Are you experiencing good transfer rates? I'm between 200 and 300 kb/s, which is slow compared to 800 kb/s of normal LAN transfering.
Anyway, DMZ doesn't appear to change anything.

Simplest way is to remove your setting for wap??
Apart from that perhaps your could use an updated comm manager which has the 'data connection' button and turn it off?
I use PocketToolman 2, it sit's in the tray at the bottom, I tap and hit disconnect, then I tap the wifi icon also in the tray and tap turn-on. Great little application.

after i installed Pockettoolman i tap on the computer in lower right and a menu pops up then I click on disconnect from that menu. That will disconnect Wap. Then I tap on the wifi icon and select "turn on". That's it.
Good luck

Hi, I face the same problem and noticed that sometimes by itself starts the data connection and also when unlock the tytn from s2u2. It's very annoying to always check first whether it did not pop-up on top of the home screen at the signal strength.
I use Comm Manager where I have data connection settings, but it takes time switch it off that way.
So I would really need to remove the WAP settings. But I'm not a programer so I don't know where to look for the settings. Thnx.
Goto settings,connections,connections,advanced,select networks.
Change the 'internet'(top one) to 'my work network'.

Thanks for the advice, it solved one problem.
The other is connected with that I'm using WeatherPanel which requests updates. If the WiFi isn't open it always tries to download through GPRS, therefore I have to cancel it each time I wake-up the phone. Is there anyway to change the settings so wouldn't try to connect?

I'm almost sure you can tell the weather panel to update manually.
Everytime I open an email with images the only thing that shows are the X's to where the images are. How do I make the images show when I open an email. I want to read it the way I would see it on the PC.
My BB 8900 showed the images as long as I clicked on show images. High Tech Computer phone should be having these problems.
I think It's bacause pocket oulook doesn't support HTML. IMHO

Huh? POutlook supports HTML just fine!
I had the very same problem a while back on my TYTNII, I got round it by installing Schap's Advanced Config and setting the Proxy Auto Detection from disabled to enabled under Internet Explorer settings.
Schap's Advanced Config can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151
I downloaded it and did what you said. I even did a soft reset and I re opened my email and the images still don't show.

Did you retry downloading the images in POutlook? Does Internet Explorer work OK? I found that Internet Explorer wouldn't download images corretly when POutlook wasn't working... That's how I found they were linked.
Daft question - you have got POutlook settings set up for HTML and to actually download the message and not just the header haven't you??
I have no idea what you are talking about. All I did was set up my Gmail and Aim email on the device. No images are showing in either accounts. I never set up an POutlook or whatever that is.
Do you get an image placeholder [x] where the image should be? Do you also get a notification bar at the top of this message?

Mesquire,
Yes that's exactly what I see when I open up my emails.
Are you able to click on "Internet pictures blocked" to download the images for your email?
Never tried actually, but what if I can and what if I can't?
If you can: the behaviour is by design
This is similar to Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express/Vista's Windows Mail/Windows Live Mail - images embedded into a HTML email are blocked initially.
So how do I get it to work correctly? Is your HTML blocked?
Anyone else HTML blocked?
Just tested using Gmail's IMAP access. Embedded images are blocked, as usual, with [x]. Click on "Internet pictures blocked" and images are downloaded to show the HTML email in all its glory.
Yeah I just checked and it's all good now. Thanks!
Windows Seven doesn't have icon for Samsung Galaxy Nexus
so when we plug our Nexus we get this default icon

system path for this icon is %SystemRoot%\system32\wpdshext.dll,-704
I made one custom icon for my Nexus and want to share with all of you.
How to change it
Plug your phone to your computer
Check windows did recognize your phone.
Open regedit go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB
Press F3 (find) type Galaxy Nexus or %SystemRoot%\system32\wpdshext.dll,-704
When you see
Open Icons delete %SystemRoot%\system32\wpdshext.dll,-704 and type the path to where you download your icon
my case is C:\Users\GSI\Documents\icons\Samsung.Galaxy.Nexus.ico
press enter and you are done.

