Power Settings Opens Randomly - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I am running Tilt 2 with the new ATT rom with sense 2.5, it is ok, but from the first install, the power settings page for power and backlight randomly opens on it's own. Quite annoying to be in the middle of doing something and then this page opens up and takes over the screen until I tap the X or back button. Nothing shows in the task manager as running, and even the advanced task manager shows nothing running.
I have scanned all of the posts here and cannot find any reference to this issue, nor can I find any reference to it on the ATT forums.
I have done a hard rest and still persists, so it has to be part of the ROM, but no one else is noting this problem.
I am out of ideas on where to look.
Thoughts or ideas are welcome.

Power Settings Opens Radomly
More information, something in Sense is calling for powerexe.exe to load. If I unload Sense, nothing happens, but when I restart Sense, the problem resumes. It is worse when weather updates are taking place.
I am not sure where in the registry the settings for Sense are located, or what segment is calling for powerexe.exe to load. Help appreciated, if anyone has any ideas.

Desperate - Need Ideas

Was running ATT WM5 and all was well. Flashed to Offical ATT WM6 using SPL2.1. Now I'm at ROM 3.62.502.3 1.54.07.00 32.86u.7020.23H. At this point, still ok. Installed PPTFix to remap button 5 to Voice Speed Dial and setup Plantronics head set. Still ok. Added some email accounts and a customized background. All ok. Synced Contacts, Notes, etc. Still ok. Decided I didn't like the Comm and Battery Icons on the bottom tray and ran MobileRegistryEditor and changed values from 1 to 0. Still ok the rest of afternoon and last night.
Got up this morning, did a soft reset, and everything went to hell. Booted normally up to the green Windows screen, then hung there for 3 or 4 minutes. Finally got to the Today screen, but all apps run like honey on a cold morning. I can use VoiceCommand to place calls and I can Dial out Manually, but if I tap my contacts button, no contacts show up. Email won't send/receive, but I can get incoming calls. Today screen shows correct appointments and task, but tap Calandar and they don't show up there.
Before I do anything else, I wanted to get some ideas on where to start.
Pretty sure hiding the comm manager was your problem
I'm pretty sure hiding the comm manager icon was your problem, I've heard there are numerous problems when you hide the comm manager icon. Change that key back and see if your problems go away.
KarhU said on the ROM benchmark :
6. Never hide the WirelessManager Tray Icon at the bottom.
Don't believe me?
Try it and feel the difference.
This is the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000 ;<--- (dword:00000000 to hide and dword:00000001 to show)
Yeah, I've seen this issue in many of the recent WM6 ROM Threads. It's a true shame, since it means we're stuck with having to keep the bottom tray visible. I (for one) do not like that waste of screen space.
Too bad the fix for this anomaly is so elusive.

Thanks for the help. It looks like the Comm Mgr icon may have been the problem. My 8525 wouldn't connect to the Internet, Email or (thru Active Sync) to my desktop. Finally went into Settings/System/Clear Storage and it completely reloaded WM6. Reinstalled all my extra apps and things are fine. Of course I haven't tried to edit the registry and get rid of those bottom icons, and I don't think I'm going to. If anyone finds a sure method to get rid of the bottom system tray, please post.

My Active Programs/Task Manger Icon is Missing!!

Hey everyone; So I was just going through and updating all of contacts, customizing settings, etc in my T-Mobile TP2, and when I went back to the home screen my task manager icon (which usually appears at the top right of the screen) was gone! I did multiple soft resets, to no avail; When I open a program the "x" button shows up so i can close it, but if I just want to minimize to the homescreen and switch to a different program (or close other programs running in the background) I'm unable to!
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know the fix???? This is a pretty crucial feature, otherwise I can never multi-task!
Thanks in advance.
Two more things that might help? 1. I'm using the stock T-Mobile US ROM, and 2. Is there somewhere I can go in the registry to turn it back on?
Either that, or maybe a custom bar along the top that will re-enable that icon?
Thanks.......
I figured it out... Going back through the settings again, I found that in Settings > Task Manager > "Button" tab, I had unchecked "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen", thinking that it was only an option that applied to the Windows Today screen that was just taking up background resources (since Im using the TouchFlo 3D interface)...
Sorry! Hope this can be used as a reference to anyone else having this problem, though!

