Rom Manager Error/CM6 - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am a newb, rooted a couple of days ago from stock 2.2. Rooted with Amon-Ra, and with Rom Manager flashed to ClockWorks. Been trying to get MetaMorph to work, but no success. Figured it might be something with not having CM6. Been trying to get it through Rom Manager, but that gives me an error from the get go. I've noticed some say you need to Unlock NAND, but I've done a NAND backup (not sure if thats the same thing). Help plz

Nandroid Fail to restore Boot.img

Im Rooted thx to the great instructions posted by Regaw (Thx). One issue that I am having seems to be my Nandroid, before I install my first custom Rom I use Nandroid to back up my stock rooted 2.2, So today I wanted to see what was exactly the 2 saved back ups was (I had forgotten which was which). So i went to restore Via Nandroid and I get the "Error while Loading boot Image" as it begins to restore, funny thing is I can restore everything seperately except the BOOT.IMG. Plus I can restore my CM6 just fine with no issues. Only thing I can think of me doing since my stock rooted 2.2 was install/flash end bootloader to get my CM6 to install. Any suggestions would be sweet thx everyone.
Wats yur hboot ver?
My Hboot Version is 0.79
0.79.0000. That's wat seems to load with the directions. Download simpleroot and run nand unlock. For some reason that will bring u back to stock 2.1 but try to back up then it worked for me. When I tried to run Cm6 rc2 it always gave me an error cuz I was on .79 but then ran simpleroot and got .76 and haven't had a prob since...other than SERIOUS batt drain
I Think I needed to be on 0.79 to install CM6 before, 0.79 it would not install I think I was running 0.76. But I do have my CM6 Backed up...Thats what Im running right now.
If you ran the directions regaw posted u should have loaded .79. I would recommend load the nand unlock from toast on simpleroot to get .76 and even loading amon ra recovery
Im sorry I might of already had 0.79 after the root/2.2 install, I was able to install CM6 after someone told me to download end bootloader. then CM6 would flash just fine..Figuring out this Nanunlock still plus I do have the Amon recovery too.
I dont think simple root is working for me, I phone is sitting at the bootloader screen it says go into bootload and it should take a few minutes and press up for yes, But I dont have any files or zip files to update, while atleast I dont see them on the screen.

[Q] Flashing custom recovery

ok so i've rooted my phone and i'm running leedroid. i have the clockwork recovery installed and have been running this rom for a few months now. I want to flash the amonra revocery as i believe it lets you format an ext3 partition where as clockwork only allows ext2. But i cant figure out how to flash it. people have said use unrevoked again to re-root your phone and just choose a custom recovery, but it wont successfully complete the root again a second time even if i DONT use my custom recovery image....any ideas? how can i do this?
I wanted to do the same thing. I simply re-rooted my phone with unrevoked !

[Q] Rooted... but fussy clockwork backup

ok so I rooted my g2/vision/whatever you wanna call it.
Went a little rocky on the root, for some reason after the first perma root reboot, I was unrooted. Rebooted again and now have perma root for realz! and my bff becky was lyk omgz.
Ok now serious business time.
I installed clockwork rom manager (2.5.1.2) so I can make a backup before I go do some fun stuff, but here's my issue, everytime I try to reboot into recovery, I get the default recovery screen. When I try to do a backup, I get the default recovery screen. It does nothing but show an icon of my device with the "!" on it.
I've dealt with the clockwork recovery on my g1 before but it always worked no problemo. Dunno if something went wrong or I'm being a noob deluxe. Any input to aid in my troubles is much appreciated.
Just gonna throw this out did u flash recovery after installing Rom manager ?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
i used the option in clockwork rom manager to flash it. Says current recovery is 2.5.1.2. Latest recovery is 2.5.1.2.
Might as well try it again. I haven't tried the manual method yet though.
EDIT : ROFL, I tried it again just now and I'm looking at the clockwork recovery console. Wow... my phone requires me to do everything twice apparently...
Thanks for the speedy response though T.C.P
New question, how do I get this thread deleted/closed?
Don't worry, I had to do the exact same thing you did.
Root twice.
Flash Clockwork twice.
I believe it's a known issue.
At least that's all we had to do!
kind of a weird issue to have really... wonder how that might affect some mods down the line
please remember, the nand backup could be buggy or corrupted sometimes, backup and restore if you need to, just so you could check if the backup is working
Edit : Nevermind ....

