My Active Programs/Task Manger Icon is Missing!! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hey everyone; So I was just going through and updating all of contacts, customizing settings, etc in my T-Mobile TP2, and when I went back to the home screen my task manager icon (which usually appears at the top right of the screen) was gone! I did multiple soft resets, to no avail; When I open a program the "x" button shows up so i can close it, but if I just want to minimize to the homescreen and switch to a different program (or close other programs running in the background) I'm unable to!
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know the fix???? This is a pretty crucial feature, otherwise I can never multi-task!
Thanks in advance.

Two more things that might help? 1. I'm using the stock T-Mobile US ROM, and 2. Is there somewhere I can go in the registry to turn it back on?
Either that, or maybe a custom bar along the top that will re-enable that icon?
Thanks.......

I figured it out... Going back through the settings again, I found that in Settings > Task Manager > "Button" tab, I had unchecked "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen", thinking that it was only an option that applied to the Windows Today screen that was just taking up background resources (since Im using the TouchFlo 3D interface)...
Sorry! Hope this can be used as a reference to anyone else having this problem, though!

Orange SPV M5000 - Want to remove the Orange Today Bar

Can anyone tell me how to get the today screen back to the normal windows pocket pc today screen. Orange has put that bar of theirs on the left side of the screen. I have tried a few things to overide it but then it comes back up on the screen. How can I remove it or disable it.....
I want to use some pocket pc programs for the today screen but this orange bar overides the program.
cheers

What have you tried to remove it?
Presumably it's not shown in Settings > Personal > Today?
And \windows\start up?
V
Correct it does not work to disable the Orange Shortcuts Symbols on the Home Screen. I have in the shortcuts Contacts, Phone, Messaging, Calendar, Camera Expert Mode, Orange World on the Shortcuts Bar. I want to completely deactivate or remove it from the HTC. The problem I find is that if you go in the settings menu for today you cannot remove it.
Also when I did a hard reset the first time the screen was like it shows in the Windows Pocket PC Manual with the today screen. Orange seems to have put the overide settings in the rom of the unit when you boot-up the unit to show their tool bar symbols on the today screen.
I would like a an suggestion or fix in getting this removed since if I uses as a example a pocket PC battery program I can have full use of the program on my today screen. Currently the Orange seeting overide these setting to there own.

Tried a hard reset again and went into the today settings. well this time it worked. I quess there was a lockup somwhere in the software. Question is in the items section what is the today timeout check box used for?
The DragonUK
Not sure I understand you but if you want to get rid of the Homescreen as Orange calls it go to:
Settings -> Today -> Appearance
and choose the Windows Default theme.
That will give you the standard windows start page.
If you do a search on these forums you will find most of the answers you need, it saves opening new threads all the time.
 Problem Solved........ Thanks for the Help

Desperate - Need Ideas

Was running ATT WM5 and all was well. Flashed to Offical ATT WM6 using SPL2.1. Now I'm at ROM 3.62.502.3 1.54.07.00 32.86u.7020.23H. At this point, still ok. Installed PPTFix to remap button 5 to Voice Speed Dial and setup Plantronics head set. Still ok. Added some email accounts and a customized background. All ok. Synced Contacts, Notes, etc. Still ok. Decided I didn't like the Comm and Battery Icons on the bottom tray and ran MobileRegistryEditor and changed values from 1 to 0. Still ok the rest of afternoon and last night.
Got up this morning, did a soft reset, and everything went to hell. Booted normally up to the green Windows screen, then hung there for 3 or 4 minutes. Finally got to the Today screen, but all apps run like honey on a cold morning. I can use VoiceCommand to place calls and I can Dial out Manually, but if I tap my contacts button, no contacts show up. Email won't send/receive, but I can get incoming calls. Today screen shows correct appointments and task, but tap Calandar and they don't show up there.
Before I do anything else, I wanted to get some ideas on where to start.
Pretty sure hiding the comm manager was your problem
I'm pretty sure hiding the comm manager icon was your problem, I've heard there are numerous problems when you hide the comm manager icon. Change that key back and see if your problems go away.
KarhU said on the ROM benchmark :
6. Never hide the WirelessManager Tray Icon at the bottom.
Don't believe me?
Try it and feel the difference.
This is the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000 ;<--- (dword:00000000 to hide and dword:00000001 to show)
Yeah, I've seen this issue in many of the recent WM6 ROM Threads. It's a true shame, since it means we're stuck with having to keep the bottom tray visible. I (for one) do not like that waste of screen space.
Too bad the fix for this anomaly is so elusive.

