Has anyone tried this 02 Froyo RUU file ?

Full details are here

Just wondering if anyone has tried it.. Tempted, but would like to know it works before I give it a go !!
No one tried this ?
Does anyone have any more details of this yet?
I'm quite interested in it, as I've held off rooting my desire until something like this is available so that I can get it back to stock for warranty reasons if necessary.
If someone does try it, could you let us know the HBOOT version etc?
Looks like someone used it on the other forum.. seems to have worked OK !
Following the advise on the other forum...
I've installed the stock 2.2
Seems to have gone well
Currently using my main 8gb SD as my goldcard and mem card.
About to make a backup 4gb goldcard..
Only thing I can't get to work properly is Laputa Ebook Reader.
Books are there but don't appear on My Shelf..
I'll have a play !!
HBOOT version?
Also anyone tried unrevoked with this?

If it's stock 2.2, unrevoked won't work since it's got HBOOT 0.92. I'm running that same build, but like chippieuk I haven't downgraded my HBOOT yet for fear of not getting back when something goes wrong or I need my waranty.
shipped-roms.com is asking for a password, anyone have any idea what it is?
or if anyone has a copy, please host it for us somewhere for our flashing pleasure
Withdrawn O2 UK Stock Froyo RUU
I made the mistake of downgrading my Desire SLCD after I had used a clockworkmod ROM and I lost my display. This seems very common, based on the posts on this forum. However I downloaded a copy of the withdrawn stock Froyo RUU and thought I would have nothing to lose if I tried to flash my desire. Well I tried it on Monday and I was over the moon when I found my Desire was back to normal operation.
I have been using the new Froyo on my O2 Ireland phone for a week now and I haven't experienced any negatives. The phone is running a dream in every way and seems faster than the original 2.1 ROM that was initially supplied. I can only guess that the problems experienced by the initial users was related to an upgrade rather than a complete new flash.
The link I used for the O2 UK Froyo RUU is here:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe
I hope this fixes any similar problems for users of the SLCD Desire, good luck
wooo
I just registered to show my thanks to sysconp1, that RUU worked a treat had the bricked slcd used that link and all is well, stock o2UK froyo Thanks again buddy and merry crimbo and a happy new year to all =]

hi everyone
right
just bought desire unlocked from telstra shop and i need to debrand
i try so many ways no luck
is any simple way for newbe?
i'm happy to buy a goldcard from one of you guys if this is the problem
please help me
regards
Follow this instruction to root and flash custom roms:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...e-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/
In the beginning of that process you need to make a gold card, instruction can be found here
http://android.modaco.com/content/general-discussion/305672/creating-a-goldcard/
After everything is done, you should be able to flash whatever (compatible) rom you want. My recommendation is this
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...ustom-rom-for-htc-desire-with-online-kitchen/
I've done everything above on my Telstra branded Desire w/o any problem. So if you follow every step in the guides, it should go fine.
hi
thank you for your reply and help i try that and give me
FAILED (remote:41 model id check fail)
i not sure what else i can do
are you far from perth?
Me as well i get that same error i did upgrade when i 1st got the device not knowing about rooting! maybe the software i have in my sign. might be the issue... i was think about jumping ship to nexus one and go 2.2 on that device instead.. jump ship or wait it out?
What is the HBOOT version and software version on your Telstra branded desire? Did you use download the correct files for your version of the Desire?
I did get a failure message the first time I did it (don't remember the details of message), but it has to do with my gold card. In the end I realized that I should be using my Desire as a card reader when copying the gold card image onto the SD card, and after doing it again with an independent card reader everything worked fine.
H-boot 0.75.000
the software ver. is in my signature... i have tried doing the gold card multiple times and also using card reader 2 different types on 2 differ computers.. i am gonna wait for the 2.2 OTA hopefully or maybe jump ship on desire..
same here
H-boot 75
i done two gold card which i think (done ok) not sure if we can test in anyway
i really need to change this telstra rom
what else i can try??
Will be considering doing same in future..
Anyone done a debranding to the telstra rom successfully as yet..
when is the 2.2 out will it be available to users threw telstra etc?
yes when is it comin for telstra? i am about ready to jump ship to nexus one.. desire is nice but have to draw the line with branding crap... HURRY!
I have no idea why the rooting process didn't work for you guys. My Telstra branded Desire came with 0.75 HBoot and 1.16 software, same as mofoliar's. I didn't have any problem rooting it following the guide, beside the gold card creation part, so I can say confidently that the root and debranding procedure I posted above does work.
You guys would be better off looking for help at the corresponding threads at modaco forum than whining about it here, as people who have more technical knowledge behind these procedures probably won't be looking at this thread.
Two thing I remember reading before I root my Desire:
1) Some people say that the above procedure may have problem on some machines with 64 bit Windows. But it worked perfectly fine on my desktop with Windows 7 64bit.
2) Not every SD card can be converted into a gold card. Mine is a Transend class 6 16GB microSDHC, if that helps.
If you don't need root, you can just flash your phone in RUU way. But a goldcard is still needed.