I doubt *flashing* clockwork would cause force closes. But you can always revert back to 2.5.0.1 or AmonRa and restore a backup. Check the "Legacy" area of ROM Manager.
I also had this problem as ROM manager kept informing me that a new version of clockwork mod was available. after "updgrading" I couldn't flash any new ROMs and got a truncated message that during the process that 3.0 series clockwork mod needed to have some files deleted due to changes with Gingerbread and something about google.... (sorry about the lack of good definition on this, but the text was truncated and I was freaking out at the time since I started getting stuck at the white HTC boot screen.) Eventually I was able to perform a recovery and finally flash back to clockwork 2.5 and everything is OK now.
Strangely, after doing this ROM Manager indicated that 2.5 CW was the current version... However, after a few hours I started getting the message to "upgrade" to 3.0 again. I'll just ignore that for now.
Does anyone know why 3.0 is not working for everyone?
I got this also, but i wasnt using CM...i was on a sense mod and was able to restore a different rom and went to the new amon-RA instead.
Maybe its something with CM specifically
It has to do with the scripts used in the update.zips. Most people are still using the olds version used in 1.5... Net said that he had to change it to the new scripts used in gingerbread which makes it not work with any updates or backups made prior. There is a topic on it in here where he explains it. He says to flash the 2.5 if it's not letting you update something.

They put up a new version of Clockworkmod recovery 2.6.0.1. This will work for all that had problems with the 3.0.XXX versions of the recovery. All the goodies of the 3.0XXX but with amend support so it will work with all roms.
All I can say is that Amon has never let me down. May want to check it out if you haven't already. Even their recent update was smooth as silk. No problems for me.
I had this happen to me too with a flash resulting in the white evo screen loop. I was able to flash to the amon ra 1.8 but I couldn't flash anything. So I upgarded to the new version of RA but am still not able to flash anything. I go into the white evo screen loop and then I have to pull the battery and nand a restore. Not sure what I need to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problem with root

Alright so a while back I used unrevoked on my wifes incredible and it worked just fine. she updated it recently so today I went to reroot and prep to install a new rom. Problem is it failed to get root with the newest unrevoked. Ti backup fails to get root yet mybackup gets it and so does rom manager. I'm trying to get into clockwork through the hboot menu. Maybe I'm doing something wrong by going through there..i tried to backup with cwm through rom manager and it worked (didn't till i flashed the latest recovery but still) but I'd still like to get into cwm for myself not rely on rom manager. I've yet to try to reboot into recovery that way or restore the backup I made as I am at work but regardless..any ideas? I know when things are being ridiculous with the fascinate I can just odin and go from there..is there something along those lines for the dinc? If not what should I do to root the thing..get clockwork again..and flash the new rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.
Thanks!

Your best bet is starting from scratch. Unrooting, rerooting, flashing cwm. Etc.

I can get to HBOOT but from there all i can do is reboot or fast boot, I havent done the factory reset yet but i intend to try. But from hboot I want to get into cwm, or do i get into cwm recovery a different way?
Mind you I havent tried to get into it since flashing the newest cwm through rom manager (or that I remember trying or not..been a hectic past week..im losing my damn mind, grandmother passed away in Anaheim, etc, etc)
also im going to reroot and do a completely different rom, it is stock minus wonky root and launcher pro. I finally convinced the wife to let me modify it.
Ifu don't see recovery option in any hboot option. Like there's no clockwork u should by able to flash clockwork and then a Rom.ican pm you.but if unroot is your objective goto Android dev stickies there's a thread.

thats the thing, I see the recovery option, but everytime I select it, it tried to find a multitude of images, says file doesnt exist on all of them (4 or 5 of them I believe) and sends me back to the main hboot screen.
Suppose that information would have been useful. Again, hectic week lol
use say u have rom manager?
yes, im wondering if I need a stock recovery image since it isnt finding the PBwhaterver.img Any idea where I can get that?
Also probably helpful, I had used unrevoked forever a while back. Im thinking I need to undo those changes and just retry everything.
Thoughts?
Edit: Downloaded a new clockwork recovery image from unrevoked forever wiki, gonna throw it on the SD card and see what happens. HOPEFULLY that will let me into cwr, if not, how do I just put everything back to stock so I can start over?
try that file. get rid of the mlti part should sayPB31IMG. also make sure no other files of the same name are on root of sd.should say update vol up yes wait reboot no see ifu got recovery got newr versions too. also new urevoked have versions without clockwork u prolly used tht one. easy fix tho
alright, gonna give it a shot when I get home in the morning. Wish me luck.
Alright flashing with rom manager and selecting reboot into recovery from there worked just fine. we are in business for now anyways lol.
