Armbands - EVO 4G Accessories

Anyone have a good recommendation?

I know, I'm a dirty pimping whore, but, I think if you look at the BH-214 (see sig), you won't need an armband.

I disagree Laygo. I will be using an armband with my BH-214. Here's why: I run. The EVO is too large to be put in my pocket (it will bang on my leg and be irritating). I also hate belt devices. Therefore, I plan on putting the EVO in the arm band, and using the BH-214 to control the EVO. It is too difficult to control it when it's on my arm (stretch my arm over, unlock the phone, find the app, change volume...its a pain).

I bought this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Tune-Belt-Incredible-smartphones-protective/dp/B003ZJGZ8O
I like it. My EVO only has a BestSkinsEver skin on it, so my EVO is basically naked. It fits snuggly in the band - it won't fall it. The band has a clear window, so I can look over and see the screen if I really wanted to.
I can't tell you if it is well-made - I've only had it for a week.

Are you just going to run with the BH-214 in your hand or something?
On the one post in my thread, I showed you can be plugged directly into the EVO with headphones & *STILL* control playback with the BH-214. Seems like you could wear a wrist band with the BH-214 clipped to it, almost like watch.
I dunno, all I know is I'm never running! I don't even run after the ice cream man . . .

HAHA, that is exactly what I was thinkin. If you have this phone, it's doubtful you'll have muscles any larger than it
I know the phone is large. I do a lot of running and I would like to use this as my MP3 player.
i actually got it to fit into my belkin ipod touch 2G arm band...just need to cut a little at the top to make it stretch wide enough to slide in the evo...it will be a snug fit.
My arms ar much bigger than the evo... haha... im just... serious
Google EVO armband and you'll find one. I got one for $4.95 shipping was like $ 6.95 but now I'll have one. I'll give a review once I get it and try for a few days.
Look it up on Ebay. 10 bucks. With free shipping.

Let us know how you like it.
I like using buddy trainer or something like that to track my runs and I'd much prever the EVO on my arm instead of my waist band.
Thanks!

It seems like a good deal. It fits into a neoprene slip that will hold the device tightly for when you are working out plus it has a zippered pocket behind if you want to store say a key, id, or money. It seems like it is of decent quality but not OEM or made for the device specifically. I ordered one for my EVO and one for my wifes blackberry and they looked different online but seem as if they aren't any different but for $4.95 I don't regret the purhcase.

Not much option out there right now, but this one it about 20 buck.
I got a lot of 3 universal ones from shnoop a while back. Look similar to this one except a bigger version I think. I don't have an evo yet, but I've used it with my Sansa e270 and Vogue both squeezed in. It zippers all the way around so nothing is going to fall out, but you don't have quick access to the screen either.
how is it that it works with the ATT HTC Aria as well as the evo...
why oh why...... just.... get like a sansa clip or something, they can be had for like 30 bucks. This reminds me of that british iPad spoof video where the guy is screaming while talking on his iPad in public.

Why do people have such difficulty understanding that not everyone has the same needs and desires as they do? Perhaps these folks want to use GPS program to track their run? Perhaps they are on call and need quick access to their phone? The reason doesn't really matter.

Agreed. I used to run with my Zune but after getting my Evo I've been using Cardio Trainer to track my runs. That being said, I ordered an arm band from Amazon the other day. It looks like it's out of stock now, but it's not bad. It's universal so the buttons aren't the easiest to get to. But, in my opinion I really don't care; it holds it on my arm that's good enough for me.
I stand corrected and apologize.

Maybe you try this one? Slimmer than some of the others ive seen and its designed specifically for the EVO. Ive not seen it in person but it looks ok from the site. Give it a shot, let me know!
Would work awesome with Google My Tracks

um bb, can you post a link or the site? im interested in seeing one specifically designed for the evo, thanks!
i am still looking for one that will fit my arms...and yes i am a bodybuilder geek. the only one i see out there only goes up to 15" arms and i am at 19" maybe keep it on my forearm?

Evo Car mounts...

Im looking for a cheapo mount for my EVO for my patrol truck...... Stumbled across this chinese thing on ebay...
has anyone bought one or tried one?
http://cgi.ebay.com/CAR-CRADLE-HOLDER-MOUNT-HTC-DESIRE-EVO-4G-HD2-HERO-/150609091884?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2311005d2c
It's been my experience that cheap car mounts just suck, whether it's the vibration and makes the phone bounce up and down, or the thing just falling apart.
I went ahead and bought the HTC official car dock for the EVO and I absolutely love it. Keeps the phone perfectly still and automatically launches the car application when inserted. It's pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for.

