Hi all.
Just downloaded the new HTC Sync app from HTC. Has anyone found a way to auto sync at regular intervals? It only seems to offer manual sync.
Thanks.

Yes, you can auto sync; however, I'm not sure if all HTC Sync programs work the same. I'm using v3.0.5422, which works great.
The simplest way to auto sync is to connect your phone. If all goes according to plan, you will get the sync screen asking the connection type. For example, Charge Only, HTC Sync, Disk Drive, and Internet Sharing. If you click on HTC Sync, and then check the box "Don't ask again", it will remember to use HTC Sync every time you connect your phone via USB. However, it will sync automatically ONLY the first time. If you stay connected, you have to manually sync thereafter. If you then disconnect and reconnect, it will automatically sync again.
There is no way that I know of to perform automatic scheduled syncing.

Just set up your phone to sync with google (mail, contacts, calendar) and enable automatic sync within settings.
In regards to media, I can't help you.

Thanks but I think I saw my answer - there's no ongoing auto sync against the HTC Sync desktop software. Seems like an odd omission unless the new htcsense.com offers something similar.

Which in your opinion is the best Exchange sync app on Android - Touchdown, HTC Mail or K9? HTC Mail is Ok but appears limited, Touchdown seems really good, push and GAL work really well, but is it worth $20??? Haven't used K9 so can't comment.
So - which have you found to be the best Exchange Sync App?
I'm using HTC mail and I would say that there are a few issues with it. to begin with, it doesn't seem to pick up entries you type directly into your own exchange outlook. in addition to this I don't really like the way it can't remain synchronized when its out of signal. eg when I'm on the underground on my way to work in the morning and I type an email. I can't just hit send knowing that it will 'push' once I'm in signal again. it forces me to save as a draft. this is actually a pain in the neck.

Try touchdown (it will be called exchange for Android 2.0/2.1) - works a lot better than stock - you just gotta see if it is worth $20 to you...

I currently use HTC Sync to sync bookmarks and music to my DHD and to sync the gallery to my PC. It's really crap though. It's the bookmarks bit that's mostly crap - the other two seem fine most of the time. Is there some other software that does the same thing (i.e. all-in-one sync software) but is more reliable?
All my searches come up with things that sync specific things - ideally I'd like something that will do everything.
I have a strange problem with the HTC sync software, when I run it, most of the groups/types are blanked out (music, pictures etc) any idea why that is?

You wont find any other software to do this I don't think. But if you use Firefox on PC and dhd they will sync bookmarks.

I use Chrome - I suppose I could try one of the Chrome bookmark syncing apps. Just not ideal to have separate programs for each sync.
Cheers anyway.
So, I have Leedroid 3.3.3 R5 port and loving it so far.
Only problem is with autosync - It seems to be working more or less alright, it's just that sometimes the logo of the autosync will appear in the notification bar, and when I go into Settings>Accounts and Sync, it shows me the option to cancel syncing, even though it doesn't really appear to be acively syncing at the time.
What could be the issue here..?
Thanks
Bump.. anyone?

I've tried turning off htc hub sync, don't know if it will help.. any other suggestions?

First try and see what tries to sync at that time. You do it by clicking for example your gmail account. There you have that icon next to the component that is trying to sync.
Well, apparently it seems that whenever the phone initiates a sync, the logo comes on, and when I go into Accounts & Sync, it gives the option to Cancel Sync, but when I go into each account, it says Sync Now, as if they've finished syncing, or haven't synced at all..
WTF

I have same Rom no problems here ...
try looking for animated sync icon in Settings>Accounts and Sync to find out whats syncing.. Other thing you can do is to delete accounts and add them again... might solve the problem.
I am using Insertcoin 1.1.1. which also has this problem.. When I go to Settings -> accounts and Sync, nothing is synching but still I see the sync icon in the notification bar.. Only if I select cancel sync then it goes off..
Sorry if this has been asked somewhere, I have been around for couple of days but couldn't find any answers...
My problem is I noticed that I still receive pushed office emails (Office365 Exchange Online) even though I have turned off auto sync at settings/accounts & sync. I even received new email from my hotmail app.
Isn't turning off auto sync for all accounts will stop email accounts to check emails automatically? I turned off auto sync when battery is low, but now I started to think if is useful at all.
I just recently manually updated to 4.0.4, stock rooted.
Can anyone help me please?

Try checking the in-app settings.

Thanks for the suggestion, but doesn't turning auto sync off will override the in-app settings?

Not all applications are compatible (altough I would expect that Exchange implementation would be) to this... One example is Friendcaster, even if you turn off auto sync, it will keep getting updates (at least if it is configured to grab those updates through push, which is the configuration I use)...
Everytime I go onto the web browser it tries to sign into facebook. How can I stop this as it is getting increasingly annoying. I deleted saved passwords but no joy
Thanks in advance

afaik its using the facebook account in accounts and sync in settings
i don't think it can be disabled, aside from signing out of the facebook account
Remove permission for HTC sense from facebook might work.
It only does this on my phone when going to facebook or clicking a link on fb you can just hit back to cancel it.

Hello, try to disable the app "Facebook for HTC sense" in application parameters.
( Force close and disable ).
And then install the facebook app ( not the HTC app ... ).
I've done that. Maybe it disables some contacts/features too,
but i have no problems with "facebook for HTC sense" disabled.
Everything linked to facebook seems to work fine ...
Try'n'see
I also have this issue wouldn't mind if it was quicker but it lags i removed all and anything related to htc for Facebook but to no avail, so when that pop up appears i just hit back and it goes away