HTC Notifications Manager on AT&T Tilt 2 Stock ROM

I was reading through the Tilt 2 user manual last night and came across some screenshots of the HTC Notification Manager. It's supposed to pop up when one taps any of the icons in the title bar (signal meter, battery meter, etc.). On my Tilt 2, tapping the signal meter causes a connections bubble to pop up, but nothing else. Using the FDCSoft Task Manager, I found the HTC Notification Manager service to be stopped. It's set to automatic, but doesn't start when the phone boots up. You can start the service and the Notification Manager will work after that, but it will not survive a soft reset. Has anyone else seen the same behavior or found a fix for this? Is there any way to make the service start when the phone is soft reset? I checked the registry settings for the service but there was no obvious key to change.
I did a search for this and found a brief thread from October that was never resolved. Just curious if there is a fix for this.

sense ui wont stay default?

some reason my senseui wont stay as default home button action... whenever i open the quick menu then click the home again... it will ask me to use htc sense or launcher... and i checked the default use for htc sense ui... is there anyway to fix this?
if you click set as default it should work, you can always just go uninstall launcher, or download home switch(er) from market.
i checked, and looks like it was an app, b/c i even reflashed and same issue right when i installed the newest qik
Weird, this happens to me too. Anytime I long press the home button and open one of the recent apps I lose my default launcher and have to re-select it...
You think it may be Qik?
*edit- It's definitely the qik update. I just uninstalled it and the bug went away, reinstalled and its back.
yea... qik updates are ****ty for some reason...
has anyone noticed how the evo battery will hold a charge at certain percentages... and drop quickly at other percentages quickly?
this issue just happened to me, thanks for the tip about qik, uninstalled and all is fine.
Same problem and solution here.
Qik sucks. I hope a GTalk app with video chat and facetime/skype support is in the works.
Uninstalled Qik.. Home button keeps defaults again.
Just wanted to give my 2 cents that I have had this issue also.
When I hold down the home button to switch apps.. I see the sense ui icon listed and this effectively resets/loses my default behavior for my home button.
As soon as I uninstalled Qik.. I dont see the Sense UI icon listed anymore while doing home long press. It also remembers my home default behavior.

[Q] Problem with Screen remaining unlocked

This problem is with the screen and phone not going to sleep mode after an event that brings it out of sleep.
After i lock the screen manually by pressing the button on the top, the phone would wake up briefly due to an event like a calendar reminder, text, phone etc.
So after certain duration of inactivity, it should go back into the sleep mode automatically. Right, it used to, but not anymore. It just stopped. I have checked the Advanced settings under the Battery option but no good.
Although after say 30 seconds (as per my setting) the screen fades to low light to conserve battery, but remains active.
As a result i have inadvertently pocket dialed quite a many and it's beginning to be a privacy concern and a pain in the butt for me and others. Not to mention the charges from the international number my phone self-dialed.
I'm using a TP-2 Rhodium OS 6.1.
As if the battery didn't suck enough, I needed this !!!
Any tips would be appreciated.
If the phone "used to" go to sleep but doesn't anymore, it sounds like a recently installed program or process is running in the background forcing it to stay on.
Does the phone refuse to go to sleep only after being woken up by an event?
...or does it not go to sleep on its own at all anymore?
Isn't pressing that button on the top just closing the screen?, unless you set it as the lock as well
I should have mentioned - the phone will go back to sleep mode if I manually operate the button on the top. Just that it won't go to sleep on its own anymore.
You may be right user602, about the recently installed apps, but is there any way to narrow down on the culprit instead of uninstalling all of them?

Click to collapse
Go back and check the power settings again; make sure they are set to have the screen turn off. Change the settings to some other value and see if that helps. Maybe something just messed around with your registry entries.
If not, you will need to uninstall those programs, in reverse order, until the device works.
I'd start by changing the power settings as suggested by stevedebi above.
If that doesn't help, and you want to avoid uninstalling a bunch of stuff, you can look at what's running using Task Manager:
-Begin by stopping running programs one at a time, and seeing if the device will sleep.
-If that doesn't help, stop processes one at a time, and again see if the device will sleep (watch out for critical system processes, though).
...or if you're lucky, you may find something in the \windows\startup folder, such as a program you were not aware is starting on boot.
Of course, this all ends with uninstalling programs one at a time if none of the above suggestions work.

I can swear i tried this before and it didn't work. Changed it one last time before doing anything else,... and voila !!!
Thanks 602 & stevedebi
That was easy!
I'm glad the simplest solution worked for you.
...That's usually not my luck!
Cheers,
