what files do i need to edit to change APN settings?
i want to change the APN type as it locked for editing?
i have gps issues and want to do this
# Check your APN settings, make sure that your default APN has the following entry in its APN Type: “default, supl” – without the inverted commas. This setting helps speeds up GPS fix everytime, SUPL (Secure User Plane) is defined in the GPS config of Android ROMs, particularly the Desire.
Try the APN backup app to delete the locked APNs and then create a new one from scratch.
Why thank you Sir

no one can help ?
really important for me to send pictures of my sons to my mother who live far away. i don't want to go back to official froyo but as mms is the only way for my mother to see the boys gtowing up without solution, i will have to
+1 here
I'm was on RC1.5 and had this problem, now I'm on 110930 NIGHTLY (clean install) and still can't get MMS to work with any setting. Tried manual settings for APNs but nothing. Data works fine.
Even tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253108 and http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/19827-mms-not-sending-with-cm7-rc4/ but without success.
Please help!
Finally SOLVED!
After trying everything that should be working (and everything that shouldn't ), I managed to find what is wrong. At least for me.
Here is my solution:
In APN settings you have one APN for internet and one for MMS. Network automatic setting set both APNs type as: default, supl, mms.
1. Set internet APN type as: default, supl
2. Set MMS APN type as: mms
3. Go to App manager and clear Messaging application data - this is very important!
4. Enjoy sending your photos

Has anyone successfully done this?
Was going to give it a try, does anyone have the direct market links for the necessary apps--specifically apnbr and autostart?
PS Think these are the others:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appdroid.anycut
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.japps.apnbr
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
Yes, I have tried it on two phones, I can post video link too, and you can download them from market too
Links to apnbr and autostart, please?

Please click thanks if this helps, install the sqlite editor from the mms_fix zip, and then using rootexplorer, check the telephony.db shows your settings.

Settings???...all I did was set checked all the box on permission for telephony.db and I use sqlite to go into that file and clicked on the second option and a whole list of carriers popped up and it looked like a Excel database file with metropcs on the very first main top of the page and i went and change only the username and password (which is my metro pcs msl).

I had that problem with a couple of phones...did you wrote the metro prl in the phone? If so then try manually programming (##yourmsl#)the phone after that then edit the mdn and msid. Just put your number instead and for the msid you need to get that from your old phone through the same process or in the "about phone" section.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I have tried all the steps a couple of times and still getting the FC error on startup and when I try to go into the messaging app??
Delete all the database files and the mms app, make sure you use 2004 prl, it will give you better internet (yes 1x works better than 3g).
Try the new updated solution, different rom and it work guaranteed

oh sorry, i dont know why i wrote that.
Do you have working mms, because other people are having problems
Do we have to use that ROM in the OP, or does any ROM work if it is flashed to Metro?
It'll suck to give up Cyanogenmod
try changing the apn settings, if it doesn't work then try changing mms app. use 2004 prl
!!!WORKS!!!
Hey it works now...i just came back to this thread to see if theres any updates or progress to make pic messaging work and it has finally work for me.
P.s. im using 3027 prl but ill give 2004 a try.

I do not understand why it is stated to not touch the MNC and MCC. On the setup settings it is required to enter these fields, it will not accept 'no value' in the fields.
I have mine figured out. It took some time but got it working. The above mms fix listed here only worked for my GB and not my ICS, in fact, it screwed with my web access. I have two Sprint Epic Touch S2 flashed for metro-one EL29 GB and the other FI27 ICS. I am not near my pc where I have the files and I think I wrote down the steps. My FI27 is rooted and I had to use Odin to flash a zip file that made my mms work. I will come back later today and post how I did it.

I tried the Epic 4G Touch flash and it did not work. I am using the
FI27 firmware on my SPH-D710
You used the ics zip? You may have to reboot once after flash also clear cache and dcache also go into dialer ##data# msl code and check to see if it changed apn settings to metro. You can also use anycut to check after flashing zip if when you open apns in anycut it says metro pcs then changes have been made.

I have done all of this too. I may need to re-do everything. OR...it could be the Sprint files re-setting everything.
There is also a better program than QPST: http://www.cdmatool.com/Download
it is called DFS and works on all windows platforms. It is designed very well and does everything.
I will let you know if I figure it out.

ROM Manager Problems
It appears that the issues are stemming from ROM Mgr and CWM.
Even with these installed, I cannot install from SD Card. Is there a different way to do this?
Or a better ROM Manager program?
I have never had issues like this on other Android phones.
I would not recommend rom manager just hold vol up and power your rom should have cwm recovery with it if not go to development and find the one that matches your build and flash that way.
If you give me your current build I can link all you need I would suggest a jellybean leak just pm me will walk you thru