and I'm sick of people asking questions without reading.
Go read carefully everything I posted here and what was said in the link I posted. You can find the answer to every question you asked very easily just by reading those posts again.
Given that you can't even read part of the instruction regarding the software version correctly, I'm not surprised that it didn't for for you.
this is my error

I was wondering what rom version you were on simply because these T branded desires come with .75 and 1.16x versions. But thanks for the no help at all.
I bought desire and it came rooted with LeeDroid v1.9 .. meaning it already had the 2.2 update installed.
My problem? I want to reflash it to stock rom, the 2.1 eclair. How should i go about without demaging my phone? Dont ask me why I want to do that.
PS: This is my first android phone. Any help and pointers in this regard would be appreciated.
Do you know whether it was a branded phone before being rooted/flashed?
You don't want to go to 2.1, get the stock 2.2 and flash that

i dont know if it was branded or not. where to get the stock 2.2 ? and how to flash?
i am an android newbie, so all this flashing and rooting is french too me
sorry for being naive.
In terms of getting the ROM, click on the version number on my signature (if it asks for a username/password both are shipped - there's also the chance the link is down. If it is, try again later). That is the full ROM.
To flash the ROM, connect your Desire to your PC and make sure you're connected in HTC Sync. Then just run the RUU file! If your phone was previously branded the CID check wil fail and the update won't complete. No biggie, it just means you have to make a gold card to flash it - search 'make gold card desire' on here and you should find a decent guide (I'd say use THIS one)
If it does complete, then you have a genuine unbranded Desire and you can enjoy the 2.2 goodness!!
thanks .. will report back if the need may arise
tnx ... everything worked like a charm
No gold card needed? Nice!
Enjoy your phone
naaa .. no gold card needed .
saved me a lot of trouble.
Hi All,
long time reader, 1st time poster,
i have switched from the nexus to the desire, and i have seen lots and lots of diffrent roms for the desire, so i was wondering if i may ask your assistance in locating the best one?
which rom most people prefer ?
what advantages does X rom have over X rom ?
i currently have a desire running 2.2 froyo if there is anyone else switching which could suggest a good switch ?
Hi,
I'm fairly new to this whole rooting business myself and certainly not an expert on advising which is is the 'best'. A lot would depend on your needs and preferences. For my use, however, I found the ROM at :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
to be very stable and to my liking. It is virtually the same as an OTA update of Froyo, except it is rooted and has some miner modifications.
Read a lot and try different Roms; I'm sure you'll find one to your liking and needs.
Hi Mag,
Thanks for your advice, it sounds like a nice easy starting mod,
btw how did you root the phone to start with ?
i have tried the current REVOked client but that seems to fail each time.
so i was debating sitting back and waiting for REVOkeds new 3.2.1 client to be released for download.
Here is what I did with my very limited knowlage about rooting:
1. I made my working sd card into a 'gold card'. Not sure if that was necessary or not, but it couldn't hurt.
2. I downgraded from OTA froyo to the 2.1 version.
3. Then rooted my phone using Unrevoked3.
After that I was able to update to any rom using clockworks recovery only.
Everything went very smoothly for me without any hickups.
You can find all the needed details about the individual procedures above, on this great site. Search and you will find .
Hope this is of some help.
Mag
PS.: Unrevoked at, http://unrevoked.com/#inc, is suposedly working on a new version that is able to root Froyo without having to dowgrade to 2.1 first.