If you can spare the CD player slot of your car, you might want to consider the CD slot mount from Mountek:
www.mountek.com
It's very inventive and works fine.
I got one each for my girlfriend (who has an EVO 4G), her sister (EVO 4G), and my sister (iPhone 4), and they all love it.
I am using the Scoth Reusable rubber sheet. A small 1x1inch piece holds the phone on the flat surface, and with a bigger "pad" it will provide greater security. Plus its not ugly or complicated, just a piece of adhesive rubber that wont leave any residue on the phone.

I've had the Arkon on Amazon since August with no complaints at all. I thought it might damage the vents with the way it attaches to them but it hasn't bent or twisted them at all yet.
Anyone come across a mount that lets you use the rear camera, for instance drag racing at the track and recording the run?

got it 20% off too at the time, works great but it does cover my radio display up, but i guess that is a sacrifice..
i was looking a while back for a car mount when i had Sirius and i remember running across some mounts that slide into the seams on your dash. Anyone know anything about these? I can't find them and don't remember what they were called. Hell is need be i could probably make one.
I have the siedio one.
Works great, doesn't vibrate and depending how you mount it, you can use your camera.
I love this car mount works for just about anything not just ur evo , i think its up to 5inches so u can use it even with cases and big batterys

I created my own mount using velcro for vibration and a bit of industrial sound dampening foam rubber modified onto a RAM gps mount for my motorcycle. See the vids at youtube/doitlaynstyle

I have a Mountek MT5000, the build feels cheap but it works as advertised. If the ride starts to get rough, expect the phone to jump off the cradle. What I do , is I use the charging cable, loop it on the phone to hold it in place. Ghetto but works.

Just received my Exomount last night. It really works like it shows on the video. I had it mounted on my windshield on the way to work and right now I have it suctioned to my laminate desk at work holding my Evo while I listen to Google Music. I bought mine from one of the sellers on Amazon for about $25 shipped. My coworker saw it this morning and is going to order one as well.
I turned a few corners at moderate speed and went over some pretty big bumps... the thing did not move one bit.
Holy crap I want an Exomount!

My Armband review for our phones :)

Hi guys, I didn't find a review on an armband specific to our phones so I figured I'd pick one up and review it. This armband from eBay isn't specific to our phones, but works great.
It fits nearly perfect, just the speaker hole is in a different area but you still hear it through the material. Build quality and material is actually pretty good and I'm very happy with the purchase. Fitment is great very comfortable. Touchscreen works perfectly If you guys are interested, checkout the video and if you're interested you can click to go to the youtube page where you'll find more information regarding where I picked it up. Hope some of you find this helpful!
For those of you who are interested, I have provided the link to the seller below:

Again, i'm not endorsed or sponsored in anyway. I bought it myself and just wanted to share my experience with you guys.

how is the velcro? does it stay on pretty well? The ones I've owned never really stay on my arm well.
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to start running soon and this is exactly what I need.

In all honesty i'm not quite so sure, it seems to do just fine on my arm but as with all armbands it may eventually begin to slide down your arm due to gravity and movement from running.

finally had a chance to do some more jogging with this and it holds place on my arm quite well, the band is a bit stiffer on my arm but it surprisingly does not slide down my arm at all. Jogged about 4 miles straight and it's doing a great job so far.
I decided to pick one up after seeing the video. It's a pretty decent arm band that seems well constructed. Phone slides in and out pretty easily and it stays pretty secure around my arm during my runs. Unless you have really scrawny arms, you shouldn't have a problem with the fit of the arm band.
Since it's made from neoprene, it's going to get pretty hot and sweaty underneath after a while, especially if you're doing anything aerobic. It's a good idea to take it off after your workout and lay it out to dry off. Probably wouldn't hurt to toss it into the laundry every now and then so it doesn't get too stinky.
The combined weight of the phone and armband isn't too bad, but I find it's noticeable when I'm running. I'm probably going to alternate wearing it on each arm for my runs.
Despite the speaker cut out being on the opposite side, sounds the phone makes are still pretty audible even at half volume