Thanks for the help. It looks like the Comm Mgr icon may have been the problem. My 8525 wouldn't connect to the Internet, Email or (thru Active Sync) to my desktop. Finally went into Settings/System/Clear Storage and it completely reloaded WM6. Reinstalled all my extra apps and things are fine. Of course I haven't tried to edit the registry and get rid of those bottom icons, and I don't think I'm going to. If anyone finds a sure method to get rid of the bottom system tray, please post.

Toggle between apps

Searched, didn't find answer. Is there any way to toggle between two apps I'm using without going through multiple steps? I'm currently having to hit the home button, go to advanced task killer, selecting the app that is open that I want to go back to and selecting switch to.
I would rather have something like using alt-tab on a windows desktop of laptop. Even better would be like wktask for windows mobile where it shows the open apps at the top left of the screen and I just tap on the icon for the app I want to go back to and it goes right back to the screen I was on previously in that app.
just hold the home button until the 6 recent app list pops up?
Oh, recent apps, can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks.
Another option is Multitask Manager. It lists all running apps, as well as recently closed apps. You can set it up to where long-pressing the find button will activate the app.
MultiTask Manager
I think recent apps is perfect. Don't want to make it more complicated. Quick, easy, and simple without adding another app. Although is there an advantage over advanced task killer? I guess I was overthinking the problem and looking for a better software solution when I already had discovered the hard button option, just never used it when I needed it and forgot about it.

[Q] home screen has changed

somehow i accidently changed the home screen and i cant return it back to the default screen, which has the icons of the different categories. i have tried all the different settings ann cant find anywhere to change it back. on the home screen it has calendar and contacts on the bottom and i can add other categories on top but it goes into list style without icons. can anyone help, without me having to do a hard reset? i cant even do a soft reset because going to settings where it used to allow me to choose all settings it now goes straight the icons where i cant find soft reset option.
It sounds like (not sure from your description) you have TouchFLO/Sense showing, but want the default Titanium Home screen.
Try going to Start>Settings>Today>Items and uncheck TouchFLO or Sense.
thank you for response
i have touchpro2 and sense is not checked in items. as far as what titanium screen is , i dont know what that is. the screen i want back is the screen you see on every touchpro2 you see online, background with icons to choose from, easily change items, weather , and the bar on the bottom that you can slidt e left or right for different tasks. now it is just the word calendar on left bottom and contacts on right bottom
I understood you backwards. You want Sense checked. Then click OK.
Sense is the HTC-made interface/home screen. If you check "Windows Default" instead, you will get Titanium home screen (the "standard" home screen for Windows Mobile). Right now, you actually have neither.

[Q] Pull down menu

I have searched for the picture but I cannot find it.
At one time I could pull down from the top and where the notifications were, I had a widget there that had my calculator, flashlight, power bost etc. I have played with several launchers the other day I downloaded CCLeaner for my phone. I am guessing it removed an apk file??
My wifes Note 4 has no launchers on it. Stock ... and hers has it.
PS I factory reset due to the horrible instability when near wifi areas. My phone would freeze if it saw a wifi network ( even without password) and I ultimately would have to turn wifi off to get my phone to have signal. Any help on this second issue would be appreciated.
Best,
David
While on the screen showing the list of available Wifi, touch the three dots in the upper right corner. Select advanced. Uncheck "Network Notification" and "Always Allow Scanning."
Should help with battery life, too.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
Thank you sir! Now on to find out what happened to my pull down menu... Found a pic.
Edit. Found solution. It is part of Clean master in settings. Thanks for the wifi trick!
Can you clarify the solution you found? I am having the same issue but cannot find Clean master in settings.
Edit: Never mind, I just realized what you said. You installed Clean Master. Sorry for the confusion.
Open the app, at the bottom it has "me"
Tap to "settings" and turn on "Notification Toggle" There you can add different ones and change the color, let me know if you need a screenshot.