Unrevoked's rooting solution is already out for the Desire FYI
Here is the link for it
http://unrevoked.com/
Be advised that they have removed the current version because it had some issues with the Evo 4G but the older 3.2 is still up and flawless for the Desire.
Unrevoked Desire
Sadly I had major driver issues with my current PC and couldnt root my phone as of yet.. but will do it in a couple of days when i get my new PC So I cant provide feedback as of yet... But the Wiki page of Unrevoked has pretty much everything covered up for you
Hope I helped a little
yeah the current version means you need to downgrade to 2.1. but id rather go straight into rooting, than mess about with downgrading 1st.
Hi,
Need an RUU for TMUK SLCD (have checked shippedroms and links on here)...OR...instructions on how to create one as I have just received my repaired Desire and it's 'fresh'. It had a h/w issue and in an attempt to unroot by flashing an RUU I ended up using an AMOLED one. So before rooting again, would like to know there is a specific RUU available to hand should I need it in the future. I got away with the AMOLED one once but can't risk it twice!
Thanks
I've been looking for the same.
Any 2.xxx is a Froyo ROM and therefore should work with SLCD, but the only T-Mobile one I can find is RUU_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_AT_2.12.112.1_Radio_32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2_release_143754_signed.exe which is Austrian.
Can't find the UK version, but seeing as the UK version had some German bloatware shipped, it may work?
Not tried it yet, might try later after creating a gold card....
Sorry I could not be much help! Like I say, looking for the same, so if you solve this please post! Will update thread if/when I experiment with the AT version.
I defo want the UK one before re-rooting, can anyone explain why there isn't one, considering SLCD's have been around since the Summer and 2.2 has been around a few months too?
Made myself a gold card too, am thinking forget it, just rely on using a WWE RUU if the need ever arises but want to wait a while just in case someone comes up with something. I have till June 2012 for this contract so am in no real rush to root (apart from the fact I want to try the HD ROM)!
There isn't a UK one, so don't root it yet, or do so and run the risk of one never leaking

Well if anyone is going to know when it's out first it seems to be you man, so please shout once you see it!
It might be worth going to a T-Mobile shop and see if anyone there seems like they know they're ****. If so, perhaps have a word
I need to root, low on phone storage v annoying, gotta go back to a2sd+.
Anyway, no official tmuk slcd ruu so will use wwe one if I ever need to...hope not now after new mobo and screen! Have made a gold card anyway, the gold card tool is fantastic.
Eddy, what details should i take note of BEFORE rooting? S/W versions etc? I'm sure I rem you stating somewhere that there were certain details people should note but don't then they get into issues later...
Thanks
All you need to know is the Software version, e.g. 2.12.110.4, as all the other info is about the ROM and will come with the RUU (should it ever show up) anyway
Hi, everyone i am new to android hope to get into it a bit though and learn some new stuff
Before i begin i hope i have posted this thread in the right place.
First of all i had a locked htc desire to orange i have now debranded it using the froyo 2.2 generic rom and unlocked it but i cant seem to root it with unrEVOked 3.3.2.
When i run unrEVOked it says "firmware is too new" although i thought it worked with android 2.2 ?
I am currenlty running this rom "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed" and my HBOOT version is 0.93 and i also have the S-LCD screen.
Could anybody try explain why this isnt working for me ?
Thanks.
What version of unrEVOked are you using? I rooted that version with no issues using 3.31