Same for Windows Vista? Hasn't worked so far so just checking if it's the same thing (work PC is Vista, got 7 at home so will give it a go)
Thanks, it looks great ^_^
In addition
If you are also annoyed by the little things like how it says "Portable Media Player", change the "PortableDeviceType" key to 3, that will set it as "Mobile Phone"
Thanks for the icon and instructions. Is it possible to do something similar with other USB devices that are simply storage drives?
But i still have Problems with the Tiny Icon in the Taskbar:
Its not showing the New Icon.

Awesome! Makes the whole experience more sleek
Why isn't this working for me? :\
Today i can give you the option to change the Symbol in "Devices and Printers" too
You need to do the following Steps:
Go to the following Folder:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataSto re\en-US
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
And add this File:
http://www.mediafire.com/?xk3y6u3xxcv9ba3
(I´ve done that by my self and used a random Number. If there is the same Filename then dont replace it!!)

BTW running windows 7 ultimate.....
My icon won't change. I searched and changed every icon value I could find in the registry (including ControlSet002).
I got it to change to say Mobile Phone, though.
I also tried to change it in Devices and Printers, but that didn't work either. Just says MTP.
WHOA!
thank you XD
Eres un barbar!!! (all perfect)
Does it work for Windows XP...
... in the same way?
Thanks!
Sharing a recommendation. This free app allows you to control your android phone over wifi. You launch the app (with wifi) on. The app tells you the ip address to key into your browser on your desktop/laptop (within the same wifi network).
You can send/receive SMS over there. Check contacts, etc etc etc.
Useful tool. I leave it connected when working so I can just handle my SMS really quickly.
Elegant design and well built. Tested on the One X.

amazing app +1 thanks for letting me know
Well FTP app (free fom the play store)
Ever had a data cable connection fail on you?
Had to fork out for a repair.... Nope.... me neither.
That's because I use an awesome app from the play store to
transfer files between PC/mac and phone via my router.
I know as an avid flasher that constant plugging and unplugging takes its toll
on the microUSB port on the phone which you cant ignore.
After all, its the only way to charge.
You need 2 free components and your router to get this working and
after 2 mins setting it up, it takes seconds to use.
You need WellFTP app available free from the Google Play store.
You also need a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program.
A popular, easy to use and even better, Freeware FTP is Filezilla.
Install the downloaded filezilla.exe ready to use on your pc/mac.
Assuming you have the WellFTP app on your phone and Filezilla
installed on your pc with a wireless connection via your router:
(1) Activate the app on your phone. It should show the following:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(2) Run the Filezilla program on your PC/mac. At the very top left click File>Site Manager
(3) Click New Site and name the device (mine is HTC One X):
(4) Now enter the ftp server address from your phone screen (eg 192.###.1.76) into the General tab, Host box.
Then type the port number (thats the last 4 digits on the app server address, in my example its 2121) into the Port box.
Press OK.
(5) Select the Site Manager button (directly below the File button) on the Filezilla program.
On the dropdown select your device.
(6) This should activate the server and connect to your phone.
A list of the sd card contents will appear in the listbox on the
right side of the screen and your pc files will show on the left.
(7) You are now connected and can either drag and drop files to/from the phone
contents using the browser windows or straight from your desktop. You will see
the transfer details in the bottom window with eta's etc.
Next time you want to connect your phone via the wifi connection, activate the WellFTP app
on the phone and the filezilla program on your PC.
Select the device from the server dropdown as per setup and it will quickly show the phone files.
Drag and drop till your hearts content.
This isnt new.... its not ground breaking but if it means our phones last a bit longer and
we don't need to return to stock for un-nescessary warranty work its well worth using.
I use this daily for web design etc and so far have had no issues whatsoever.
I am not however responsible if something happens to your phone, your pc or whatever.
Use this software/app at your own risk.
That looks good if you are set up at home or work.
Otherwise I would just use AirDroid. Don't need to set up any thing just start the app go to the address it gives you.
Thanks for this guide man..this is useful in the future.. :good:
worked fine for me
thanks man
Thanks for this tip Mr Peach ! Works great.
