Sounds like crap to me. They don't even mention the name of it. Would seriously avoid it.
I use, CoPilot 8.2 on my Desire, running Froyo 2.2. Works 100% and worth every penny. Offline maps too.

+1 to Copilot (I believe it's the best looking one).
ok i took a punt & bought the top one.
its licensed by garmin & through the activation process you need to email with your MAP CODE , PHONE MAKE/MODEL , EBAY USER ID & SETUP CODE to get a final activation.
see how it goes
As far as I'm aware, Garmin don't sell their software for Android.
They have it, they just only sell it with their Nuvifone.
Chances are you've just bought some warez.

You're correct - they don't sell software for Android. I don't think he has bought a legit piece of software.
Why do people ask for advice, then not take it?
how does a version of software work on android, s60 and WM?
I hope for his sake he used paypal so he can get the money back supereasy.

Well, he would've had to download the Android version.
Copilot runs on Wimo and S60, too and iPhone. But you have to select your device first for the right version of the phone.
I do still think he got ripped off though.

Hi P3300 owners,
After having my P3300 for about 7 months i'm still satisfied, it's more compact than my previous Eten G500 and is exactly the size of a phone.
I use it mainly as a phone, to take quick notes, calculator, gps. First I planned to use it as mp3 player also, but not too much at a time, to save some battery
I saw there is a P3350 allready with added 3G function, but don't need it for the moment. Glad to see this summer WM6 Crossbow will be available for our device (after it wasn't the case firstly) but our P3300 is award-winning, so it deserves the 'vista' for our pocketpc
Now i'd like to discuss some thoughts about new software / hardware :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. ROM
I still have the orginal rom 1.12.0.0 and GSM 02.67.90
is it worth upgrading, what is the best rom at the moment + advantages ?
In past I upgraded roms for my xda2i but now i don't seem to bother
2. GPS
I work with tomtom, satisfied, but could be better.
Free TMC instead of paid tomtom plus gprs services + more maps (Greece,Turkey,Thailand) for travelling is what i want.
I tested route 66 & destinator 6 in past but still looking...
Tried to install IGO 2006 and ViaMichelin but both said 'not a valid win 32 application'. I guess it's because I work with Vista 64, but same error on pc of collegue (XP 32bit).
The new Igo8 looks great in 3D : http://www.i-go.com/en/news/index.php?aid=110
What is your favorite GPS program? Your TMC works fine over radio without issues?
4. FREE GPS PROGRAMS
I guess this won't be as nice like paid programs.
Do you know any free gps tools with maps for travelling countries like greece, turkey, thailand for example ? Tried googlemaps and some other but did't get any images.
5. UNMISSABLE SOFTWARE
What are your favorite toolz at the moment ?
For me it's :
- SPB Pocketplus & SPB Backup
- Hitchhiker (still the old 2006 beta, no updates comming
- SkypeLowCpuBeta (free calls when travelling)
In past i tried mobimate world (nice for flight hours updating), Weatherstuff, and RSS News feeds.
6. EXTRA HARDWARE / ACCESSORIES
Checked Ebay for some very cheap usefull accessoires and I found :
- A silicone case + screen protectors
- A Motorola H300 bluetooth headset with 30 hours talktime + 30 days standby due to 1 AAA battery, that's a lot without recharging
- A dual sim adaptor (have 2 simcards, one with free sms after 16hrs+weekend, the other free talktime after 16hrs+weekend talk is cheap
So if you have tips / remarks on these topics, share your thoughts!
Ciao!
Innovator
1. ROM
I have the same ROM. It s stable though so no upgrade needed (unless crossbow of course)
2. GPS
I use MioMap. I had the problem of 'not a valid win 32 application' when running the setup.exe from my pc... then, as suprising as it is, i understood that in fact i had to run the setup.exe from the PPC ! Maybe you should try that too...
3. ???
no 3
4. FREE GPS SOFTWARE
hmm nope i don't have any free one
5. UNMISSABLE SOFTWARES
- SPb Diary
-Spb Mobile Shell
-Citytime (as usefull as worldmate, but lighter and faster.
-Spb Brain Evolution (when i'm bored, it s good to train the brain
-Resco Explorer 2006 (it's a MUST. Comes with Resco Registry)
-MioMap 3.2 - GPS software, imho better than tomtom route66 or any other soft. Not sure what are the exact difference between IGo and MioMap, i just know they are almost identical and same manufacturer, but MioMap is stable on my p3300, Igo wasn't...
- PocketStars : If you like watching stars and want to have all the details of what u r looking at... it's the best. (includes gps function to give your exact realtime sky chart at your position!).
-Metro : all bus & metro of thousands of cities in your p3300 good for travellers.
- SKTools : to optimize the P3300 (free back the ram, deletes invalid notifications queues, etc...).
6. EXTRA HARDWARE / ACCESSORIES
no idea yet, just got my HTC for 2 weeks now, but that dual card sim holder u talk about interest me...
--------------------------------------------------------
5. UNMISSABLE SOFTWARE
What are your favorite toolz at the moment ?