Here is how to get mms working for metropcs, ICS, FI27. This zip file is for the FI27 on ICS, I haven't tested it on other ICS versions or custom rom. I am using the touchwiz rom. NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES- PLEASE DO SO ON YOUR OWN RISK
To check what build number you're on:
Settings/about phone/Build number (last four)- this one is for FI27
BACK UP YOUR PHONE IF YOU HAVE CWM OR CUSTOM RECOVERY
Sorry that I can't give credit for this zip file- I know I found it here on XDA- please let me know or give credit to the OP of the zip file.
Your smartphone has to have CWM to flash a zip file. If not, I will include the files necessary to get Custom Recovery. If you already have CWM or Custom Recovery just flashed the zip file "Epic4Touch-credomobile-ics-mms-testfix-signed"- place or move this file onto your sd card or internal card
Flash a zip file, power off/press power button and volume up at the same time/install zip from sd card/power button/choose zip from sdcard/find your zip file/power/reboot
How to install Custom Recovery (CREDIT: kbking77)
Must have Odin installed on Samsung S2 and rooted.
1. Put AGAT FI27 REPACK into your Samsung
2. Start Odin (on your Samsung), it will ask if you want to install add on-
3. Click on Kernel and select where you installed the AGAT file in (internal or external)
4. Once you find the AGAT file, select it
5. Click flash firmware and continue when asking about your battery, if it is under 50%
6. A warning telling to continue at your own risk, press continue
7. Another dialogue box pops up with MD5 signatures have been detected, press check
8. Your Samsung will restart, wait until it boots up completely and then power off (power down)
9. press and hold power button and volume button up at the same time until the Galaxy logo pops on
10. your now have the ability to flash, update…
Hope this helps you get MMS on your metropcs flashed S2- mine is still working.
Update: I removed a zip file that did not work. The working zip file is below.
This is the zip file I flashed on three S2 phones (4.0.4) now, mms working. Sorry I can't give credit to the OP, I know I found it here on XDA. If you know the OP, please let me know or post name to give credit.
Update: Credit for this outstanding zip file goes to Oakieville

Back on the S8 I was able to add "dun" to the end of the apn data profile for tethering but they are grayed out on the S9. I tried shortcut master and while I can get to it I just can't edit it. Anyone know of a way to do so? I'd like to have unlimited tethering and also if there's a way to turn off the throttling that would be great as well.

Nothing yet. As far as I know, you could flash the U firmware and that would allow it. I have been looking through some adb commands as well, trying to see if we could do it that way.
I went to add one and was finally able to select that one I added and I made sure to put the "dun" at the end and so far so good

There's a thread in the 9+ forum where one person said he had to try several times (using SML) before it actually worked.

I've literally tried it all.
PDANet+, FoxFi, EasyTether, ClockworkMod Tether ... none of them would work. They would automatically be stuck at 2mbps instead of my normal 30 to 40. Hiding tether/hotspot this way was NOT an option at all.
Specifically on my Sprint S9 and another S9+, I had to do it in this order:
1) Open the Shortcut Master Lite and open LTEFunctionalityTest
2) Open LTE APN Setting
3) Open an APN you want to change.
3) If it's greyed out, close everything and then restart from #1.
4) Edit APN Type, add ",dun" to the end.
5) When done editing, save, and you should be good to go.
If that doesn't work even after trying repeatedly (make sure Shortcut Master Lite is completely closed, etc) ... then you can try the following which allowed me to edit the APN on a sister Sprint S9+ phone:
1) Dialer App, ##3282# (DATA)
2) Edit
3) Sprint MSL for mine is 000000
4) APN Settings
5a) "APN" and "APN protocol" should be editable. Make a minor change, save your APN.
5b) Then change them back, save the APN again. Do this for each APN you want full access to.
6) Open the Shortcut Master Lite and open LTEFunctionalityTest
7) Open LTE APN Setting
8) If it's greyed out, close everything and then restart from #6.
9) Edit APN Type, add ",dun" to the end.
10) After you finish editing, save, and you should be good to go.
Note: You might want to do this for both APNs as one is for LTE & one is for Roaming.
Consider this working on a Sprint S9+ & Sprint S9 Snapdragon SM-G960U - 8.0.0 Oreo Build Feb 10th

I had to do this a third time after Factory Resetting my phone, the second set of steps let me do this very quickly.
Do not update your PRL or Profile in System Update, this will wipe out your changes.
This..............

2) Edit
3) Sprint MSL for mine is 000000
4) APN Settings

9) Edit APN Type, add ",dun" to the end.
10) After you finish editing, save, and you should be good to go.
That worked for me...to a T!
Thanks!

Using this method, APN is not editable for me. But the Shortcut Master Lite method worked fine. Maybe this would work if I hadn't already changed it via SML?

Trying to get hotspot bypass working... PDAnet works, but is spotty. I have edited my APN's successfully (I had to rename before I could edit). As well as added the ADB commands. I sort of have hotspot working...
When I disable M.data and enable hotspot AND am connected to WiFi, it enables and allows me to re-enable M.data. Hotpot will continue to work indefinately.... until I leave the WiFi connection. Then the Sprint M.data connects and tells me i am not subscribed to Hotspot service. If I am not in a WiFi area when I re-enable M.data, then it instantly goes to the hotspot subscription error.
EDIT: I just reconnected my phone to check settings in adb. The settings were reset to defaults:
tether_dun_required is '1'
tether_dun_apm is 'null'
If you turn on tethering while connected to wifi, you're not really tethering. You're just sharing the WiFi connection.

I could not share the WiFi connection before I added dun to the APNs.
The real problem appears to be that the ADB settings edits are being reset somehow.
not working with Android 9 (PIE) update
Has any been able to figure out how to open the com.test.LTEfunctionality on Android Pie
I was able to edit the apn before using Quick Shortcut maker but now the com.test.LTEfunctionality cannot be opened.
Any update?
has anybody informed the developer of the app that it needs to be updated for PIE?
