For me, XFJM6 is much better than XWJM6
Though HVJH1 is also nice! I'm kinda undecided between XFJM6 and HVJH1

ABSOLUTELY AGREED. 24 hours later after installing XFJM6 and I don't feel the need to lag-fix, autokiller, or any of the other things we've done in desperation the last two months to make our phones work. GPS even seems acceptable in that one so far.

Nice FAQ, but I think you should change stable/stock version from WJM6 to FJM6.

A friend of mine just bought a new SGS from India with I9000DDJF6, which looks really fast and polished. I had bought mine around 2months back with JF3 or something (not sure anymore with all the flashes ). Does anyone have a link to download DDJF6? Or any other info on it?

I've used many many firmwares. Best firmware so far is JPC.
anybody tried TGYJH1 for the asian version? I am tempted to use XFJM6 but afraid that I am gonna lose chinese txt input. can anyone confirm this? and also how to check on my current firmware, believe there is a keypad combination to enter from.

Tried JH1 - it does not have the option to explicitly choose between 2G/3G. And battery suckage on 3g/auto is too much for me - deal breaker for me.
XWJM7. With no doubt. the is one of the best in the matter of GPS and performance.

Leave this for the developers, if you try to flash it kittens will die.
-Truckin-
Alright,I made this statement once an I will say it again.
Do not ask how to flash this ota, it is not designed to be flashed our used by the average person. It is based strictly in Chinese, no google services in it. This is for developers to use, toy with an extract files to make roms or update them.
This time around,I will delete any comment asking how to flash. I know who the devs are, an who the users area.
Morning guys.
Just rooted and using omega rom. So far so good, no issues.
Was considering updating my stock kernel, was after some advice on which one? As a new user.
Cheers

We're lucky because all the custom kernels are really good for Note 2.
Personally I usually use either Perseus or RedPill, but Note2Core and NEAK are great too.
Best thing to do it back-up in recovery, download each kernel, and then use each one for a few days to see which one works best for you :good:

I'm presuming (being new) I'd nandriod back up prior, and flash in the usual way?
Do the kernels have to be build number specific? Or do most generic versions work?

Yeah, Nandroid back-up via recovery first, then just flash like any other zip.
You do need to flash the kernel that corresponds to your phone model, yes. So if you have N7100 only flash N7100 kernels. If you have N7105 then only flash N7105 kernels. Should be obvious which is which in each thread though.

You can use them just how they come if you like, no harm in doing that.
If you've got some time to test the best settings for your cpu, you can play around with undervolting to CPU for slightly more battery savings, though I can't say whether or not you'll actually notice these savings in day to day use.

I used to dabble with this but I think it's now got to the point where the kernel devs do such a good job anyway that I don't feel the need to tinker anymore. For example, I get over 2.5 days from a single charge using Perseus, that's with light/moderate use and WiFi / mobile data always on.

Jelly Bean..4.1.2 to be specific. Runs well for this limited device. Sense is bloated garbageware imo..wont use it. 4.2 Jelly Bean is not far behind sense as far as being resource hungry. Once you install a few apps,it turns into crap like sense. So for me its 4.1.2 or best case scenario a working cm9 ics or lower. Which we do not have that is bug free that is.
CM9 for me.Though it is buggy, i find the audio more clear and less distorted, but the graphic glitches in kangbang are just killing it.If I had to go for JB slimbean it is.
I had good experience using Sense (with the latest update!): the battery lasts longer than with CM10.1, the sound of Beats Audio with my Philips Headphone is very good and the User Interface is well-thought.
But the Interface has more lags than 4.1.2, and Google Now will never work on it.
So both Systems has pros and cons.