depends how picky you want to be. i bought the LIVEstrong arm band, for i think the iphone, at radio shack and i had to drop an elbow on the phone to get it to go in but after that it's pretty sweet. comfortable, flexible, breathable and a hole for your headphones. that's all i wanted. ya mean?
I tried one for the iphone 4. They are WAY to small. You can get it in there and the hole for earplugs align, but its to hard to get in and out. Not worth it
I just put it in my back pocket, works like a charm. I don't think I've ever run across an arm-band that was big enough to holster this beast.
with more and more giant beastly phones coming out there has to be something! I found a decent sized one that fits my evo but the hole doesnt align for the headphones... its really annoying... i guess i could cut one into the right size...
Best Buy Generic Android Arm Band
I looked online, but didn't fine many options, so I went to local best buy and found a generic HTC Android arm band that has been great. I was roughly $20 and is good quality. I have the extended battery (3500mAH SEDIO) and it works like a charm. Use it when lifting, running, and elliptical and it stays put. Definitely recommend.
I went to wal mart and got a Phillips one, made for the Iphone, but it is sort of a nylon/stretchy type material, my evo fits in it great, plus the holder is thin enough you can "sort of" see through it when screen is on..I set up swype guestures w/ cm7 on the lock screen and can register my "next track" guesture through it...works good enough!
I like this one
I bought this one a while back. Fits like a glove. I tried a similar Nike strap and the EVO didn't fit and the strap was too short to go around my arm. I don't have big arms. I just think the Nike was made for a girl maybe. Anyway, here is the Amazon "link".
Black Durable Neoprene Exercise Sports Workout Armband with Adjustable Velcro Strap for Sprint HTC EVO 4G Android Smartphone
Sorry, first post. Can't post a link, but I copied and pasted this from the title of the item on Amazon.
I'm on my second arm band, and still no luck finding the right one. Anyone know if HTC sold OFFICIAL arm bands for the EVO?
I usually ride with my Camelbak.. there is a pouch in it that fits my phone just fine.. I find these sony earbuds that I got from radio shack has a long enough cord and there is no binding..
Although I have herd of some people using iPhone buds and are able to control functions like Track up or down and volume..
any thoughts?

I searched for an armband for both my Evo and iPhones in the past and found that the better solution for me was a holster case for it that holds it horizontally (landscape) on my hip. It works with shorts, sweatpants, or whatever as long as the waste band is somewhat tight or has a drawstring.

Alternative to an armband?

I mostly row and jog, and I've found the armband makes me unbalanced because of the extra weight on one arm. Have any of y'all found an alternative to this? I would really like to listen to music through my phone, but if I can't find some alternative to an armband, I might just get one of those small clip-on iPod Nanos.
Thinking about getting a Samsung HS3000 bluetooth headphone adapter for the treadmill/wearing shorts. (thread here someplace about it.)
Ipod nano or a Sansa clip might be a more reasonable solution though.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of armbands, especially w/ a phone the size of the GSIII, it would be quite cumbersome.
I've used a Tune Belt sport belt forever while working out @ the gym & running. I originally bought it for a minidisc player like 6-7 years ago but also used it for my iPod 5G & my current Nexus S in a tpu case. It's still in great shape today, no rips/tears or anything. The fact that I still use it today speaks to its durability & quality. I'm getting the GSIII soon tho & so I'll probably have to upgrade my tune belt as well, luckily they have one for large phones now.

Bluetooth headset and a plastic baggie do the trick for me. The phone goes into a pocket in my shorts and the headset lets me ff, rw, stop and play the music. Sandwich bags keep moisture from getting into the phone.
Low tech but it works.

I just don't like the phone moving around in my pocket while exercising. If it were a treadmill, I could just set the phone in the cupholder and use the clip-on Bluetooth headset people have been recommending, but I need something that will prevent the phone from moving while on my body.

This is interesting. A belt for your phone? I'll try to find one that fits the S III.
I actually started running last week and an armband works pretty fine... Before that I had a belt kinda thing but it still bounces too much and is quite annoying, an armband is pretty well fixed and when tied around the upperarm, you hardly feel it's there.
But appearantly for you it is, hmmm... Belt would be worth a try then, it's more centered I guess. Perhaps mine just didn't fit properly.
Belt Clip the way to go.
I hate the armband thing. When you flex you bicep it tightens up too much.
When I had a iPhone I used the Mareware Sportshell and loved it! It had both armband and belt clip. I only ever used the belt clip. I CANNOT find anything else like it so far for the S3.
This is the site for the SportShell: New user so I can't post it but just Google it.