Hi, glad to hear that u are satisfied with the P3300. I would like to ask you about skype. I use also the low cpu version (which hasn't been updated for some time now). The problem is that audio is terrible, i can't hear anything useful only a low pitch sound (although sometimes and for a second or two the voice is ok). Text chatting works very well. I believe that maybe is the slow CPU of the P3300 (and there was no improvement with Overclocking)
Have you noticed similar issues while using skype for voice calls?
Thx

There is no way that TMC will ever be possible on the Artemis, for free that is. Yes, I know that some users disagree, after all, when the radio can handle RDS, why cannot it handle TMC?
According to HTC however it is just not possible and I think they should know best.
Having said that, I do think TMC is not that great. It isn't where I live anyway, with lots of delays. TMC will inform me that there is a traffic jam on the A28, as if I didn't know allready, looking at the 300+ cars in front of me.
Thanks for the heads up on Igo 8, that looks pretty cool. Wonder how well it actually functions in practice. Anyone know if it's released to the public yet?

Not much connection to WM6 on the Hermes here, but gotta give props where they are due. This dictionary rocks. I have been using Mike Johnson's superb mjdict for years and this has the options his lacks. Highly recommended.

downloaded an installed on a 8525
kind of slow, I have had problems with this build before with battery life and overall stabilty.
like you said you tested it on a dopod so maybe there is some hardware incompatabilities.
sorry but right after flash flashed right back to schaps 4.22. Maybe you need to spend more time tweaking to accommodate for user with other devices

Really? What did you use to test this? The hardware between the 8525 and Dopod 838 Pro is identical except the keyboard layout (tytn vs 8525). I used to run schaps ROM on my dopod for quite a while, and I didn't notice any speed difference at all.
EDIT: I've just been thinking - it's probably due to the setting in X-Button to close applications when you press the X - this keeps the most memory free at all times - but can slow down performance - as each application has to start from scratch each time you launch it.. To change this, click on the X-Button icon at the top right, then press the configure 'spanner', tap on the "Button" tab and select the option "End programs by tapping and holding X". This will speed up switching between applications after you've already launched them once.
No problems here
I though I'd give it a try. Even though I can't use the video portion of the 3G dialer - it has everything else I typically use in my personal build.
Nice job!

Thanks Matt, although most of the credit should go to you for the kitchen I looked at all the applications and functionality that "most people" would use in a general day-to-day usage of the device and tried to cut something that would save people a lot of time learning how to use kitchens etc just to update. Some of the features that people might want to swap and change I've tried to keep in the extended ROM so that they can be uninstalled separately if the user wants to...
The development will probably track the updates of your kitchen and have a few tweak/updates inbetween depending on what happens (application updates etc).
edit: Oh, and did you like the default ringtone? It can also be deleted as it's in \My Documents\My Ringtones if you want to free up more space or use something else.
Just rolled & uploaded Release 2 of my ROM. This adds Bluetooth Voice Dialing support using Cyberon Voice Commander.

