing mms app. use 2004 prl
!!!WORKS!!!
Hey it works now...i just came back to this thread to see if theres any updates or progress to make pic messaging work and it has finally work for me.
P.s. im using 3027 prl but ill give 2004 a try.

Possible To Modify MCC/MNC With Stock Rooted HTC One V?

Okay, a family member of mine purchased a One V and I rooted it, but I kept it stock so it's close to normal. But after all this it had MMS issues which I fixed temporarily with editing the APN's, but here's the issue. In most build.prop's they contain certain lines like gsm.operator.numeric=***** which is the country code and carrier code, this can be bypassed and work on any ROM if you edit APN's but it causes issues with videos if they send you videos.
I downloaded an app to check the MMC and MNC and they are listed as 311/270, the code I need to enter is 310/120, but on the stock ROM there is no way to alter the MMC or MNC as there are no numeric entries in the build.prop, so they are located elsewhere in the ROM, but I cannot find them, obviously an app like MCC and MNC info for US (app) can locate them and know's where the values are, but it doesn't say. So I cannot alter them.
Does anyone here know where to locate the needed file(s) I need to edit to change these values? This is a CDMA phone and not a GSM, So I don't know if that means the possible location would be different on a stock GSM/CDMA One V ROM. Also I have tried going into both PRL settings (##775#) and found nothing, and also EPST edit mode (##3282#) and the only thing in EPST settings is the MCC and MNC, but they are both set at 310/33, not the 310/120 I need, or the 311/270 that the MCC/MNC check app report back. So somewhere within the ROM's files the file that is reporting my SIM Operator Number as 311270 is conflicting with the correct settings.