Hi CRC, I think more people will use this ROM if you post some screenshots. Thanks.

Yeah - I've been meaning to do these for the past couple of days but got side-tracked with fixes... I'll whip something up now...
Ok, I've fixed the ClearVue PDF issue and corrected the X-Button configuration that was making things look really slow (when really it was a misconfiguration!). Release 3 should be fully functioning and FAST!
I have added benchmark of this ROM to my benchmark thread. You can check the results here.

Thanks KarhU... It's interesting that although it didn't get top marks in everything, there is less than 1% across the board different between the top scorers and this ROM. Some of them we missed out on by 0.1fps!
It was kind of expected as I have it running background processes etc for voice dialing etc - which will take up some resources - however it was nowhere near the difference that I was expecting...

Current benchmarking apps have their limits. I am well aware that actual differences between ROMs are in magnitude of single units of percents. Problem is that all currently available benchmarking apps are aimed to test different devices, not different ROMs on the same device. Factors like GUI responsiveness although important from end user point of view are omitted completely. I started thread in Development and Hacking forum to find a developer who would address this problem, but except from one vague reply it has no progress...
Release 4 has just been sent to the mirrors.
Changes to this version include:
Mapped button 5 press to voice dial.
Added voice dialling to Appbuttons.
Added fix for scrolling slowness in Pocket IE.
Changed keyboard skin to match theme.
Unbundled OS ROM from Radio ROM due to popular request. You can now choose your own radio version.
Can you tell me how you fixed the "slow camera fix"? I've been looking for this since I've had my Hermes. Thanks in advance.

The fix is registry based. The registry entry is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Captparam]
"DelayTime"=dword:00000001
I tried changing that value, it seems like the same. It's a small time difference. I took a picture of a car @30mph and with both settings it seems about a car length off. with shutter sound off, it's about a 1/2 car length. I changed the value in both binary & hex to 1. In these settings. Thanks for the help
Chris
First off I would like to say great ROM. It feels nice and peppy and doesn't have a bunch of things that I don't need. With that being said I do have one problem. Ever since I flashed to this firmware I cannot get my phone and the pc to sync back up. Its as if the computer doesn't even see a device connected to it. Is there someway to fix this?

I would say this has something to do with the PC. I've had this happen to me on random occasions with multiple ROMs. Try soft resetting the phone, then reboot your computer. Try changing the USB port your cable is hooked up to.
It's annoying when it does happen, but it isn't related to the ROM.
TechrificWay GPS Navigation - IGo with 3D landmarks and terrain for Australia & NZ
Mods if this is considered as advertisement, my apologies and please del post.
Hi guys,
Just thought I share this great new product. I had been a little disappointed with Igo for not providing 3D landmarks and terrain with their Australia maps, us Aussie users can now enjoy this great feature with: TechrificWay GPS http://www.techrific.com.au/techrif...ew-zealand-powered-by-igo-my-way-8-p-492.html Navigation.
according to their website quote:
"TechrificWay is the only GPS Navigation Software that supports Real 3D Landmark, Terrain and Elevation in Australia and New Zealand (High rise buildings, Petrol Station, etc.)".
It is powered by iGO My Way 8 engine and supports text to speech.
The package contains:
2 gig micro SD card with adapter
TechrificWay software with iGo My Way 8 engine
Australia and NZ maps powered by NAVTEQ Q3 2008
30 language support with 50 voices
I think $209 is reasonable, although I have not yet tried this. Has anyone tried? What you think?
Techrific Way iGO 8 running on my Topaz
I have this installed and running. I wanted maps for NZ and Aus and iGO 8 is great software so this was good for me.
As far as Techrific go I was a little worried because they were small so I checked them out. Nav N Go (who make iGO 8) e-mailed me that the software was legitimate (and legal licence) but the Techrific version was not yet supported by their update tool (so no upgrades of map purchases from then available yet).
I received no conformation notification after I ordered from Techrific but software arrived to me within 24 hours!
Maps are kinda pricey from Nav N Go site so AU$209 is ok for software + NZ and Aus maps (and potential future upgrade support). I don't but many toys so I can justify
The Topaz is not listed on the Nav N Go site as being supported but it worked 1st time. Channel 4 and away I went. You get the SD card (with micro SD) and a CD with just the manual on it. The manual is the same as from the Nav N Go site but just with the title page changed.
The splash startup screen is also changed to be Techrific but other than that it is just iGO 8 with NZ and Aus maps.
Incidentally the pronunciation of street names works really well. Australian voices are included but you can only use street pronunciation with English or American voices. I use English female which is good
The Topaz has lots of RAM and so this feature is good for me.
Many street names are on the map but not available in the search. If at home I use Google map then put in coordinates but many options are available. So far every address I can navigate to and no bad directions apart from where I know that traffic is bad. Actually found a couple of better ways. So Aus map is good.
I have not used the POIs much but having land marks in 3d is kinda handy.
I previously used Mapking and iGO 8 has many more features. The iGO version has more features then iGO Amigo if your phone has enough RAM. If on 64MB RAM then maybe look at Amigo.
I am sure I can find out on this site how to pipe my FM radio on my phone into traffic suggestions so that is next.
I own one as well (TechrificWay). I posted my review some months ago here: http://www.michaelaulia.com/blogs/igo-myway-8techrific-way-review.html
I wish that they can get the update tool pretty soon. I love my software to be always up to date!
I am thinking about scrapping this. I am getting little to no feedback for this app and i really don't know if this is compatible with other devices except my own (an HTC Diamond ).
Description: This is a Beta application and it's my first. It's a full functional port of the java ebook reader available for download at wattpad.com.
I have tested it on my HTC Diamond and it seams to work well doh, i expect a lot of bugs from other devices ( didn't plan to release it ).
NETCF 3.5 is required!
Features:
*Finger Friendly

Just tried using it. Quite Good. But better if there is a landscape mode. (WM 6.0 HP ipaq 212)
I wish this would be wvga soon

I'm a fan of ebook reader on my Omnia, so I did installed your app but was very disappointed when saw is for vga only.

This is just a book downloader. It uses Office Mobile or other custom reader to show the books. The downloaded books are .txt at base.

I will try. My device is VGA and the emulator doesn't work on Windows 7. I will try to think of a way.
Good work so far. Can anyone suggest a nice fingerfriendly reader to open the .ebk files? Pocket word does not finger scroll, which makes reading that way a bit tedious.
can i rename the file type and use it in adobe pdf or something?
Good news
Good news people:
1.This is out of beta.
2.The people at wattpad.com want to help with this app.

Hello People
I am thinking about scrapping this. I am getting little to no feedback for this app and i really don't know if this is compatible with other devices except my own (an HTC Diamond ).
Am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks,
Alex
gonna try it now - there is a strong need for a prog like this - if you could skin it to match tf3d then you'd have a real winner + kinetic scroll! - what about the file compatibility options?
I wouldn't mind testing this and providing feedback. However, I don't have a vga device. I own a HTC TyTN II.
I have Xperia X1 I'll try this app out.... already using quite a cool app called Vade Mecum to read .pdb files. Got a desktop app that turns web pages into .pdb - useful for project gutenburg and so on. As you can see there's been no work on that for a few years now.
The Xperia is WVGA of course, so we'll see how it goes.
Just mentioning some of the features Vade Mecum has that I like: assign quadrants of the screen to pull down menu, page up, page down etc. Like invisible buttons.
That's kind of it really I guess lol.
Can I run it on QVGA device?
QVGA plz...
just for your interest...
i tested it on a blackstone with energyrom wm6.5 and installed it on device.
the first page where you listed the books doesn't load fullscreen, but the settings window works just fine. I don't know how to make a screenshot so if you pm me how to do that I will send you the screen.
I can change language but the icon says "gr" when I select "Dutch".
How can I go to " online mode" ? My data connection is online but i still get the message "can't search, offline modus"..
